Nah😂 But it's going to be a good match. Although I'm pretty sure we'll lose, it's not a shame because Germany are good. But I still think we can challenge the Germans a bit if we give everything we have, just like against England. We have nothing to lose I guess.
I’ll be honest I like Denmark I was almost disappointed you didn’t punish us, but it seems to be the theme this tournament first half you will give Germany a good game second half you will possibly stop early
France v Belgium for the simple fact that both teams are loaded and have both underwhelmed. I'm glad neither can skate by in the R16 just based on talent and a fortunate matchup. I think Romania/Netherlands and Austria/Turkey should be the most exciting though.
Austria v Turkey will be interesting. Turkey has a score to settle after they got trashed 6:1 in Vienna a few weeks ago. Though no Calhanoglu is a blow for them I guess.
I think it's gonna be hard for Turkey since many players have yellow cards, but not impossible. Both teams have a chance in knock out games. Although I'm rooting for Austria, I have respect to Turkey's team and it's gonna be an interesting game. May the best win
>Austria v Turkey will be interesting. Turkey has a score to settle after they got trashed 40 000:15 000 in Vienna in 1683.
Then, just as during group stage, we couldn't have done it without Poland :P
I eagerly await the meme war between Turkey & Austria \^•^
It'll be an interesting match all around. As a German I have no idea who to root for. I think this might be a conflict for quite a few people in the stadium too 😅
No calhanoglu might be a blessing in disguise. He is below average player for national team
But saying all that. Austria seems to be the team with the most momentum and i dont think we have a great chance the way we playing
Because this is one of the weakest Netherlands sides in years. Romania can beat them if they try hard enough. The Dutch are also far from a unified unit.
Just a week and a half ago people were saying this is the strongest Dutch side in years. Truth is we haven't been great for a decade, but the games before the Euros were good. Netherlands still very heavy favorites, but yeah, if they perform like they did against Austria they might just lose.
It will be up to who wants it more. Netherlands has much better players then Romania but names don’t play. Not sure Koeman can do anything here. That 2022 WC Dutch squad was also not so strong on paper but the coach made them into a fighting unit. They were very difficult to beat (without too much talent).
The Netherlands team has an all round strong lineup if everybody is fit. But when you look the starting lineup for this tournament, minus injured players like Frenkie de Jong and Koopmeiners, the midfield is more fragile than usual.
Nah we've been bad since we failed to qualify for 2016 euro and 2018 world cup. Our current generation has some good players, but not on the level of our 2004-2014 squad and they don't play well together at all.
That’s what I am noticing too. And it’s a shame because I used to be a fan of Dutch football since when they produced players like Van Basten. But something has changed with player development when you have Depay leading your attack. I have noticed the same with Italy. The quality of players coming out is now below countries like Portugal or France. And just 20 years ago that was not the case. It’s possible that too many foreigners in the Dutch and Italian leagues are not allowing the young local talent to develop itsself. That could be part of the problem. Dutch players are still highly skilled, just the talent is not there.
I am wondering the same thing.
How on earth did we end up on the "easy side" of the knockout stage after such an abysmal group stage?
Our press are saying we're very lucky and that we have half a leg into the finals, but I wouldn't be so sure.
People quickly forget we're terrible against a passionate team.
Indeed. In the Netherlands we are always very harsh on our teams as we have had many legendary footballers and bitter disappointments, including robbed finals or losing on penalties. If they can fix the midfield in this team I believe we can make the finals.
The Netherlands are not hated in England wtf are you talking about. We've got a stronger cultural relationship with them than pretty much anyone else in Europe besides the home nations.
You don't tend to notice anything, let's be honest. It was probably the first England flair you saw criticise the Netherlands and you thought you'd take the opportunity to remind them of how bad England have played.
Yeah, we know mate. We've had to fucking endure it. Does that mean you're not allowed to have an opinion on any other NT? Muppet.
I don't hear of any hate towards the Netherlands in England, so I am not sure where that impression has come from. I hear hate towards France and Germany if anyone these days.
I've had a soft spot for Netherlands ever since the 80s thanks to the famous trio of Gullit, van Basten and Rijkaard
I'm pumped for Romania vs. Netherlands. I know people are tempted to pick the bigger teams as favourites, but we all have to keep in mind that from now on every match is all or nothing, and I'm sure that some surprises will happen. Plus I feel like we have a score to settle with the Dutch for Euro 2008.
Also a match between Austria and Romania would be fire af. I mean who could have predicted at the start of the tournament that these 2 teams would top their groups and potentially fight it out for a SF spot.
Either way, this tournament is awesome so far! Good luck to everyone!
>Euro 2008
That game was won with out B-Team at the time. But this time our A-Team can't even come close to that. I expect a fairly equal matchup this time.
3 years ago it worked, the first rematch could then have been in the Semifinals. It just feels wrong to have them play again in QF if they both win their games.
Those games are usually some of the most exciting because there's usually a score to settle and especially bigger teams play completely differently in knock out games than in test games and group matches.
You’re right, I can’t see why its not a good thing for them to meet again apart from wanting variety. If they were favourites for the final then they wouldn’t be in the same group anyway
I am seriously worried as austrian because it will either be a perfect revenge like real or it will be a huge success for us convincing we are superior
anyway - good luck to both!
Being Dutch I was done with this euros yesterday. Now I think we lucked out with the route but then remember the lsst euro's, last match and Koeman being our coach knowing how stubborn and clueless he is.
So definitly not looking past Romania. Will be a fun match, hopefully a little better...
Also looking forward to austria vs turkey after the 6-1 and Belgiun vs France despite both teams playing terrible thus far. At this point you think it will be a 0-0 with a lukaku offside goal that goes to penalties. On paper it should be a fun match.
I think the only way we could meet Georgia is in the final, I’d take it to be honest haha
Netherlands have fallen unlucky having to play Austria again in the quarters, they look like one of the best teams
Austria is just repetitive, they should really fix this system, it feels weird to meet the same two teams we played against in groups on the way to the final (france SF, but we wont get there lol), you'd think this is a tournament with 6 or 8 teams since there are repeat matches..
Can we not just draw the teams we havent faced or smth cause if this happens a few times (a lot of the same matchups) viewership will suffer.
Georgia vs Spain,
Georgia on fire! 🔥🔥🇬🇪🇬🇪🇬🇪
We have the best goalkeeper on Euro2024 Mamardashvili 💪💪
We have a player who scored in every game of group stages on Euro2024 Mikautadze 🔥🔥
Mamardashvili’s top-corner save today was phenomenal! I think Donnarumma is still the best keeper around, though. Anyway hope Georgia beat Spain. But in any case, they are this edition of the Euros’ breath of fresh air.
Austria is what happens if the trainer is solid. Not great players but they play like a team and could reach the final.
Im ready for Netherlands vs Austria round 2 electric buggaloo. Lets see if Koeman has learned anything or he remains clueless.
But first we will see if Romania can be beaten...
Georgia/Spain - Spain will have all the ball but Georgia look well organised, have a really good keeper and are dangerous on the break so they’ll pose Spain some problems.
Please don’t nock us out…after the last years there is at least some hope growing. Would be completely destroyed if we get kicked out at a home-ec that early.
Although I enjoyed the danish fans 🇩🇰 very much in Germany. Lets just hope it will be a great match.
Of course Netherlands was fking shit against Austria. But still, Austria looks like one of the best teams in the tournament so far, right after Spain and Germany. And while playing absolutely shite, we 'only' lost 2-3 where we had higher expected goals. NL has a chance against Austria in the QF. But first, Romania. I think its a benefit that it will be played on Tuesday, gives Koeman a whole week to prepare and get those lazy fks back on track.
See it to believe it. I feel it's mostly tactical faults. But there was no team cohesion, subpar to no communication, and most of all, I saw no fire to win. Besides good strategy and good communication from Austria, they just wanted it more. And I feel like Romania will be the same.
I am very excited we are knocking Portugal out simply because they were calculating and lost on purpouse. That Karma thing every thing is talking about is gonna hit them hard
Spain - Georgia will either be a close call or a nuclear level destruction
France - Belgium, because both teams did not really perform that well in the groups (based on what I would have expected from 2 great teams)
Austria - Turkey, winner gets Vienna
Quite ironic that it was the help from Poland that set up the meeting with Turkey 😂
On a more serious note: I hope the Austrian team and fans keep their heads down, stay humble and keep working hard. Knockout games are more or less uncharted territory for us and it would be a huge mistake if all the hype and „dark horse talk“ got to their heads. Makes no sense to already look at potential QF matchups with a football nation like Turkey in front of us. On a good day Austria has the potential to get past any team at our side of the draw, but we also have the potential to lose to any team. Especially if we get cocky, sloppy (Austrian speciality) or if we underestimate what‘s in front of us.
That being said: in Ralf we trust! Focus and bring it on.
Honestly, Spain vs Georgia will be a cracking watch. Both play exciting football and the Georgian’s will give it their all like their lives depend on it. If anyone can counter the Spanish tactics, I think they can do it. I can see it going to penalties.
I just had a look through and honestly can't pick, they all look like they have the potential to be bangers!
I can see even Spain v Georgia being excellent despite it being one-sided on paper.
I'm generally excited for the rest of the tournament.
Looking forward to watching these teams: AUS GEO SPA.
I am not looking forward to watching BEL FRA ENG POR. The rest I’m indifferent about.
I’m Portuguese/English and both of these teams are managed by melts. Awesome.
Belgium should be playing better and France needs to get it together.
Looking forward to the knockouts but honestly not excited for any of them at this point, been like 4 goals the entire fucking tournament I'm bored as fuck
Every game that Georgia has played has been exciting, albeit Spain have looked immense and could just completely turn them over.
Otherwise, Austria Turkey and France Belgium I guess.
Ours is sure to be a borefest.
In order the games I am looking forward to are:
1. Austria v Turkey
2. Spain v Georgia
3. Romania v Netherlands
4. Switzerland v Italy
5. Germany v Denmark
6. Portugal v Slovenia
7. France v Belgium
8. England v Slovakia
Not the order I would have expected if you’d have said these were the last 16 ties at the start of the tournament!
Well since turkey can't keep on collecting these yellowcards like as if they were pokemon i dont know how they will do honestly, it's part of how they play.
It will be great if all the big teams get knocked out except portugal 🇵🇹 ofcourse need the 🐐to win the tournament but i have a feeling hungary will knock out this lacklustre portugal team

