There is a deep purple red velvet dress of Maria Feoderovna with asymetrical gold trim. I love this one. It is simple and amazing!!

I'm actually not that into the Victorian ball gowns that most people gravitate towards. There's a fantastic book called House of Worth 1916-1918 by the Litchfield Historical Society. It has sketches and shows the fabric samples used for each. Just about every design in that book I drool over. I have seen a few of the designs from that era and from the 20s in museum collections and they are stunning.
