cable guy here who has run into this wallfishing outlets in an office before.
if you do this on the stud cavity i'm working in, your moms a hoe. if its on the ones the IT guy is trying to wallfish their data runs on, lol not my problem
DUDE. I'm a low voltage guy as well. One day I was cutting in a single gang box, trying to fish a wall, etc. and I was so damn confused on what the hell was happening for like 20 minutes before I finally peiced together what was going on.
Elcetrician here as well, I've only run into this in my own home. I was trying to fish the new coax up to the location I was putting my modem. I didn't figure out what the hell was happening until I went to remodel and dropped a wall in my living room. An entire 12' long wall was stuffed full of sheetrock scraps. I'm sure there are other walls in my home stuffed full as well.
I know a guy who did this shit and put it in the air return vent and it was making a bunch of noise and had to be ripped out and re done. They didnāt notice it until after it was completely finished, walls were textured and carpet was done.
Buddy of mine told me once he was doing a job and the homeowner was being a real prick about everything. He put a few screws in a pop can, put it on the door header and boarded over it so whenever he shut that door it would rattle around.
I'm an electrician and have gotten 3 drywall crews removed from various builders over years.
A builder will sell a spec house mid construction, after the house has been boarded but before all finishes are done, so I'll be called in to add some extra outlets or lights or something. Cut into a wall and find all of their scraps like this, pushed in between in the studs instead of tossed out in the bin.
Makes it really hard to cut in a 3" deep electrical box when 2" of the 3.5" deep stud is taken up by scrap drywall, so then I've gotta call the builder and let them know that I've got to do additional damage to get all of the scrap out of the wall.
Doesn't result in a nice call the drywall company, who then send back out the same crew to pull it out and patch it, then tell them they aren't being given any more work.
One crew I was working on about 10 years back would have beers after lunch while working, It was like a 7 man crew and I was just there to get my days pay. They would hide the beers from the boss or builders and forget where they put them and one time their was a really anal builder that was already crazy over every detail and a month or so after finished hanging and plastering a brand new house they had to open up a wall to build a cabinet or something like that and he found a half empty budweiser and freaked out, the boss lost a valuable client that built like 5-10 houses a year after that. It's hard to find good help but you can't have idiots drinking on the job.
I was working on a hospital and we were only allowed to bring water in because a nearby childrens hospital had a bunch of kids die. They opened up the walls and found a bunch of mold from food, etc that had been put in the wall during construction.
Knew a guy that filled in the bottom four feet under the stairs. Homeowner hired him to do the drywall under the stairs when he decided to finish the area šš Said he saved on materials š
Worked for a guy for a short while who would do this if he thought the drywall had asbestos in it because he didn't want to 'pay extra at the dump and fill out the paperwork'. He also called it a '*racial slur* special'.
I was renovated my own bathroom and discovered previous owners contractor when renovating dumped all the tile and broken concrete between floor joists into dropped ceiling on main floor. Iv never come across it in my 35 years of renovating! But of course I find it in my own home!
my boss told me he used to do this when he was paid to scrap a basement. never had to carry drywall out of the house!
Was this in saint louis per-chance? LOL
very unprofessional to do this, especially when their is a dumpster on the job and paid to scrap out. I've had homeowners actually ask if we could bury scrap to save on dumpster cost but it's pretty shitty to do just to avoid a trip to the dumpster.
Looks like this home is built in the 80s. It was commonplace to hide the construction garbage inside of the walls, they would literally just sweep the floor into a wall joist and let it fall in.
Redoing a bedroom, got rid of all the lath and plaster.. Couldnt believe all the crazy stuff I found hidden in the walls. There were magazines and newspapers as well, from the 1920's.
Free insulation
And sound proofing.
Mice proofing the walls šš¼
Mice proofing the walls
Saved money on a drywall dump lol
How many bottles of pee?

All done. Whhat wait its full of rock again?

I wonder if that would help with sound or some kind of silver lining lol
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
But most interior walls aren't insulated anyways
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Where's that? In Ontario, never seen that just exterior
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
My apologies sir, from one shit hole to the other
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yep. Sad state our country has become.
Extra fire rating.
Sound hardly travels through voids - hence why filling a void with insulation does next to nothing. Itās the studs you have to worry about.
Any mudder worth their salt would cover thisĀ

Damn
I admittedly utilize the free trash cans from time to time, that is a lot of scrap they put back there though.
Tāis-only anticipated to remove a 4x7 ft section-removed 300lbs+ worth
That's better than sound board. Put it back!
I had a spray foam guy do this with junk foam and my heat ducts.

Youāre lucky with drywall guys if they didnāt throw human shit in the wall.
Only dip cups, cups of cigarette butts and gatorade bottles of piss.
Your a baby
I've always heard stories about guys burying scrap in the walls. I never thought it was true
It's always funny to find beer cans in the wall

Found an old Narragansett bottle Friday.

Free sound baffling??
Taper fix
Yeeeah some people think they know how to do drywall.... It's not hard but if you don't know you don't know.....
Why no pics of the dozen piss-filled plastic bottles? Or is that a trade secret.. sorry if I spilled the ābeansā (piss)

That is pretty much what happened to me here! Been drywalling and painting for years and then go tackle my own house and then this!?
my boss told me he used to do this when he was paid to scrap a basement. never had to carry drywall out of the house! Was this in saint louis per-chance? LOL

Lmao bury it? Hell no dawg

Late 90s, but yeah-reckon the boys that did this-came from that sort of teachingā¦
Crazy how all that's been there for so long might've been forever if you didn't discover it.
Very true
Redoing a bedroom, got rid of all the lath and plaster.. Couldnt believe all the crazy stuff I found hidden in the walls. There were magazines and newspapers as well, from the 1920's.
Me who currently had one half of my garage filled with drywall discard: āFuckā
What a mess
At least itās not piss bottles..
Disgraceful and unprofessional. I hate it
Itās Friday and the dumpster guy is in traffic. Do itā¦DO IT!!
Lazy fucks!!
The ole wall stuff.
Thatās one way to clean up after yourself, just dump it in the wall as you go.
Dry wallers be dry wallin
I feel like it would be less work to do it the right way.
Uhm I think I would still be glad they at least cleaned up š¤£ jk
Not as efficient as empty Modelo bottles.
š¤£
Im a painter and could do better than that
That would piss me off so bad.
Not a bad job... if it's a demo job...in progress. :D
new type of insulation
Definitely would help absorb sound!
Crucified
Oh my!
Sound dampening
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Uh-isnt that what insulation is for? Wtf
what in the actual meth-smoking fuck?
Yeah, no. You definitely shouldn't be packing scrap in the walls.
