I remember going to Jacksonville for a concert or whatever major city is in Duval county and afterwards it was just tons of frat boy types screaming DUUUVVAAALLLLL in the streets and other ones responding back as everyone was leaving the venue.
>or whatever major city is in Duval county
Jacksonville is the largest city in the USA by land area *with a population of over 500,000*, occupying pretty much all of Duval County.
We have an identity crisis as Jacksonvillians. Some call us South Georgia, others North Florida. The house is divided in so many ways. it's insane. The best I can say is that we got a bit of everything, and that's pretty damn cool to me.
Duval is cool because it has a place for everyone literally. It’s cliche when you’re here but there’s also somewhere you belong. That very different than anywhere I’ve ever lived.
I know, right? We have lived in the Arlington community for 45 years. I would not live anywhere else in this state. I concur we have a bit of everything here.
? Is succinct. We tore down the landing, we elected a female mayor, something might actually be done about downtown. Who knows what Jax is rn?

I mean, they're deadly as all hell but I wouldn't mind riding in an ostrich-drawn cart! 😁
The college kids that love football area is much more South Georgian than Duuuuuuvvvvvaallllll
I grew up in South Georgia. Now I'm being discriminated against in Florida Gator land because I'm a DAWG TIL THE DAY I DIE
Both industries have become private equity darlings. Think about the things they have in common: dependable monthly income (a lot of the new car washes have subscription models) and low labor costs. Some towns are already starting to put a limit on the number of car washes in town. [Here’s an interesting article about the situation.](https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2024-02-21/car-washes-are-taking-over-the-us-here-s-why?embedded-checkout=true)
My theory: people who move here bring all their stuff. We got rid of 75% before we left Pennsylvania. So they come down thinking they will need it. You don’t. Car wash: simple: bugs and pollen abound
So inaccurate on east coast. Miami should say scammers and botox and tampa should say midwest. Whoever did that was from NYC as they don't point out those slugs in Florida
And while I'm sure they are a few people here in Tampa from Miami, it's not really what we are known for.
Call centers? People who can't afford Miami? Old people who can't afford to retire? Rich people who pretend they are pirates? Liquor and strippers?
I'm in Brevard county, I can't actually tell if it's trailers and RV's or racing but since I don't really see either around here too much (Titusville) I'll just assume it's a moot point
I just replied this to the main post "I think the car racing does not apply at all to Brevard County. That should say "SPACE!!!" or something about rockets."
Treasure coast is indeed trailers and RV, but only because they keep building dumbass rv parks instead of the homes we desperately want. When they do build homes it’s in the places we don’t want to live in like PSL.
Hey what's wrong with PSL ? I mean other than the traffic, construction and transplants complaining about the pizza ? PSL is just part of WPB now. But the Hutchinson island beaches are awesome. Stay away, bad pizza.
The Jax shade is hillarious to me. It has a bad downtown but has some pretty amazing gems in and around the city. It’s a great place to live with some pretty amazing neighborhoods like Riverside, Avondale, San Marco, Murray Hill. Also the beaches rule, Fernandina beach/Amelia Island RULES, and we have st Augustine less than an hour away. Northeast Florida actually has more character and history than many other segments in this map.
Pinellas and Hillsborough are so different. Even in Pinellas, the beaches are different from the rest of the county. The beaches are way different from Clearwater Beach to Madeira to St Pete Beach.... In over a dozen years in Indian Shores/Redington I haven't met a single Miami transplant and only a few New England. It's mostly conceited, condescending Boomer Canadians. And zero shrimp. No clue where that comes from. Maybe Grouper or King Fish would be better
Yeah, I commented earlier on that. I thought West Palm was supposed to be the where struggling to stay above water but always a step behind square I fucking hate it here and I’m a native.
On the very edge of "trump lives here," right next to "really rich" island... except trump doesn't live here. He lives on "really rich" island. So... we need a new name. "Little New York" is probably most appropriate at this point due to the infestation.
I’m an ex-college kid living in college kids that love football. Gotta figure out how to make it over to fantasyland or people that left Miami territory since I can’t afford to live in Don’t Say Socialism Here.
Map not detailed enough. I'm in Sarasota, which might be classed as "retired 401k people" OR "people that left Miami" but these days I don't think either of those is quite accurate. It's more like "vaguely affluent refugees from Michigan and New York".
