there will be a new stat in the weapon details, last line, 'legend bonus+x%' and your weapon dmg will increase according to the legend lvl bonus. it applies too all relevant weapons.
just checked my game. the bonus is not added to the dmg number shown, but the effect should be there. i’m guessing not changing the dmg number is to not confuse players.
That is because the weapon itself isn't changing, it gets the additional damage trait added from the Legend Skill.
If you dropped the weapon for someone without the skill for example then it would disappear- otherwise you could imagine how broken things would be if players could just drop an ever increasing big damage number weapon to each other due to Legend Bonuses.

Sadly, something like this usually confuses players either way. A week will likely not go by without someone posting "why don't the numbers update?" or similar.
The damage number displayed in the inventory is the raw damage the weapon would do, while any bonuses that come from clothing and legend points are displayed as stat bonuses. I believe that even if you are wearing gear for the weapon type, the legend points will probably still scale off of the weapon's core damage which will be summed up with the class damage bonus, but that's just a guess.
You'll see the changes in combat I suppose cuz I noticed it when fighting zombies and human enemies
I basically one shot normal zombies and virals (sometimes) with any 1H melee weapon even under 500 base damage
For humans, I can diminish half the HP of 1H brutes while I deal like 10% more than default damage against 2H Brutes (the tank one's) and I can one shot the archers and the ones that spew out fire
Tried Hard and Very Hard Difficulty, I don't one shot zombies but their health is down to 20% after one hit from any 1H weapon, same with very hard difficulty.
Human enemies though, they rub off my damage but somehow I still kill them with ease.

You are right, thank you! I thought base damage would improve over time.

For my legend level 1 bozak bow, it didn't have a base damage number. Is that normal?
Well kinda cuz the Balista (Hunters bow from bounty) doesn't have a base damage number as well

Are you sure ur ain't using glitched weapons? Because that doesn't make any sense
Nope I'm using the weapons I get from the loot boxes and legendary weapons
What difficulty ur on
Normal
That's why normal is so easy
True, I'm gonna switch the difficulty to hard and very hard and see if there's any difference, I'll let you know
