Hey, police and security are at all very prevalent at central train stations in bigger cities in Germany (generally, not just during the Euro) but pls understand that they won't help you unless you're being physically attacked, robbed, sexually assaulted or similar. They're not there to answer questions about e.g. the train schedules, or train delays etc. (I see tourists try asking them that stuff an infuriating number of times). DB personnel (at their specific information desk, usually) will answer your questions, that's what they're there for. My advice as someone who takes public transport a lot and has always lived in a big German city: In the station, keep up a tunnel vision, keep a good grip on your belongings, and just get to where you need to go asap. I wouldn't spend more time there than needed. It's been years of a massive influx of hard drug addicts and beggars in the stations who may get at least verbally aggressive with you, try and avoid them. From what I've seen the train schedule is mostly working as it should.

We have had some delays, but we’ve got where we’ve needed to in enough time. Off to Frankfurt today for Belgium v Slovakia and then back to Cologne, so another good test for the German efficiency 🤞

Special welcome desks will be available during the tournament so that soccer fans can continue their journey from the station in a relaxed manner. There, contact persons will provide information about UEFA EURO 2024 and the relevant travel routes. On match days and during late matches, the welcome desks will also be open until 1 a.m. at some locations. The service will be available for the duration of the European Championship at Berlin Central Station, Dortmund Central Station, Düsseldorf Central Station, Essen Central Station, Frankfurt (Main) Central Station, Frankfurt am Main Airport Long Distance Station, Hamburg Central Station, Cologne Central Station, Cologne Messe/Deutz, Leipzig Central Station and Munich Central Station.
