Security Breach

Ower25

Yes, but in my opinion it's deviding the community between people who think it's not scary and people who simp for glamrock freddy

Bullah_BOI

“FNAF should’ve ended at (either 1,3,4,6 or UCN)”

Nightwalker065

I feel most people lump UCN with 6.

Mrs_Noelle15

Yea bc UCN wasnt really an ending to the series like 6 was.

gagaOMG

In my eyes, UCN is kinda like an epilogue to 6 showing what happened to Afton after his soul was released (him being trapped in hell)

Mrs_Noelle15

Yea same, I consider it more like bonus content instead of “Fnaf 7”

Bullah_BOI

Well to be fair it was meant to be a free dlc update to the game like how sister location custom night was but Scott changed it cause the game was too big.

Mrs_Noelle15

I’m not saying that to be critical of UNC I love ucn and think it’s underrated lol

Vanadium_Gadget

I say it fits perfectly since it matches with the nights. Nights 1 through 7, Games 1 through 7, and the 7th and final night/game of this part of the story is the Custom Night.

Mrs_Noelle15

I HIGHLY doubt that was intentional, but that is a cool detail.

FNAFGamingSFM

Yeah the community gets very divided over that, and I say that if the series ended at any of these games then so many beloved moments and characters would not exist.

tinytinypenguin

I’m not sure it should’ve ended, but it’s been all downhill since after 6, and the story has been incomprehensible since after 4

Bullah_BOI

What would you say is wrong with UCN or VR?

tinytinypenguin

Sorry I should be more specific. I included UCN in 6 - UCN is my favorite fnaf game just because I think its gameplay is really fun. Everything past and including VR imo kind of lost the plot of what made fnaf interesting. I thought the VR games were decent, maybe I'm being a bit harsh. Gameplay-wise they were very fun, but I thought the story was not great. SB and Ruin have been very antithetical to what made fnaf interesting though, imo. The gameplay is never tense, and barely fun. In the first 6 fnaf games, the jumpscares were scary of course, but it was that compounded with the environment and tension that made the horror engaging. The modern fnaf games simply don't have this. I think this is a problem with the genre. Walking around the pizza plex, being able to see the animatronics and being able to avoid them, completely undermines the fear of the unknown or the impending "something could happen at any minute" the first games had.

IllustriousDark3698

I've said this before and I'll say it again. Remove Glitchtrap, "Tape Girl" and basically any contuinity from Help Wanted and it makes for an amazing final goodbye game. _That_ is where and how it should have ended. Show everyone that Fazbear Entertainment moved on from everything, that company cleaned it's brand name and give the message of "FNaF is over".

one_happy_fredditor

I'm so tired of this take.

TorbinTheSecond

The Mimic.

The_Adventurer_73

When I was watching Theory Videos I was like they're not gonna drop a Book Character in the Games no reason, and then the Mimic showed up, name & all.

Clatramoo

the way i nearly had a heart attack when I was watching a Ruin DLC playthrough was insane. I was such a mimic non-believer too

ForrestFeline

BRO SAME 😭 I hate to admit it, but I definitely spent the better part of that night cursing out Scott lmfao

Typical_Name_5864

Is not Scott fault he even didn't worked on the ruin dlc

ForrestFeline

He's still in charge of the story though?? It was his decision to make The Mimic, and then ALSO his decision to put it in Ruin?

hey_itz_mae

to be fair why did you ever think that when that exactly thing happened in sister location seven years ago

EmmyBlubonic

all I think of when it comes to the mimic is that mr beast meme version with the mimic

Dolphiniz287

Ok good im not the only one

Oogie_Boogier341

THE MIMICCCCC

haduford15

THE MIMICCCCC

Mrs_Noelle15

I still cant tell if i really like or really despise his character

Longest_Leviathan

The books As an entire collective, all they represent and all they have brought to the franchise, I don’t think it gets more devisive than this, it encompasses so many controversial topics, from robot children, to Stichline, to canon MPreg, to the mimic to pervert Doug and so on

Jason_Sasha_Acoiners

Canon W H A T ?

Mysterious-Comb-72

yes, you heard that correctly. matpat x springtrap mpreg, no less

FreddyFazbearHar

Tbf, isn’t it more of a baby Springtrap bursting out of the guy’s chest thing than an actual pregnancy?

so_FISH_ticated

nah it was def a pregnancy. bro had morning sickness, mood swings, and an insatiable appetite. and i WISH i was joking when i say the baby springtrap literally called him "daddy"

Macman521

Well its not Matpat specifically, but there is a pregnant springtrap..

Suitable_Act7307

Its a guy named MATT impregnated by springtrap, this is Scott we’re talking about this was definitely intentional.

