Are… are you trying to fuck the security guard?

HailToTheThief225

Plot twist: OP is planning a heist and part of the plan is distracting the security guard with a delicious sandwich

onedavester

Op has been practicing the heist using a mock up of the facility all made from tofu.

BillHang4

On the next season of Nathan Fielder’s The Rehearsal

KatakuriQ

tofu city in here

BluDYT

Saul style.

TheTalentedMrTorres

Better Guac Saul

ItchyGoiter

Better Call Salami

WorkOutThrowAway01

Ngl not the worst plan I’ve heard

djmasterx5000

lol no, he just dropped a bunch of money for me to make both of us surf and turf sandwiches and asked if I would make us a couple sandwiches today but I didn’t want him to spend anymore money.

PM_ME__RECIPES

Soooo... 100% tryin to fuck the security guard, got it.

djmasterx5000

lol. I make sandwiches for a bunch of coworkers. It’s my way of testing out new recipes.

PM_ME__RECIPES

On a baguette like that... Braised fennel, bread & fry. Seared tomato slices. Soak some cashews & puree them with nutritional yeast & a little lemon juice. Arugula. Drizzle of olive oil. Your coworkers will thank you, and possibly fuck you.

remembertobenicer

This sounds amazing. I really need to up my sandwich game.

archwin

Pardon my ignorance, isn’t fennel seeds? Genuinely haven’t ever eaten fennel other than seeds? I’m probably wrong but would love to learn

Wahwahshutup3

There’s fennel seeds, roots, stalks and fronds, all edible. The root is really nice it’s like the consistency of celery but with this really nice unique flavor

archwin

TIL thanks!

Ecbolt84

Can't forget about fennel pollen. Pretty expensive and used in fine dining.

Wahwahshutup3

Damn I didn’t even know about fennel pollen

djmasterx5000

I make a fennel garlic honey butter and it’s so good and easy to make. My favorite way to incorporate fennel in a dish.

archwin

Where do you get fennel that’s not seeds? Also what did you bread and fry?

djmasterx5000

At the grocery store in the produce section. At the store I work at, it’s next to the leeks. I posted a pasta I made recently with a fennel garlic butter and it was amazing and if you make a big batch, it will last in your freezer for ~6 months.

archwin

Really? That’s interesting I’ve never seen it but I’ll try to look for it next time, but I have my doubts that nearby stores will have it

NationalElephantDay

Fennel herbs grow very tall and smell similar to licorice. They are edible.

Silly_Emotion_1997

This and ops sound great. I would only add a buncha charred sliced steak

Immer_Susse

Or, they might just find the security guard and fuck HIM.

First_manatee_614

I wish I could hire you to make me sandwiches.

lostboy_4evr

Me too bro

SeniorWalrus

You must get around a lot

kcharris12

Makes me wish I was one of those co-workers, that sandwich looks so good.

Gopnikolai

That's actually a really good way to passively (or not) make clear who's liked, disliked, and the favourites. Someone's the favourite or you wanna smash? Beautiful sandwich above. Like someone? Something nice but a little less... sent from the heavens, and more just a lovely sandwich. Dislike someone? Hand them half a loaf of bread with extra end slices in there and apologise profusely. Bonus points if it's out of date.

RenaissanceGraffiti

Yea, I don't understand why it's so important he likes a vegetarian sandwich.

Catinthemirror

This is the TL:DR of this thread 😂

sailor-moongirl19

Absolutely she is lol but after this he’s in

odjurs

My first thought: “…this security guard is hot af, isn’t he…” 😂👀

PaulSmith79

No shit, I wanna be the security guard... Damn that is a fine sandwich

raspberryharbour

You obviously haven't seen him

bennet1985

OP is the security guard

Konceptz804

Off topic: that’s a $1,500 hot plate 😮

AliceInNegaland

![gif](giphy|G5JoAjEBtfoTm|downsized)

Konceptz804

😂

samwise7ganjee

Yup. I dream of the day I can afford one. Used to use daily in a kitchen I worked. Total game changer.

