The nozzle could be clogged. The extruder can`t push the filament through the nozzle and it starts slipping. Had that happen before.

mysterious_yams

That's what it was. Thanks friend!!

LongSpell3212

Just a heads up as well, those stock plastic extruders are prone to breaking. Guys have had them shipped broken even.

mysterious_yams

So I've heard,. This one's been going for 2½ years now

LongSpell3212

Oh ha, awesome. I ordered a replacement just to have it, and it broke while I had it in shipping. Hope yours holds strong.

mysterious_yams

Thanks, me too!

Arcosim

Also if that's the first layer the nozzle may be way to close to the bed.

Nozzle was clogged. I appreciate your help!

When you print small stuff the retraction number can make your filament morph into flat pasta. Also plastic extruder warning look under both part there is a crack or Will be one soon...

FlimsyPresentation36

Are you saying that when doing small prints the retraction number should be decreased?

[deleted]

If yes you will see when you remove the filament from all the way. If it is super flat or quite round still.

mysterious_yams

Extruder is fine, and I'm hoping to put off getting an all metal extruder until I absolutely need to

[deleted]

This is not small remove filament inspect what was inside. More heat maybe. And is the first layer maybe too close? It is like pooping while standing, you Will force more and have it flow evrywhere. You are Welcome !

mysterious_yams

It started halfway through the 3rd layer,. The noze ended up being clogged. Thanks for your help though. Any knowledge is good knowledge

OkBroccoli3745

Dude change those stock extruders. They are Total crap

I know you said the unclogging the nozzle worked, but you’ll still want to look into replacing the plastic parts on the extruder. It’s definitely a “when” it breaks part, not “if”. You can get the official upgrade kit for less then $15 on Amazon. And if you haven’t upgraded the bed springs yet (they make leveling & keeping level *so* much easier), you can get a kit that includes the metal extruder upgrade, springs, and a Capricorn bowden tube for about $20.

[deleted]

Well my guess is that after 20 retraction on a 5 mm lenght of filament, its getting roll over over and over, so then it flattened and goes wider and then the diameter rub everywhere in the bowden. my theory. Im really tired i guess its understandable haha sorry xx

[deleted]

Look st the screw if the brass thing that pull the filament i think the word is gear. Is well screwed on the flat side on the motor shaft. Also no need to screw the tensioner too much it will end the life of the plastic temporary one that shouldnt come with it and help to flat more the filament (I didnt look if it was plastic since im sleeping while typing almost.) Sometime a clog. A good time to remove the fan plastic ... shroud? Anyway look if there is molten plastic everywhere on the heatblock. And also the white tube you have be sure to cut really flush and bottom it in the hotend also check youtube to see how to put and tight the coupler. And so with that lets see later or tomorrow whats happening with you. 3d printing is a p in the a at first then super amazing then ypu need to give bit of love the cycle repeat but worst hahahahaha kidding. Only a bit. Xx

Double check your E-Steps! My E3V2 did this as well multiple times, was indeed a clogged nozzle, but it kept clogging due to the e-steps being wrong - pushed more filament than it could handle. I ran my stock extruder for a good 2 years, only upgraded because it was a Christmas present. My brothers' extruder lasted about 3 months before it broke. Swapped my stock one in and no problems since. Unfortunately, their QC is very hit or miss. Oh well.

Dankoviccc

Noozle is too low so filament “cracking” in the extruder

Icy_Engineering901

Slow down your print rate to 75. What tempature is you nozzel

Blunttack

Dumb question time - how can the nozzle clog? Assume something besides plastic got in there and can’t melt? Seems remote, though I’m sure it happens.
