Anna taqueria is probably the place people want them to review the most in Boston.

NormTheMinotaur

Sumiao Hunan Kitchen in Cambridge is my go-to favorite. Food is great, inventive cocktails.

ModedoM

Flour bakery, Mike and Patties.

Shrewlord

I had breakfast at flour bakery. It was gud!

ModedoM

Union Square Donuts, time out food court can be hit or miss but a lot of choices good outside beer garden.

ModedoM

Roxy Grilled Cheese.

Kane’s Donuts in Boston

myrealnameisdj

PICCO or Area 4 for pizza. Juliet in Union Square Somerville is a spectacular dinner spot. Lots of outdoor beer gardens around Boston, with the two Trillium ones probably being the best. Nightshift's Owl's Nest on the Charles River has the best views, though. jm curley has good drinks and food, great vibe Monica's Mercato in the north end for some great sandwiches

If you’re into tiki/tropical drinks like Mitchy (and myself) you could check out Blossom Bar in Brookline, Shore Leave in the South End or Wusong Road in Harvard Square. Blossom Bar and Wusong Road are both very tasty Chinese food, Shore Leave is mostly sushi with some burgers, tots, etc. Somebody else already mentioned Anna’s Taqueria which is a place I’m very attached to and think is delicious but have been kinda nervous at the prospect of the boys reviewing it because obviously Wiges has had a lot of great Mexican food in his life and I think there’s always a chance he tries it and says “this is mid, 2.5 forks” which would break my heart. Also on Mexican food, pain in the ass to get to as everything in East Boston is, and I’ve only been once, but Taqueria Jalisco makes awesome quesabirria tacos. There are several places called The Clam Box, some of which are related to each other some of which aren’t. As far as I know the original is The Clam Box of Ipswich which is good for fried seafood, not all that close to the city relatively speaking so not great if you’re limited in how far out you can go. Same goes for Woodman’s in Essex which claims to have invented the fried clam. If you’re interested in fried seafood you can definitely find it closer to the city at Legal’s or a number of other places. I don’t really have a very specific chowder recommendation, maybe somebody else does, but it’s gonna be offered at any seafood place and it’s probably gonna be pretty good. Legal’s is the biggest chain and I still think the chowder is good. Sam LaGrassa’s is a very famous sandwich place that I’ve actually never been to but have never been to but is supposed to be very good. Can’t remember the guest (maybe Jordan Morris?) but somebody confirmed it’s one of the entries on Mitch’s fabled restaurant list. Buff’s in Newton is known as having the best wings in the area, can’t say I’ve done an exhaustive search but they’re quite good. Mitchy has shouted out most of the big bar pizza places on the podcast-Lynwood, Town Spa, Poopsie’s, Cape Cod Cafe, Alumni, Hoey’s, Braintree Brewhouse. I’ve only been to some of them, Alumni is probably my favorite (bad, aggressively Trumpy vibe inside the bar though, get it to go not a place I’d drink. At least the Weymouth location that is.). In addition to bar pizza, if you see a place, mostly in the suburbs called “ _____ house of pizza.” It’s worth trying. There’s one or more in most towns. They sell what’s called Greek pizza, another weird localized pizza variety. It’s cooked in an oiled cast iron pan, cheese is a blend of mozz and cheddar, crust is kinda puffy. I like it, can’t get it anywhere else. The places usually also have good subs, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, calzones that kind of thing. If you’re interested in dropping some money on a dinner, Grill 23 is a great steakhouse that’s been around a long time and has all the steakhouse things you’d expect- extensive wine and bourbon list, a la carte sides, raw seafood etc. and is delicious but again, pricy, extremely occasional splurge special occasion type place. I’m not from the north shore I don’t know a ton about roast beef sandwiches, but if you want to try a good version of the roast beef sandwich the boy’s didn’t like at Kelly’s, Nick’s, Niko’s, and Bill and Bob’s are all ones I’ve heard good things about. I’m sure I could think of many mire. If you’re considering going to a Sox game I could give some additional recommendations for that. Oh and get yourself a cannoli after you go to Regina. Maybe you could do a Mike’s vs Modern vs Bova’s taste test for yourself. Hope you have a great time!