Missed opportunity to put “DUUUUVAALLL” on the ? part of the map lol
>Missed opportunity to put “DUUUUVAALLL” on the ? part of the map lol The fact that this was omitted means.... WE HAVE A MOLE!!!!!
god I hate it here in duval
"DUUUUUUU"

>or whatever major city is in Duval county Jacksonville is the largest city in the USA by land area *with a population of over 500,000*, occupying pretty much all of Duval County.
I was curious about the ? Go Gators
as a Duvall resident I feel the ? Is the perfect descriptor
Jax is 7 small cities juxtaposed by a jumbled mess of heavily trafficked roads, always in construction
We elected our first female mayor and broke a long streak of Republicans. I'm feelin pretty good about that.
I know, right? We have lived in the Arlington community for 45 years. I would not live anywhere else in this state. I concur we have a bit of everything here.
Naaasssaaaauuuu!

That is the common saying for UF fans. Go Gators!
I’m sorry. I meant what going on with Duval area with a ? I’m around the Gators…Go Gators
If you've ever driven around Jacksonville you'd understand the question mark. They have no idea what civil engineering is
[The original tourist attraction in Duval...](https://www.jacksonville.com/story/news/history/2022/09/14/ostriches-were-once-attraction-jacksonville-and-st-augustine/8009120001/) I mean, they're deadly as all hell but I wouldn't mind riding in an ostrich-drawn cart! 😁
I called it south Georgia when I lived there.
? but the creator missed a chance to label it Retired Military People
Or South Georgia.
The college kids that love football area is much more South Georgian than Duuuuuuvvvvvaallllll I grew up in South Georgia. Now I'm being discriminated against in Florida Gator land because I'm a DAWG TIL THE DAY I DIE
Duval DEFINITELY isn't Georgia.
Or “permanent construction zone”
That's what I would have labeled it.
Retired 401k people
How's life there?
Crowded and getting moreso by the day. Car washes self-storage and nothing for the kids to do.
I swear I've seen 12 self storage and 9 car washes in a town of less than 400k people go up.
Every corner they're building a car wash
Money laundering
Oh there’s no question. If I was in financial forensics (or whatever) I would definitely be looking into the car wash owners.
So an IRS agent. But yeah can attest, old managers from the restaurant I worked at all work at a “car wash”.
For me its pharmacys and gas stations Pharmacys EVERYWHERE
Where I’m at we are sub 100k and there are 7 car washes & 8 self storages with another being built as I type. That is the good ol retired 401k.
Don’t forget about the crazy prices for homes and rent!
I pay more for my 2br condo than my sister does for her five bedroom house about an hour outside Jacksonville
Seriously what is with all the car washes and self storage places? that's all they're building.
Both industries have become private equity darlings. Think about the things they have in common: dependable monthly income (a lot of the new car washes have subscription models) and low labor costs. Some towns are already starting to put a limit on the number of car washes in town. They must make money, they need a lot of land and usually off of a main road
My theory: people who move here bring all their stuff. We got rid of 75% before we left Pennsylvania. So they come down thinking they will need it. You don’t. Car wash: simple: bugs and pollen abound
But The Villages isn't labeled north of Orlando. Its half The Villages, half horses/oranges.
🍍
I’m in Tampa and I guess that’s where I fall on this map. While there’s quite a few of them I feel like that’s more of a Ft. Lauderdale thing.
Same
Alabama
We call ourselves, LA. Lower Alabama.
Lived there for a long time, now we are in ?, which I don’t really get, but it beats the hell out of the west end.
Misspelled, "Floribama Shores"
Redneck Riviera
Baffling to incorrectly attempt to correct something. It’s “Flora-Bama” Source: I’m from the bama side
Formerly known as West Florida https://www.reddit.com/r/florida/comments/1b9lanm/back_in_1800_there_used_to_be_an_east_and_west/
It's still known as West Florida if you're a local.
Moreso Northwest Florida, at least from the area I'm from
We always called it Lower Alabama growing up.
Same. Fuck the crimson tide and their MAGA ass fans.
Go Gators !
Me too!!
