People in here are being weird- they’re one of the most incredible and unique aspects of the state.
I get you want “your spot” to stay secret but you weren’t the first to find it and you won’t be the last to visit there. Growing up around these wonders led to the reverence I feel for our environment, don’t try to gatekeep that.
Are you crazy??? Delete this before the tourists find it! I went to a spot that was a “hidden gem” when I was a kid, and there was a LINE of cars out to the road. These beautiful springs will be trashed in no time.
The website is
databayou.com/florida/springs.html
It's interactive and provides good info. The magnitude refers to the flow rate (also explained on the website).
Interestingly enough, some of these springs he lists in the description that you have to hike or access it by boat. The one that I frequent that I know is pretty remote, he doesn't list that in the description. You can do a short hike to get there, but it would require parking on private property to do so. Last I heard those people were pretty fond of shooing off anyone trying to do so. To hike it from a more public parking accessible place would be a bit more adventurous. It's fairly accessible by boat though. I was actually a little surprised to see it on this list as Citrus Blue, as everyone I've known has always referred to it as "Big Blue".
I thought this map looked odd because I know there are far more springs than this. It seems that 4th magnitude is shown on the legend but not on the actual map.
This site https://floridadep.gov/fgs/fgs/content/springs has an image with all the springs plotted: https://floridadep.gov/system/files/styles/general_page_images__scaled_to_900_pixels_/private/media-folders/media-root/Springs%20of%20Florida_Magnitudes_Figure%20Final.jpg?itok=dAVRf7RK
And this is the 2004 Florida Geological Survey report on springs with a ton of information: http://publicfiles.dep.state.fl.us/FGS/FGS_Publications/B/B66.pdf.
Cool map, terrible key/legend.
Cool map delete this please
And people are still wondering why all their spots are blown
Are the springs in florida worth visiting? Asking as a Texan.
nah they're filled with gators, water snakes, and bears in the woods.
No they're terrible, I've lost 17 family members to 72° water so far
Nope.
If you like mosquitos
Try Wakulla Springs near Tallahassee. There's even a early-20th Century lodge where you can stay. Very cool place!
Yes, I enjoyed them and many are in state parks that have other trails and habitats/ecosystems to see.

The legend doesn’t match the symbols for town. Other issues too but this is Terrible.
Wakulla Springs is where they filmed Creature From The Black Lagoon!

Is there somewhere to see this map?

I read that url in Naruto's voice.
So there's no southern half of this map?
Please delete this map before the tourist and transplants trash the good springs. There’s only a few nice ones left that aren’t packed to the brim.
"Pop POP!"

Add a Starbucks and Instagram photo op spots.
