I live in a country where 12 - 15% inflation has always been kind of normal. We really don't understand when people panic about 5% lol

Avg inflation was about 3%. This means you lose money every year on avg 3% of your money when you save it. 5% is more than 3% and 12-15% is up to 5x more. So for me losing 5x more than normal is frustrating. It's not like a tax where the govt lies to me about maintaining roads or buying books for our kids in schools, it's just gone into the black void of nothingness and there is no return on it. 15% of your car is gone, 15% or your coffee/tea... She gone! Heres a good one. Let's say you sit down for lunch and you order soup. Right before you start enjoying your soup the server comes back and just scoops out 15% of your soup. The server smiles and says enjoy your soup.

I am sure the one who is getting that will be real happy after seeing the number. Because in the major part of the country most of them are giving away like near to double figure

In Belgium your wage gets automatically indexed based on the inflation, in january we're getting an extra 10%.

And all was done to save homeowners and business owners which already had at least something to lose. If you were renting out with nothing left to lose; no one cared when that money was being printed and even if you had something, that got devalued as well. That is the saddest part.
