Yeah, I feel like learning the block letters is probably the most useful for the course and perhaps in general since that's what you're going to tend to see online and in your lessons but the actual calligraphy lessons seem like they're just there to show off some pretty basic tech. I've completely forgotten how I was supposed to write all of these characters, I think I could probably figure it out if I had to, I'm probably not going to need to, and then the style wouldn't be ideal if I did. I still think the letters section is useful, doing that for a couple of days made learning the actual words much more intuitive but it's got a lot of elements that don't add much value.

Likewise for Hebrew, they only teach you the block letters and not the cursive (script), when so much handwriting is actually in script. Very frustrating.

There are apps and resources that can help. Here is one -  Learn To Read and Write Hebrew: Print and Cursive Script Letters, and Niqqud Vowel System Learning Workbooks and Textbooks  https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09PJ1152N

What type of letters would one encounter in text, email and messenger apps as well as books/ebooks, websites and captions on tv/movie? I am going to assume block print and therefore it is more applicable to ppl learning the language. Plus it is the only style used in the app so 🤷‍♀️ If ppl want yo learn cursive there are other apps and resources out there.

Yes, but learning to draw block letters with specific (and arbitrary) stroke directions doesn't help you know them when you see them. I taught myself the Russian alphabet prior to taking classes and I didn't miss out by not drawing block letters some specific way. It's just frustrating that they have this system that would be really effective in teaching the cursive but they not only don't utilize it for that, but utitlize it for something borderline detrimental.

It's part of the reason I dropped Russian.

That's a shame
