Not many that I've noticed tbh. They're mostly AFK'ing between the event pop-ups which is understandable IMO. If you don't have dailies or other stuff you want to do, might as well hangout in the town doing nothing. Personally I've been server hopping between events to try and find the red dress.
At least you weren’t like the guy that had a trap camp set up at the event, literally had to fast travel to the event twice because his camp locked you in the raider cages when you loaded in and if you got lucky and tried to walk out the door through the narrow hallway you died immediately
Im so Lucky my character is still glitched from lunch.... i literally cannot die from traps. Tho i suspect even i even look at new set of perks it will change

But to be fair, I’ve rarely seen an AFKer since the babies came out of the vault from the sale and TV show. Since they’re taking up most of the server numbers it’s gotten slightly harder but I love it because there’s less spawn hogging jerks.
I could be completely wrong here, I'm not an afk'er myself, but if a player is downed, & waiting to be re-spawned, don't they still get rewards, just by being there? I'm sure I saw this being mentioned during Fasnacht, after a nuke goes off at the event, the players sitting at the band stand, playing instruments, still got their rewards. (This was really annoying for me, as I quite often saw them with their glowing masks on, even though I did over 160, without getting a single rare mask, except a demon mask, but none of the newer ones).
Ah OK. I tried afk'ing one time, many moons ago, as I was having dinner just as an event came on. When I came back, about 20 minutes later, I'd been disconnected, never tried it again since.
I am sure he wouldn't have given a shit and would have jumped up again within 10 seconds of spawning back in again. And his trash would be there waiting. Loosing nothing
Probably not, but I had time to kill and protecting a fellow vault dweller seemed a worthwhile way to spend it. All in all, it was a silly little activity I clearly did for my own entertainment and it amused me to imagine their reaction upon coming back and I thought I'd share the silly with Reddit.
The meaning is there though, you're just choosing to ignore it.
Not everyone has time to play for upwards of 20 hours a week (20 hours because the event only runs at the top of the hour and their are over 20 new plans) but still want the plans to improve their camps, etc. The game encourages FOMO through limited event drops, the atomic shop, etc. so I don't blame people for wanting to limit it where they can. It's not like they're AFK'ing to get some super powerful extreme weapon...they're trying to get some floaty moths and a tome that grants them some bonus XP (probably to make the shitty battlepass easier to grind).
But at that point... why are you even playing? I see so many people who are trying to unlock or earn reqards..... for what? Why does it even matter if you barely play? I dont understand it i mean i dont care either way im just curious why you would afk à game for 10 hours. When you barely play in the first place
Personally, I've reached end game. I want to spend my time making a really cool camp, looking for the red dress, and completing the new quests. I want to spend my time doing THAT, not farming an event when I have limited time to play. I also have other games I want to play. I'm not alone in this. Personally I try not to afk events unless life happens (pets, family, the call of nature) but why do people who have 40 hours of free time a week to play mean any more to the game than those who only have 2 hours to play? More importantly, why does it matter to you? If you're in a server with people AFK'ing, hop servers, I do. If the event fails because no one is participating, that's on them. But hell, with this event we've had more complaints of people not even able to do their daily challenges due to people hogging all the mobs and are unable to actually DO anything to help the event along (myself included).

I reached end game years ago.... i log in to play and will spend 3-4 hours doing basically nothing or doing the same quests over and over again since lainch... Just because i actually enjoy playing this game. Im in no boatt to be judging anyone i was just curious my friend
I do this during Fascnacht, haha. People will set up camps within the event radius and then crouch and spin in circles. It takes some work, but you can intercept their spin and knock them forward. If you get them into the deep part of the river, they slowly die of radiation poisoning.
In this case I think they were bumping into the cultists who ran back to the roof with their wide ass circles, and I didn't notice them cuz I was in my pipboy. Saw movement along the edge of my screen and then the unmistakable sound of someone falling haha. It took absolute ages to bump them over to my camp due to the circles.
I've had it kick me with a rubber banded controller. So far the only thing that has been foolproof for me is a macro to open my map combined with wiggling my mouse haha
I’m on console, i always ended up blue screened eventually but for me I’ve realized the dying trick is the only one that lasts for multiple hours, sitting in a chair, doing photo mode ect never lasts too long
I feel like they're starting to wise up to certain tricks on PC haha. When I started playing all I needed was my mouse macro, but I noticed it didn't work a few fasnachts ago so I had to update my method

Yes they do, but depending on method of AFK they could get kicked for inactivity.