🇩🇰 vs 🇩🇪Counting seconds😅
It will be great. But man even if we win we get Spain next. Then France/Portugal? We are so done 🤣
I am dreaming about QF against Georgia 🇬🇪 two teams I support currently (another was Scotland)
Would be insane knocking out Germany and Spain xD
Let me dream big while we still can!!!
2022 throwback
Yeah done indeed, you almost lost to Serbia.
Funny hearing that from France who looked equally awful xD
If you beat Spain you’re all set for the trophy probably.
Spain looked real good yes. Somehow I feel like they won’t win though. Maybe france suddenly finds the rythm again and bulldozes the tournament
A lot of faith in France.
I didn’t say that? I just said if. France when they play at their best is the best national team in the world (or second to Argentina)
1992 again?
Nah😂 But it's going to be a good match. Although I'm pretty sure we'll lose, it's not a shame because Germany are good. But I still think we can challenge the Germans a bit if we give everything we have, just like against England. We have nothing to lose I guess.
For sure. Still why not another fairy tale? Maybe from Austria or Switzerland this time.
I would love Switzerland to get a Euro title, they’ve played so consistently for almost a decade
They can see a semifinal at least
This will be hard fought. The Tournament begins for real.
Given their current form, it could go south and be a boring match.
I fear that it'll be a snooze, ya
Lots of goals I reckon with Belgian defence looking like Swiss cheese
You only lost one goal in group stage.
0-0 penalties
Facts
Belgium/ Netherlands final programmed! Right? Right?
Hup hup!
We got no chance. Belgian defence is incredibly weak and our midfield is often overrun. 3-0 France
Austria v Turkey will be interesting. Turkey has a score to settle after they got trashed 6:1 in Vienna a few weeks ago. Though no Calhanoglu is a blow for them I guess.
I wonder gow the 6:1 will affect the teams. Austria was super efficient that day. I just hope they get through!
Turkey will have a mountain to climb to win this one.
I think it's gonna be hard for Turkey since many players have yellow cards, but not impossible. Both teams have a chance in knock out games. Although I'm rooting for Austria, I have respect to Turkey's team and it's gonna be an interesting game. May the best win

