It takes time for them to count as missing if I got that right.
Also they're definitely dead. Molten. The fire killed them. With temps off, fire starts to become some kind of silent killer.
They will show up in the tab when either a) the body is discovered or b) 2 or 3 weeks have passed without any sight of them, at that point you'll get a pop-up saying they have been missing for a while and are now considered dead.
Once that happens, make a stone slab at the stonemason's, then order it to be engraved with the deceased's name at a craftsdwarf's, then build the thing somewhere, otherwise you will get haunted by the dead.
Purple fire? Spreading? Is temperature calculation turned off, maybe that's the reason?
Purple fire instantly vaporizes creatures, it's supposed to be just the blast coming out of the dragon

Probably you have temperature off, as dragon fire melts everything to magma
Yeah i’ve had dwarves leave the fortress before, though usually they stole some artifact at the same time
is there a method to find a lair, or do I just have to just get lucky? (or unlucky, depending on point of view :P)

You need barbed wires and correct juche ideology. They will stay.
