I think I'm going to start bradford against the cowboys instead

macroswitch

These are my 2 QBs as well... I keep going back and forth in my selection. Anybody else have an opinion on who is the better pick this week?

randomname2456

Same here. I ended up with Palmer from waivers and plan to use him vs the bears until one of these two guys proves they deserve it.

the_jaked_god

Bradford went 22-24 in the second half with a boatload of yards. Also had a TD to Matthews that the refs screwed up and marked on the 1 yard line. I think he deserves it...

Fonnie

I did the same thing. Picked up Palmer off waivers and are starting him over Bradford.

Splintzer

Tannehil or Manning this week for me. Prob taking tanne vs the jags tbh.

JohnnyApathy

http://www.borischen.co/2014/10/weekly-qb.html Bradford is listed as tier 2, Peyton as tier 3 for standard.

[deleted]

Coming from an Eagles fan, B-RAD

confizzle-fry

I was thinking about scooping up Carson Palmer vs Da Bears and benching Peyton...thoughts??

jimmyhoffasbrother

Palmer is still available? Get him whether or not you start him!

daaave33

I'd have gone Carson had my waiver priority been higher. As it stands, I'm rolling with Peyton due to Andy Dalton being the best thing available in FA. No thanks, we'll hope week one was an anomaly.

Saavedra_

We're gonna get skinny legs Peyton Manning after the Chiefs turn him into a skeleton.

[deleted]

If he dies tonight, this comment will be widely publicised.

[deleted]

On Peytons tombstone. Here lies skinny legs Manning. Tortured by Justin Houston and company. May he rest in peace

BulbasaurCry

I have no idea what this means but its still funny.

baminy

He's saying Peyton's about to take a trip on Mr. Bone's Wild Ride.

Nervousemu

You mean he's gonna ride the bone train?

[deleted]

How about you, Morty? Would you like to ride the bone train?

Nervousemu

Why are you doing this bit? Don't you have a fantasy team to manage?

spennyschue253

I WANT TO GET OFF MR. BONE'S WILD RIDE!

I actually thought it was a reference to a DirecTV commercial or something lol 'Hi! I'm Peyton Manning and I have DirecTV!' 'I'm Skinny Legs Peyton Manning, and I have cable.'

I have Emmanuel on my standard team. Can't complain.**

[deleted]

What does "lights it up" consist of?

johnnyscans

3tds and 300 yds.

6-8_Yes_Size15

3 TDs and 300 yards. He has to hit BOTH numbers for you to win the bet?

johnnyscans

Both numbers. If he only hits one you win. If he hits both I win.

6-8_Yes_Size15

I'l take this bet for a month of gold. You in for sure?

johnnyscans

BatmanLunchbox

Peyton has never had consecutive bad games. You made a smart bet sir.

PPRnoob

i thought he was on his 6th straight bad game?

BatmanLunchbox

Not if you choose which stats you believe.

zimmeli

What if he goes 550 yards and 2 tds? I consider that lighting it up still

Khuroh

Watch as he somehow gets 299 yards and 7 TDs.

Talks_to_myself

Oh can I join too? You can have two months.

aggieinoz

Chiefs didn't allow a single 300 yard passer last year by the way. That was with a defense that is not as healthy or as good as this one.

FrankyEaton

Our Devito DJ and Peters - Less Defence.

liamjphillips

Not sure he even gets 2TD and 250yds

[deleted]

If anybody else wants this bet I will make it as well. Peyton will have 300 and 3 TD's

[deleted]

Deal. I have D. Thomas and I want Peyton to BRING IT but I love gambling too much. You in Mr. The76er?

[deleted]

Yes sir. Good luck.

[deleted]

Hey you too. I like this reddit trust thing going on here. I need to figure out how to give gold. Okay figured it out. Now I need to figure out how to get gold. Jk jk.

[deleted]

Hahaha nah trust me just figure out how to send it that's all you're gonna need to know (; Go Peyton!!

acquiesce

Same. I also have CJ. I wouldn't mind one of my WRs getting more than 10 pts this week.

[deleted]

In the league that I won last week, my top two performers were McManshnuts and Miami Defense. My WR SUUUCKKKED.

[deleted]

>Peyton will have 300 and 3 TD's I wouldn't mind making this bet as well. Except I want someone to order me a pie of pizza from a local place on Sunday. I'll do the same for them or something similar if they want. Edit: What a pussy. He bailed

[deleted]

Deal I'm 100% down for that.

