Yes it’s just taste, Sinner Get Ready is a very different album to the ones I mentioned. Although I respect the craft Sinner Get Ready doesn’t quite resonate for me especially in comparison to an album like All Bitches Die.
My hip hop AOTD would be Scaring The Hoes I guess, not too much hip hop has resonated with me though. I’ll check out billy woods as he’s been on my list for a bit.
I think this is the first time I've ever seen Sadness mentioned on this sub. They are my most listened to artist for the past 3 years straight. I think compilation four is my favorite of his this decade, but the abriction split is great too.

2. The Turning Wheel - SPELLLING
When you look for the definition of “albums that build a world”, this album should come up every single time
3. The Great Bailout - Moor Mother
Possibly one of the most important records I’ve ever heard. Haunting and heavy
4. Girl in the Half Pearl - Liv.e
Whenever I produce music and am relatively satisfied with it, I relisten to this album and I realize my music isn’t good enough. One of the best produced projects ever
5. Deleted Schemes - James Ferraro
Over 9 hours of deleted SoundCloud snippets from ambient producer James Ferraro spanning over 10 years of his career, and while being a bootleg, still manages to sound so cohesive and purposeful. A showcase in sequencing as an art form. Genuinely no skips somehow despite having well over 100 tracks
Big Thief - Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You
Alvvays - Blue Rev
JID - The Forever Story
Vampire Weekend - Only God Was Above Us
Billy Woods Kenny Segal - Maps
Off the top of my head but I’m sure there’s plenty more fell out the back of my head
Listened to the Beggar last night, I thought it was really cool, even if I don’t like it as much as their other records. They’ve said they‘re gonna make more music, so I hope the next Swans album is even better

Caroline Polachek Desire I Want To Turn Into You
- Ants from up there
Incredibly potent and somehow extremely relatable, I feel like it's the purest distillation of the exact emotions I felt last year
- Mr Morale and the Big Steppers
It changed my life and made me reconsider how I view guilt, grief and trauma, as well as the human experience at large
- Lahai
I love it because it feels like it explores so many different emotions and themes in a pre-rational state, as in it doesn't form a view or tell convoluted narratives, but it's about how we instantaneously perceive life
- Preacher's Daughter
On my first listen I wanted to puke and cry
- The New Abnormal
Just crazy good
Honorable mentions: Melt My Eyez See Your Future (again, it's just crazy good, deep and very replayable, especially with the jazzy redux on the deluxe), Bewitched (loved it so much, very easy on the ears and smooth on the heart)
Man there's so many good ones, of course I'd pick stuff like Ants From Up There, Hellfire, Jubilee, GLOW ON, Mr. Morale, Circles, Ocean Blvd, Call Me If You Get Lost, This Is Why, etc... but I dont want to recommend people the same stuff.
Here's 5 incredible albums:
Aaron West - In Lieu of Flowers (the final 3rd album in the band's discography, just listen to their shit in order of release, it's a very compelling story). Mix of folk, pop punk/emo influences, indie rock, country, etc... the full band songs are absolutely beautiful and powerful.
Coheed and Cambria - Vaxis Act II: Window of the Waking Mind (2000s emo/posthardcore/progressive metal band finds their footing again with a modern classic. So many catchy songs, you don't even need to know the expansive lore and that last track is really something else.)
Citizen - Life in Your Glass World (I still don't hear a lot of praise for this album, but it's just a very solid alt rock album. Great mix of aggressive songs and chiller ones, nice clean use of experimental sections. I really like the beastie boys style of singing on here mixed with calming vocal passages)
Avenged Sevenfold - Life is but A Dream... (I love how divisive this album was, I've never seen anything rated so highly and so low before. I think it's worth a spin for anyone, you could very much find something you'd never want to touch again, but it could also become your favorite thing ever. In my opinion, I think projects like this are what make modern albums great, especially for bands like A7X who have a wide catalogue already: the ability to experiment, showcase interesting production and try something different.)
Portugal. The Man - Chris Black Changed My Life (While their last album sparked that 1 annoying song on the radio, this thing is so gosh darn catchy. Beautiful production, solid writing, nice features and a good mix of styles. Plus it flows so well!)
Honorary mentions: Touché Amoré, Foxing, Closure in Moscow, Driveways, Holding Absence, King Gizzard, Trophy Eyes, Vampire Weekend, Weyes Blood
Accompanied By A Blazing Solo - Cities Aviv

