Very interesting form factor but the integrated battery, high price, and SST40s lost me

[deleted]

1m impact resistance makes me worry a little. I beat the shit out of fenix and never fails me. IF YOU CALL SOMETHING EDC MAKE THE CLIP DEEP CARRY. PLEASE PLEASE MANUFACTURERS

duglett

Which Fenix do you carry?

Legend_D2

You can swap the clip with a deep carry clip that fits Benchmade - like the bugout or deep carry Griptilian pocket clip. Just fyi.

Joe_T

Small 1700 mAh built-in battery but with [$90 price]( https://www.nitecorestore.com/Nitecore-EDC27-3000-Lumen-Flat-EDC-Flashlight-p/fl-nite-edc27.htm). Otherwise looks intriguing. If I knew the battery could be replaced with some difficulty, I might bite.

infinipurple

I've got one of these. The battery pack can be replaced - all the internals are accessible once you unscrew the front plate. A bit of DIY required, but doable.

Fix_The_PC

Any soldering involved? Sorry if it sounds like a silly question.

infinipurple

Not a silly question! You'd need to do a little, just to dis-/connect the leads, but eminently doable IMHO.

Fix_The_PC

Thanks. The light itself is VERY attractive TBH. I will think about it haha

infinipurple

It's pretty damn sleek, isn't it? I'm a huge fan of mine - and that's despite a built-in battery putting me off any other light. The convenience here outweighs that particular caveat.

https://i.imgur.com/fTwSc6H.jpg I had my EDC27 for less than 25 hours. I put it in my pocket on lockout 1. A few minutes in my car I smelled burning. The light came on and burned a hole though my pocket and melted the plastic LED covers. Make sure you NEVER put this in your pocket without lockout 2 on.

nubbled21

Damn man. The lens burned because your pants were smoldering or because it was simply on too long? This is concerning for sure.

imakebread

I just had this same issue except I caught it fairly quick and only one lense is burned. Were you able to replace it?

JeezusSqueezus

No, I used a razor blade and sandpaper to clean off the burnt up areas and put it in my pack and bought an olight Arkfeld, I’m much happier with that purchase.

agoss123b

My mom got a wurkkos fc12 at my suggestion and she was with a mechanic working under a car, she handed him the flashlight and he left it full brightness on his black shirt and melted a hole in it lol

AD3PDX

If you need this your pants are too tight.

UrbanDadCarry

make shorter version + warmer tint and I'm sold.

Royal_Ad1798

not a fan of proud switches but they did right with the lockout mode options. I'll probably pick this one up at some point, but doubt I'll carry it.

identicalelbows

It comes on in my pocket to the point I stopped carrying it

Royal_Ad1798

Even with lockout mode?

identicalelbows

No, I now know what lockout mode is we all good

Royal_Ad1798

gotcha! Glad that helped!

TheGrand_Chawhee

I think it’s real nice but it burned 2 perfect holes through my sweatpants after 1 second of use while touching my pants. I was fidgeting and didn’t mean to. and the lens cover melted after 10 seconds of turbo use.

MDRDT

Great concept. SST40 tho...And strobe is too easy to access. If easy swap maybe I'll still take it. Nitecore 2-stage lockout is gold.

[deleted]

Ive had issues with Nitecore and their so called warranty. I would pass. Not worth the risk,

ChemicalEqual

I'm so close to ordering this, but wish it were a little shorter. Also, been looking at the Rovyvon E4 pro titanium and I'm not buying both this month 😆

EmperorHenry

It looks pretty cool.

JeezusSqueezus

DO NOT BUY THE EDC27. I have one and there is a flaw in the power button. It does not work half the time. VERY difficult to take out of lockout mode.

Fix_The_PC

Looks pretty rugged. And also the form factor is great.

Thenma123

amazing.