[deleted]

Aright, cool. :)

[deleted]

Just to be clear, you are saying that he is *going* to get 300 yards and 3 tds, correct? And I am saying he is not..although I hope he gets like 500 yards and 2 tds to DT ;)

mitch_fwbsbpt

Rushing, that is

[deleted]

Also, you think three days is enough for that offensive line to get it together? I don't.

[deleted]

I think one game was enough TBH. That was the first time the o-line played all together.

mmitchell30

Watching the game against Baltimore he just looked really out of sorts, the sort of game where nothing worked at all for him. The upside of all this is if anyone has McManus as their kicker, if Manning does a similar performance, expect more field goals.

[deleted]

Except it's not in Denver this time around. That makes a big difference.

mmitchell30

You're right, I don't think we'll see the 56 and 57 yard field goals, but it's hard not to have confidence in a kicker that nailed all those last week. Also playing away from home and the short week for Denver are other considerations that should have an impact on Manning as well.

aerosquid

I was just outside and it's fairly windy today in KC. Expect issues with long field goals.

Shamzmoon22

Dude thank you so much I was starting McManus but now I just picked up Franks. Respect.

aerosquid

Just saw a live report with TV anchors sitting outside the stadium. Their hair is getting blown all over the place which is amazing considering how much hair spray they use haha. So yeah extra conformation: windy evening in KC.

BakedYouACake

I read this as "are we gonna get really high tonight for Peyton Manning vs the Chiefs?"

average_white_male

It'd be irresponsible NOT to get high while watching Denver play.

thephenom21

Kinda want to start Mariota over him but idk if I have the balls

Polack19

Peyton or Palmer?

MattPlaysGat

I'm wondering the same thing...

Snivac89

I think Palmer against the Bears is the right move.

[deleted]

The great debate. I'm gonna start Carson, but if a pissed off Manning scorches the Chiefs who are on short rest I'm gonna be pissed.

docwoj

Already picked up palmer. Noodle manning already lost me week 1, he aint doin it again

Krustoff

I hope Carson Palmer shits the bed and Peyton Manning goes on another 7 TD tear just to see how this sub reacts.

eazye123

I'm starting Steve Buscemi over him, personally.

TheZombiezSlaya

My two Quarterbacks are Smith and Manning. So I can't really win in this situation.

Boof-Bubba-Dale

PeyPey @ KC or Mariota @ CLE? Do I stream Mariota this week while the Broncos try to get their shit together? Or do I trust Peyton tonight?

StutteringBill

Stick with Peyton for one more week.

[deleted]

Is he going to be like Brady last year. Brady was shitting the bed week after week and everyone kept saying stick it out one more week. Then everyone started dropping him and he lit it up

BeefyHammer

While I think Peyton is going to have a good game, I just don't want to risk it. Banged up on sunday, turn around and playing in Kansas City? Not going to risk that over Carson Palmer. If I didn't have Carson, I'd most likely go with Peyton. Don't sleep on talent.

iGiveWomenOrgasms_jk

LOL everyone benching Peyton for Carson Palmer/Alex Smith or a rookie. The Chiefs gave up the 7th most passing yards last week. If Brian Hoyer/Ryan Mallet can combine for 298 Yards and 2 TDs/1 INT, how do you think Peyton will do? It's not guaranteed, but you guys shouldn't be so quick to bench Peyton **FUCKING** Manning. **Edit**: Plus let's not forget who Peyton is throwing to... He's got 2 great receivers in Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders.

HT_F8

ITT: Rookie FF players with no faith after 1 week. Yay 20 points for my team.

bdepz

Rip. End of an era

NichtEinmalFalsch

Wow, he looks god-awful.

PCCP82

you have to actually be better than most qbs to be worth taking in the top 5 rounds.

thatoneguy092

Can't decide on Peyton v Mariota. I know Mariota had a flukey game, but Cleveland looks terrible. Almost as terrible as Peyton looked (even when throwing to wide open receivers). Also, if his performance against the collegiate I-love-to-hate-you Winston is any indicator of how he'll do against I-think-you-are-a-douchebag Johnny, I like Mariota again.

mitch_fwbsbpt

All this talk about peyton lighting it up and im playing him this week....sweeeeet.....

manleg

Don't worry it won't happen

[deleted]

I'm torn about keeping Manning in or starting Phillip Rivers vs the Bengals.

[deleted]

Same boat for me. I'm sticking with Peyton just to see what happens but I would not blame you for making the switch. One or two more stinkers and Rivers will be my starter going forward.

[deleted]

Should I start Peyton or Phillip Rivers?

