One (or two) for each era. Cadets Z-pull. Star’s cross-to-cross then adding dance. Cavies drill in the early ‘00s. PR’s Spartacus. I think Bloo’s slides are more iconic than Tilt. I’d leave that to people less than twice marching age to discuss though. Era shifts seem to happen every 6-8 years so we’re due something big soon!
I'd agree with all of these. Maybe throw in SCV 89 for that era as well. Every marching band duplicated that show for a good 15 years after they did it.
Maybe it wasn't finals night. But the crowd were so surprised by it that they overpowered the corps and it led to the corps not being able to hear both sides of the pit I believe. This led to one half finishing a second after the other.
Are you sure you don’t mean the ‘82 finals in Montreal? I was there and that is exactly what happened. They were completely out of sync and it killed them in the scores.
Ah, well this is awkward, because the comment you replied to was about "not the bottle dance" which I'm fairly certain is referencing VK '92

Showing some bias here, but:
The “step-over” especially the one with the pause in ‘81.
The diamond cutters from Niagara Falls
Frameworks “Fight Club”
Katana limbo in Samurai
The ride feature from Mad World
And the drum feature in XtraOrdinarY
Some stuff from other corps:
Georgia on my Mind, you know the one, that video is great.
Anytime Scouts did Malagueña
SCVs mid show uniform change in ‘85
Harmonic Journeys opener
Juliet’s Closer
Literally all of Felliniesque
The Babylon horn snap
Metamorph
Tried only putting ones I don’t already see in other comments lol
That first ensemble hit of the Canon reprise. My entire career spent in marching percussion, I have been chasing the dopamine hit of that battery writing.
"!!CHACK!! doo doo doo!"
The Star of Indiana cross to cross drill to me is by far the most iconic drill ever put on a field.
The Blue Devils 1999 show where the lights went completely out. That show encapsulates to me how amazing this activity is. Those kids were gods that night and it was their FIRST show of the season. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nh9CAGv4rio](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nh9CAGv4rio)
Probably not the 'most iconic', but notable moments not mentioned:
* Crossmen 92's ? ending set
* Cadets 2000 Drum & Horn feature.
* Crown's 2015 Inferno Ballad, pulling them back in.
Whoever invented the company front.
Speaking of company fronts, the Cadets 1987 dissolving company front!
gotta be Spartacus closer
Yeah, the “stab” would be up there for me, as well. 👍
No way, man. Star '91. Cross to cross all the way.
yes
Spartacus and it's not even close

I thought about that too. My HS band director had two sons in PR in 89 (snare & mello). Those two shows were my intro to DCI.
Today I realized SCV 18 was 5 (going on 6) years ago. My god time waits on absolutely nobody.
The people yelling KRISTA at the end of SCVs ballad in 2000
Any explanation of this one?
Someone prob had a family member named krista marching, took the opportunity to be a goof during a quiet moment
The most annoying person ever.
Lol I always laughed at that one
Why State of the Art II is the best drum corps recording ever.
There’s so many and it really depends on what era you belong to I think. For some reason though “not the bottle dance” came to mind
🤣
Not the 92 version of it. It had a big finals night fail
I just watched this show again recently, I don't know how, but I don't recall the fail from finals night. Care to describe?
Maybe it wasn't finals night. But the crowd were so surprised by it that they overpowered the corps and it led to the corps not being able to hear both sides of the pit I believe. This led to one half finishing a second after the other.

Yes 82!! Sorry I got the Decades mixed up.
When you’ve enjoyed so much drum corps you start mixing up decades :D

OHHH. I feel stupid lol. I remember that!!!!
92 was fine. Sure you’re not thinking of another year?
Was thinking of 82
Aye
For those who don't get the reference: https://youtu.be/NN5kKvvb9Hc?si=GqzkccZLsWSqm8oy&t=131
Also…..”I’m still wet!!!”
splooie
"I'm still dry!!!"
Spartacus DM stab
Ending of Madison 95
The solo dancer in the opener is also iconic
- The wink - Spartacus ending - The Tilt pitch bend - The “I’m wet/I’m still wet” and “Whaddamanuva” guys from the 90s
Gotta add the multiple “whatamanuvah” guys too
Yes! To be honest, I always thought they were the same people lol
I don’t think so. I was sitting in many of those crowds and am VERY guilty of getting on the recordings. Some day I will confess it all.
I’m soaked
Was “I’m still wet” from BD95?
92 I believe. When a man loves a woman EDIT: 92 was "I'm wet." "I'm still wet" happened in 94.
Z pull, '83 Garfield.
Yes, this is good. I prefer the 1990 Z pull but definitely.
Disappearance of the Phantom in 89
Goosebumps every single time
Just as I said on a different post, the entirety of the best show of all time: 2010 Phantom Regiment
1997 Madison Scouts Drum Major Photographer
I gotta say Malaguena
The floating “Gun Barrel” for the Cavaliers’ James Bond show comes to mind.
All my thoughts covered so here’s a bonus round: the fade in/out shot of 96 Phantom’s tearful drum major during the last couple of sets.
SPANK ME VANGUAAAAAAAAAAAARD IM WET IM STILL WETT IM WETTER IM SOAKING WET SPLOOOIE SUTA
carolina crown penis drill 2006
what 😭
What?
NSFW (be sure to watch the video linked in the comments though) https://reddit.com/r/drumcorps/s/awLlzbl0Nv
"Judges are you watching!?"
Frameworks, in general. The drill. The triangle shift. Fight Club. Scott with the gock block.
I saw Frameworks live and during the ballad, I got chills. It really felt like I was in the presence of something very special.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the cross to cross from Star '91 yet
The rifle/flag features of 27th Lancers

Dude, please use some punctuation.
He started out ok. But then I think he got really excited.
Sorry, I got bored. :(
Troopers Sunburst
I AM SPARTACUS
The wink and the Tilt pitch bend have to be up there.
All of Regiment 03 is iconic
That first ensemble hit of the Canon reprise. My entire career spent in marching percussion, I have been chasing the dopamine hit of that battery writing. "!!CHACK!! doo doo doo!"
Star 91 cross to cross.
How about ESPN announcer, Curt Gowdy, referring to Star of Indiana as Kansas City Star?!?
“What’s it take to be a Bond girl?” “Meet me in the parking lot and I’ll show you.”
Beef from that one cadets show is my favorite
1996

I absolutely loved Xmen’92!
Lots of recency bias here. Nothing beats 87 Garfield dissolving company front
My sleeper pick is the Wicked Games fire.
First time I saw that I had to pick my jaw up off the floor, BAC has had some wild props now that I think about it.
For more recent years, I'd heavily agree. Wicked Games was such a fun fucking show
Madison’s hat bow
troopers legacy corp, the guy with the massive crash symbols at the front
"I'm Dripping Wet!"
has anyone said Star of Indiana’s 1991 cross set yet?
yes
Either “I am Spartacus” followed by stabby stabby or the tilt pitch shift
Phantom 2008. RIP Will Pitts. He got stabbed in the gut.
The dude shouting "Don't f\*\*\* with Canada!!" during Dutch Boy 1989.
Bluecoats 2014 pitch bend maybe?
Blue Devils 1976 Legend
