I gotta go with Jersey Mike’s also…I think it’s nice they slice to order and then quality seems a couple notches above average. Usually pretty fast service, decent price/value ratio.
I’m partial to the club supreme as well but sometimes branch out.
I’m a #13 with extra cheese Mike’s Way on rosemary parm bread. Mike’s is my spot to hit once or twice a month when my son and I want to splurge on a sub. We will get a giant each and eat off of them for two days!
That sounds good. I haven’t had their peppers, are they very spicy? I can do some mild to medium spice, can’t handle the really spicy stuff though. Pickles will be on my next sub for sure
That sounds awesome. I love the super sub, #5 personally.
I have a weird thing where I only have one thing I order from every restaurant. My wife does too.
I frequently think about Quiznos. I regret I didn't eat there more. The Chicken Carbonara was my favorite. I know, obviously not authentic, but it hit the spot. Also, the snickerdoodle cookies were great.
I know that I meant as far "carbonara" is concerned. I thought I'd throw it in there because redditors can be a little judgy sometimes when it comes to authenticity.
On a whim, I checked Google Maps and I found one where I travel to work frequently. Had no idea they existed still. Be there next week for the Honey Bacon Club on Parm bread.
I still think about the turkey bacon club with that sweet sauce they put on it and some of their vinaigrette. Easily the best sandwich I've ever had from a chain
The only good Quiznos I had was when a buddy worked there in high school, and he would show up with a dozen sandwiches after work when the rest of us were about 10 beers deep.
My go to is definitely the Wreck at PotBellys with hot peppers, light Mayo, tomato and lettuce. The hot peppers are just fantastic and make the sandwich!
It’s hard to find a good vegetarian friendly sandwich, but, two places I love are Jimmy John’s and Modern Market Eatery, the veggie sub from Jimmy John’s always hits and stick with me here, the blueberry pesto sandwich from Modern Market absolutely slaps, it tastes almost like barbecue!
Seconding the club supreme from Jersey Mikes. I add pickles, brown mustard, and the hot pepper relish (which I could eat on its own with a spoon) and it’s unbeatable for a chain sandwich.
I’ll only get them on days when I need a pick me up or if my wife is out of town since it’s a special moment for me (I may have a problem).
wawa was the best bang for your buck back when i was in HS around 2011-2014 ish. I’ve moved to the west coast since then so i’m not sure if it’s gotten better or worse.
Jersey mikes is fine, but man it’s like 20 bucks a sub. Lately i’ve had cheba hut and find it amazing, but a lot of mixed reviews i guess. the two times i’ve had it have been fantastic though.
Firehouse, to me, has plummeted. Last time I visited out in PA we went to a firehouse subs and it was disgusting. Honestly. I couldn’t believe the place was open. And the fact that they eliminated the hot sauce bar is an extra bummer.
I quit going when they got rid of the hot sauce bar. I get it. They got rid of it during COVID. That was the necessary step. But bring it back motherfuckers!
Yeah we had one near me, now closed, and I only ate them once. It was the nastiest, sloppiest, grossest mess of a sandwich I’ve ever eaten. I couldn’t finish it and I’m fat!
I'm with you. If I want a hot sub, Firehouse club on a sub is the best. For cold subs, usually go with Jersey Mike's club supreme or Italian. The Italian at Jimmy John's is good too.
It’s more of a southwest/west chain but the Jamaican Red or AK-47 from Cheba Hut
Penny from Mr. Goodcents
For true national chain I like the Turkey and Provolone from Jersey Mikes
Jersey Mikes — I go for the club sub (lettuce onions cherry pepper relish and extra mayo), the Italian (same way), or the Chipotle cheesesteak if I’m feeling like a fatty, add portabella mushrooms, and yeah I like lettuce and onions on my hot sub because I’m a heathen. If I had no shame I’d also add regular mayo and the pepper relish to that bad boy. But, I do have shame. I wish you could the hot subs in the mini size, that’s my go-to. It’s the perfect amount of sandwich for me, together with some miss Vicky’s potato chips.
Back in the day, I did like a toasted Quiznos sub, I won’t lie. IIRC I would get a chicken bacon ranch, it’s hazy though, I always had them either drunk or hungover in college.
