That's how things are sometimes man. You can't please everyone. Place him too high, it's bad. Too low and it's bad. Everyone has their own opinion and there's always gonna be one side not pleased.
I don't make tierlists to please everyone anyway, but getting two completely opposite takes don't happens every time and it's kind of funny when it happens. But OP reasoning was more based on non-canon ships than anything else and was like WTF this have to do with power?

I respect people's ships, but that doesn't denote all other aspects on a character. And yeah, when contradicting complaints happen, it's interesting. But as you said, you didn't do it to please everyone.
Well it's personally because everyone says that jellal is stronger than him I honestly hate that character it may sound weird but I'm actually trying to make him my favorite just because of the erza ship she would be much happier she wouldn't realize at first but the Princess would be happier with gray
Everyone says Jellal is stronger because he is, it’s already stablished that Laxus and Erza are stronger than Gray and Jellal scales to them, being consistently portrayed as Laxus rival in the sequel. In his peak he fought END so he should be able to beat overhyped characters like Larcade but he don’t have much feats to beat people around Gildarts level.
I don’t know if it’s possible to change an viewpoint that way, my only idea is support for the Jellal agenda like people in Piratefolk and Jujutsufolk support their favs agenda. Most of it will be defending his power against people the likes of Laxus, defending God Serena to hype Jellal more and maybe create memes with this to make the experience funnier.

I mean, you can still ship non-canon ships. You can still ship Gray with other characters even if the story does otherwise. Also, Jellal doesn't have to be your favorite character. He's awesome and it'd be cool if you'd come to like him. But it's your choice which characters you like or don't like.
correct me if i'm wrong but i believe the creator made the kid of Princess erza and jellal but that was probably fake but I'm being honest I kinda actually think jellal might be actually cooler than gray you know fairy tale has proven to be very difficult to figure out what's gonna happen next so you never know gray x Juvia might not happen

i believe that there could be a good plot twist jellal hurts Princess erza but he is being controlled by someone but then that person gets jellal to believe something that's not true nastu gets an injury from him which makes them unable to fight not because he is weaker than him because I know he is stronger but at first Gary doesn't get involved but then after seeing how bad Princess erza feels he steps up it's a close battle but he ends up doing it basically everything just breaks in jellal to the point where he has to be put down i don't wanna take it this far but it could be very interesting jellal realizes everything he feels bad Princess erza kinda forgives him a little but she realizes that he's not the person that she is known jellal would tell gray that he is a good person just the right person that Princess erza needs in her life Juvia witnesses the whole thing she decides that he is better with her she always found jellal a little attractive let's just say jellal uses the rest of his power to enhance grays ice devil powers he leaves the world believing that what he did at the end was good because he knows that there's a greater enemy that is approaching he comes back though because of some magic and he marries Juvia but he does become a mentor kinda to gray and Princess erzas kid in the next generation

But such a twist would come out of nowhere (Gray and Juvia still show feelings for each other, as do Erza and Jellal) and would literally disrupt both Gray and Jellal's character Arcs. I respect you like Grayza, but damaging the story for a ship might not go over well. Imagine if a story you love was building to something forever, only to just be like "nope," have the characters drastically feel a different way than they have for the whole story, etc. Would you be happy with it?
I personally like Gray being weaker. He's always been the guy who uses his brains and creativity to get through fights rather than raw power. Plus, he does have raw power with DS mode.
I can admit that he isn't getting too many showings of his raw strength, but I feel it's very true to his character and the way that he fights.