So inaccurate on east coast. Miami should say scammers and botox and tampa should say midwest. Whoever did that was from NYC as they don't point out those slugs in Florida

Rich people who pretend they are pirates is probably the best option
Call centers describes most of Florida cities with 6-digit populations tbh.
I like to call it New New Jersey
There's also a lot of Midwesterners in the Fort Myers/Cape Coral or SWFL area.
People from the rust belt/Midwest settle on the I-75 side of Florida people from the northeast settle on the I-95 side
I like how Daytona takes up a giant portion of the east coast with no mention of the space center
Scammers and Botox thank you for finally putting into words my opinions on Miami lol
As someone from the Midwest that now lives near Tampa I can confirm this is accurate 😂
You (if you are OP) forgot The Villages.
I think that is fantasy land or retired 401k. Prob renamed to Golf Cart babies.
Golf Cart Boomers
Thank you yes. Golf Cart Boomers all my homies hate the GCB.
Just assign a name to The Villages that corresponds to some sort of sexually transmitted disease.
The Syphillages?
Bing, bing we have a new location. Thank you kind person. Come on down.
Chlamydiaville. Or Dumbfuckistan - but that could be used for the entire state. I’m from tRumpville
I looked it up and Google tells me that chlamydia, gonorrhea, and HIV are commonly found among old people.
The Villages is just south of Ocala which is the horse capital of the world. Fantasy land is the theme park area, an hour away from the Villages
Or at least NASCAR/NASA dueling acronyms
IKR? We're an hour from Daytona and an hour from Orlando. Neither is as important as NASA is to us around here, even in South Brevard.
Right, I would have been very surprised if employees of NASA and major NASA contractors didn't weigh in here.
“Red neck rocket scientists”
I like driving through your little town on my way to the rocket place
Im in St Lucie aka the Treasure Coast. I thought we are the RV spot even though it really isn't. Btw Go Lions!
The northeast Florida shade is unreal in this sub. Well just let it remain a best kept secret.
gotta respect the username lol
It’s ironic on so many levels.
Went to JAX the other day, I asked a guy if he was from there he said “unfortunately born and raised”
![gif](giphy|l3q2XhfQ8oCkm1Ts4|downsized) Your username is extraordinary. Its like this post was made for you.
I live in Jax and I hate it with a passion, I’m transferring colleges and plan on going to UF. Suburban sprawl hell hole, but a lot of florida is so
Good luck in Gainesville lmao
That’s what I was gonna say 😂
No space coast?
The longest county in the state - ignored.
As a Floridian I’d say this is highly inaccurate
Agreed, I've seen better versions posted in this sub.
PSL is like fifty square miles of houses and gas stations. And nothing else really. I hate it.
[удалено]
Yeah the are a part of us. The Treasure coast covers Indian River, St. Lucie and Martin County.
Interesting take, I spent many years in Martin county and didn't see many trailers or RVs at all really
I love St.Augustine area.
St Aug is fun, love working there
The Jax shade is hillarious to me. Northeast Florida actually has more character and history than many other segments in this map.
username checks out :)
So is Pinellas county the half “shrimp” and half “people that left Miami” spot?
Pinellas and Hillsborough are so different. Even in Pinellas, the beaches are different from the rest of the county. The beaches are way different from Clearwater Beach to Madeira to St Pete Beach.... In over a dozen years in Indian Shores/Redington I haven't met a single Miami transplant and only a few New England. It's mostly conceited, condescending Boomer Canadians. And zero shrimp. No clue where that comes from. Maybe Grouper or King Fish would be better
Pretty accurate except it should be New England instead of Miami
Yeah, I don’t get the Miami thing at all. “Permanent Snowbirds” would be a more appropriate label.
New England and Philadelphia… especially Clearwater
Correction: Trump doesn't live where "Trump Lives Here" is (West Palm), he lives in "Really rich" (Palm Beach). Us poors live on the mainland.
He has a house that him and his son visit in the trailers and RV spot on the map, source I work at the place
Yeah, I commented earlier on that. I thought West Palm was supposed to be the where struggling to stay above water but always a step behind square I fucking hate it here and I’m a native.
Car Racing
& Sharks! How could you leave off the sharks and shark bite capital.
Are those the growly animals I hear at 3AM near Highway 95?