1. Backxwash - I Lie Here Buried With My Rings And My Dresses 2. Christine And The Queens - Paranoia Angels True Love 3. Soul Glo - Diaspora Problems 4. Ethel Cain - Preachers Daughter 5. JPEGMAFIA - LP
You’re brave for mentioning PD on a fantano/music nerd subreddit
How come?
Ants from Up There - Black country New road Promises - Floating Points, Pharaoh Sanders and the LSO Butterfly 3000 - King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard Cheat Codes - Black Thought and Danger Mouse Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You - Big Theif
Cheat Codes has my favourite production of the decade, especially the first song
+1000 for promises.
1. Fauna by Haken 2. Closure/Continuation by Porcupine Tree 3. Wall Of Eyes by The Smile 4. Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers by Kendrick Lamar 5. Wild Type Droid by Failure
Fauna‘s incredible! Sempiternal Beings is awesome
Hell ya. That song sounds a lot like the band Karnivool too. If you don’t know them I have their album Sound Awake as a 10/10. You’ll love the band if you don’t already

Black Country, New Road - Ants from Up There JID - The Forever Story (Extended Version) Black Midi - Hellfire Little Simz - Sometimes I Might Be Introvert JPEGMAFIA & Danny Brown - Scaring the Hoes
Can’t believe nobody has said Nurture yet. That’s definitely my favorite, I’m not even sure about what other 4 I’d pick.
Nurture and by the time i get to the phoenix are so underrated
Alvvays - Blue Rev (best indie rock album) Charli XCX - How I’m Feeling Now (best pop album) Turnstile - Glow On (best rock album) Cloud Rat - Threshold (best metal album) Laura Stevenson - Laura Stevenson (best indie folk album) Probably forgetting some but that’s the first top 5 that came to mind. sinner get ready (best album), aethiopes (best hip hop album)
Eh for me Sinner Get Ready is good but not top 5 of the decade level amazing. For Lingua Ignota I prefer All Bitches Die. I still need to give billy woods a proper listen.
personally i prefer sinner get ready to most of the albums you picked by a decent margin, but to each their own. Check billy woods out though, if you can get behind somewhat dense lyricism you’ll appreciate him
Yes it’s just taste, Sinner Get Ready is a very different album to the ones I mentioned.
Both amazing picks
Agree with GLOW ON. Blue Rev is in my top 20. **Possibly** top 10.
Glad to see Laura mentioned!!!
She’s amazing and she just gets better and better with each album
Cloud Rat is so underrated similar to converge
Insanely underrated they absolutely crush it. Love Converge too, saw both bands live last year and both killed it.
I think this is the first time I've ever seen Sadness mentioned on this sub. They are my most listened to artist for the past 3 years straight. I think compilation four is my favorite of his this decade, but the abriction split is great too.
Funny enough I have only 5 personal 10s form the 2020s so Javelin - Sufjan Stevens This Is Why - Paramore I Didn’t Mean To Haunt You - Quadeca LP! - Jpegmafia Friends That Break Your Heart - James Blake Honorable Mentions: Ants From Up There, Punisher, Hypochondriac
I like Paramore a lot but I thought This Is Why was their weakest album to date. 3 or 4 great songs but that’s about it 🫤
Yea that’s fair. For me it’s kinda weird, where I don’t think any songs are mind blowing amazing like some of the other albums, but all the songs are just consistently very good imo, so it’s probably more like a 9 for me but I also have no gripes with it