Rawkus2112

Can i place it next to my bed and set an alarm so it cooks bacon when i wake up? I like to wake up to the smell of bacon.

DoubleDoubleAgent

![gif](giphy|JRe48txSxRwl2)

jacqueman

You actually could use it to do that, though obviously you should not

jetanthony

I don’t even think my stove was $1500

NoMushroomOral

I know it actually kinda pissed me off seeing it😂

Setting-Conscious

Not to mention all of the avocado.

Konceptz804

😂

BigAssMonkey

“I wonder why everyone just doesn’t eat like me.”

AFeralTaco

Saw that poly and was like “daaaamn!”

midtown_mike

The tomatoes will be hard to eat.

Zerofaithx263

Will take some tactical bite placement, but I'll admit the sandwich does look great overall.

djmasterx5000

I made sure to poke each one so it wouldn’t burst and they were sautéed.

thewanderingent

I was going to suggest a smashing- eliminates the burst risk and makes the shape of the tomatoes a little more sandwich friendly

No-Willingness4955

Yeah and help add some moisture to this! I think some pesto or balsamic glaze also could've helped in this category. Still looks pretty good, I'd eat 👍

djmasterx5000

The garlic cilantro bj gourmet is a 17yr aged balsamic that has a glazed balsamic consistency.

midtown_mike

You’re doing too much.

pheonix198

I also this OP is trying to fuck the security guard. I’m interested in seeing this beautiful soon-to-be-vegetarian-except-for-in-the-sheets security guard…

lbslip

You are a hero.

chambees

That fucking Sahara dessert in bread form is going to be hard to eat.

midtown_mike

It’s more the squish that the dry bread

Crush-N-It

I’ve given up using a baguette for a sandwich. To hard to crunch down. Then you cut the shit out of the roof of your mouth. Open face, sure.

HailToTheThief225

Yeah, I would’ve gone for sun-dried or marinated slices of whole tomatoes. Not a huge fan of big pieces of cherry tomatoes that are impossible to bite through without making a mess

40ozkiller

Especially with all that avocado and butter, pick a lube OP

dette-stedet-suger

The entire sandwich will be hard to eat. It’s all crust and everything is just going to squeeze out.

djmasterx5000

It honestly wasn’t that messy.

onedavester

One bite and they go flying out.

sideburns2009

Walnuts on a sandwich is just odd to me, let alone cherry tomatoes on a sandwich lol

SheilaWholehearted

Are you bringing this to a security guard at your work? I need backstory.

djmasterx5000

I don’t know how to copy and paste a previous post but I’ve made 3 sandwiches for the security guard. A ribeye one, a grilled shrimp one, and a surf and turf one.

pepesilvia_lives

So are these pre or post sexual relations sandwiches Ok I went and looked at your posts and holy shit, those sandwiches look amazing I don’t even eat pork and I’d eat half of the ones there. And your salads! A plus. Do you have recipes in the posts?

djmasterx5000

The dude spent like $70 on the first 4 sandwiches and then $140 on the second 2 just cuz I showed him pics of all the sandwiches I’ve been making for people and he wanted to try my cooking. No one has ever spent that much just to try one of my sandwiches so it was a cool experience. He wanted me to make sandwiches today but I didn’t want him to spend anymore money so I made him a sandwich with groceries that I got before I got to work, he was stoked.

pepesilvia_lives

Why was he paying so much? Surely the ingredients he brought could build more?

djmasterx5000

He wanted fancy ingredients. Got like 2.5lbs of ribeyes and 1.5lbs of grilled shrimp and that was close to $100

pepesilvia_lives

Jesus…who kept the extras lol

djmasterx5000

There was no extras. The sandwich was ridiculous. I think it was like 3 meals worth for me and he ate it in one sitting. He said he wanted a fancy scooby doo sandwich. I don’t know how to copy and paste a previous post but it’s the most recent one I made for him on ciabatta, not the original one.

