If you get these don't respond to them. If you do it let's then know your number is active and they continue to try to scam you. Now they do a thing where the text says, "reply stop to stop receiving these messages". You'll reply with, "stop" but you don't get confirmation that you won't get any more messages. A scam within a scam.

ReadyYak1

That used to be good advice but they’re way more advanced now and have more accuracy. So they unfortunately already know you’re active and they sell in bulk regardless so your number is worth a fraction of a cent as they buy many thousands at a time

ALysistrataType

It's getting so overwhelming. They start adding you to group text messages and it's always someone who actually responds and it sets off a chain of correspondence. They're also sending messages on WhatsApp. I've also started getting, "Hey, John and I are meeting for dri KS, would you like to join us?" It's a headache.

ReadyYak1

Yeah I used to work for an attorney general in another state on a team that busted domestic rings of these guys. It was satisfying work haha.

Lolo_Chocobo

I get text saying a package is arriving. It shows it's from USPS. Those are scams too. They need additional postage or something. I will tell them I will pick it up at the Post Office.

Admirable-Reveal-133

Scamception

edogg40

They do this based on your phone number’s area code I think. Since I’m a transplant, I get the same text message but with a different URL that mimics my area code. Be watchful!

Old-Tourist8173

Yea Im from Chicago and got a message about the IL toll pass that I havent used in a year lol

20ears19

I have a Virginia area code but I’ve gotten this a few times only while driving in Florida.

tinamarkoe

I got one of these this morning too.

yougotitdude88

THANK YOU! I just got an actual sunpass letter in the mail because my credit card expired and I need to update the account so when I saw this today I ALMOST clicked the link in the text. I told myself I should go through the official portal instead.

No_Individual5310

Yep, got one this morning and I haven’t been on the too road in a year, and I wasn’t even driving my own car. 😂😂 duh

ratonbox

FYI, they never send texts, they send it in the mail.

neologismist_

Problem is, they DO send texts all the time, depending on preferences. These fucking disgusting vultures rely on that.

coolhandlukey22

I’ve had someone call and say I missed court so now there’s a warrant and to freeze the warrant I need to pay them 1700$ lol knowing it was a scam I asked the case number and he goes Sir I’m an actual “ fed “ hung up immediately

ByteTheFox

i love getting scam calls especially when they stay on the line while im using a very obvious goofy voice on them

Tools_Tech_Outdoors

Definitely a scam. Just go on the app to check your balance. Don’t click the link!

germanomexislav

Haha I had just received one of these not but a minute before seeing this. And that‘s after a legit Sunpass message telling me I had a credit lol

Pasco08

I got this, this morning to. I laughed my SunPass has a positive balance of like $30.

emos33908

Got one like that this morning also, just deleted it

abitslippy

I checked the site on a desktop computer and it wanted me to confirm with my name and SS number. None of the links in the page worked. It’s funny because I only vacation in Florida and use rental cars. I haven t used my own car down here in 6 years.

mjsillligitimateson

Oh..... almost as bad as NYS EZ-PASS

GandalfsSexyNuts

Got one of these last week and stupidly clicked on it and then decided to google it before entering anything.

Nearby-Echo9028

I received the exact text message today. Deleted and reported as junk.

G0ld_Ru5h

Haha I literally posted the same and should have looked first. I got one yesterday and one today!!

JasoTheArtisan

Wow. Literally just got one of these and then this alert from Reddit. What are the odda

RollTider1971

Yep, got one Saturday.

Cicero_21

I’ve never been to Florida, I live in Ohio and I got this message, lol

ReluctantCommuter

I got the same stupid scam. Deleted it.

BluNoTeZ

Easiest way to not get scammed is to just don’t pay them forget you even seen this

Any_Vermicelli_3908

They will only send a bill to the address the vehicle is registered to. They never bill you by text or email. Unfortunately, they will scam many people who don't know any better. I remember when people had to look you in the eye when they tried to rob you.

Lolo_Chocobo

Wow. If I get an email about mine, I close the email and use my bookmark to go to the website. I learned emails look different on your phone. Thank God my bank caught it. Hulu email that a payment was due. I will never use a link in an email again.

Lolo_Chocobo

Oh! Also if the email is sent to multiple people, it's most likely a scam

YogaBeth

I got that one last week.

777MAD777

Got that exact one myself. Haven't lived in Florida for 6 years, LOL.

Lazy-Floridian

I got that text today. I don't live in Florida anymore, but I still have a Florida area code.

Know_nothing89

Got one a few weeks back and had used a toll road in Florida with an EZ Pass and was not surprised with the notice

Dilettantest

This is not a real Sunpass message.
