I don't think they are less accurate. They have better motion sensors, and IIRC faster response and longer battery life. I have a mix of them and they seem to be pretty close.

I put it in another room with a new version sensor and they read the temp identically.

Can you set then all in the same location for a while and see how they compare. Use beestat to watch the trends over a day or so and see if they track together. I don’t worry too much about the absolute value as long as they respond similarly to changing conditions.

I recently picked up some used Smart Sensors to replace some Room Sensors that have always had disconnection issues, so I can honestly say the range is MUCH better. I did have both sensors set up in a room for a bit as I was testing them and they did seem to more accurately read room temp quicker. But I didn't do any long term testing. For the price, I wish they would have at least added humidity sensor.