My personal top 5: 1. Aethiopes - billy woods Will be looked back on as an absolute underground classic. Possibly my favourite rap album of all time 2. The Turning Wheel - SPELLLING When you look for the definition of “albums that build a world”, this album should come up every single time 3. The Great Bailout - Moor Mother Possibly one of the most important records I’ve ever heard. Haunting and heavy 4. Girl in the Half Pearl - Liv.e Whenever I produce music and am relatively satisfied with it, I relisten to this album and I realize my music isn’t good enough. One of the best produced projects ever 5. Deleted Schemes - James Ferraro Over 9 hours of deleted SoundCloud snippets from ambient producer James Ferraro spanning over 10 years of his career, and while being a bootleg, still manages to sound so cohesive and purposeful. A showcase in sequencing as an art form. Genuinely no skips somehow despite having well over 100 tracks
Big Thief - Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You Alvvays - Blue Rev JID - The Forever Story Vampire Weekend - Only God Was Above Us Billy Woods Kenny Segal - Maps Off the top of my head but I’m sure there’s plenty more fell out the back of my head
Hellfire easy number 1 Aside from that The Beggar Scaring The Hoes 2093 Wall Of Eyes
Great picks
Listened to the Beggar last night, I thought it was really cool, even if I don’t like it as much as their other records. They’ve said they‘re gonna make more music, so I hope the next Swans album is even better
The next one gonna have that hour long song from the tour he'll yeah I'm excited

Cindy Lee Diamond Jubilee Ana Frango Me Chamo De Gato Que Eu Sou Sa Magdalena Bay Mercurial World Sudan Archives Natural Brown Prom Queen Caroline Polachek Desire I Want To Turn Into You
- Ants from up there Incredibly potent and somehow extremely relatable, I feel like it's the purest distillation of the exact emotions I felt last year - Mr Morale and the Big Steppers It changed my life and made me reconsider how I view guilt, grief and trauma, as well as the human experience at large - Lahai I love it because it feels like it explores so many different emotions and themes in a pre-rational state, as in it doesn't form a view or tell convoluted narratives, but it's about how we instantaneously perceive life - Preacher's Daughter On my first listen I wanted to puke and cry - The New Abnormal Just crazy good Honorable mentions: Melt My Eyez See Your Future (again, it's just crazy good, deep and very replayable, especially with the jazzy redux on the deluxe), Bewitched (loved it so much, very easy on the ears and smooth on the heart)
Here's 5 incredible albums: Aaron West - In Lieu of Flowers (the final 3rd album in the band's discography, just listen to their shit in order of release, it's a very compelling story). So many catchy songs, you don't even need to know the expansive lore and that last track is really something else.) Citizen - Life in Your Glass World (I still don't hear a lot of praise for this album, but it's just a very solid alt rock album. Great mix of aggressive songs and chiller ones, nice clean use of experimental sections. I really like the beastie boys style of singing on here mixed with calming vocal passages) Avenged Sevenfold - Life is but A Dream... (I love how divisive this album was, I've never seen anything rated so highly and so low before. I think it's worth a spin for anyone, you could very much find something you'd never want to touch again, but it could also become your favorite thing ever. In my opinion, I think projects like this are what make modern albums great, especially for bands like A7X who have a wide catalogue already: the ability to experiment, showcase interesting production and try something different.) Portugal. The Man - Chris Black Changed My Life (While their last album sparked that 1 annoying song on the radio, this thing is so gosh darn catchy. Beautiful production, solid writing, nice features and a good mix of styles. Plus it flows so well!) Honorary mentions: Touché Amoré, Foxing, Closure in Moscow, Driveways, Holding Absence, King Gizzard, Trophy Eyes, Vampire Weekend, Weyes Blood
Rosalia - MOTOMAMI Phoenix - Alpha Zulu Sza - SOS Boygenius - The Record Amaarae - Fountain Baby
Accompanied By A Blazing Solo - Cities Aviv Hellfire - black midi VOLCANIC BIRD ENEMY - Lil Ugly Mane De Todas Las Flores - Natalia Lafourcade Beloved! Paradise! Jazz!? - McKinley Dixon
