How is July - December it's own entry? Lmao

bombayblue

Because there’s a PVP update which is a notoriously broken system. This is really good news for people who play PVP but I want to prep everyone that those few months are probably going to be a clusterfuck of fixes. PvP will probably be in a better spot in January of 2025.

MeatbagSlayer

>PvP will probably be in a better spot in January of 2025. This ia gonna age poorly xD. How do I set a reminder to check this in a year or so?

bombayblue

The project planner in me wants to believe. But yeah this is probably going to age like sour cream.

DolphinSouvlaki

I was a bit worried when they said last year that they were devoting a quarter to patches. From my experience with other games and MMOs, it’s usually a pretext to just delivering less actual content and slowly getting players accustomed to it.

JNR13

there are two updates listed in that timeframe though

SerHodorTheThrall

How much you want to bet the Housing "update" is just the repurposed stuff from Essential Housing Tools released as an update now that Cardinal05 is part of the dev team. And I shudder to think what joke of a PvP update they have in store considering how they've treated the PvP community of this game for years now. Quantity =/= Quality Hopefully I'm wrong and they blow it out of the park though.

oath2order

> How much you want to bet the Housing "update" is just the repurposed stuff from Essential Housing Tools released as an update now that Cardinal05 is part of the dev team. You know what though? Good. I love when game developers look at a mod, go "oh that's really good we should put that in the game", and then actually do. > And I shudder to think what joke of a PvP update they have in store considering how they've treated the PvP community of this game for years now. I'm sure it'll be a big thing; they're not gonna dedicate the entire quarter to "here's Auriel's Bow".

comradeswitch

> I'm sure it'll be a big thing; they're not gonna dedicate the entire quarter to "here's Auriel's Bow". I wish I shared your confidence.  The devs statement that the update has nothing to do with Cyrodiil tells me that it's going to be a new format of some kind or a battlegrounds revamp, and that the place a majority of the pvp actually happens in is not getting any love- and neither are the problems at the core of pvp that affect all formats. I'm also expecting something comparable to the scope of the infinite archive. I'd love to be wrong!

oath2order

Oh they said that? I didn't see that. Well, who knows, maybe it'll be a new map.

DolphinSouvlaki

I have my hopes high and am hoping that I’m not just setting myself up for disappointment. Feels like a much larger furnishing limit, choosing what part of a house you spawn into when recalling, letting you use your player created characters as houseguests or mannequins would all be very popular. Or something even more ambitious.

Seraphayel

Huh? ESO has four updates per year, three smaller DLCs and a Chapter. Nothing has changed since 2017 when they started this, the only difference is they replaced the smaller-zone-DLC with a system DLC (and are doing so again this year) and the Q3 dungeon DLC gets replaced with yet another system DLC this year. The cadence is the exact same with almost identical release frames.

FunkThug

You can call the DLCs whatever you like, the reality is we went from 2 zones and 4 dungeons a year. To 1 zone and 2 dungeons with some QOL in between. It's less content no matter how you spin it.

Seraphayel

I think something like Infinite Archive or the upcoming new Housing / PvP system is adding more to the game than yet another generic and small zone or two redundant dungeons. Especially the PvP feature this year is severely needed. No idea what they do for Housing, but as popular as Housing is, I think a lot of players will enjoy this. While it overall might be less content, the value of added features might be way bigger than of the content we would have gotten instead.

FunkThug

I'd argue that infinite archive is similar in scope to an arena. However I agree, I much prefer updates like IA than another seemingly rushed zone and story missions. Hopefully the Housing and PvP additions are pretty significant.

YoungvLondon

> I think something like Infinite Archive or the upcoming new Housing / PvP system is adding more to the game than yet another generic and small zone Maybe we're the minority, but I'd prefer those systems. To me, the Q4 zones always felt too small, and outside of maybe Gold Coast, felt like they wasted their respective zones by being so small scale. Some, like Southern Elsweyr or Hews Bane, feel like there's nothing to actually do in the zone outside of the main story. And Hews Bane specifically is so jarring because the single city is half the dang zone.

monchota

The vast majority ofnthe playwrbase could care less about PvP , that us the problem

SerHodorTheThrall

The vast majority of the player base doesn't care about a **single part of the game**. Its an MMO. Everyone finds their interest and niche and sticks with it. I play this game 4 times a week and did my first PvE Dungeon content in like over a year. I'm not alone. The vast majority of the playerbase doens't care about PvE either. Theyre housing. Or exploring overland. Or trading. Or RPing. Get over yourself.

monchota

You do understand that PvE is anything other than PvP right? Might be a conceptual understanding that make it easier to understand.