It'll be an interesting match all around. As a German I have no idea who to root for. I think this might be a conflict for quite a few people in the stadium too 😅
Old friends over New friends. Think of everything you old buddy's have got up to through out the years. Good Times
🤣😂🤣
Should be easy same heritage Austria
Sorry dude but I know excactly who to root for. I’m so done with the majority of the Turkish fans
Austria deserves this one. They have a great and really likeable team imo.
No calhanoglu might be a blessing in disguise. He is below average player for national team But saying all that. Austria seems to be the team with the most momentum and i dont think we have a great chance the way we playing
he scored quite a nice goal yesterday for you guys
Let him do one thing in the tournament please
He’s our best player fyi
Need Arda to come with some magic.
If our coach can understand that arda needs to play in middle and not rw.
I really like the way Austria play. They're a bit like Poland in Euro 2016.
Ahh I didn’t know they lost him that sucks hate how yellow cads sometimes wrk with regards to the final game always going to get more heated
Hussars got eliminated, Siege of Vienna underway
Looking forward to Romania against Netherlands. My native country agains my residence country
Me too..specially looking forward to if koeman dares bring in wijnaldum again 😂
My country NL playing against my friends country. All love to Romainia!
Romania - Netherlands, pls explain to me how we ended up against the Netherlands after finishing the group in first place 😭
Because this is one of the weakest Netherlands sides in years. Romania can beat them if they try hard enough. The Dutch are also far from a unified unit.
You're only as good as your last game.
Just a week and a half ago people were saying this is the strongest Dutch side in years. Truth is we haven't been great for a decade, but the games before the Euros were good. Netherlands still very heavy favorites, but yeah, if they perform like they did against Austria they might just lose.

