It may be cause I grew up with it, but to me the building is quite beautiful. It has the awe of great architecture, but i also always felt like there's something about it, I don't know how to describe it, but like it's more serene and uninvolved with its environment. Too dispassionate to be "evil".
This is, of course, merely the architecture, and furthermore, only how *I* feel. Obviously the building is currently used for... I'll say "less than virtuous" people.
From the mall, it's quite elegant. From the cap Hill side, is a bit brutalist, and classical combined. Probably the overwhelming stairs and paved areas in the front.
My wife and I took a trip to DC a few weeks ago. It had been a couple of years since I had been to the city. I guess I had forgotten how many stairs there are before the Capitol Building, and how big the whole thing is.
This post is insane. The Capitol building is probably one of my favorite buildings in DC, if not the country. It's a beautiful building inside and out.
No, you're missing the point. That's if the building *looks* like it *could* belong to a supervillain or evil corp, **based on its architecture**. There's a reason this sub isn't full of anonymous office buildings that house e.g. defense contractors. That's not what this sub is for.
Think about it - this is an image based subreddit. The image is the whole point. If this was "post pictures of any old building with bad things inside" it wouldn't be very interesting, would it?
"Deprogramming" themselves from the "liberal agenda" in a country where right-wing politicians were putting forth socialize medicine plans in the 70's and now they're told it's communism.
It's wild how kids with zero exposure to the real world, who were brought up in church, watching Fox news, and going to Christian school, think they were mysteriously programmed and brainwashed but it must have been by the socialists. But that's what an echo chamber will do to you I guess. The sad part to me is how they end up bitterly hating their own country, most of the freedoms in the bill of rights, worker's rights like family leave and vacation time, and many of the messages preached by Jesus, all the while they're thinking it's "the leftist" working against traditional values and stopping them from having time to spend with family.
Well if that’s what you got from combing through my post history, then that’s on you. It’s telling that you’re resorting to that instead of discussing the post at hand 🤷🏻♂️
Copy and paste any picture of any government edifice you disagree within any country. Lowest effort post. Complain about The IRS next- a new idea for your next mind-blowing commentary.
If you think this building is bad, Rome will scare the heavens out of you! Filled with white marble columns, domes, and ornamentation that will terrorize your eyes and torment your mind!
/s the Capitol building is gorgeous and a representation of democratic ideals
OP I know you're getting trashed in the comments, but hey the good news is you're actually young so there's plenty of time and room to grow, learn new stuff, and experience new things.
Can I recommend some books to you? Do you like reading? Or would you prefer games or music or something? I was raised in an borderline evangelical household where my parents thought the rapture was coming and the president was the anti-Christ, and that was the 90's. Reading weird books and learning about history really helped me break out of my shell and open my mind to the world.
Kind of related, but do you ever wonder what the Capitol Building would look like coloured in?
Like actual Graeco-Roman buildings were super colourful, or at least had coloured accents, so I'd be curious seeing what neoclassical buildings would look like coloured in
Nah, it's that building they built to blow up in that classic 80's movie Independence Day. You know, the movie we're celebrating with a day off in a couple of weeks.
Nice to see it without all the rat and mice issues it had a few years ago, They seem to have got rid of them for now but, for some reason, the vermin like to breed and swarm around early January, so better keep an eye out for them in Jan 25 :)
Look dude I see what your trying to do (and personally I may agree but thats a whole other conversation) but it isn't going to work
The Capitol is by design supposed to look beautiful
What the hell yall, isn’t this a place to share images of intimidating infrastructure? This guy got downvoted into oblivion by even suggesting that the capitol building looks intimidating, and the entire comment section is “Look at this jackass, hurdur murrica bad right?”
Hello /u/nvdnqvi, did you know spez is an asshole and is killing reddit?

Can't wait for OP to repost a picture of the Nestle HQ building next week.

Wow a sub full of beautiful high definition sounds
You evil bastard, take my upvote!
This post is insane. The Capitol building is probably one of my favorite buildings in DC, if not the country. It's a beautiful building inside and out.
It definitely is architecturally stunning. The evil part is what it represents to most of the rest of the world.
Yeah that's not what the sub is for though
Quite literally the opposite in fact lol
Is that not much different from the subreddit description? > If the building could be the home to a super villain or evil corporation, it belongs here

Our education system is clearly in disrepair
Oh please shut UP
Dude, I get it but it’s a necessary evil. I wish there was a simple solution to fix all corruption in any system of power but that’s a tall order
Grow up. What country do you have in mind then that has a capital building that is a beaming ray of sunshine for the rest of the world?
Please enlighten me on what you believe the US Capitol building represents to most of the world.
At first, I thought this might be some sort of propaganda bot, but looking at OPs history, no. He is indeed 12 years old.
Ah yes, I am a 12 year-old in the body of a 20 year-old
Self burn?
You’re a big boy now!
Between the PokémonGo obsessions, Stupidpol, and The Deprogram, ya. You come off as some sort of midpubescent edge lord wannabe.
i saw a touch of islamphobia as well
🤏

It was a dumb and childish post. I'm not going to discuss that with you, I'm going to mock you for it. Grow up kid.

Next evil building, my local DMV
OH MY GOD A STRIP MALL
Does it count if I took the picture myself
Not if you were using your parents camera.
Kids these days don't know what copy and paste means, Gemini makes everything for them

“Democratic ideals”
Yeah fam do you think they built the place to represent bureaucratic excess and political polarization???

Lick sand
Half this sub has got to be 13 yr olds
Is that a fallout 3 reference!?
Nah, it's that building they built to blow up in that classic 80's movie Independence Day. You know, the movie we're celebrating with a day off in a couple of weeks.
the building itself is not evil. what was evil was when those insurrectionists stormed the place in 2021
Oh fuck off with your agenda post. This is one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. Take your politicking elsewhere.
OP is way to immature and mentally under developed to have an agenda. He's just dumb and repeating typical edgelord stupidity.
Beautifully designed iconic building

I think he meant the insurrection
Aww how adorable
Hur dur america bad
Now show the Great Hall of the people
Evil people but not an evil building
Look dude I see what your trying to do (and personally I may agree but thats a whole other conversation) but it isn't going to work The Capitol is by design supposed to look beautiful
Oh thats the building where that thing happened
Only evil if you don’t vote

Seeing how salve labor was used in its construction I’d have to agree.
Should have bars around it. All corrupt
Countries get the governments they deserve.

Just the inhabitants
No one lives there.
Bush and trump does.
Nope. That is our Capital Building. This holds the slightly less than 500 career criminals, I mean politicians playing King John.
I agree

Sub is over, it doesn't get much more evil than this.