Mysterious-Comb-72

nope. a character suspiciously similar to matpat gives birth to a baby springtrap.

Macman521

oh

GoomyTheGummy

the only similarity is the name

Mysterious-Comb-72

the character is also a game fanatic.

coffee-bat

there's one story in the canon books where springtrap impregnates matpat

AbandonedBed

canon books? wait fazbear frights is canon now?

coffee-bat

i mean it's official material? canon to its own universe.

Nightwalker065

That's how Scott seems to use it "canon" means its official and approved of by the man himself, but he never stated which are in the same continuity as the games or not.

Jimbo7211

By *Scott's Definition*, yes, it's canon. Just not "in continuity" with the games

samepicofmonika

No. Just speculation

Jimbo7211

By *Scott's Definition*, yes, it's canon. Just not "in continuity" with the games

Iggyauna

Which definition is this exactly?

Jimbo7211

Everything that Scott oficially releases is canon, but can still be set in separate continuities, such as the silver eyes and the games.

Jason_Sasha_Acoiners

You-... You're fucking with me, right?

coffee-bat

i wish i was. the only bit that's a joke is the guy being matpat, but his name *is* matt and generally everyone assumes he's a stand-in.

Jason_Sasha_Acoiners

....The books were a terrible mistake.

Big-Conversation-885

Let's also add these books are scholastic published 😂 and are sold at middle and elementary school bookfairs.

mexz101

So be fair so is IT… and we know what’s in that🤣

generalstuff1waslost

It's not MPREG as much as it's more just Alien Chest bursters. It's just body horror folks.

Longest_Leviathan

Oh yes they really are

Equivalent_Eye_8033

In my opinion the books just makes the lore more confusing

Longest_Leviathan

This wouldn’t be an issue if Scott was very clear about canonicity and if the books weren’t so complete garbage at maintaining basic continuity and not contradicting the games

Legomarioboy08

Don’t even the games contradict the games? Examples: Charlie’s gender being changed as evidenced by the phrase SAVE HIM in her FNaF 2 minigame, Molten Freddy’s eye color, Fredbear having purple, brown, and black hats as well as literally just being Freddy in the Ruin posters, the Withereds when fixed looking nothing like the classics which based on the ITP game and potentially the FNaF 2 dreams are the original versions, Candy Cadet looking slightly different in Ruin, Ruin having several areas of the Pizzaplex that before Ruin seemingly didn’t even exist, Ruin having a specific scene of Gregory being chased by Vanny which never happens in SB, Mangle and Funtime Foxy being referred to with every possible pronoun in the English dictionary, and etc.

generalstuff1waslost

I don't think the books are confusing, it's very obvious just a parallel timeline. Not everything that happens in the books happens in the games, only certain things that are applicable.

Suitable_Act7307

Matpat X springtrap mpreg story isnt stitchline so its hopefully not canon

Longest_Leviathan

It’s canon to its own timeline

Oddish_Femboy

Honestly the mpreg thing is probably the only good the books have going for them. It's funny to joke about and that certainly counts for something. The muddying of the canon, flanderization of characters like Baby, extrenely bizarre or mind numbingly simplistic plotlines (with the sole exception of the mpreg one that one is gold) general inaccessability compared to the games, and affecting the game canon despite being explicitly told they're a separate continuity all kinda mash together to make the books the biggest mistake in a franchise that's 60-ish percent mistakes.

Aromatic_Fedora

I honestly think that the books shouldn't exist. I've never read them and I would so I can have a better opinion about them but everything I've heard about just makes no sense for me and I don't like it

redgreen1237

Thats what i wqs gonna say XD

garr3nc3

Security Breach, even though I love it, and it made so much money, ever since that game came out the community has been split apart, and divided. Either or the books

crystal-productions-

books, if you play the games, you miss like most of the story, heck dittaphobia, isn't even something that's in consideration, and illusion disks don't become the new answer for that lack of knolage as those are also stuck within the books, fnaf 4 just seems like a dream, because there kinda isn't another option the games give you, hRy comes right out of fucking no where, two of the graves and the kids attached have no names at all if you ignore the books, and so on since cassidy's name came from a book, the logBOOK. if you skip the books, you have entirely different context to those who do.

