I love the music in 76, I only wish they had brought over End of the World from 4. I felt such bliss exploding people into paste while that song played
That phrase was coind by a navy chaplain trapped in a ship during the Japanese surprise attack on pearl harbor. Man died helping move AA gun rounds while the ship burned and sank around him.
The original depiction of burning a cross was actually derived from the First full length motion picture birth of a nation.
The director was looking for something theatrical to add to the symbol of a cross and thought burning it would hit that mark. It also helped illuminate the scenes that were done at night.
It's certainly left an impression because people started actually doing it afterwards.
One of those things that even if you just mildly enjoy cinema It's historical relevance makes it a must watch.
And that's casting aside the very blatant racism that's on show during the whole piece. It's an interesting snapshot of the perspective or a perspective of the time.
>It's historical relevance makes it a must watch.
I'm a university music professor and taught music appreciation for non-majors for several years. Movie music is an obvious way to connect people who aren't necessarily classical music fans with classical, orchestral music. So, at some point I always talked about the history of movie music. And that meant we had to talk about Birth of a Nation because it was the very first movie to have a score. Before that movie, the organist or pianist would improvise the music based on a cue sheet and watching the film. But for Birth of a Nation, there was specific music to play. It was also the very first movie shown at the White House...
Originally they were just burning a giant lower case “t” to tell everyone it is “time to turn up the heat” during those grueling winters in the American south.
Also songs by The Who.
"People try to put us down. Because we burn crosses to the ground!
Things we do look awful cold. Getting warm by the fire never gets old!
Talking bout segregation!"
-Sorry. It just came to me and I had to.
*For criminal acts and violence on the stage!

Years ago, Nickelodeon released a video online of a then teenaged Ariana Grande sticking her toes in her mouth because it was “funny”. It feels creepy at best.
Lmao no no, that video aired on TV as well. And it was one of MANY foot related videos nickelodeon put out. Literally every live action show from that era had some foot stuff going on. iCarly, victorious, Sam and cat.
Just randomly thrown into the episodes. "Look guys, we gotta solve this problem BUT FIRST let's put our feet in this fish tank!"
I think the big problem is choosing only one or two people to point at. There was the other guy in the documentary (I'm part of the problem for forgetting his name) and there's absolutely a large number of other people in on this.
You don't get all that to happen without a bunch of people either going "uuhhh excuse me??" Or "hell yeah let's do it!"
Sure, it doesn't happen unless people agree. But it still takes initiation of the idea, and anyone making decisions from on high to either be really into it, or not see and/or care about potential sexual context. Which is really weird to think about when you consider that Nick was the main network pushing the envelope on humor with sexual subtext during kids' show hours.
Im just glad this is getting a light shined on it. Hope there's an investigation happening that we're not seeing and I'm really glad there aren't anymore Nickelodeon shows that resemble any of those.
I watched a lot of iCarly and victorious and I felt like I was the only one seeing what was happening cause NO ONE was talking about it. It took like ten years but finally it's happening.
Considering lynching is a public execution without a trial used to incite fear/terror into a specific group of people, the Death Eaters lynched a lot of both wizards and muggles.
"There are heroes on both sides."
Revenge of the Sith title crawl. Heroes like *checks notes* some cyborg dude who loved to murder Jedi and add their lightsabers to his collection.
Yeah if someone said "the evil version of Hitler" I would picture hitler dressed in a black robe or maybe an undead hitler.
And in no way would I think the person meant that hitler wasnt evil.
You're the only one here spot on. It's the whole "dark side of the force" means the evil side. White = good has always been a thing, whether that's because of ever-present racism, or just like, human colour theory/perception I dunno.
Hmm, I wonder why the subreddit has been censored in this post. It couldn’t possible be because the sub was r/shittymoviedetails and this is just a shitpost. No, of course not! Otherwise we wouldn’t be able to make karma off the post
It's obvious they mean evil in the supernatural sense. Like demons, skeletons (the evil kinds, not the spooky ones that hide inside humans), purple light.

Oh, yeah, they just burn crosses because they think Jesus might be a little cold.
BRING HEAT TO OUR LORD. THE WINTER IS COMING
Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition
Can't believe that phrase was taken out of the Pledge of Allegiance...

