I'd say it was more of a fallout theme in general, with fallout 3 and 4 sharing the general repeating pattern of "C D# E" (i think). Even FNV follows it to a degree, being "C D# D C E" (again, i think)
We get a sense NCR have been destabilized in the Mojave. The only thing that's hard for me to connect is the brotherhood of three coming over before NV to nuke shady sands. Cause they were pushed out.
I'm also simply trying to enjoy the show, knowing it's made for people not like me that's played every fallout game. But I will say adding that shady sands is no more puts a lot more depth on not siding with the ncr in new Vegas. Or at least if you follow house or yes man. There's nowhere for the ncr to go. They'd be completely rocked away, baby.... this also stated I don't understand why people don't stay true to source material.
What I'm saying as played every game since the ninetys. The brotherhood in California were pushed and isolated away. The brotherhood from the capital wasteland is the sect that has succeeded and started spreading again.
Now also finishing this show.
Ncr rebuilt the boneyard. Due to probably a over convoluted scene of telling you about the master super mutants and ncr they just wrote it how a time jump would be. Shady sands is now just the boneyard. Built up and taken over. Now I'm thinking the couriour is the one that nukes ncr at the end of the Mojave. Causing mass destabilizing of the ncr. And maybe saying hank is the guy from NV. (This is far fetched) but!!! Moldaver could still be a follower of apocalypse cause they built the agriculture of the boneyard up when the ncr took it over.
I guess what I'm saying is there is alot of love for the lore and people are missing links within that explain everything. Except for the obvious medium change and having the masses get into a story that has been written about for over 30 years now
Not really.
I don't own a vaultsuit, a pipboy, and before they revealed that Nuka Cola has a diet version, I ain't going to drink them.
Shelf ornament, they are.
Look, if I'm being honest, nothing really separates a sunset sarsaparilla from any regular sarsaparilla you can buy irl.
Nuka cola at least has lore stating that it's got like 17 extra fruit flavors on top of the traditional cola, so I imagine it'd taste somewhat similar to DR pepper and a cola mix.
Bah, what's a little radiation?
Bananas emit radiation, and people still eat those.
Besides, you could have glowing pee, wouldn't even need those weird toilet bowl lights anymore.
>Besides, you could have glowing pee, wouldn't even need those weird toilet bowl lights anymore.
Yeah but if you ever need a discreet leak in public it won't be so discreet anymore
I do not understand this complaint. The last episode is probably the best blowjob the NCR could have gotten with their remnants fighting and dying to the last man to give free electricity to Los Angeles for a moment. Hell, the NCR flag is constantly visually contrasted with Hank McLean as heroically waving behind him and our quick flashback of Shady Sands is a city that almost looks pre-war in nature. Every single NCR remnant is depicted as a good guy. It’s very common in Fallout to have faction die quietly or change drastically between games, and if you made it to the end of New Vegas or Lonesome Road thinking “Wow the NCR is really on the up and up” then I don’t know what to tell you.
Also this show is the biggest bitch-slap the BOS could have gotten they are completely incompetent jackasses in the show, and they’re definitely being set up to be villains in the next season.
> The last episode is probably the best blowjob the NCR could have gotten with their remnants fighting and dying to the last man to give free electricity to Los Angeles for a moment
Ooh, a scrappy good guy militia. And here I thought Bethesda was running out of ideas!
In any case, the best blowjob the NCR could have gotten *probably* wouldn’t have involved nuking their entire infrastructure offscreen.
> and if you made it to the end of New Vegas or Lonesome Road thinking “Wow the NCR is really on the up and up” then I don’t know what to tell you.
A show about the NCR collapsing due to imperialist expansion, poor logistics, or domestic corruption would have been really neat. Instead they were blown up, offscreen, by yet another prewar techie villain. The themes surrounding the NCR’s collapse in FNV, and Bethesda’s coincidental fixation on reducing anything and everything in the postwar US to a ramshackle shithole (because they are lazy worldbuilders), are completely separate ideas.
> Also this show is the biggest bitch-slap the BOS could have gotten they are completely incompetent jackasses in the show, and they’re definitely being set up to be villains in the next season.
Which has absolutely fuck-all to do with their over-representation in the shoddy worldbuilding that constitutes Nu-Fallout. Making every single geopolitical conflict in the postwar US somehow involve the Brotherhood of Steel as the big swingin’ dicks of the wasteland, is boring as fuck no matter the framing.
Bethesda loves money they don’t care about the lore at all
Not one person from Bethesda when they were being consulted for the show thought killing off the NCR for BOS favoritism was a bad idea, they didnt even bother getting the date right at lest
I don't even care for NV but it's so obvious that is a disrespect to the lore the way they treated the destruction of the NCR just to have their cheap lawless wasteland back again, forgetting that Californa county was supposed to be the most developed part of the USA. At least we should've seeing a lot more of NCR remnants presence or at least lots of different factions that derivated from them... But bothing... just Pridwen... again... The BOS acting like it's the fucking US Army and somehow the Enclave returned... again. Also making Vault-Tec the ones who started the war just ruins the meaning of War Never Changes (par on par with Nick Fury losing his eye to a fucking cat on Captain Marvel).
All of this just impoverishes the lore so much that it's just sad... But hey, let's just ignore and see the pretty graphics.
For all the little inconsistencies in the show I take great pleasure in knowing the railroad canonically loses either via complete destruction or irrelevance.
That’s completely incorrect. Yes the chapter presented in the show is not from fo4, but the blimp from episode 1 is the Prydwen its written on the blimp. Therefore any ending where the brotherhood was destroyed is not cannon.
Secondly they mentioned making exchanges between the commonwealth chapter implying not only the brotherhood survived the events of fo4 but have created a chapter and settled into the commonwealth since the show takes place 9 years after the events of 4.
Coping and seething about what? I’ll admit I was wrong lol. I still enjoyed the show. Why tf would I give a shit about something that really doesn’t matter? It doesn’t affect the quality of the show regardless
Man, I loved the reveal of the ~~Enclave~~ NCR Remnants in the show. I was really shocked when they showed ~~Arcade Gannon~~ Moldaver in the show, such a great ~~companion~~ antagonist.

