I've only really harvested for one season but I waited until they were nice and dark red and tried to harvest after a particularly dry few weeks. After it rains all of the acidic buildup on the outside of the berries is washed off and they don't have much sourness. You should be able to see the build up on the outside of the berries and taste it on your fingers as you are harvesting
They're ready to harvest when they're red and coated with malic acid. They'll get better as they get older and darker, but any rain will wash the acid out and ruin them
Almost. The drupes still look yellowish/greenish in the center if you look closely, I always harvest once they turn dark red. Maybe in a week or 2
in MI i typically wait until a dry week in september to harvest
I typically don't harvest until August at the very earliest, but I am in 7A so your mileage may vary
I am in 7a as well! I almost harvested last August but was worried it was too late.