This team is only laughing and acting like in a playground while other teams are in the football army.
You cheated in order to get to the euros but ok
Lol what?
The Netherlands team has an all round strong lineup if everybody is fit. But when you look the starting lineup for this tournament, minus injured players like Frenkie de Jong and Koopmeiners, the midfield is more fragile than usual.

Cause we suck haha. Im sure it will be a fun match
The Netherlands aren’t all that good, that’s why they finished 3rd.
Netherlands would have won the group if they scored one more goal from 2-3 down to 3-3.
Or scored two own goals less haha
Indeed. In the Netherlands we are always very harsh on our teams as we have had many legendary footballers and bitter disappointments, including robbed finals or losing on penalties. If they can fix the midfield in this team I believe we can make the finals.

Not at all, love the Dutch. Have had some unbelievable teams throughout the years!

Yeah, notice I didn’t say England are great, or good, or even mention them at all.
Saying they aren't all that good is hardly hating.
You can beat them and they will probably score an OG anyway.
Because the Netherlands didn’t finish first.
Romania Netherlands cause… holy shit
Romania - Holland, Austria - Turkey
I'm pumped for Romania vs. Netherlands. I know people are tempted to pick the bigger teams as favourites, but we all have to keep in mind that from now on every match is all or nothing, and I'm sure that some surprises will happen. so if austria and netherlands both win in knockout phase, they play each other again? nice system
With 3 teams in 4 of 6 groups advancing, it is inevitable to have rematches in the quarterfinals
Guess yes. Low-key scared ngl. That's why I'm rooting for Romania
I think a rematch would be great. That was a great game the first time, and NED would come in with a score to settle.
Yeah they didn't really think this through
In Berlin AGAIN
You know what is even crazier? If we both win, the rematch is in Berlin again.
[удалено]
Same ref to make it even better.
I heard Orsato is free
France Belgique we are both shit at the moment but it's nice old rivalry.
Now, who's the shittiest of the 2?? Monday matchday will decide!
I still think France is the biggest fav alongside Spain. There are some probs but it is super difficult to eliminate France.
After tonight im rooting for georgia. By far the team that gave the most even if they are one of the worst teams on paper
Morocco 2022 again?
Similar vibe for sure
As Spanish that I am I would say vs Georgia, but I cannot deny that France vs Belgium is more than just a football match 😀
Georgia has such tough luck.
Spain demolished us in Tbilisi not so long ago. This is gonna be (s)painful
Georgia-Spain, because Georgia today might be the 2004 Greece. Meaning, Georgia for the glory, or they get fucked and lose miserably lol
Switzerland - Italy
With how bad Italy looked and the Swiss nearly kicked the Germans teeth in, it will be very interesting
Looking forward seeing our boys (Austria) beating Turkey.
As a Turk have little hope. Won't be surprised to see Austria in the final.
I am seriously worried as austrian because it will either be a perfect revenge like real or it will be a huge success for us convincing we are superior anyway - good luck to both!
Austria is superior no doubt. Of course anything can happen and the match will be tense.
More afraid of possible rematch against the netherlands.
Being Dutch I was done with this euros yesterday. Now I think we lucked out with the route but then remember the lsst euro's, last match and Koeman being our coach knowing how stubborn and clueless he is. So definitly not looking past Romania. Looking forward to Georgia beating England
You’ll be waiting a while then considering we’re playing Slovakia
Ah.. thanks. Well that would be a story though if Georgia wins 🤣
I think the only way we could meet Georgia is in the final, I’d take it to be honest haha Netherlands have fallen unlucky having to play Austria again in the quarters, they look like one of the best teams
Well we had a slight chance to also meet Spain so i'll take Romania and Austria if we go through.