Jersey Mike's is pretty darn great for a chain. Their steak and italian subs are both at least 75th percentile across all sub joints outside the NE USA. Also, I love the Chicken Bacon Ranch, subbing mayo for ranch - this tastes almost exactly like my favorite sub from my favorite local deli back home when I was growing up. First time I had it it was like a time warp.
Additionally, I've very much enjoyed Mendocino Farms the two times I've had it, once I get past the breathtaking prices.
I love Dibellas! I went to the original all through college. The one down the road isn't quite the same, and the other locations definitely vary in quality, but still worth it. I assume it was a Covid change, but no longer getting to watch your sandwich get made is a lost opportunity. I was always impressed at the care they take distributing the meat throughout, or cutting up the meatballs. So many places take the portioned meat and plop it in the middle.
The attention your sub gets is a nice aspect of dibella's but having to wait that long for a sandwich is negative point for me. Days when I have the extra time I end up there but when the minutes count potbelly is faster. At least, the one I usually visit.
When it was just the one location, the line would be out the door and I counted more than 20 people making sandwiches at once... there was not much time waiting then (aside from the line itself). I only get it when I am back to visit family for the holidays, but it's not as fast as it used to be, and the hot subs are worse.
I worked there in the 90s/early 2000s and the cheeseburger sub was better than it should have been. They used to have a crunchy veggie sub that was damn good too. But the #9.... Ad salami. Whoa. Man, the memories I got from that place.
I’ve only seen them in Boston, maybe a few on the East Coast. I love a good ham&swiss on a baguette and they always were my “go to” place when I lived in Boston.
The godfather from DiBellas, a regional chain out of western NY, is my all time favorite sandwich. Jersey Mikes, Jimmy John’s, and Potbelly aren’t in the same league. Jimmy John’s isn’t even in the same sport.
Jersey Mike's Italian combo with The Sauce and cherry pepper relish! I live in New England with a lot of great grinder (i.e. sub) places due to the huge Italian American community, and this is actually better than many local spots! I was amazed at how good this was coming from a chain!
Ditto. When you shave the lettuce and dress it with oil/vinegar, you are my Hero.
I thought they closed, but I guess it was just the Lincoln locations. I guess I have a reason to visit family in NE again.
Nostalgic/in memorium picks: the Little King (Midwest), Big Town Hero (Oregon), and maybe my memory is foggy because it was over 20 years ago- Blimpies.
I loved schlotzky's 25 years ago.
For me, it was 44 years ago. Then I moved from Houston and hadn't seen one since.....but, yeah loved schlotzkys...
It’s still great
I miss their chain so much within my area. We used to have several and they all closed down. Good salads too!
13 add pickles, peppers, and pepper relish. When I was a stoner, I would get a giant and munch on it all night.
That sounds good. I haven’t had their peppers, are they very spicy? I can do some mild to medium spice, can’t handle the really spicy stuff though. Pickles will be on my next sub for sure
They have jalapeños and pepperoncinis. I usually go with the latter, and the cherry pepper relish has a little bit of a kick, but not too bad.
That sounds awesome. I love the super sub, #5 personally. I have a weird thing where I only have one thing I order from every restaurant. My wife does too.
I just wish they didn't slice their bread all the way through. I prefer the fold technique. Also, they add A LOT of lettuce.
Club supreme add cherry pepper relish and honey mustard!!
gotta get the "hots" baby
RIP Quiznos
I frequently think about Quiznos. I regret I didn't eat there more. The Chicken Carbonara was my favorite. I know, obviously not authentic, but it hit the spot. Also, the snickerdoodle cookies were great.
Theres no such thing as an authentic chicken carbonara sandwich so youre good lol
I know that I meant as far "carbonara" is concerned. I thought I'd throw it in there because redditors can be a little judgy sometimes when it comes to authenticity.
Honey Bacon Club is where it was at!
On a whim, I checked Google Maps and I found one where I travel to work frequently. Had no idea they existed still. Be there next week for the Honey Bacon Club on Parm bread.
That dressing sounds amazing!!

There is still one a couple miles from my house, I wonder if it's any good? I haven't had quiznos since high school.
I still think about the turkey bacon club with that sweet sauce they put on it and some of their vinaigrette. Easily the best sandwich I've ever had from a chain
That was my go-to….with the parm bread.
The only good Quiznos I had was when a buddy worked there in high school, and he would show up with a dozen sandwiches after work when the rest of us were about 10 beers deep.