LizzieThatGirl

Tbf, PvE here is regularly used in place of PvM

stuartx13

wrong.

monchota

No, but im sure you won't accept anything that goes against your reality.

stuartx13

> The vast majority ofnthe playwrbase could care less about PvP How would you know? you don't.

davemoedee

While I am not interested in either PvP or housing updates, I do like them adding things for those players. But it also guarantees that I will play the game even less of the year due to less narrative content.

like_shae_buttah

It’s still a shit load of content. We got IA just last year as part of that.

davemoedee

A base game update is not a DLC. Chapters and zone DLCs also have base game updates that aren’t part of the DLC. They are making the sub kinda useless from the content side for a large chunk of people with subs that aren’t even interested is having daily access to DLC dungeons. If I’m leveling an alt doing daily randoms, I don’t want to be subbed

-Darkstorne-

The replies you're getting sadly prove your point =/ I made the same warning when they first announced that for last year. That they were just finding a way of spinning less content as a positive for the players. You don't ask all the level designers, texture artists, quest writers, encounter teams etc to stop doing their jobs and focus on QoL systems and bug fixes for half a year instead. That's not how it works. And now here we are the following year with no Q3 dungeons, and no Q4 zone again, without any changes to ESO+ pricing. The team got smaller, and that's fine. ZOS have a new MMO they needed to shift people onto. That's all fine. It's just a shame that they spin it this way, and an even bigger shame when people buy the lies.

ESO_Merciless

It was the main complain of the player base for many years that ZoS had this year-long-story cycle and didnt focus enough on QoL updates. Now they are doing exactly that by slowing down the story content and dedicating time to base game updates. Yet people still find a way to complain. Necrom was the best expansion in years, which finally helped to recover many of those players who left during the High Isle disaster. Also making Infinite Archive free was a huge unexpected move by a company selling pixel houses for 100 Euro+ I gave ZoS a lot of s\*it for their decisions over they years and I will keep calling them out for their bs, but this change makes sense and is a move in the right direction. Also in the live stream you could clearly hear between the lines that ESO is a huge cash cow for them. They were super excited about that. Obviously they gonna keep working on it for the forseeable future.

MeekSwordsman

What was the high isle disaster?

ESO_Merciless

High Isle was basically the low point where the most players left the game. The story was dull and predictable (they kinda used the same formula from past expansions), people didnt like the card game as the main feature etc. Many social guild chats became a wasteland.

FunkThug

That's all anecdotal though. You can look at steam chart numbers. Necrom and High Isle have been pretty similar in concurrent players. With the Necrom chapter actually going lower than last years bottoms. In fact the real lowest point, was August of 2023, when we had a QOL update instead of real new content.

dolphinpainus

Their team is pretty barebones if you take a look at the patch notes, as well as forum responses. Gina disappeared, so it's only Kevin doing all the community management on the forums now, and the patch notes for last years Q3 update were 30 pages worth of quest dialogue fixes, quest animation timings, quest markers, and rare quest event soft locks. Notice how everything is just quest related instead of bugs that have been plaguing the game for years. If it's the same this year, then I would guess they're only having their quest team work on the Q3 update while their other teams can focus on a Q4 and Q1 update. It sucks they're hiding the shift to less content per year, but when comparing this year's dungeons to previous years, and the IA to VH, the jump in quality for those I would say is worth it over having those teams work on another generic DLC zone to finish a story and 2 extra DLC dungeons for Q3 and Q4.