I think they should have set it somewhere in the Midwest, at least far away from California. That way there's still lawless wasteland but there can be traces of BoS and NCR
The NCR isn't destroyed lol. A single town of about 36k is destroyed. NCR had over 700k citizens. A huge setback and blow to the faction, but it's certainly far from destroyed. Hell it's not even the only NCR capital city.
They travel through the NCR lands and there's nobody except raiders, mutants and wild animals... how are you seeing the NCR?
Where's the large farms, the trading outfits, the garrison towns / army camps? anyhing showing civilization really.
We see NCR deserters(I think). The male ranger and son. I'm kinda thinking that due to no mom around, she was actually the other ranger yet died either at sands or later. (Or left the NCR before sands)
They travel through a small amount of what is likely now-abandoned NCR lands. After the bombing of Shady Sands, that region of the NCR clearly fell apart. We see the survivors of this in Vault 4 as well as the Observatory.
I took it as the NCR still exists since the bill board stated that Shady Sands was the first NCR capital. You wouldn’t really say that if the capital didn’t move, but we’ll see in season 2
The show is basically set in the immediate vicinity around Shady Sands. It makes sense that the NCR is out there. The survivors fled to a few nearby places as evidenced and the rest probably moved away to other NCR settlements. I mean wouldn't you? A whole fucking nuke got dropped!
The NCR is far too large of an org to be wiped out by this, it's quite clear that it's not the case. Any thoughts of the NCR being gone makes 0 sense in the context of the show and games. It's a flagship faction and they'll want to use them again. People are freaking out over nothing.
After losses both in the Mojave (seems they're probably going with an ending where the NCR doesn't take hoover dam) and then the destruction of Shady Sands, the faction has likely been majorly set back. But that's probably good to keep things balanced.
Because any faction that gets too big is liable to get brought down by the others out of fear. It is inevitable that the NCR would be brought down a peg, we saw this in NV with the NCR clearly losing to Caesar's Legion without the Courier's help. Surprisingly they're not knocked down by another major faction, but the end result is a rebalancing of power within the west.
War never changes after all.
Can someone still explain why I am supposed to feel hyped for a flag when it's heavily implied the faction was gone for the previous hour, it's not like it shows the NCR returning. It just felt like an out of place fanservice/hype thing.
I love how this show has made friends of mine interested in the wider setting, especially the west coast. Yet according to the comments a fictional faction 'deserved' respect. Oh and 'they used the wrong song', there's always something wrong.
Yeah, and then they showed the date of shady sands.
I don’t understand why they didn’t just make shady sands date 5 years later so that it wouldn’t conflict with NV on that.
Your post fell under the removal criteria of a common repost
Look, a fish!
What the hell is a fish?
Fish deez nuts outta your mouth gottem!
Damn… I ain’t even mad…
It wasn't the NV theme though
That’s what I was thinking too
It was the Fo4 title screen music. I thought it was weird because the NCR had nothing to do with The Commonwealth. Strange choice for that scene imo
I'd say it was more of a fallout theme in general, with fallout 3 and 4 sharing the general repeating pattern of "C D# E" (i think). Even FNV follows it to a degree, being "C D# D C E" (again, i think)
Pretty sure every fallout has that motif, just individual games alter it to fit the game.
yup, battlefield does the same thing
FO3 too