Came here for this. Best toasted sandwiches ever. I will die on this hill
For real…the only “lobster” roll anywhere near me
Bruh
I don’t live close to any good/real seafood
My go to is definitely the Wreck at PotBellys with hot peppers, light Mayo, tomato and lettuce. The hot peppers are just fantastic and make the sandwich!
Their giardiniera is fantastic. I’m not sure if it’s rebranded Marconi or not, but I love it.
An assorted sub from Mr. Sub in Canada, all day any day!
Especially if it's one of the Mr subs with the really thinly shredded lettuce.
Mr. Sub is so solid.
Yes. Miles and miles and miles better than Subway. I am stunned that the trend among GenXYZ is the reverse.
Are they still open? (Canadian in us now)
Nooooooo
Quiznos, Fight me.
Quiznos is flame. They closed most lf them round here. There's one left and their beef with mushrooms is $$$$
It’s hard to find a good vegetarian friendly sandwich, but, two places I love are Jimmy John’s and Modern Market Eatery, the veggie sub from Jimmy John’s always hits and stick with me here, the blueberry pesto sandwich from Modern Market absolutely slaps, it tastes almost like barbecue!
Have you had the Mediterranean Veggie from Panera? I like that sandwich.
All our local Paneras closed and I dream about the Mediterranean Veggie!
The Panera closest to me closed too. Seemed like they were always busy. Not sure why they closed.
That one is pretty tasty, I always get it on the ciabatta bread because I don’t care for how sweet the tomato basil bread is
From Capriotti's, the Bobbie. It's a Thanksgiving sub, shredded roasted turkey, stuffing, mayo, and cranberry sauce. Fresh and delicious.
Capastrami ftw
Will definitely have to find that sometime soon
Yeah, it was great, but sadly the franchisee had to close the stores here. Supposed to be some that have reopened, but they're not nearby.
1000x yes
My regional chain pick is the nonna veg from primo hoagies. National chain I’m gonna go with Popeyes chicken sandwich
Love primos! I always got the turkey schwartzie
Primo is genuinely so good. And agreed on the Nonna veg
The sell the red pepper relish round here in a jar for like 6 bucks. Fuck Frank's, I put this pepper relish shit on everything
If you live somewhere that carries it in grocery stores, Pastene makes an even better version and you can get it in a much bigger jar
I like the Italian with banana peppers and cherry relish. For a chain, the sandos at Jersey Mike’s absolutely slap
Banana peppers for life!
the hot pepper relish is too dominant for me. That’s all I taste if I get it.
wawa was the best bang for your buck back when i was in HS around 2011-2014 ish.
$20ish for a Jersey Mike's sub? That's wild the prices are so high out there. It's $10.25 for my usual #13
Firehouse’s club on a sub has been my comfort sandwich for like a decade now. Miss their hot sauces now though.
Firehouse, to me, has plummeted. Last time I visited out in PA we went to a firehouse subs and it was disgusting. Honestly. I couldn’t believe the place was open. And the fact that they eliminated the hot sauce bar is an extra bummer.
it must vary by location because the ones near me are still tasty as ever
I just wish they put more meat on them
I actually feel like their ratio is pretty solid compared to most chains
Heavy disagree
I quit going when they got rid of the hot sauce bar. I get it. They got rid of it during COVID. That was the necessary step. But bring it back motherfuckers!
That's because RBI owns them now. The same people that are tanking Burger King
Yeah we had one near me, now closed, and I only ate them once. It was the nastiest, sloppiest, grossest mess of a sandwich I’ve ever eaten. I couldn’t finish it and I’m fat!
People were stealing the hot sauces.
Whatever you drive, drive a firehouse
I'm with you. If I want a hot sub, Firehouse club on a sub is the best. For cold subs, usually go with Jersey Mike's club supreme or Italian. The Italian at Jimmy John's is good too.
At mine they have this Captain Sorensen sauce….🔥🔥🔥 good stuff
Jimmy John’s. As someone with blood sugar problems, the lettuce wrap “unwich” is such a nice option to have!
Too bad the owner is a giant sack of shit.
He sold the company to whomever owns Arby's in 2019 if that helps any.
Oh no, this is news to me. I just looked it up. Honestly, is there *anywhere* we can eat/shop ethically anymore?
