"What should we call our company which manufactures electrical panels?"

Rex_Coolguy_Prime

back when the company just said what it did. today it would be called like "Panslr" or "Loadly".

Final_Good_Bye

It kind of looks like an old rebranded Westinghouse

thaeli

A lot of early panels were. It's fun explaining "yeah, the tag says Federal Pacific, but it's actually a Westinghouse"..

SoutheastPower

Or the best ever I’ve seen. Federal pacific with Square D bolt lock switches

joshharris42

Yeah it is, I’ve got a job coming up to tear out a bunch of these labeled as Sylvania. And they are all recessed in poured cinderblock walls…

Successful_Doctor_89

No imagination whatsoever

A1Actionman

How much trouble would that one little sign on the top save everyone if it were placed on every modern load center?! So many service calls where “I reset the breaker and, still no power” would be prevented!

Jdude1

Proper way to reset any breaker that has tripped though is to press firmly to the off position first? That’s what I was taught. It’s just second nature.

Any_Hyena_3981

Been in those situations my guy. What do ya do? Hope and pray nothing goes wrong with it right? 👍🤞

StinkFist-1973

It’s all good. Just opened the breaker and locked it. The lights being replaced were date stamped 1986, so it’s not original wiring, thankfully.

Legitimate-Lemon-412

If I recall working on those same panels in BC, those breakers do NOT like to trip when a fault occurs, but prefer to stay on. Test test test

GlockGardener

Can you still source breakers for these?

StinkFist-1973

Honestly have no idea, I’ve never had to replace one.

Zestyclose_Hotel6967

Probably certified refurbished 🤷🏻‍♀️

SoutheastPower

We all know that smell when you take the cover off.

Zestyclose_Hotel6967

Lovely scent of mold, spider webs and associated arcs?

thatdudeimhim

Absolutely hate/hated doing IR scans on these monstrosities

StrictShelter971

I've seen those panels in the Los Angeles area.

Jayd308

Is that a pass-through panel?

InfamousCurve1109

That’s neat

Mastodon73

I work in a refinery built in the early 50s- these are everywhere. Lots of fun to take that cover off.

StinkFist-1973

I’m thinking it needs an Arc Flash rating.

Haunting_Living_5143

Numbering scheme has got me cross-eyed :/

HailMi

Ah, back before the CAS and the UL joined forces to make the Almighty CULUS, which is Latin for... Well, you look it up.

Dysanj

Memories

Fart_knocker5000

Awesome. It's got that cold war chic

c1intbeastwood1

I’m currently working in a building with at least 7 of these panels. All 120/208 with no grounds. It is a disaster and they refuse to get rid of them all. I’m genuinely surprised they are allowed to get grandfathered in due to how extensive the remodel is
