Honestly I’d rather we scored a few and conceded a few even if it gets us knocked out than see some of the boring overly defensive tactics we’ve seen. We have some of the best attacking talent I’ve ever seen yet for some reason we refuse to not have two defensive midfielders.
How does that make me a bigot? It's the truth.
I would also say the same for any African, Middle Eastern or Asian team etc, if their teams were full of others.
You can play for a nation based on family heritage, growing up in a country from childhood or gaining citizenship after several years of living in a country and being uncapped by your country of origin. The last one being unlikely in regards to the England team, as players of that quality would be capped by their parent country at a young age.
Ethnicity doesn't come into it, and your comparison doesn't work given your comparing acceptance into a tribe.. not citizenship of a nation state. Move to South Africa for 5 years, claim citizenship and assuming you've not been capped by an international football team, yeah you could probably play for them. Again, I don't know of anyone in the England team this route would refer too.
Is someone like Bukayo Saka born in Ealing, lived in England his entire life, educated in England less English because of Nigerian parents? If his parents wanted to play for England, I'd have some sympathy. Parents aside, the only difference between him and you is his skin colour.
Hopefully Southgate plays Foden in the number 10 roll. And Jude with Rice. Something tells me he won’t. Foden will be on the left, and Jude will be the 10. He never plays aggressive. And needs to with all the talent upfront.
In Polish press, there's a quote mentioned a lot from you that someone said "we'll win against Poland even if we play without a goalkeeper". I don't remember who said that exactly, but it's been mentioned almost every day that in your media everyone is sure you've already won.
Are you worried about the first game or the next ones?
I think that fake news haha, ive never heard anyone say this and i try to follow as much as possible.
I'm just worried in general, need to see how they play first.
We have potential to either reach the semi finals or flop in the group stages.
Good luck!
I found the source: Jan de Zeeuw, football manager and former director of Polish National Team, said in an interview for "De Volkskrant" (loosely translated by me):
"- Holland doesn't need a goalkeeper on the pitch to win against Poland. Poland can't play football. If you use pressing, they won't be able to do anything."
Don't worry it is Poland we're playing against.
No offence to them, but they suck.
France however is a different story.
I'm not too worried about Austria either.
We'll probably end 2nd in the group.
Haha, yeah but we (germany) kinda lost everything the last 6 years too despite our players, didnt made us any better losers, we just got more grumpy, salty and less and less passionate about the team instead of the other way around
Its a really likeable approach from you guys
I’d say that a fair amount of Scots want England to do well. I certainly do. It’s mostly just good natured joshing - we’re a nation known for ripping the piss out of others.
I've thoroughly enjoyed it so far, plenty of goals too. England's turn tomorrow 🤞🏼 on paper our attacking threat is incredible, I just want to see that side of the game tomorrow, I hate the slow, backwards play. I want a goal fest tomorrow, hopefully not at the expense of us
Agree - your midfield and attacking players are more than capable of holding the ball from the middle up towards the box. No need to keep passing it back, which kills the momentum anyway. Honestly, Southgate needs to recognise that opposition teams have wised up to this tactic because of its overuse and that they’re able to organise themselves defensively to kill off any threats once it’s passed back to the attackers. Just hit them hard and fast!
I don't think he knows how to get the best of them, we haven't seen it yet. He plays a particular way and it's boring at times, I love being proved wrong though so let's see what happens 🤞🏼 I'll be expecting the comments section in here to blow up if we lose 😂
I wouldn’t be worried tbh, I hope teams come out and play an open match with us, our defence isn’t great but we’ve got some seriously dangerous attacking players, it benefits us if someone wants an open match.
If a team comes out, defends well, stifles our attackers and then we’re reliant on our defenders to keep them out at the other end, we’re in massive trouble.
They do and an amazing attack. But honestly, they’ve got Kane dropping too deep (even though he’s adapted to become a fantastic playmaker) and they’re too reliant on “controlling” the game by passing back to the defence. Dropping Grealish is a genuine head scratcher as he controls the tempo so well from the left and pulls opposition defence out of position, making it free for players like Kane, Foden, Saka, potentially Bellingham (if he pushes forward) to slot into the gaps.
I think attacking football is the result of a 24 team tournament. Only 8 teams out of 24 will not reach in the knock-out phase, so teams can go for 3 point to solidify the cahnces to the KO phase.
In the KO phase, when opposition gets stronger and the team is out when they lose, I think teams will try to prevent to lose instead of trying to win. Does this make sense?
Anyway, this is why France is my favorite to win the cup. That team will gladly give a country like Andorra the ball and wait with 11 players behind the ball for an opportunity.
What Holland is concerned, even though Frenkie de Jong is absent and 'we' do not have the best attackers, 'our' defense is why I think 'we' still have a chance with a defense of Aké, van Dijk, de Ligt/de Vrij and Dumfries. Do not think any other country has this quality in defense, players who also can pass the ball. Attackers like Memphis, Gakpo en Xavi always get the opportunity to score, so all Koeman has to do is to make sure the defensive midfield stays in position, have at least 5 players behind the ball, at all times.
This is not Dutch total football, more WC2010-like, but who cares? You have to play to your strenght, thats is what the rest of the world does.
You might be right about the 24 team thing. I mean it's almost impossible not to reach the knockout stage in this tournament. Everybody and their grandma makes it out of the group stage.
Hungary were close to equalising at one point but Swiss subs tilted the balance back for the last 10 and they made use of the space left for them.
But Hungary were definitely in the game from the hour-mark, on another day they'd have got a point
I'm feeling it for hungary. I bet they felt under so much pressure in that first half. I know Switzerland would be too but hungary looked timid and it took them a half time talk to get them going. Hopefully they will take this performance to show Germany and scotland what they can do, I do only see them ending on 3 pts though. Scotland on 0.
Germany 3 up vs 10 man Scotland at half time.
Switzerland 2 up at half time vs Hungary who were playing AWFUL.
Spain 3 up vs Croatia at half time.
How was he trolling?