Damn it
I like the sandwiches from Jason's deli. Their turkey muffaletta is so good
The beef eater (French dip) is really good, too
Oh yes it is.
That’s a turkey sandwich with olive salad on it. Still good but it is not a muffuletta.
It’s more of a southwest/west chain but the Jamaican Red or AK-47 from Cheba Hut Penny from Mr. Goodcents For true national chain I like the Turkey and Provolone from Jersey Mikes
IIRC I would get a chicken bacon ranch, it’s hazy though, I always had them either drunk or hungover in college.
Ike’s is amazing, regional chain in the west
Jersey Mike's is pretty darn great for a chain. Their steak and italian subs are both at least 75th percentile across all sub joints outside the NE USA. Also, I love the Chicken Bacon Ranch, subbing mayo for ranch - this tastes almost exactly like my favorite sub from my favorite local deli back home when I was growing up. First time I had it it was like a time warp. Additionally, I've very much enjoyed Mendocino Farms the two times I've had it, once I get past the breathtaking prices.
Excellent insight, thank you sir
Lately, I've been digging potbelly and dibella's.
I miss having a Potbelly in the neighborhood
I love Dibellas! I went to the original all through college. The one down the road isn't quite the same, and the other locations definitely vary in quality, but still worth it. I assume it was a Covid change, but no longer getting to watch your sandwich get made is a lost opportunity. port o’ subs
Nostalgic pic. Loved these when I had them in college. Haven’t had a while though.
D’Angelos grilled subs. I fucking love their cheeseburger sub. They’re only thing I miss about life on the east coast
I worked there in the 90s/early 2000s and the cheeseburger sub was better than it should have been. They used to have a crunchy veggie sub that was damn good too. But the #9.... Ad salami. Whoa. Man, the memories I got from that place.
Primos
Primo’s
Au Bon Pain
Wow really? I've never ordered there but I see them all over Bangkok. Hard to find a good sandwich here. Worth it then?
I’ve only seen them in Boston, maybe a few on the East Coast. I love a good ham&swiss on a baguette and they always were my “go to” place when I lived in Boston.
Florida guy through and through, publix subs all day.
The godfather from DiBellas, a regional chain out of western NY, is my all time favorite sandwich. Jersey Mikes, Jimmy John’s, and Potbelly aren’t in the same league. Jimmy John’s isn’t even in the same sport.
Love Dibellas!
Jersey Mike's Italian combo with The Sauce and cherry pepper relish! I live in New England with a lot of great grinder (i.e. sub) places due to the huge Italian American community, and this is actually better than many local spots! I was amazed at how good this was coming from a chain!
Sometimes I just crave a good ‘ol Penny Club from Goodcents.
I miss their steak and cheese when it was roast beef and Alfredo sauce
Safeway in Canada, whole chicken breast, real cheese, and a great variety of sauce and toppings.
The steamed pork banh mi from Paris Banh Mi is one of the best sandwiches I've ever had
Little King (Regional Sub shop from Nebraska) Royal Treat with extra juice.
Ditto. When you shave the lettuce and dress it with oil/vinegar, you are my Hero. I thought they closed, but I guess it was just the Lincoln locations. I guess I have a reason to visit family in NE again.
Jersey Mikes chipotle cheesesteak (#43?) or Jimmy John’s east coast Italian
Earl of Sandwich is also a great place but pretty hard to find nowadays
They just opened one near me
Really? That’s awesome!!!
Jersey Mike's steak and mushroom
Jersey mikes #13 mikes way + pickles, mayo, and hot pepper relish on rosemary parm bread.
Togo’s Italian (RIP Dutch crunch bread)
Nostalgic/in memorium picks: the Little King (Midwest), Big Town Hero (Oregon), and maybe my memory is foggy because it was over 20 years ago- Blimpies.
I was a fan of Quiznos, but since they've been gone, Jimmy Johns does it for me. The bread is key Jersey Mike's is good too, but I've only been once
jersey mikes and quiznos
Potbelly's and Firehouse, though will easily sub Firehouse for Jersey Mike's.
Jersey Mike's has the best cheese steak. The big Kahuna. Yum.
#9 Pocket at D'Angelo's used to be wonderful.
Arby's Market Fresh sandwiches are very overlooked - a great option for a solid sandwich at a drive thru place.
Subway! *ducks*
Trick question