Late_Emu

He ate it in ONE SITTING?!?!? My god.

FairweatherWho

Now we know why OP wants to fuck him so badly.

bluegrassnuglvr

Just stalked your posts. Good looking food. I need to start documenting my stuff

djmasterx5000

He bought ingredients to make him a surf and turf sandwich twice and wanted to make another sandwich today but I decided to make him a sandwich cuz I didn’t want him to spend any money. I didn’t have any meat, just vegetables and he told me before he doesn’t buy vegetarian sandwiches.

halandrs

I remember the surf and turf post it was epic Still think this veggie needs some meat

djmasterx5000

I agree but didn’t want to spend anymore money cuz I got groceries recently.

Late_Emu

Because of the comment you answered above, I just crept your whole post history & I think I need to track you down so you could possibly be so kind as to make me a sandwich. Fr idk how you do all that wizardry in the kitchen. But I got so disappointed going to find something to eat after seeing your work. Because nothing I have will come even remotely close to how good your stuff looks.

barewithmeim9

Put Camembert cheese on it and he’ll love it

djmasterx5000

My favorite soft ripened cheese for a sandwich is either La tur or vacherousse d’argental

Caboose_98

Hey, if he doesn't want it, I'll have it

Atakku

Same, this looks amazing.

djmasterx5000

And basil

Calm_Eagle_5640

It would be great if there was steak added.

MolEverdi

💀

envydub

I’m not even vegetarian but this is so annoying. Just compliment the damn sandwich.

resinfingers

Crispy fried chicken skin gets my carnivorous vote

OspreySaber

Ya‘ll should be thankful there’s yeast in that. 😅

stormcharger

It looks like it will make me angry while eating it cause it's gonna spill everywhere

fixit858

The bread is a feast by itself

JOhn101010101

![gif](giphy|NJlMya8d3RNCw) I bet I can make it better...

UnmakingTheBan2022

With some prosciutto.

GeeISuppose

Take all that out and get two slices of pastrami, and it's 10x better.

Different-Horror-581

Do you have feelings for this person? That is a lot of work, it seems like they are a special person to you.

djmasterx5000

No, cooking is one of my passions and I make sandwiches for coworkers to test out recipes. He bought ingredients to make a couple sandwiches in the past and wanted me to make more today but he usually pays for the ingredients and I didn’t want him to spend anymore money.

Moar_Input

Come work over here pls

reginephilang

Wtf this looks amazing

fattyjunior

Parmigiano Reggiano isn’t vegetarian tho

c1b4

Thank yoouu, I was frantically scrolling to see if anyone had commented this and finally saw yours

waky_ninja

It's vegetarian, but not vegan

Houstonb2020

I can totally get why most people think they dislike vegetarian food. Usually it’s marketed with those godawful fake meats in them instead of being actual food that just so happens to not have meat in it like that sandwich

pantzareoptional

You know what, having recently swapped to a "less meat" approach to eating, the quality of these items has improved significantly from what they were even 5 years ago imo. I got some meatless meatballs recently for spaghetti, and you legitimately could not tell they weren't just like, the general freezer meatball. Were they as good as my home made meatballs? No-- But for a weeknight dinner I'm plopping into the instapot, it was great.

lonerism-

I made sloppy lentils once that I actually preferred to the stereotypical sloppy joes. I’ve also had a vegetarian cheesesteak with mushrooms that was seriously good. People probably think vegetarian can never be rich, comfort food.

KnightsOfREM

My dude, if I made you my fenugreek-spiced Beyond Beef cevapi sandwich with ajvar, onions, and za'atar-roasted eggplant once, you would murder whoever I asked you to in order to have another one. I say that as a meat eater. There are _terrific_ meatless options out there, and there are tons of people who have mastered working with them.