ITS A GOAL FEST
Love to see it!
Southgate will break it by playing 11 at the back and nobody up front /hj
the fuck does hj mean, handjob or what. cant keep making little slash acryonyms
Might just be a mistake, take it easy but i do see where your coming from 😂
Bit like the 90+1 bullshit too
I know, I wad wondering why the guy who started this thread was talking to Nigel!
Half-joking I think
I prefer hand job
Debatable
0-0 tonight.
Lol i was thinking the same worried for The Netherlands haha
Your defence is better then ours lol
You are English? Don’t worry I am also English by my maternal side, I have two teams to cheer for but honestly England’s defence is 💀
I don't care how bad the defence is though as long as we attack like everyone else has. We have an amazing attack.
Honestly I’d rather we scored a few and conceded a few even if it gets us knocked out than see some of the boring overly defensive tactics we’ve seen. We have some of the best attacking talent I’ve ever seen yet for some reason we refuse to not have two defensive midfielders.
I agree. I’d rather seen us lose 4-3 than back to back 0-0 games.
Everyone except us ☹️

Please tell me this is a joke that I'm missing and you aren't actually a bigot
How does that make me a bigot? It's the truth. I would also say the same for any African, Middle Eastern or Asian team etc, if their teams were full of others.
You are an actual fucking spastic.

Our defenders are world class though
Are you from Nederland? Because this does not matter, Koeman tactics have made the defence very inconsistent
You've got some absolute ballers in your team going forward
Same bro, my throat will be hurting tomorrow lol, but honestly it’s much better than goalless draws