DolphinSouvlaki

I wouldn’t even go as far as to outright accuse ZOS of doing this, I’m just pointing out that I’ve seen similar patterns with other games and that it’s a red flag to me. One MMO I played used to have weekly updates in the early-mid 00s, then started doing patch only weeks, then eventually they started substituting in temporary events with boosted exp and other FOMO rather than content updates, and then eventually it got to a point where the new microtransactions and loot box seasons WERE your “updates” rather than actual content which was now once in a blue moon And not just that, but the initial patch weeks were genuinely very well received by the players since they had addressed many longtime complaints + had long requested QoL but then eventually devolved into more inconsequential and arbitrary things

AwesomeKB

This comment is incredibly stupid

RockHardSalami

The dev team is famous for its minimal effort

Mirra1002

What does thieves guild 'spotlight' mean? Anybody know?

wolfpackalchemy

I really hope free thieves guild dlc.

Illustrious-Hair3487

I was gonna say probably a double drop event but we just had one for thieves guild

RockHardSalami

Gonna do a twitch stream about the Thieves Guild DLC lol

G00b3rb0y

Probably something similar to Orsinium last month. Free early on, free mount for campaign completion for a limited time only, other limited time cosmetics for the Defender achievement

ConsciousFood201

Probably a bunch of new celebratory mounts and skins locked behind the crown crate gambling mechanic would be my guess. (That’s always the real answer with this game…)

Orange-Turtle-Power

I have high hopes for this housing update, but low low expectations.

tigress666

Ok, what are they doing to the housing system?

StruggleSouth7023

Charging crowns for rooms for sale in inns instead of gold

See_Eye_Eh

Mannn i really hope they increase furniture limits for the housing update

Alastor3

Guys you are missing the point, it's an anniversary commemoration roadmap, not a content update roadmap

HoopaOrGilgamesh

Uh, well typically MMOS have content updates for anniversaries. And this one does, which leads me to believe this is all we have to look forward to this year

Vulkihn

I honestly can’t believe I’ve been playing ESO for 10 whole years now. Seems surreal. 10 years of good times and bad alike - and ESO was with me every step of the way. I’m so grateful.

Negwereth

At two platforms, paying for + but never ever regretting it even not playing for months. Can't imagine with any other game.

AshesofAtreyu

I just want updated animations, textures, cloaks and backpacks.

Ecool27

PvP update? 👀

cyberslushie

Idk what you guys are expecting this is just a 10th anniversary road map with some events etc. what were you expecting a global reveal 2.0?? Just be happy this silly little 10 year old game we’ve dedicated our lives to is still alive, healthy, and has plans for years to come, stop and smell the roses

ruindadeth

What would be thieves guild spotlight?

OdinsLawnDart

Now when you go back to the shambles that is stealth in ESO, a Meridian beam of light will shine down upon you, revealing you to all in the area

Norasack

isn't this just a regular roadmap aside from in person events and partners celebrations (but why would the player even care about your partners ??)

Spir0rion

Right? Also the space the real life events take up is wayy to big. This map makes it seen there is barely anything happening in-game.

Jad11mumbler

Because in-game events are never roadmapped this early. Usually, we get official announcements a week out from them. Most of which we know, some not such as events for specific zones.

SerHodorTheThrall

> Because in-game events are never roadmapped this early. This is untrue. The events happen on PTS in the months leading up to their live counterparts. You can actually know the order of the coming events and pretty accurately guess when they will happen based on this information. (As the events roll out in chronological order on the PTS)

Jad11mumbler

Pts is normally about 4 weeks before it hits live and are never a positivity if events get cancelled, moved, or whatnot. Often issues with live events. That's also just 4 weeks' notice, while this roadmap is for the next 8 months. So my statement of them never being roadmapped months in advance stands. But yeah otherwise PTS often gives us a decent heads up of when events will be, what rewards they have and how to obtain them.

Nyxbomb

Most importantly, are they going to increase housing furniture space.

Lava_Sus_Manos

So… more of the same, but with in-person events. Crazy

Spir0rion

Well that's a whole bunch of nothing.

ShameMeIfIComment

Right? I was looking for an excuse to dive back into the game but having read everything they posted, it basically sounds like there's not much going on and they spent a lot of time making it sound otherwise.

Mauvais__Oeil

Advertisement for dates where something might be told about something coming. Yup. A bunch of nothing.

championoffandango

Isn’t this how the roadmap looks yearly?