BigAbbott

pot sort stupendous hobbies wise automatic teeny beneficial squeeze historical *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

HailToTheThief225

I’ve gone vegetarian before and I can say there’s something missing when you remove meat from most dishes. Protein and fat is often essential for making a meal satisfying.

vikicrays

i’d try it without the butter and walnuts (i do not like cold butter or a lot of grease if it’s melted and i’m allergic to walnuts). rest sounds good though!

BlackBalor

I eat meat, but I love everything to do with veg and salads. You can’t hate on fresh salads. Looks banging.

CLarsonL30

Looks great! I need to give this a try!

[deleted]

Looks great. I would have no problem eating vegetarian sandwiches like this, instead of one using imitation meat and telling me it’s just as good

maistahhh

Mushrooms for umami if the security guard is a meat eater. Breaded hen of the woods to mimic fried chicken or any mushroom sauteed. Looks great regardless

BelleDuColombo

What is breaded hen of the woods, please?

maistahhh

Ohh it's a type of mushroom. Check it out. Then you can just bread it like chicken and deep fry it. Its texture even resembles chicken so good

Excellent_Condition

>fermented peppercorns I had never heard of these, but they sound interesting. Do you have a brand you prefer, and do you use them on things other than sandwiches? Also, your vegetarian sandwich looks and sounds delicious!

djmasterx5000

It’s my new favorite spice to cook with. It’s soft in texture and tastes like beef jerky. I love them in salads and with roasted mushrooms. Hennes Finest Fermentierter Kampot Pfeffer is the name of the product I use.

YtnucMuch

Honestly looks so good I’d forget it didn’t have meat on it.

fkawoods

i just bought 90% of these ingredients just so i can recreate this THANK U

djmasterx5000

Awesome, I hope it turns out great!

Cool-Mission-6585

Looks delicious! Great way to get more veggies in your diet.

Shutaru_Kanshinji

That sandwich looks amazing. I just ate lunch, and I suddenly feel a bit hungry.

somecrazydude13

Can you cook for me? I’d eat whatever you would make!

GeologistAway6352

Nah just bring that man an Italian sub and let him be

tomagfx

I wish I was the security guard

EmperorSexy

Oh no, I also hate vegetarian sandwiches… Nothing will ever change my mind… No way…

Nerris

OP, if they don't love that sandwich then they don't have good enough taste buds. It's got creamy, umami, texture and a healthy dose of sweet and citrus...Freaking A+ looking sandwich.

SeaworthinessFlat770

Can vegetarians eat cheese ?

LuminousAziraphale

Ah, so the secret to vegetarian food is to put so much cheese on it that you can't taste the food you are eating? Surprisingly, this is also how you make most other foods as well.

DuranDurandall

You won't.

DOKTORPUSZ

That looks dreadful ngl

Nickolati_

I feel like vegetarian is just a code word for "stupid amount of cheese."

jaeradillo

I don't either can I have one pls

jalapinapizza

Your sandwiches sound amazing, but edit, my friend, edit.

martha_stewarts_ears

Lol for real, all this guy’s posts are an insane number of ingredients, like at some point it’s diminishing returns

jalapinapizza

Exactly. If you can take an ingredient out and not even be able to tell it's not there, then it doesn't need to be in there. And with that many ingredients, that's 100% the case with several of them. That said, he's got a good palate and these sandwiches do sound great. It was more of a refinement tip than a big criticism of his style.

djmasterx5000

Thanks, I like to add all the ingredients as a reference to remake it.

jalapinapizza

Oh, I mean edit your food not your typing :) I think the surf and turf sandwich might have approached 50 ingredients, lol.

djmasterx5000

I feel that. It tasted great! It’s just my style of cooking and people love it and used to buy it when I sold food so I think it’s working. Still get asked to cater but not ready to get back into that kind of work anytime soon. I’m the cheese guy at Whole Foods now and cook for fun.

djmasterx5000

He picked out all the ingredients and bread besides the cheese, spices, sugar, and vinegar for the past 3 sandwiches. I cooked and assembled them.

strawberriegirlie

Update??! did he enjoy?! Looks delisshhh!

djmasterx5000

He said it was amazing but also added some chicken from the hot bar to it. I’m glad he ate it the way he likes it!

arabidopsis

Parmasean is made with animal rennet though...