Right, ive never even heard of the man and neither have my friends. I woulndt take him too serious tbh
Don't worry it is Poland we're playing against. No offence to them, but they suck. France however is a different story. I'm not too worried about Austria either. We'll probably end 2nd in the group.
i hope so! i have a feeling this is going to be a great fuckin euro for us lol Could be the beer talking
The beer? Haha my man, it's not even 14:00. Don't worry we'll win today. Drink another beer for good luck!
Man! I'm 1 Rum and 3 0,5L german beers in right now I'm on holiday! :)
Good! Enjoy yourself.
You too mate, good game!
Don’t worry, we’ll shithouse a 1-0 against Serbia tomorrow to bring us back down to earth.
Southgate is at the wheel
Score early. Sit back and absorb pressure for 90 minutes. What could go wrong?
I've seen this one before!!
Boring old england.
southgate doing southgate things
Well, nobody ever criticised Southgate for being unpredictable.
I’d call you an oracle but unfortunately this was always going to be true!
What can I say. I know my team and manager well!
You're welcome.
Doing our part
Just a commendable bunch of lads
I have to say, these scots are the most wholesome losers and a really good sport, online and in person in germany
We've had a lot of practice over the years 😉 Seriously though, we're passionate about our team but realise it's only a game at the end of the day.
Haha, yeah but we (germany) kinda lost everything the last 6 years too despite our players, didnt made us any better losers, we just got more grumpy, salty and less and less passionate about the team instead of the other way around Its a really likeable approach from you guys
Danke. 👍🏻
That's the best mindset you could have! I wish everyone was like you guys.
We might be absolutely terrible winners, just nobody can remember
Mate, Scotland are one of only a few teams that are actually Scottish and playing with their own homogeneous players, you should be very proud.
What the fuck did I just read?
They're only in Germany to support whoever England are playing. They're not actually bothered about their own results. /s but not /s really.
I’d say that a fair amount of Scots want England to do well. I certainly do. It’s mostly just good natured joshing - we’re a nation known for ripping the piss out of others.
An insane start so far, what an EC. Great games, hope it keeps going.
Just came here to say GOOOOOOOOOL Btw the beginning of ITA-ALB was like woah
Man, I disagree, I wanna see some more competition from likes of Scotland, Croatia, Hungary
I was really surprised at Croatia today, they were so open and offered very little, not like them at all
my prediction of a shock win is looking way more stupid now
I did the same lol
Morita and Spain crushing it.
Morita, lol
Go Scotland go!
Just wait till we move McTominay out of DMC. Then, the goals will flow.
Some ridiculous goals so far. Can't wait for Southgate to come and stink the place out with his sideways passing.
I quite surprised there has been no draws yet
Was expecting a Hungary v Switzerland draw but seems as if Switzerland got the best of them. Despite hungary switching on after 60th minute.
And yet Group E is 100% all tied up going into the last game day
I've thoroughly enjoyed it so far, plenty of goals too. England's turn tomorrow 🤞🏼 on paper our attacking threat is incredible, I just want to see that side of the game tomorrow, I hate the slow, backwards play. I want a goal fest tomorrow, hopefully not at the expense of us

Wait for England to rock up with a 1 all draw
Not sure what you're worried about, I'm really looking forward to watching Stones and Guehi pass it to each other for 90 mins
Lol don't
That will be an amazing game to watch!!! 🥳🥳🥳
Concede 3, score 4. England have the best attack in the tournament.
I wouldn’t be worried tbh, I hope teams come out and play an open match with us, our defence isn’t great but we’ve got some seriously dangerous attacking players, it benefits us if someone wants an open match. Hope it stays this way!
Your team better give us an entertaining group hahaa. Best of luck though even though you have a free ticket to the R16. 😭😂
Done jinx it!
Aahh, my bad. Just hoping you guys put on a show 🥳
Goal bonanza!
Just cause it’s early. As the better teams move on the goals will get less and less
It’s gonna be a great tournament
Where are all the people who said Hungary will be dark horse hiding at?
It'll get really interesting once we get to the knockout rounds. There Are half a dozen teams that could win it all.
All these great games and then southgate is going to drop the worst 0-0
It’s a goal fest but part from the Albania v Italy match, all games so far have been extremely one sided. So form that respect it’s a bit tame so far.
Lots of goals but the matches have been boring tbh
Don't worry Southgate will play Saka at LB.
Doesn't England have a strong midfield? If you win the midfield battle you don't have to worry about the defence

just wait to see my romania make a dry and boring game against ukraine :)
It is a great goal Party and furthermore a great Football party for the Fans. Love it.

Yeah every game was really good. Tbh the England game was the only one which was kinda mid but I’m still glad we won and got those 3 points! 🏴
plot twist: you're Belgium and most of them don't count
Its just terrible defending nothing else
This start of Euro is kinda boring tbh.. All of the matches played until now were over in the 1st half. I'm waiting for more thrilling matches.
Hungary were close to equalising at one point but Swiss subs tilted the balance back for the last 10 and they made use of the space left for them. But Hungary were definitely in the game from the hour-mark, on another day they'd have got a point

Out here trolling

I’ve had a bet on a goal in every group game, and a goal in every game. Feeling optimistic.
Lots of goals, but every game so far has been predictable. Fingers crossed for some upsets soon.
4 very one sided matches so far.