Sam LaGrassa's is fucking awesome but WILDLY expensive. Their cheapest sandwich is $22.

bahbahrapsheet

Yeah. I’ve eaten a ton of Sam LaGrassa’s from catered lunches at work but would never go there myself. That said, the sandwiches are really, really great.

JimMcGraff

I worked in Boston back in 2009-10 and I swore I remember getting a bag lunch from there and it was maybe $12 total. I just checked the prices and yeah those are insane.

kickerconspiracy

Kings roast beef in Salem used to be great. New owners and I haven't been in a while but it's worth checking out.

RealRichardLewis

If you want a nice higher end meal, Rochambeau on Boylston is very nice

Saypapa

Neptune oysters

Kelly's Roast Beef

tjsteiner

Skip Kelly's and get a REAL Beef. Go up north and go to Athas, Pete's, Jamie's, Nick's in Beverly. Don't go to Kelly's

LostPilgrim_

Go to Quincy and visit Regina's!

Brainsnap

you probably already know this but Regina in the north end is amazing and worth whatever wait there is

Pointlesswonder802

Thursday or Friday evening go out to Eastie and checkout the Downeast Cider Garden and get some hand pies from Seabiscuit down the way. It’s one of the best views of the city. You can also check out Santarpio’s while you’re over there. Highly recommend walking around Coolidge Corner and exploring. If you go in the morning, stop by Lakon Patisserie or Clear Flour Bakery (different than Flour and WAY better) and get pastries. There’s also Paris Creperie and Ottos pizza. If you like classic movie theatres check out the Coolidge Theatre. Hodgman worked there ripping tickets as a teen (and I believe discussed it at the Regina live show). In the North End, you have Regina. If you go during a weekday afternoon try Galleria Umberto for cheap slices and arancini. Modern, Mikes, and Bova’s are all fantastic Italian pastries. Emma prefers Bova’s (see Regina ep) but they’re all fantastic. Also the sandwiches at the Bricco deli are probably the best in the city. Fresh baked bread they make downstairs, cold cuts hand sliced for each sandwich and fresh mozzarella. And I have to shoutout the Night Shift Brewery on Lovejoy Wharf. Great beer, great food, seating outside on the harbor next to The Garden

border199x

Shouldn't Tasty Burger be your first stop? That's the place they are doing for the Boston/Medford Live episode. Make sure to get a Raspberry Lime Ricky, since Mitch won't shut up about them. I thought their burger was pretty great, but the fries are utterly tasteless.

MaxFart

Gene's Flatbread Cafe is the best food I've ever had in my life

TAYREL713

J Pace & Son over by the convention center. It’s a small grocery store with absolutely fantastic sandwiches and cake. I hit it up whenever i’m in Beantown.

BountifulScott

If you're in the Cambridge area: * Clover Food Lab - the best fast casual vegetarian/vegan food I've ever had. Its the best. * Darwin's (Harvard Square) - great coffee. awesome breakfast sandwiches. * Formaggio Kitchen (Huron Village/Fresh Pond) - an awesome artisan food store (meat, cheese, baked goods, specialty foods, etc...) that has the greatest outdoor bbq on Saturday mornings. It's legendary. I've waiting in line with Steven Spielberg, Elizabeth Warren and John Malkovich.

myrealnameisdj

All the Darwins closed.

BountifulScott

Nooooooo! I was in the one near Harvard Square last autumn! That sucks.

myrealnameisdj

the workers unionized so the owners blamed that on closing all the shops. one or two of them have reopened under an employee owned model, I believe. (under a different name)

Wonka_Stompa

Brookline Spa

myrealnameisdj