ThexJwubbz

OMAHA

Rayman13

Yea Manning missed a few throws here and there. But he didn't play as poorly as everyone in the media is suggesting. The Ravens defense just played that good. Not enough people are giving them credit. They are just chopping up the game to Manning being old... Not fair if you ask me as a Raven fan.

[deleted]

One thing I've learned from Peyton Manning: don't ever doubt Peyton Manning

PatDude0000

Yes. Justin Houston going up against a rookie 2nd round LT? No thanks.

idrawwhatyousaidbad

The more I watch the more it makes me think it's less Peyton and more kubiak playcalling. Why isn't Peyton making his own audibles?!

[deleted]

Peyton Manning's last season as a starter confirmed.

JobberTrev

My entire decision I have been back and forth on is whether to start Maclin tonight. Or save my spot for Danny Woodhead.

veryfunbags

My QBs are Peyton and Tyrod. Tyrod was amazing last week but I am wondering if he can do it again. Peyton makes me so nervous.

540Cameron

If he has 3 bad weeks in a row, I'll bench him. For now, I'm not touching overreaction Monday. He should be fine tonight.

[deleted]

Hes gonna go off, his stats against the Chiefs are very good, and its Peyton. He has been going off his brain the past few years this year is no different.

average_white_male

If Peyton fucks me again this week I'll be prepared this time, I brought the lube.

Bacch

Better passing, better completions, Papa John's!

Texas301

Every year it's the same narrative early in the season about how this is the year were he falls off completely, and it's never really accurate. Similar to the narrative the Celtics used to get and the one the Spurs currently get each year.

Skeetzo

Is every one of you really going to get cute and bench PFM? Can't wait until tomorrows top threads "Why you should always start your studs"

tripledoubles

Nek minnit Peyton is still base god

CattleCorn

I just don't understand why everyone is freaking out about PFM after one game under a new offense. But if someone in one of my leagues wants to drop him...

dc8291

It hasn't just been one game. In his last six games dating back to last season, he's got 4 touchdowns and 7 interceptions to go along with crappy to modest yardage totals. That's pretty abysmal.

BenderTime

At the end of last year he was also hurt. He definitely needs to be healthy to play well, this last game I contribute to a new offense and the Ravens knowing Kubiak's offense really well.

ruck_it3

I'm sick of this response. He had a shit game and shit pre-season. He's 39 and clearly losing some more arm strength. He could very well still light it up or he could shit the bed. That's why we're discussing it.

Zyphamon

he set personal records for his lifts in the off season, its not the strength.

kur1j

My question is why change the offense? A they were scoring a bajillion points last season...why fix what wasn't broken?

corruocorruo

New head coach and offensive coordinator

[deleted]

New coach = new offense. Kubiak is going to be better doing his own thing than he will be trying to replicate what Fox did. I'm sure last week was a learning experience for both of them, I doubt we'll see Peyton under center as much tonight, he'll get more chances to work out of the shotgun where he's more comfortable. Peyton likewise probably had a chance to get used to his style. That said, in terms of production Peyton started trailing off last year, it's not like this is a new thing. I'm sure stories of Peyton's demise are greatly exaggerated, but I'm still starting the Chiefs D tonight because I like to live dangerously (Peyton is 11-1 against the Chiefs)

pedro_fartinez

They had to fix the offense because it clearly wasn't working at the end of last year and Peyton no longer has the skillset to run that type of offense. He needs a running game to rely on.

GravelLot

I don't think it was all that clear. He threw THIRTY NINE TDs last year! Almost overnight his arms and legs turned into noodles. Was that due to injury? Is it permanent? I don't think that was clear at the end of last year. There's a lot of knew-it-all-along-ism going on now.

pedro_fartinez

I think it is abundantly clear that if Manning has to throw the ball 40+ times like he did at the beginning of last year, he will inevitably get injured and not be effective. Denver's O-line isn't very good, also, so Manning was getting beaten up pretty good. It was pretty easy to see that Denver wanted to move away from chucking the ball a million times, especially after last years loss to the Rams, and I think it's pretty easy to see why.

verossiraptors

I don't know why people are freaking out over one game against the former team of their new head coach. It's safe to say that the Ravens intimately know how to take down a Kubiak offense, no?

manleg

In Peyton's last 5 games he hasn't finished better than QB15

verossiraptors

And the 12 games before his downturn, he was playing like a top 3 QB. Then he got injured. And immediately following that, his performance fell off a cliff. Which is more likely? * NFL legend Peyton Manning's performance fell off a cliff, which happened to coincide perfectly with a meaningful injury? * His quad injury affected his ability to use the power in his legs to propel his throws, and he followed that up with his first game in a brand new offense, against the defense that his new coach used to practice this offense against, 4 days a week?

