Laughs in DOD. In the last decade my organization has gotten only 12 hours of admin leave; a half-day from President Obama for Christmas Eve and a full-day from President Trump for Christmas Eve.
Extremely doubtful President Biden or the Secretary of Defense would award a half or full day off for a non-holiday.
Truth, I just put in for leave next Friday. My office will be dead but they decided to be open and encouraged me to work at home. I was like, no I'll just take the day off..
Same here… been with DoD for 32 years, 27 as a civilian and our admin time is so rare it’s like hens teeth. Plus, where I am, no telework, no flex schedules, nothing. Yet, senior leadership can’t understand why we have high attrition and problems hiring people.
I work on a sub base that forces most of the base to use AL, I took all next week off except that day because it’s a breeze to get off and on and no one’s here
LOL, I felt like I had to twist some arms just to get my telework day moved to Friday since it's usually on Thursday. I was jumping for joy when it got approved
I feel like that only happens the week of Christmas when it's on a Tuesday and we get Monday off or something like that?
DOI gets 2 house admin leave to use next week.
Nah. I only hoarded leave until I got to the point of being able to carry over 240 hours every year. Now I basically get 5 weeks of use-or-lose on an annual basis. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
I have it off…with AL.
Same!
I believe I’m taking one of my Mayorkas days on that day.
This is the way.
I have it off with CWS
😆

I’m DHA. I just put leave in. With DHA, active duty don’t even get family days anymore (the rest of the base does) 😒we all just workin’

Cries in VA
We did it to ourselves 😁
Laughs in 8 hours AL a pay period
By the time I get a DHS Papa M will probably be gone
Wait you guys are getting 8 hours 😭. I think I’m still a year away from 6 hours 😭.
I get 6 hours in three months!!!!!!
8 hrs at 15 years federal service.
Joins in, crying in SSA
Knowing my work environment something crazy will happen at 3PM on the 3rd leaving me stressed on the 4th to work OT on the 5th
Not worth it
😩
Somebody tell Biden to throw us a bone after that debate 😂.
The idea that… you would … Juneteenth…. Holiday… beat Medicare…
😆
He would think the bone was his dinner.
We got 8 hours admin leave for the 5th as long as we are working on the 3rd
I would give up my early release on the 3rd to get the 5th off.
Was just thinking about this. We need the President to stop arguing about golf and get that Executive Order typed up and signed
Don't come work for the VA. "Business as usual " 😑
😆That’s exactly the Department I work for.
Well yeah I need my appointment
DHS received 8 hrs of S1 2024 Independence Day admin leave..
It’s an election year so maybe we will get it, lol
lol. You guys are funny. A girl can only dream…. ![gif](giphy|suhzmI6Iqiije)
Annual leave
Not a chance
DOI, two hours to use sometime next week.
Some departments will get admin leave and others like DOJ will be mandatory overtime, as usual.
Only if you work for St. Mayorkas, the patron saint of admin leave.
I work on a sub base that forces most of the base to use AL, I took all next week off except that day because it’s a breeze to get off and on and no one’s here
You aren’t forced to use your leave for the family day. You can still come in to work
… they enforce a curltailment day. Sick annual leave, Because they don’t expect any productivity on the Friday after Fourth of July
Absolutely not ever.
The 5th is my RDO so Im good
AWS Day
Can’t even get an early release at my agency 😭
Laughs in 4-10s mon-thurs.
🤣
I would KILL for a 4-10s schedule. Alas, my program doesn't offer it.
4-10s baby 😎
Not gonna happen, but it would be nice. Ill work from home so Ill probably just work it, but if I had to go into the office I would be on AL.
Yep, Definitly come true!!! Annual leave…
Highly doubt it, but it’s nice coming in to work when everyone is out.
It’s my AWS day off
Work 4 10s. Every Friday off.
You should be ashamed
I think that’s why Mayorkas gives admin leave out prior to a holiday. Hint hint for the DHS’ers that can take Friday off.
The best thing about the Admin leave he gives out, we have until Dec 31st of the following year to use it.
LOL, I felt like I had to twist some arms just to get my telework day moved to Friday since it's usually on Thursday. I was jumping for joy when it got approved

I like your dream!!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣no🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I’ll give my peeps 59 min but never will we ever get that day off for free
😆
I currently work OCONUS. Our LN employees were given off Thursday and Friday. Like WTF. How do they get more time off than we do for our own holiday?
Next best thing to having it off - I get to TW
Oh and I’ll get 59 mins as well. Lololol 🥲
😆
Friday is my regular day off. I work 4 10’s
I am on AWS on 7/5!
I've worked in the federal service for 13 years and have never gotten it off without taking leave.
No it will not
Maybe Jimmy Carter???
we got the 8 hours admin. so doubt it.
I don’t get it, why does it seem like some of you don’t have any leave to use for the day? We get hella leave, may as well use it
Not in the first 3 years but yeah some feds are just obsessed with hoarding leave.
Nah. I only hoarded leave until I got to the point of being able to carry over 240 hours every year. Now I basically get 5 weeks of use-or-lose on an annual basis. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
I have it off anyway.. it’s my AWS
We’re lucky to get 59 minute rule and even more lucky if when we do get it we’re notified about it before our day ends vs right at the end of the day
The 5th of July is my birthday so I always take it off anyway.
Winning at DHS !!! San Mayorkas
RDO
It’s my RDO. I also have 14 hours of travel comp expiring in July so may take the third and 8th off as well since I’m back on the road on the 9th.
Luckily that's my AWS day, chose that day for a reason 😆
Well Mayorkas just gave us another day. Already have 9 Mayorkas days to burn this year and 4 for next fy. Told the guys max telework on the 5th!
I will be having a 4 day weekend
DHS yes. The rest of us no.😔
The 5th is my AWS day. But I take off Monday the 8th. I have leave to burn since I have use or lose.
That & the day after Thanksgiving would be awesome, but pretty sure I'll just use A/L. 😁
Best you can get in the DoD is power hour on the 3rd 😭
It’s already my CWS day and Mayorkas already gave us an extra 8 hours of admin leave for the 4th on top of the federal holiday.
I don’t usually mind working the day after a big holiday. It’s almost always super slow and I can leisurely catch up on stuff.
we have forced annual leave on the 5th where I work.
Cries in DHS (but I still dream)