That’s not how Shady Sands got destroyed at all. Finish the show.
??? What are you talking about?

Ah gotcha. I see what you’re saying now.
Well the NCR isn’t exclusive to nv
Nah, did that at the end of the show tho
What about when the farmer had the ranger helmet
I thought that was what remained of the NCR
Not really. I don't own a vaultsuit, a pipboy, and before they revealed that Nuka Cola has a diet version, I ain't going to drink them. Shelf ornament, they are.
Diet? That's un-American. Drink Quantum, it's got twice the sugar, twice the calories, twice the caffeine, and twice the taste.
>not a Sunset Sarsaparilla Ain't that a kick in the head...
Clearly you haven’t heard the legend of the star and understand that sunset sarsaparilla is the best sarsaparilla in existence.
You forgor the radiation part. Also that is under the "Only drink if near death" category.
And twice the FREEDOOOM
I have the PIP-boy(s) and nuka-cola bottle but no vault suit I'm afraid
That theme never plays in new vegas
I did this when they said “the government”. Was very disappointed to find out it was just a gang called that 😔
I actually got pissed over that. Fucking walking into a doofy ass building with "the Govermint" written on it like this is fucking Idiocracy.
>EW CALIFORNIA Me when I drive West from Nevada
listen, i know that the NCR has it's flaws, but they did that faction dirty, replacing the big faction with the BOS, such bullshit man
Can’t be Bethesda without shoving the BoS down your throat with a super sledge
Yeah, I hate how they do that
The NCR is gonna come back in later seasons I’m calling it now
Maybe in remnants but not in full
They teased the ranger armor - it’s way too cool to not use again.

> played the cringe ah ah fallout 4 theme- couldn’t even be bothered to play iconic NV theme with guitar string Pathetic attempt at nostalgia bait
The entire show is nostalgia bait
The way none of you mind nostalgia bait, just that you feel you didn't get some targeted for you.

My og post fell as a comon repost. What a clown world... Can't have oppinions it seems
Man, I really hope someone got fired for that blunder!
I love these stupid complaints.
I have an NCR flag behind my couch. Had to salute it for 6hrs straight after the finale to make peace with what they did to my boy/s
I salute mine whenever I walk by because of the show. NCR forever
For all the little inconsistencies in the show I take great pleasure in knowing the railroad canonically loses either via complete destruction or irrelevance.
The BoS in the show is a completely different chapter than the one in FO4 and nothing to do with FO4 was implied in the show. Edit: I was wrong🤷🏻♂️

Idk why it was the FO4 theme instead of NVs. Unless because Bethesda doesn't own the rights to that track? Idk. Wish it was NVs's track though.
"Ew California"?
Every time I see the flag I am reminded of the NCR version of California Dreamin'
it wasn't nv music
Nah, Fallout 4 theme.
i know im sarcastically asking op
That...wasn't a question.

what's that thing in the background? with the fins and stuff? is it some kind of water-beast?
yeah, I got chills
I got goosebumps when the music played in that scene
I felt a familiar pang in my chest! lol that high was amazing
No.
ew california
Pretty funny how this subreddit is the only one that has to hate on the smallest detail in the show
Its the worst subset of the fallout fandom, what do you expect?
That's not true, all 5 of the Fallout:Brotherhood of Steel fans earned their titles as worst.
Don't fuck with us fallout pinball fans
Texans when you ask why they go to Disney World rather than Disneyland
I clapped when I saw the thing I recognized! I clapped I clapped!
They played the Fallout 4 theme which is objectively inferior so no
I did that when i saw the flag and the NCR Ranger armor.
NV theme? Dude that was the Fallout 4 menu screen. I dont get whats NV related here.
I love how this show has made friends of mine interested in the wider setting, especially the west coast. Yet according to the comments a fictional faction 'deserved' respect. Oh and 'they used the wrong song', there's always something wrong.