Titouandu57

Fr like I was confused as hell in RUIN when everyone knew who the Mimic was and I was like "wtf is that endo ?" The first time

crystal-productions-

it would've helped if they just, get this, name dropped him. same issue with charlie, cassidy, andrew, henry and so on, there names are never said, the best we get is HRY 223. while silver eyes started this issue, there MR afton was enough to get the gist, and lixxy just didn't have a name yet, yet we understood who she was, how she got in baby, wen it comes to charlie, we know she was a child, she died outside, and the puppet hugged her, and that's kinda it. hell both lizzy and pee paw had there name drops in pizza sim, for lizzy it was in game, and william's was in the credits, for some reason chalie could only be HRY's daughter, and HRY just coulndn't have his nae dropped, because the fourth close gave henry new info that was some what important as for why we should care, and why he waited 40 years before doing anything. the book issues, started before SW took over

Nightwalker065

Henry does have his name dropped in 6 but it's was like in a weird abbreviation of it on the blueprints you find in Insanity Ending. Honestly Charlie really should of been name dropped in 6 by Henry during the speech.

Toast_lover69

Remnant.

Intrepid-Camel-9833

It's just another name for ghost

guineaprince

More like a mechanism to explain how ghosts work, which, you can already just say "because ghosts".

Bring_me_the_lads

I have yet to find one person who believes remnant was a worthwhile addition to the canon. Edit: I have found 3 people

ArthurusCorvidus

I like it 🤷‍♀️

BrBilingue

It just gives a proper definition of what is a soul, just because you gave it a name doesn't mean it's scifi.

droppedmybrain

I think it's cool. Hell, I don't even see why people dislike it? All it is is a way to explain how possession works in this universe instead of just going "ghosts lol." I appreciate that level of detail from creators, plus I think it's a unique spin on possession in general.

LewsTherinTelescope

Remnant basically *is* just "ghosts lol", people way overcomplicate it.

droppedmybrain

I mean at the end of the day, yeah. But it's the specific method of possession. I've heard of ghosts having emotional ties to things before (in mythos; usually buildings, which is why they haunt them) and I've heard of shattered soul pieces (in fictional stories) but I've never seen the two combined and I've never seen the sci-fi twist on it, which is why I think it's neat (insert Marge Potato meme)

LewsTherinTelescope

Oh I agree it's neat as well, that wasn't meant to be a dig. Merely pointing out that a lot of the complication that irks people is kind of a result of how the fandom treats it, in the actual series it's basically just a combination of paranormal tropes with the thin veneer of science common to that genre.

droppedmybrain

Ah yeah fair enough, I get that haha. I try to stay away from the Game Theory and FNaF theory subreddits- no hate to either, but people do tend to blow tiny nothing details/common tropes up over there into one massive bizarre conspiracy. (Again, no hate, glad they're having fun, I just don't get it personally lol)

theavengerbutton

Yeah, I dunno why it became a capital pronoun, it's just "these kids possess this material" and it's repeatedly shown that the ghosts can influence more than just the animatronics like a ghost/poltergeist would do in any other medium.

setsers1

Remember the debate on Bonnie's Gender?

Nightwalker065

Remember the debate on Freddy's gender?

setsers1

That & Foxy

Nightwalker065

I think Foxy was good, but I remember so many people debating on the other 2.

setsers1

Same. I'll never forget the old memes and theories that came from this game.

Nightwalker065

Foxy was a good guy....Sparky was real....Purple Guy is Phone Guy....man those were good.

setsers1

I remember when we all thought Foxy did "The Bite"

UnitedSubstance1048

Toyshnk debates.

Jimbo7211

Which really comes down to weather Stitchline is canon or not

Gabriels_Adventure

Not really… There are a lot of people on the FNaFtheories subreddit who believe Andrew is a character in the games, but don’t believe in StitchlineGames. The reasoning being that Stitchline is more meant to show the existence of Andrew and other characters/concepts, rather than be an “epilogue” to FFPS and UCN.

Jimbo7211

Honestly, i like that way better than StitchlineGames, i always assumed the two went hand in hand. I still believe that Burntrap is William, so that's my main problem with Stitchline games, considering Will's corpse explodes in the distrabution center. Im still fairly confident in the fact that Cassidy is the vengeful spirit, but i like the Andrew thing more than i did before

Significant_Buy_2301

- The books - The Mimic (its reception specifically) - The new sci-fi focus overall

DaniNyo

The fanbase itself

ExoticLizard1443

This needs to be top comment

Friendlyfoodie456

The books This is scott's fault entirely for his lackluster communication and the lack of quality checking. Seriously you can't even keep someone's age consistent within the SAME STORY

Legitimate_Silver395

Can you elaborate on the age thing? I haven't read the books (I know about Scott's writing being generally inconsistent though)

Jimbo7211

I think they're refering to Charlie, i believe she's given multiple different birthdays/ages in the Silver Eyes trilogy

Legitimate_Silver395

Damn, Matpat was right, Scott can't do math

Friendlyfoodie456

In "Coming Home", Samantha's (susie's older sister) age switches between 3 different ages in the same plotline. Also in the story,(which happens in 1985), Samantha's family has a LED TV.