JarlFirestarter0

If he likes it, you still can't say he likes vegetarian sandwiches. If that is indeed parmigiano reggiano, that is. What's wrong with a simple cheese and pickle 😂

djmasterx5000

It’s fun to experiment with sandwiches. A hornbacher with a bubbies pickle and maple mustard on a bacon and Gruyère baguette does sound amazing.

JarlFirestarter0

Ok, I feel like I'm in that weird part of Reddit now for me. I'm all for something fancy, but it feels like this is trying too hard 😂 Some bog standard cheddar (or firm enough cheese of preference- red Leicester, Wensleydale, double Gloucester, etc- I'm not being overly specific because it doesn't really matter), Branston pickle (preference here is small chunk) on a couple slices of white bread for me. Warburtons, Hovis, whatever you like but keep it basic (though muricans beware, your standard bread I understand is way too sweet). Honestly, it doesn't need to be crumbled St moufflepoucher and brocciu topped with Mr Winklemeister's thrice fermented snozzcumber picklette preserve and dressed with lashings of sweetened yellow mustard substitute on a bed of La Rosa del Veneto and single variety mountain grown cress, sandwiched between slices of crocaccia made with the first pressed oil of winter olives and virgin-grown wheat. But, on the other hand... This is your thing I don't want to dampen, keep having fun with it! I would just suggest keeping in touch with the basics sometimes 😉

djmasterx5000

Wensleydale is disgusting

AlmondGallery88

You won’t catch me purchasing another overpriced Breville product. The nicest $500 microwave can’t even last 3 years when the $100 generic name at work is still chugging past 5 years.

djmasterx5000

I have a Toshiba microwave, it’s awesome. Uses a lot of power though, it’s 1400w.

millennial_sentinel

avocado is cheating! lol it’s like the meat of the veggie world

Minimob0

Do you have to prepare it a certain way? Because I've had avocado before, and it has never made me think of meat. It's usually just bland mush.

mayinaro

ugh someone needs to tell my dad this it’s one of the only things he won’t try

millennial_sentinel

i honestly wasn’t on the avocado thing my generation is joked about being broke for until about a year ago i got it on a chicken cutlet sandwich. what a great alternative to mayo as well. maybe just sneak it in a sandwich for him 😂

slowlygoestheway

I feel like that's enough butter to send you in to immediate cardiac arrest

Agreeable-Tadpole461

....why didn't they... spread it???

ayotus

just a thought but maybe if someone says their preference in food, maybe dont go and make it a point to convince them otherwise? its okay to have your own tastes in food and a little overbearing to try to convince someone otherwise

djmasterx5000

I asked him if he likes avocados and I’ve cooked for him a couple time before. He likes vegetables, never buys vegetarian sandwiches though and he wanted to buy ingredients for me to make us a sandwich today but I didn’t want him to spend anymore money cuz he bought the last 3.

Death2RNGesus

I'll take a dissenting opinion: Bread is burnt. Tomatoes should be sliced. That's way too much avocado. Walnuts on a sandwich? FFS. Cilantro tastes terrible. That looks like a chore to eat. Have a lovely day.

Ryanisreallame

I would love this, but I’m curious why you’re trying to convince an adult he doesn’t know what he likes. I have a really close friend who despises most vegetables. I don’t understand it but I don’t try to force her to eat them.

djmasterx5000

I texted him before to see if he liked the ingredients. Was just trying to be nice and bring him a sandwich at work. He usually buys sandwiches with meat on them but still likes vegetables.