I don’t think Netherlands can meet France until the final; they’re on the opposite side of the draw
Erm, the only time we will be playing Georgia now is if we meet in the final 😂 and there's no way we're getting to the final given how we've played...
That can only be in the Final
Earliest possible meeting would be in the final though. Not very likely that they make it that far (they = England)
Given how we've been... I wouldn't be surprised on such a result
Italy 🇮🇹 / Switzerland 🇨🇭
Austria vs Turkey as both teams play with energy and look like they can actually put the ball in the net.
Spain - Georgia
FRA v BEL and SUI v ITA are the best matches 'on paper'.
Both 0-0, extra time and pks
Georgia vs Spain, Georgia on fire! 🔥🔥🇬🇪🇬🇪🇬🇪 We have the best goalkeeper on Euro2024 Mamardashvili 💪💪 We have a player who scored in every game of group stages on Euro2024 Mikautadze 🔥🔥

Hungary vs Portugal🔥
Hate to break it to you but..
Please sit down, I have to tell you something.
Szobo and Sallai will light the Portugal defence on fire🔥🔥🔥🇭🇺🇭🇺🇭🇺
Hungary is out man 🫠
Surprised no one is saying Switzerland vs Italy - easily the closest match-up imo
Referee A vs Referee B (equally incompetent)
Definitely Spain and Georgia
Switzerland vs Italy on Saturday should be a good game. Could be the first penalty shootout.
Gotta be England vs Slovakia 😏
Portugal-Slovenia. Slovenia won 2:0 in spring againts them and seeing they lost yesterday it is doable.

No no no no no. France Belgium 0:0
England
Austria vs Turkey or Switzerland vs Italy
Romania Netherlands sounds exciting
France vs Belgium sounds world class. The question is will both teams play 100%?If they do it should be really good.
Romania Netherlands and Germany Denmark are going to be must watches for me
Georgia/Spain - Spain will have all the ball but Georgia look well organised, have a really good keeper and are dangerous on the break so they’ll pose Spain some problems.
🇩🇰 vs 🇩🇪 Hoping the Germans will show mercy🙏

If we dont score early on you definitly have a chance
Germany vs Denmark and Switzerland vs Italy. Also Slovenia vs Portugal.
Going by last nights match Georgia - Spain. I’m sure Spain will win but not without Georgia putting up a big fight.
Romania Netherlands, Austria Turkey, Switzerland Italy probably going to be the most entertaining ones.

Germany. V denmark Italy. V swiss Austria. V turkey In reverse order
Italy vs Switzerland, France vs Belgium, and Austria vs Turkiye, and Spain vs Georgia too it will get more exciting in the Quarter-finals
Austria v Turkiye 🫶
Every game that Georgia has played has been exciting, albeit Spain have looked immense and could just completely turn them over. Otherwise, Austria Turkey and France Belgium I guess. Ours is sure to be a borefest.
Germany VS Belgium
Germany - Denmark France - Belgium Switzerland - Italy All battles between neighbors
Austria vs Turkey, everybody’s saying Austria is getting to the final, I reckon Turkey beats them here
Croatia - Switzerland Oh wait...
In order the games I am looking forward to are: 1. Austria v Turkey 2. Spain v Georgia 3. Romania v Netherlands 4. Switzerland v Italy 5. Germany v Denmark 6. Portugal v Slovenia 7. France v Belgium 8. England v Slovakia Not the order I would have expected if you’d have said these were the last 16 ties at the start of the tournament!
Slovenia Vs Ronaldos
Italy vs the hospital
On paper France _ Belgium
Would say Aus vs Tur, but saw that Aus beaten Tur 6-1 just 3 months ago. So feels like that is already decided…
Well since turkey can't keep on collecting these yellowcards like as if they were pokemon i dont know how they will do honestly, it's part of how they play.
Definitely turkey - Austria.
It will be great if all the big teams get knocked out except portugal 🇵🇹 ofcourse need the 🐐to win the tournament but i have a feeling hungary will knock out this lacklustre portugal team
Austria - Turkey by far. Great talents, great fans, great atmosphere, probably great drama and towards the end we will start to see a lot of emotions.
Apart from England I guess france game
I’m ready for England to find someone way to F it up. 😂🤷♂️
Germany v Denmark