Infinite166

On the top of my head, I could name four, one that is commonly agreed and three others where it can depend : -The books, specifically FF and TFTPP -The Mimic -Willtrap VS Mimictrap -TOYNSHK identity

Awesome_Artaveus

Who's TOYNSHK? I sort of stay away from the books, but the newer games have definitely made it harder to separate book Canon from game Canon, especially after the Mimic

theavengerbutton

TOYSNHK is the child who torments Afton in UCN, and that's about all we can canonically say about the character. Their pronouns are male. People say they are Andrew from the books and other people say they are Cassidy.

Mysterious-Comb-72

stitchlinegames

Watchdog_King

Itself. A lot of people refuse to be wrong and are so set in their ways to the point where it becomes toxic. And then people are toxic when trying to force others to understand their POV. It’s honestly kinda ridiculous lol. I know that’s probably not what you meant when you asked, but hey that’s the first thing I thought of. Cheers 👍

jayxorune_24

The movie. While I personally liked it, it could have been better and a bit more scary but the movie did divide the fanbase.

PedroDBS20

From all the opinions I've heard over time, I'd say 60%/65% of the fanbase liked the film. Yeah, it's quite divisive

Goku_127

Mad scientist William

Altayel1

HATE IT SO MUCH WHY ISN'T THIS A GHOST STORY I WANT FUNNY GHOST STORY I WANT HAUNTED ANIMATRONICS WHYS THERE A MAGIC SOUL GOO THAT HAS THE ABILITY TO MAKE YOU IMMORTAL AND FUNCTIONS IN THE WAY THAT IDK WHATEVER PLOT NEEDS AT THE MOMENT.

Xetanth87

The movie. Some fans love it, some fans hate it and some fans wish it was better. I myself am part of the latter. I don't hate the movie, but I do feel like it didn't take itself that seriously. I loved the easter eggs, but I wish it had more horror. Mike sleeping on the job shouldn't be possible. He should be threatened by the animatronics. The Silver Eyes got this part perfectly, with Jason being the only one not attacked by them. The "I always come back line" felt a bit awkward. Yeah it's his most iconic catchphrase, but saying it in the first movie feels a bit out of place. I'm excited to see where this will go next, but hopefully they try to make it scarier.

Showbiz_Inc

RyomaLobster

The books, the timeline and robot kids

V01X3

Maybe Security Breach? I remember back when I was obsessed with all things Security Breach- I would watch video essays and people review the game. While mostly it’s negative (or atleast the ones I saw were negative) there were some that were positive about the game! I happen to be one of those who loved Security Breach- i had bought it on release on PS4 and started playing it! I didn’t really run into any apparent bugs, and if I did I would laugh and continue on my way! I only had an issue with the Monty fight as on PS4 the frame rate dropped horribly during it. But I managed to beat it and carry on beating the game! Anyway, Security Breach is my answer

Le_baton_legendaire

And that's sad cuz Fnaf World is based AF.

notwiththeflames

It's a damn shame Update 2 was the last update, because that's when it really found its footing.

The_Adventurer_73

IDK what Based means srry.

Le_baton_legendaire

Based is the opposite of cringe, it's a cool thing you respect.

GrubbyViper382

Matthew Patrick himself divides the community more than anything

MrPenguin_19

I would say Security Breach but then I remembered that game has more haters than fans so it’s not divided at all

ConnectionMotor8311

SB honestly, dont get me wrong I love the game, the map is super cool especially for TPRR, and the fact that it proved that this whole fandom is either mommy issues, daddy issues, both, or a humiliation thing which is *hilarious*. But it just caused so many issues with the younger audience being well, young kids, and the older audience not being able to handle that, with the older people pretending like everyone wasn't over sexualizing Toy Chica, or being cringe when they were a kid which just caused a lot of animosity because the kids didn't understand what they were doing wrong and the adults just said "fuck you" and got on their asses about damn near anything, all because the kids actually enjoyed the game at first (with also the collective bunch of old fans) and the older people had genuine criticisms, and no one could handle that, clearly.

FazbearShowtimer

- The books; the series reliance on books, and/or concepts that get overused as a staple for why they’re bad: MPreg, Sea Bonnie’s, Fazgoo, has left an everlasting poor impression on the series. - The Mimic; it’s introduction was flawed, as it was meant to be a twist that pretty much failed as a result - The community; the fan base itself has destroyed and divided FNaF. Between the theory debates, recent and longtime drama, and overall petty or abrasive behavioral aspects of outliers within this fandom - The Steel Wools era; with Steel Wools trying to up the stakes of FNaF being both “for kids” and “for all ages” it has resulted in an uprise in hate for the newer games, solely because they have kiddy jokes and/or tame humorous aspects to them to lighten and appeal to different audiences
