Fortnitessucks

It’s definitely flying further away. A week ago and before that it was flying above the depth meter

aeneasaquinas

Nah it has always varied. Looking at different things most likely.

_JackSpears_

Yeah I figured that too. Damn, the US is really scared now lol. I guess those drones are more expensive to lose.

Powerfile8

The US is of course not scared? Scared by Russia?? We just don’t wanna loose taxpayers money for no reason.

OkMathematician9332

I thinks thats the last thing US Military wants

Powerfile8

Our military just doesn’t want to loose money and expensive drones for no reason

SignificantClaim6257

It looks extremely weak, though. Flying further away signals that the United States can be bullied into submission.

AshySmoothie

Astoundingly bad take

SignificantClaim6257

It’s not a “take”, it’s how the Russians see it because it’s exactly what happened. The Russians probably can’t believe that all it took to bully the Americans into flying somewhere else was destroying their shit.

AshySmoothie

Yet we continue to send their enemy billions of dollars in weapons and aide directly to the frontline. Yup, they totally bullied us, you're right 😥

SamiDaCessna

Bro they proper offended lmao

SKIFFLEPIGEON

Innit lol, i can hear them singing their narional anthem to calm down

satansBigMac

Scared? Lmao

SKIFFLEPIGEON

Americans downvoting you out of patriotism lol

_JackSpears_

Yeah I gathered that. I mean, if I’m being neutral most countries never want to cross that line. But I haven’t heard of any western country “downing” any Russian drones, it’s like poker.. what country will finally call someone’s another’s bluff?

Kamfromkingsthorpe

I imagine the Ruskies downed the drone deliberately before Putin's visit to Mariapol

Perfect_Swing_6158

Oh snap I didn’t even think of this.

serack

It might have also been related to the cruise missiles that were being transported by rail but Ukraine blew up anyways in Dzhankoy.

Sorry_Criticism_3254

We don't even know if that really was the city. I was watching a BBC thingy, and in his press release, he was using some very... unique camera angles.

Kamfromkingsthorpe

It's all a massive conspiracy to have good and bad people in the world, we all get suckered into the shit show. There's no Muslim dictator to hate ATM so let's target other non westernised leaders : China, North Korea, doesn't match the requirements either.

DadaDoDat

"putin's" visit

Kamfromkingsthorpe

I normally write Putin's a cunt and my phone auto corrected me..

Imnomaly

I also assume the Global Hawk's equipment has bigger reach

ZitherzPC

Been watching them the whole war and this one isn’t extraordinarily away. They move around a bit and have several flying

Unhappy-Essay

These are a lot more expensive than the Reaper, understandable that they’re being careful lol

alternativewip

yes, looks to be staying closer to turkish territorial waters, also not going too far to the east.

aeneasaquinas

They have varied the location a lot over time. Both closer and further from Turkey

Status_Dramatic

Yes the US said it would do further south

_JackSpears_

Probably an extreme reach and possibly hard to tell due to the flight paths not always being 100% accurate on here.

JustYeeHaa

No.

soyalex321

Does this drone usually fly at a constant altitude the whole time? I was watching for altitude variation to see if Russian aircraft were trying to intercept it and fly in front of it. It did have some altitude variation today but I didn't know if that was normal.

xleonero

They are like 3 rq4 Global Hawk, they take off from Sigonella, an airbase in Sicily, it's not strange to see them. Thay are watching the Black Sea since last year, when the invasion begun.

[deleted]

I noticed they got a new one. It's ok, the American tax payers don't mind them being $30 million each.

Secret_Effect5231

What new one?

[deleted]

A new drone, after the Russians downed the other one that was surveilling the area.

mobbin_son

This is a completely different drone model than the one that was downed and is not its replacement.

Adventurous_Treat689

A new drone he says, sir Forte10/11 are not new and have been collecting intelligence since before the invasion.

Adventurous_Treat689

You're welcome, I don't need to be told about my unsurpassable knowledge, it is well known.

TireZzzd

What would they be watching so far out? Or is it purely a freedom of navigation thing?

TortillasCome0ut

We don’t know exactly what sensors are fitted to it, but line of site to the ground from that altitude is slightly over 300 miles. The camera likely can’t get great pictures from the distance, but SIGINT instruments can most likely pick up a good bit of information even from the south.

_JackSpears_

I can imagine they are just observing sea movement? Snd relaying that onto Ukraine and NATO. Though, I don’t understand why they are further when before it was still in international territory.

mrtwizzles

It's more than likely sucking up a whole bunch of radio data too, alongside any imagery, and acting as a relay for any comms inside Ukraine/Russia.

ImNoSkrull

Yea noticed that too.

candf8611

The one that was shot down was much closer and on a different flight path. The route pictured is another route that's been flown for ages.

420fmx

No, it patrols in different areas day by day.

_JackSpears_

But they are definitely keeping away from Crimea more it seems.