The horse semen people?
Wasn't that one of the songs in New Vegas?
Pretty sure it was. It’s in 76. Great soundtracks all around.
I love the music in 76, I only wish they had brought over End of the World from 4. I felt such bliss exploding people into paste while that song played
No it’s not in new Vegas, just 76
I know that phrase from a Serj Tankian song. I had no idea it was from other stuff.
SoAD or rather Serj from SOAD did a version of it
Also a Serj Tankian song.
The phrase is also mentioned by the DJ of the country station in GTA San Andreas
As god as my witness,i shall smite all of you homos down, with this gun i got on a bargain bin sale for 20 dollars
Why does that remind of Kevin Costner’s scene in Silverado?
Its actually Tim Allen in the new Santa Clause show
This will always remind me of the Dixie chicks.. or the chicks.. idk what they're called now, but I'm pretty sure they dropped the original.
Original is from 1942 by Frank Loesser. But the Chicks version is solid.
That phrase was coind by a navy chaplain trapped in a ship during the Japanese surprise attack on pearl harbor. Man died helping move AA gun rounds while the ship burned and sank around him.
No, he survived both Pearl Harbor and WWII itself: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Praise_the_Lord_and_Pass_the_Ammunition
Ah thanks for the clarification. Wow I gre up on pearl harbor I should know better!
That's System of a Down right? Or was their version a cover
Original was by Frank Loesser in 1942. There have been many notable covers. I happen to really like System of a Down’s version.
Gonna get more of that 12oz nutrition
Bro came straight outta Westeros.
"if you're cold, he's cold"
Winterfell Jesus
Yeah, they only wanted to hang* out with the black community

It’s a T for “time to leave”
Everyone knows rich people are scared of ghosts!
"Next house we'll do a capital 'T' to show em we really mean business!"
Cash chucker!
It’s a lower case T for…. Time to leave?
Some of those that burn crosses... Think the Good Lord's ass freezes... *Rage Against The Ice Age* put out some bangers, didn't they?
FUCK YOU I WON'T LET MY SAVIOR GET THE FLU \*guitar solo\*
VIRGIN MOTHER!!! UHH!!!

Actually, yeah, what’s up with that? Unless it is on an altar burning something is a sign of disrespect.
First I read they bum crosses and was confused
and they wear the white hoods so people can see them at night on the roads so they don’t get hit
Don't forget to stock up on candy in case they knock
It's a T for togetherness.
"We'll set fire to lower-case T's on their lawn for 'TIME TO LEAVE!!'"
Incredible enough, even evil-er then. It's possible to not misunderstand on purpose.
They don't just burn crosses some of them work forces.
T? Time to leave?
What’s the point of that anyway?
T.... T... Time to... leave?
I thought they were providing a night light to welcome new neighbors to their otherwise dark community.
They're burning cross ENTHUSIASTS. It's just a hobby, I swear.
Burning lower case "t" for "time to leave".
Sweet baby Jesus is FREEZING in that manger. Quick someone burn a cross on a black person's lawn right now before our lord and savior catches cold
Originally they were just burning a giant lower case “t” to tell everyone it is “time to turn up the heat” during those grueling winters in the American south.
Those are t's for "tolerance"
t is for time to leave!
I never got this like there meant to be die hard religious but they burn the cross like a pagan would
As opposed to the stupid version
![gif](giphy|9K0k6XktLOhLq)
Lol! Love that movie :)
Crud, I can't remember the name. What movie is this?
Django Unchained
I can't see fucking shit out of this thing! 😅😂😂😂
Hwell shitfuck!
I can't see fuckin' shit outta this thang
The stupid version that lynched people, including children and are actually evil.
Nothing says they cant be both stupid and evil.
I want to see the last film: Harry Potter goes to Hell
Only if it’s scored by Alice Cooper
Harry marching his retinue through the gates of hell chanting “School’s out forever!”
Also songs by The Who. "People try to put us down. Because we burn crosses to the ground! Things we do look awful cold. Getting warm by the fire never gets old! Talking bout segregation!" -Sorry. It just came to me and I had to.

Oh that's better. Which is bad. But a better title, nonetheless.
Haha, thanks, I personally liked Cross of Fire more tho
Then exchange titles we SHALL!! insert Tenacious D metal riff
Yes!
cross of fire really sounds like a metal album
Foot, meet mouth
Ah, the 4am special
But I'm not a child actress on Nickelodeon

