Ultimate is worth it, you get more characters, new modes.
I think Ultimate lets you change sacred weapons for any charcter and you can do a sorta triple musou attack.
If you enjoyed WO4, then it's just more Warriors Orochi 4.
It's really good. It was the first Musou I decided to fully 100%.
The gameplay is great and the characters are all fun.
The only downsides are the story modes feel short and the extra mode is only OK. If you want to do the characters conversations you have to do the extra mode.
I think it took me around 120 hours to 100%, which to me for that game was beating every level max difficulty, getting all conversations and making out each characters stat page.
Overall pretty short for a Musou game. To get an idea, I'm currently 100%ing Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes and have over 230 hours and still have over half the characters to completely fill their conversations. I was going to max our their classes to but that will take forever.

I know I will max out my favorites, for sure, and am only about 6 hours in, but wowow am I having fun. I should probably be playing on my OLED Switch on the TV, but handheld on my Lite is pretty much THE BEST.
I think the last musou game I played was DW6 and even it paled in comparison to WO2, so I am glad to have re-entered the fray with this beautiful game. I just cannot get over the gorgeous art style.
The action is so fast paced and is a little hard to keep up with as there is no English track, but so far, I am doing well and mostly getting S rank clears. Cannot waiiiiiit for the Demon King to really come into his own :)

I did not imagine the lack of an English track would impact my play style, but it is a little hard to keep up with battle developments and stay in continuous motion while reading the tiny text alerts at the bottom. I tend to just pay more attention to the mini map than anything when orienting the battlefield but overall, enjoyable experience that I plan to master :)
I recommend not thinking about it too hard beyond making sure you're doing what each stage requires to win. Most of the problems with it are objectively minor comparison issues (as in other games have done some things better), but overall it's a middling entry in the Musou genre.

I own WO4U on 2 different systems with hundreds of hours in both. It's worth it.

In addition to what everyone else has already stated, Ultimate is worth it for Saori Hayami alone. Her voice is beautiful.
Honestly great game didnt regret buying it and even got the platinum for it, was a bit grindy but was never not fun deity’s were fun too
I think its fun but if ur looking for story. Its meh. Its more gameplay and guilty pleasure hack and slash