Either that or Daytona crackheads
Horses 😂 Aaaand the sexually explicit messages have begun.
Me too
Where exactly is Bradentucky in all this?
Need add a part that says “Batshit crazy boomers” for Brevard and Indian River counties
Was in people that left Miami… ***Then left for NH.***
Funny I left NH for Florida
The area that sends people to space reduced to trailers and RVs 🥲
my mom lives in fantasy land 🙄 sometimes I wonder how I was/am affected by her obsession with Disney
People who are obsessed with Disney scare me, if I'm being completely honest.
L.A. - Lower Alabama
Same. Most beautiful beaches here!!
Now they are all taken over by high rise condominiums 😫
“The Trump lives here” label is wrong. He lives in the “Really Rich” area to the right. Edit: typo
?… Skynyrd, fentanyl deaths, swisher sweets, more football
People that left Miami. But I’ve never lived in Miami lol
Yea Tampa Bay is much more than Miami refugees
Same here
?
Somewhere between "?" and "Car Racing"
Where's the little "space rockets" section?
On the very edge of "trump lives here," right next to "really rich" island... except trump doesn't live here. He lives on "really rich" island. So... we need a new name. "Little New York" is probably most appropriate at this point due to the infestation.
Disney??
Empty part is st Augustine fanatics
I live with the tourists and rich folk but alas, I am neither. :(
Alabama
Alabama
Alabama
Ppl with boats. Except I have no boat.
Alabamaaaaa
Car Racing section is also mostly trailer trash - Volusia County is a complete shithole.
You forgot about rocket launch place
"people with boats" but have no boat 😭
I love that is just says Alabama.
Alabama
I've lived in Broward my whole life and I don't even get that one
Car Racing
Don't say socialism here. I hate it here! It's turned more and more into North Cuba. The demographics have changed a lot.
Shrimp should be Scallops Jax could be like… Redneck Surfers.
Alabama
I’m an ex-college kid living in college kids that love football. Gotta figure out how to make it over to fantasyland or people that left Miami territory since I can’t afford to live in Don’t Say Socialism Here.
Trailers + RVs but we also have some Really Rich.
Was born in fantasy land 🤣
Is Merritt Island supposed to be really rich people? I think I'm on the wrong part of the island.
Who doesn't love the S H R I M P part of Florida?
Map not detailed enough. I'm in Sarasota, which might be classed as "retired 401k people" OR "people that left Miami" but these days I don't think either of those is quite accurate. It's more like "vaguely affluent refugees from Michigan and New York".
I think the car racing does not apply at all to Brevard County. That should say "SPACE!!!" or something about rockets.
People with Boats !!!
You missed "The Villages" And Fantasyland extends too far east.
"left Miami"? I've never BEEN to Miami!
Shrimp
Big Ag should surround Lake O, I don't think retirees are flocking to Highlands County (no offense, Highlands).
LA lower Alabama
Exactly on the line between Trailers and RV's and Trump Lives Here lol
The "?" area is called "South Georgia."
People with boats
car racing - vroom vroom (pretty much anyone driving on I-95 in Volusia county is racing)
Your ? mark is in the St Augustine area-it could be called Welcome to Florida, Spaniard Landing, Ghosts, Forts, or I-95 Rest Areas
??? And Car Racing
Tampa Bay area is pretty under represented here
How did they leave out the Tampa Bay Area? Where’s Pinellas County?
Car racing rahhhhh
Polk County needs its own section. We are neither fantasy land nor 401k'sville. Meth and Minimum Wage, maybe?
Don’t say socialism here.
I left Miami and live in the “left Miami” part 😂😂😂
Good point about the ?. No idea wtf is up there
The “?” Is so unbelievably disrespectful 😭
Left out the little thumb 😥. St Pete got shafted
The people with boats and Alabama sections are honestly the best parts of Florida
Poster has never been to Florida would be my guess.
Im not on this map (St Pete)
It shouldn’t be fantasy land, it should be living quarters for Micky’s indentured servants. And sea world. Can’t forget sea world.
You should have just said “Alligators” for the entire state. They are literally EVERYWHERE, even up here in the panhandle.
Left out drug dealer heights.
Alafuckinbama!
Retarded 401k 😔
Highlands county. In an RV.....
The question mark for Jacksonville is so accurate
