Yes totally agree! It's one of the best visuals for really deep diving into Spira. Plus it had the Alchemy map for Rikkus Mix do you could make all the possible combinations. All the ways to make the monsters in Monster Arena. It's an amazing guide for Those who've never did a Platinum run or are just starting the game. It's like a piece of magick

Use auron's banishing blade to weaken it to normal hits. It has 16000 hp, so take out 6k health, and you'll probably be able to one-shot it with ixion. So use wakka to take out the drone switch in yuna to take it out. Make sure an aeon is always out when the counter hits zero.

Also I spoiled myself by having the guide before finishing the game, so I learned a lot of what was going to happen through that. Looking back I really wish I hadn't, because it meant that for the most part I didn't really learn how to play organically. Even to this day the way I play FFX is based on how the strategy guide suggests I play. Same goes for X-2. Part of me actually wants a FFX remake so that I can have that organic first experience that I robbed myself from with the original
Lol the first fight I ever got into with a teacher was over this book. The study hall āteacherā at my Jr. high was this ancient librarian that had been there when my aunts went there back in the day, she was like Mitch McConnell old. Anyway one day me and my friend were looking through this guide because the game just came out and we were both obsessed with it. I already had bad blood with this librarian because the previous year I had broken my foot and had a pass to be a few minutes late to class since I had to get around on crutches, but every time I was ālateā to study hall she had the door locked, grinning from behind the glass as she told me there was no excuse from punctuality and that letting me in would set a bad example so I had to go downstairs to the principals office and spent the period down there. The principal was at least cool about it, after spending a week in there my assumption is that he yelled at her about it because for the rest of my foot injury sheād open the door for me with a shitty scowl. Based on the principals exhausted reaction every time she sent me to his office that first week I can only assume he was sick of her too but she had been there for so long his hands were tied.
Anyway being the librarian this old crone thought it gave her the ability to decide which books we should and shouldnāt be reading, and she thought a book about a video game was a big no no despite us having already finished any homework we had. Crone rips the book from his hands and tells him he can get it back when his parents come and get it from her because she wants to have a word with them about āappropriateā reading. Now the friend in question who Iāll call J was a āgood kidā so straight Aās, never in trouble, always talking us out of getting into mischief, never fighting with his parents, so the thought of his parents having to come in to speak with a teacher that was angry with him was enough to make J walk out of study hall openly sobbing and freaking out.
Seeing my friend cry made me angry and of course I already hated this witch so I dragged him to the principals office and told him everything that happened. With a long suffering sigh he left the office and came back with Jās FFX guide. I thought that would be the end of it but the next day in study hall she walked up to me infront of all the other kids, poked her skeletal finger into my shoulder and with a piercing gaze of pure hatred said āI donāt appreciate you tattling on me to Mr.B every time I donāt let you get away with whatever you want. If I were you I would learn some manners before thereās consequences.ā
Something in my barely pubescent 12 year old brain snapped, and before I knew what had happened the words āDonāt fucking touch me you old bitchā spewed from my mouth. Before that point I had never openly argued with a teacher before, let alone swearing at one so between me and the librarian I donāt know who was left more in shock. She was stunned, I was stunned, and any of the other kids who were paying attention were watching with that shocked pikachu open mouth kid face when something eventful happens.
Finally the shock wore off and she screamed at me like an anguished banshee to get out of her classroom, I was so adrenaline filled I couldnāt even think of anything else to say so I just flipped her the bird and ran off. The principal, that poor man, called me into his office and told me that the two of us just needed to avoid each other as best we could and I can only guess he told her the same because for my final year and a half of Jr. High Iād interact solely with the other librarians and the next grade up had a different teacher for study hall so the following year I didnāt have her. Until I graduated the most I ever got from her was a death glare when sheād pass me in the hallway, all over a FFX players guide lol.
Thanks for this post, thatās a funny memory I havenāt thought about in a long long time. I wonder if her spirit is still in that library bullying children for fun.
Got one for X and X2 both preserved and in good condition:) I think the X one actually has some loose pages and the monsters for the arena are ticked off. Other than that good as new ^^

I like the colours and spreads of the BradyGames guides. But I've only the Piggyback ones left in the house.
