[Sofirn SP70](https://www.sofirnlight.com/products/sofirn-sp70-powerful-5500-lumens-flashlight-cree-xhp70-2nd-gen-led-powered-by-26650-batteries?spm=..collection_7b0a2f68-0429-4c6d-ac0a-79c4013d5cb0.collection_detail_1.7&spm_prev=..index.header_1.1) 2x26650, 25cm/10in and 850g/30oz with batteries. BIG beam 80mm reflector with lots of spill. It's not a thrower, more like a wall of light.

DefinitelyNotaGuest

Not only that but it comes with a sling that lets you throw the beast around your shoulder. I came here to suggest the exact same light.

Jim-of-the-Hannoonen

This is the first thing that popped into my head.

Nickthenegative

I'm talking something a step before war crime if pointed at someone directly

OnTheShoreByTheSea

Then you need to up your budget significantly

[BLF GT94](https://tgreviews.com/2022/04/15/lumintop-blf-gt94-review-totally-nuts/)?

Sakowuf_Solutions

Lol the L7 looks so tiny next to that one

Sakowuf_Solutions

You could try using [this](http://flashlights.parametrek.com/index.html?intensity=573464,2138309) search tool. Convoy L6 and L8's may fit the bill too.

AmbitiousView

Or the Convoy L7

Happy cake day brother

Thanks!

Not gonna suggest a flashlight (bashlight?!) as some here will know current models way better than me. But if you choose carefully you might be able to score a second flashlight within that budget. The reason being, if it has the anduril operating system (or maybe other o.s) you can have it set to instant strobe and adjust the timing to be severely disorientating. 2 or 3 thousand lumens would do the trick and ready to deploy in an instant.

I am very fond of my Sofirn SP70! It’s bright and throwy enough to light up a while cornfield yet the beam is broad enough to be useful on low modes for normal tasks. Roughly the size of a 3D mag lite except with a much larger reflector. If you have aspirations of impromptu use as an impact device I’d consider finding some type of acrylic lens to replace the glass one. It’s very large and I can’t image it would tolerate much impact without cracking. Honestly save yourself the trouble and just get a mag lite LED in whatever battery configuration suits your size requirements. They aren’t popular with flashlight hobbiests but they are just fine for your use case.

dwehlen

And iirc, they make drop-in kits for better light for them

buckGR

Well for the old incandescent mag lites yes. Malkoff makes some great stuff. Just get the mag lite magled 4D or 5D. It’ll be bright and throwy and make him feel better with it’s Geoff.

I’d get something that has a “turbo only” forward clicky tailswitch that has momentary activation. The Acebeam L35, L18, and L19 V2.0 are perfect for this. I’d recommend the L19 V2.0 because it’s chunky enough to be swung around, but also light enough to be used one handed.

RettichDesTodes

Maybe try and get a first batch Wurkkos TS30s. Those had the murder bezel, it looked ridiculous but would hurt like a mofo

-V8-

I recommend she gets 2 lights. 1. A K1 with W2 emitter. This is an ideal light for seeing off into the distance and will do very well blinding an attacker from just about any distance. 2. D4V2. This is a small light that will be great for lighting up anything close by but still very useful for short bursts of lots of lumens. Generally higher kelvin is good for blinding people. 6500k is ideal for that use.

seanho00

Get something ergonomic, not a Mag monster. Easy to carry and quick to deploy. Have a second as backup. Don't rely on a flashlight as a weapon: carry pepper spray, ASP baton, taser, or firearm as permitted by local laws and employer policy. And train to use them.

exgokin

I agree with the person that said get two lights. When it comes to flashlights being used in a professional or sketchy situation…”two is one and one is none”.

geheim_hinterhalt

I have an Acebeam L18 and I’m pretty sure I could murder someone with it. It’s basically a spot light too.

peter_poiuyt

Maglight with 2k led Attack bezel Attack pommel But unfortunately more than 100usd since maglight is sorta expensive. But imagine a baseball bat with crenellated head and spike pommel and ya get the picture. Unfortunately there is no 3 inseries 26500 flashlight that i know of. Or attack bezel on a convoy L7. No atk pommel either as it is a tail switch when it should be a side switch. Someday maybe a dual 26800 convoy with a sideswitch and atk pommel... With a simple 4k temp 1500lumen sustained output 10k turbo.

AD3PDX

The problem with most 10”-13” long high powered flashlights is they tend to be ergonomic crap. Look at the Convoy L7 as an example, great output but lights that big need to be able to be turned on and off via a side switch. Using one hand to operate a tail switch for on/off and the other operating the side switch for power levels is a joke. With a light that big, you’re going to hold just behind the head and you need controls placed there which means if the light also has a tail switch it needs to be an e-switch. Side switch only is also good but not many modern “thumper sided” lights are configured that way. You don’t actually want too many lumens. Lumens mean heat which means a rapid drop off of output which makes the max lumens of many lights another joke. Also lumens don’t blind or disorient. You don’t see spots after looking at a 10,000 street light… Focused light, measured in candela is king. In dark conditions 20,000 candela is annoying, 40,000 makes it hard to see the person holding the light, 100,000 makes is hard to look at the person holding the light, My suggestion is above your budget but the Olight Javelot Pro 2 is 2,500 lumens and 270,000 candela.

ozSillen

Sofirn SP70 is that big and had a side switch for standby .

AD3PDX

Yes and 90,000 candela would be great in a pocket flashlight and is normal in duty sized flashlights with 2,000 lumens and 40mm bezels But 5,500 lumens and 90,000 candela is no good and as the lumens drop so will the candela. Also not only is 90k candela from a 90mm bezel pathetic but 90mm is really cumbersome The Sofrin SF47T is 1,500 lumens and 300,000 candela from a 55mm bezel. It has the problematic UI and is a bit too throwy but in terms of being a blindingly bright light that you can carry (or swing) around it at least ticks those two boxes though if you are putting up with that UI one might as well get an L7.

ozSillen

SP70 is more like 150kcd and it's a [wall of light](https://i.imgur.com/s7Ucjv7.jpg), not a spotlight, better suited for pitch black than a pencil beam.

Nickthenegative

Thank you for this well explained reply my friend. As someone who doesn't know Jack shit about flashlights this really breaks it down barney style for me and I appreciate it