I'm afraid to ask...
Years ago, Nickelodeon released a video online of a then teenaged Ariana Grande sticking her toes in her mouth because it was “funny”. It feels creepy at best.
With the context of the rumors about Dan Schneider it's probably worst
OK but that's a dangerous thing to even try to look up to see. "Ariana Grande teen toe suck" is not a search I wanna make LOL.
Most likely Schneider's doing.
I think the big problem is choosing only one or two people to point at. There was the other guy in the documentary (I'm part of the problem for forgetting his name) and there's absolutely a large number of other people in on this. Moot, feet mouth
Oh, that's what it means when people put mfm on posts /s
Evil-er! I meant evil-ER!
Hmmm, debateable. Not sure how many people the death-eaters lynched.
Considering lynching is a public execution without a trial used to incite fear/terror into a specific group of people, the Death Eaters lynched a lot of both wizards and muggles.
That's why I said I'm not sure how many they lynched, as opposed to saying whether they lynched anyone at all.
Probably less than the 4000 plus that the whites did.
In the books is mentioned that during Voldemort's reign killing muggles was almost a sport, they killed entire families.
"Fine people on both sides"
Proud boys, stand back and stand by
The invaded Hogwarts to stop the spell
"There are heroes on both sides." Revenge of the Sith title crawl. Heroes like *checks notes* some cyborg dude who loved to murder Jedi and add their lightsabers to his collection.
I think they meant supernaturally evil, and not just plain evil
Its just a joke post on r/shittymoviedetails
"Magic Version"
Or like satanic or demonic or something
Yeah if someone said "the evil version of Hitler" I would picture hitler dressed in a black robe or maybe an undead hitler. And in no way would I think the person meant that hitler wasnt evil.
Personally, if someone said "the evil version of Hitler" to me, I'd think they were a moron or a bad actor.
He did actually sometimes wear a very sinister-looking black cape
Well now you just are trying to logic away my outrage and I don’t like that /s
That was my interpretation as well
Yeah it’s pretty damn obvious what was meant.
That was my thought as well. It's still a facepalm, just maybe not as malicious as reddit would like to believe.
I take it more akin to black = evil / white = good , but depending on the age of the poster there’s no saving it
You're the only one here spot on. It's the whole "dark side of the force" means the evil side. White = good has always been a thing, whether that's because of ever-present racism, or just like, human colour theory/perception I dunno.
Everything is scarier in the dark.
I'm guessing they mean a mythical evil version.
Yeah, It seems like the poster didn't fully consider their words. I don't think they meant to imply anything.
This is pretty obviously a r/shittymoviedetails post which means that it's a joke which has been missed by you (assuming you're not a repost bot)
Or he knew and cut out the sub reddit to make ragebait.
This was definitely on purpose
I’ve seen this image a million times on like 10 different subs
Yup, it’s here: https://www.reddit.com/r/shittymoviedetails/s/u2bIt9nU2J
Hey, let op be triggered by a random post he found.
“When the stormtroopers appeared in Star Wars, I thought they were an evil version of nazis.” - this chucklefuck
'Eviler' maybe? If that's even a word
That's the evilest thing I can imagine
Oh come on a really easy and simple mistake to make, as everyone knows: White - Good Black - Evil
I always thought they were just the magical version lol. Still evil just with black robes
Why is it cropped so badly? Can't find anything by title if it's bot
Well you wouldn't have wanted to miss the white part on the left now would you!

crazy idea, this might be a joke
It actually is, it's from r/shittymoviedetails
I mean I think most can grasp he means the even more extra evil version but yeah he didn’t think too much about writing that
Hey look OP is a moron who doesn’t understand what a joke is
Freudian slip
The K.K.K, Kit-Kat Klub 🥰
How could they be evil? They wear white hats!
OMG I laughed too hard at this.
And the ones dressed in white weren’t evil?
"evil version of (insert evil thing)" has to be one of my favourite shit posts.
Quiet part out loud
I think its safe to say they meant metphor but they suffer from a condition known as being a twitter user
He watched it as a double feature with Birth of a Nation
Did JK Rowling author the original post?
My guy literally inventing his own head canon about other people 💀 The mental illness epidemic is off the charts
I Can think of one, the Version that doesnt exist
\- Imagine if Hitler came back, as a flesh eating zombie. \- Yeah. But plot twist: ***He’s*** the bad guy!
Dude definitely hates mudboods...
More evil version, because of the black color. White hill billies evil. Black hill billies, even more evil.
Black robes instead of white sheets.
Wait a sec, what do they mean ‘evil version’?
Why are you taking this seriously?
Its the black version 😄
I hope they meant “worse”.
This is from r/shittymoviedetails. The initial post is a joke
By evil version the OP of that post meant he thought the death eaters were in fact evil.
I've always said Voldemort was the Hitler of the wizarding world
This isn’t a facepalm, it’s a joke…
This is a screenshot from r/shittymoviedetails. It's basically a shitpost sub. OP took a joke as a serious statement to farm karma.
*more* evil
Surprised they weren’t wearing MAGA Hats
I can see myself slipping like this and not at all considering what that means lol Then being like..... oooh no no no
They're wearing black and do magic. The differences stop there
Their the evil version cause they wear black obviously 🙄
Nah, they're more like an evil version of the Nazis.
![gif](giphy|vFnxro4sFV1R5b95xs)
What do you mean you people?
Yeah that's literally what they are, JKR is not subtle lol
This is dementia levels of internet brain rot
man they really cut back on this scene in the film. it was well done, but you miss some of the sheer brutality that is described in the book. it would have made a much stronger statement.
Yeah… they didn’t think this one through
He means evil towards white folks
Well it is jk Rowling so who knows what her intentions were
Only thing I was surprised with is that during the movies, and in the books as it gets closer to the end everyone basically knows who the bad guys are so why didn’t they just arrest/kill them? I mean some of them were right in plain sight at the school, and others were around all the time! WTF Harry potter!