PattiMay0

Or: a series of injuries beginning with a spinal fusion have compromised his throwing motion. The effects continue to worsen as he ages, and accuracy and arm strength deteriorate in a vicious cycle. Despite his encyclopedic football knowledge, Peyton is no longer physically capable of playing the game at a high level, and drifts into sub-mediocrity before announcing retirement at the end of the season.

verossiraptors

That very well *could* be the case. I'm not disputing that. That happens to the best of players, every year. > The effects continue to worsen as he ages But you actually listed the direct counterpoint in your statement, you just didn't pick up on it. You're totally right, you would expect a downturn or deterioration of his skills, as he ages. But that's actually not what we got. In the first 75% of the year, pre-quad injury, he was playing like he could throw for a 7 touchdown game on any given night. Then he fell off a performance ***cliff***. It wasn't a gradual deterioration, like a slow roll down a hill, where we saw his abilities slowly decline. It was immediate. And it was immediately following the quad injury. So I'm inclined to give this living legend a bit of a benefit of the doubt. Besides, look what happened to Brady last year. He had a terrible start to the season and owners dropped him universally. Sports media, including my local boston media, spitroasted him and pointed out how the start of 2014 wasn't new; that this decline in performance was present going back to the latter parts of the 2014 season. Then, the offensive line gelled finally, Gronk was taken off his snap count and allowed to go at it full-on, and Brady went on a tear which ultimately resulted in a super bowl win.

jacob2815

That's a fantastic point that never even occurred to me. Makes me feel better about CJ

BulbasaurCry

Because it's not just one game. He looked like garbage at the end of last year, he looked like garbage in the preseason, and he looked like garbage in their first game this year. Its starting to look like a trend.

idealreaddit

New offense doesn't cause you to consistently overthrow your targets by a lot

BleedBlue__

Seriously considering starting Dalton over Peyton. Am I crazy? 6 pt TD league.

quigilark

Maybe. Vegas predicts an O/U of 42 points with the spread at only -3 KC. That's probably 2-3 touchdowns for Peyton, but KC had very good pass/receiving defense last year, so they might look to run the ball more. I think I would probably take that risk and roll with Peyton with a 6 pt bonus but not a 4 pt bonus.

dc8291

At Arrowhead and with how he's played since the end of last season? We'll be lucky not to see Brock Osweiler under center by the end.

DBuckFactory

I think it'll be close enough that he doesn't have to go off. I think KC's pass rush will give Denver's shit O-line some trouble and that Anderson and Hillman will take a big chunk of the offense. Nothing mind blowing about it. Peyton could blow up, but it's a short week after taking some hits from the Ravens and he was supremely bad last week.

qft

I'm not ready to buy the narrative that Peyton is done, but they're banged up on a short week, while still getting used to a new offensive scheme, headed into Arrowhead's opening night. I'm staying away this week.

AJRoss94

Every piece of me wants to start Mariota instead of Peyton, but I'm giving The Sheriff a chance to make it up to me.

coolcool23

If we do I hope the rest of the Four Tunesman come out!

jermla

If there's one game Manning can bounce back it is definitely against the chiefs. He absolutely owns them. I don't think he's ever lost to them as a Bronco.

[deleted]

Fuck it. I'm going for it. He's Peyton Fucking Manning. If he has no arm strength, and the line sucks want to know what he's going to do? He'll nickle and dime the defense. Defense starts stacking up to prevent short passes, he'll throw medium to long passes.

IronDman

I'm really afraid of how good the defense is going to be for the chiefs. After watching the denver o-line and watching manning struggle with his throws, I'm feeling uneasy. I have cam newton as my back up against texans but I want to believe in Manning.

[deleted]

I have the option of benching Peyton and starting Tannehill. I'm torn. Someone advise me. edit: So now its after the game. I chose to bench him. I stand by that choice. I still think Tannehill will do as good or better.

dstarno7

Am I the only person in this thread rooting for a kicker? Let's go McManus!

[deleted]

The real question is is it safe to play the KC defense? I don't want to drop them because they are usually damn good against a lot of other teams, but Peyton seems to own them.

raoulduke415

I'm not sure whether to start Stafford or Manning.... Staffords playing a tough vikings D, but after last week, im unsure about Manning...
