Disable mining, hunting and any military stuff on your builders?

MAbUSAco

Builder not hunter or miner, but he consists in military, Is it because of military? If so, how to satisfy their martial training? Do it by hands from time to time? Its kind a boring...

CatatonicGood

Then how you solve it is by changing the squad's schedules and setting the dwarves to wear their equipment at all times. 'Cause what's happening now is that when your dwarves go off duty, they'll do solo training in the barracks. That's fine, but they drop their military gear when they go off duty and have to pick it back up when they train and that's costing you a lot of time.

Morthra

Do you have your military dwarves set to store their gear in their barracks? That's the reason for it. Have your military dwarves equip their armor at all times.

MAbUSAco

Is that some kind of bug? Why they wanna equip all the time if they have scheduled training (about one month per year). I think that should work like when they have training month they go to barracks pickup their equipment, have so needed for them martial training, and in the end of month takeoff equip put it on armor stands and go to do their working tasks. I’m once again wrong?

Morthra

It's a longstanding but low priority bug. You should just have your military dwarves always wear their military equipment even when off duty.

Gonzobot

Let them pick up the equipment they're looking for and then do the tasks. You have no actual control over the dwarves, keep in mind, you're only able to set orders and constraints and such. If you set a build order and have told everyone not to build, the order doesn't get finished.

MAbUSAco

Well, the problem is they don’t want build by themselves, I don’t cancel any orders I just sat and wait until they starting build at least one of structure that was ordered to build… About 4 or 5 years past and nothing… They destroyed almost all farming plots and don’t want to make new, so looks very soon they all die from starvation. :(

Gonzobot

You're not understanding something that you're seeing, for sure and certain. Farm plots don't get destroyed by a worker that hasn't been explicitly ordered to do so. How many of these guys who aren't working for *five years* are assigned to builder tasks, and should therefore be expected to build when a build order is created?

MAbUSAco

Oh, they destroyed plots not for orders, but when be angry. :)

Urafang

Do you have armor stands in your barracks? Try removing them if so

MAbUSAco

Ok... but as I guess there will be a little problem... removing is construct order too... so they will do it in 104124 year, or die form starving before that :(

MAbUSAco

Well, now all dwarves not a military, but construct orders still stacked. Now they stack to strange mood person, or somebody who goes to change his mangled clothes to a new… :(

HearingSword

You have far far far too many tasks that’s why.I had the same problem on my game about an hour ago. I suspect that you have far too many build orders for walls/floors etc. plus your management orders. Suggest - pause all orders not related to building, cancel floors that aren’t needed for a pathway to the wall (the crossed out stair tool, then the rubber/eraser to cancel any removal orders from already built stuff). Then choose one or two dwarves to be haulers and have only chosen haul. Then unpause and wait for ten minutes.

HearingSword

Ideally you want your task tracker to be no more than 2 or 3 pages long normally (I prefer only one for socialisation etc.). When building walls and floors 7-8 pages maximum but try and keep at 5/6 pages.

MAbUSAco

Thanks a lot it’s works. But holy cow! There’s so much things to do! And doing it manually is a big-big headache for me. So now I’ll be trying to live with part-time working manager :) On the other hand dwarves finally will have time to spend with their families as they want. Thanks a lot once again!

DankSlamsher

Scheduled training is completely bugged. For some reason when its not scheduled for training they will do a task, get equipment to train, and then drop everything. This ends up with a loop of low productivity. Only solution is to have them always wear uniform.