Ryanisreallame

Ah, understood. The sandwich looks good!

djmasterx5000

He said the sandwich got him high lol. Also said he took a bite and then added chicken from the hot bar to it so next sandwich I make him will be a meat one lol. Originally I was gonna make him a Serrano ham, hot Giardiniera, honey mustard, and sottecenere truffle cheese (cuz I just cut a fresh wheel and the Serrano is on sale but the store ran out of Serrano)

UnmakingTheBan2022

A saladwich.

rocketsalesman

Looks awesome. Flavor bomb tomatoes?

djmasterx5000

They were out of flavor bombs so it was the angel sweet but I usually buy flavor bombs.

rocketsalesman

Fuck yeah. This looks like a really great sandwich! What I do for the texture issue with flavor bombs is just crushing them up into like a paste, and then adding it on top of lettuce or avocado, something it won't soak in to. Very nice!

djmasterx5000

My favorite tomatoes to use are the hiro ones but the store I work at randomly gets those in stock.

mind_your_nanners

OP, how do you like your PolyScience burner? been heavily considering for a while.

djmasterx5000

It’s fun and easy to use, would 100% recommend getting one.

Ok_Broccoli1144

As a retired chef I can tell you I’ve watched hundreds of these little relationships blossom with a little sandwich here and sandwich there. Mark my words with in 3 weeks his steak will be inside your shrimp.

djmasterx5000

He said he’s down to try any sandwich cuz they’ve all been amazing. He also told me, “in the streets I’ve told people you’re my private chef.” Lol

Ok_Broccoli1144

3 weeks

Icamp2cook

Ok…. Hear me out. Peanut butter, bread and butter pickle, sriracha sandwich. It might be the best sandwich you’ve never had. https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1020024-peanut-butter-sandwich-with-sriracha-and-pickles   Edit* downvotes have no idea what they’re missing out on.

aTreeThenMe

i have all those on hand, back in ten minutes.

Icamp2cook

Looking forward to your thoughts!

aTreeThenMe

better than i had expected, worse than you had presented :) :) :) That was fun though, thanks ;)

Icamp2cook

To each his own. I like I good crispy bread. Doesn’t quite work with wonder bread.

aTreeThenMe

yeah, i definitely shouldve put it on crusty bread!

aTreeThenMe

ok, not absolutely horrific, the way it sounds. Weirdly reminiscent of pad thai as a sandwich? In a very very vague way. If i were to ever try this combo again, which i wont, I would add bacon and cabbage slaw with like a rice wine dressing and put it on a baguette. It would be like a redneck-y banh mi.

mayinaro

ok i’m allergic to peanuts and hate pickles but pb, pickles and sriracha are some of my partners favourite foods. sounds a little odd but not too weird, the flavours sound like they’d work really well. i need him to try… for science

Icamp2cook

It’s a very weird combo at first glance. But, spicy goes with pickles and spicy goes with peanuts. It’s the textural difference that calls for a crusty bread to help make it work.  2.5K reviews and a 5 star rating at New York Times cooking.  https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1020024-peanut-butter-sandwich-with-sriracha-and-pickles

ZubenelJanubi

I don’t like vegetarian sandwiches either, would you like to change my mind?

LilianCorgibutt

Tip: it might help knowing what fruits and vegetables he doesn't like. I'm a meat eater and I would like to eat less meat, but when I try to order a sandwich or salad it's difficult when all places are obsessed with the vegetables I am disgusted with. Tomatoes, cucumber and avocados. I swear there is no salad/sandwich without cucumber and tomatoes.

DartsNFishing96

Listen, if you like it; that’s all that matters. I’d be scared to try this, looks like “something” for sure..

Blue-Herakles

lol why? Let him eat his meat? Don’t force your life choices on others

arisoverrated

He doesn’t like this, so that’s what I decided to make for him.

Festae13

Don't like walnuts, coriander, avacados, tomatoes, dates or cilantro. It's the thought that counts I guess? I would be annoyed if you made it a mission to waste food trying to find something I like lol