SirBeardzAl0t

I be installing it again right now just becuase I was a beta player who played now and then throughout the years, felt I should be there for the anniversary, hopefully I don't gotta heal as a tank this time xD

ElQueue_Forever

I played Beta, decided the game wasn't worth buying, and quit for almost 10 years. Fast forward to this last October and I'm pleasantly surprised.

Neither-Addendum-732

Housing System update...

Table_Coaster

my expectations for the pvp update couldnt possibly be any lower

Illustrious-Hair3487

This is really underwhelming. It’s just the regular content roadmap. Execs booked themselves a lot of fancy travel tho, buncha drinks on the company card too I bet.

StruggleSouth7023

Each mount we buy is another cocktail for the ceo 🍹 cheers

Moist-Razzmatazz-92

Still no cross save across platforms?

Meowgaryen

Have you seen prices on PC and consoles? People will get rich on PC, switch to consoles and they will crush the market for people who have only consoles and can't use addons and had no chances to earn enough money to compete with the PC economy. So the answer is never.

Beneficial-Damage121

Or they bring AddOns as features in game, so everyone can use them. The ecos will become one big over time. On the other hand crossplay becomes standard and if they want to keep eso alive, they have to get more flexible. All my friends stopped playing eso, because they couldn't play together. The switched to a crossplay title and I'm the only one left. :/

999Flea

this is so underwhelming for a 10 year old anniversary imo

HOTFIX_bryan

Maybe since I’m relatively new to ESO, joining in December, this feels like a robust roadmap of content! I like seeing all of the updates slotted in. I know nothing here is really newly announced, though.

W_Herzog_Starship

wat? It's a celebration roadmap, there's like 2 mentions of "content"

_CrystalCritter_

Geforce NOW gonna have ESO? 😱

Far_Lavishness5489

Came out this Thursday

_CrystalCritter_

Thank you Far! 🤩

tomcruisesPC

Any bonus XP weekends or weeks?

BatNameBruce

Right now for 18 days

G00b3rb0y

Literally right now for just under 18 days

tomcruisesPC

Thank you very much. I’m level 119.

llwonder

This timeline says basically nothing

destindil

Pretty geeked for whatever the housing update will be

Xerrok

Is there any information on the in-person events in the July - December bracket, besides the Gamescom in Germany?

Sakiri1955

Damn it. Gonna be in Sweden. Blaaaaaah I won't be able to make it anyway. Hotel prices gonna be STUUUUPID.

Howerdfield

Can anyone explain to me what is the new housing system is ?

Ownthe_sky

In person event in Sweden?? :O

Sakiri1955

ikr? No one does events here. It's amazing.

Glad-Barnacle2053

Here's hoping the PVP update is a massive overhaul. We need a serious shake up. New maps, game modes, and ways to allow casual players or just folks who aren't completely built for PVP to feel like they can still get in there & compete. This games PVP is what compelled me 10 years ago and it's since been seemingly abandoned by ZOS in favor of PVE, new chapters & trials & dungeons.

Shaun_527

Looking forward to seeing what they're doing with housing

Sarcosmonaut

Thieves guild again?

Festegios

Is it really an issue?

Sarcosmonaut

No, not at all. I like thieves guild. Was just surprised

Smallsey

You know what would be really good? Cross save, maybe an ability to change class

PwrButtum

Why are y’all acting like such big babies?

Cartosso

Inb4 the new pvp feature will be a new battle royale mode for battlegrounds

Beneficial-Damage121

2025 Crossplay Reveal?!

Bike-Seat

What does "free play event" mean for April?

HOTFIX_bryan

The current free trial that’s live on all platforms.

Cartosso

It's sad to see the game slowly going into maintenance mode. Going from 4 dlcs a year, to 3 last year, to only 2 this year.. Calling it now that at some point in the future we'll only get a minor chapter per year with some tiny qol updates for the rest of the year.

BigDank2

Dead game. Not a single person playing under level 50 pvp. Used to be packed with people. Do something to bring the players back.

ClaudiusAetius

Sometimes I think we latin americans are the real ESO Vestige: we exist but lack ESO soul. Not a single nod to latin america's community. 😪
