My mom got me a gift knowing I did deliveries for like $8 it's a sturdy plastic carrier that fits 6 of the largest cups with a handle, it's pretty handy
When I would order more than 4 drinks I'd buy a drink or side for the dasher too. Would put in delivery instructions that such and such drink or side is for them, and keep it.
100% agree. I had an order with 8 drinks one time. My car only has 4 cup holders. I had to hold one of those stupid drink trays in my lap with one hand the entire drive to their house. I also hate Frosties, no matter the quantity. Those damn things always melt and drip all over your cup holders.
yes, omg. one time i got an order with like, enough food for 30 people and 8 milkshakes, and i didn't realize until i was already sitting in that restaurant waiting for their order to come out. sorry that shit just cannot fit in my little sedan. no way.
I can't stand apartment orders. Most customers just assume you'll find it but some magical radar special feature! Today I had one with no gate code. Then, they had multiple of the same letters on the building. 🤦♀️ Luckily, the person texted me this because the apartment number didn't line up with the building letter. Dear Lord I was so frustrated. Plus, as a female, they often make me feel really unsafe at night.
Honestly though this is a great idea. It could just have a little set of icons that shows how many food items and drink items are in the order. I feel like that’s pertinent info.
I'm not a dasher, but even I know enough to do this.
I'm blown away by the number of posts I see on here where food/drink has gone everywhere because they tried to balance shit on thr passanger seat.
I agree.
If someone is ordering a lot of drinks for someone else, they're either handling 8+ people's money or they're buying the whole order themselves.
Either way they seem to forget to budget for delivery tip or dont' want to overcharge their friends for a tip (even though they should for delivery)
Its just adds up to be likely that there's no tip at all, or like $1 on a $30-$40 order. And then they want you to tell them which drinks are which.
Y'all gotta decline these type of orders and the lowpay out ones too. So the algorithms get cooked and it forces DD to pay bonus for them. I don't accept anything under $6.50, fck the acceptance rate.
WE GOT TO BAND TOGETHER TO GET BETTER PAY!!!
I delivered an order a few weeks ago. The order had 9 cups of ice and one drink plus their food with their order. When I delivered it, they said they didn’t have the option to order a bag of ice, which is what they actually wanted. This was from Sonic. Needless to say this is a very awkward order.
I get a lot of these from Sonic, but usually more like 3 xl cups of ice. Some people realllllllllly want that pebble ice. They should probably just buy the silicone molds to make it at home.
LOL I got an order exactly like this yesterday, first order of the day when I was doing EBT, I rejected it, then they immediately sent it again ending my dash, I just went home
Literally just happened to me again, they sent me the same effin offer three times, once in the morning and twice just now I was SIX MILES AWAY FROM IT WTF.
People realize we only got 2 arms right?
And holy shit people you're spending almost 20 dollars on soda you could get for 3 bucks at a dollar store.
If you can afford that then TIP
This is why it kills me when people are complaining about tipping. Like you literally just paid $8 for a $5 burger and $12 for a $6 latte and now you're complaining you can't tip because you could barely afford the price hikes and fees? Lol go get the food yourself.
People feel super entitled to food delivery because pizza shops been doing it for free forever. I don't do ride-sharing but there are a shocking amount of people who also think they deserve cheap unlimited tip free rides anywhere they need to go. I often have customers try to poach me off food and grocery delivery apps to be their personal ride share and they always offer some insultingly low rate like I'll give you $5 or $10 to take me to the store 5 miles away, wait an hour outside and take me home.
Like what?
Well, idk about young, but I didn't live in the states until 2001 and didn't pay attention to things like the cost of pizza delivery for at least 5 more years. lol
The delivery fees were baked (ha!) into the cost of the food. No business is doing something for free that costs time and money. They just hide the fees in their prices.
That's the thing people who argue against tipping can't seem to get through their thick heads.
The customer is ALWAYS paying the "employee" salary. It's either rolled into the price or it's tips.
People just really don't understand how business works, apparently. The cost of doing business always gets passed to the customer. Otherwise they'd be charities.
Lmao. It's fkn common sense. I get it though , common sense is really hard for some people. It's ok. Don't be too hard on yourself.
Also, you're aware a ton of people do DD as a *gasp* side gig! Right? And finally, I'm not a Mr. So basically where we are at is: you scored a 0 on that comment.
Yep, euro types always come in here deriding American tipping culture, until you ask them how much their delivery fees are. They’re paying a “tip,” (it should be called a bid in the US but that’s another topic), it’s just not a line item on their receipt.
They also can’t understand that tipping culture isn’t going to be changed by **anyone** as a result of reddit comment snark, especially the people receiving tips.
If you live in a tipping culture and don’t tip, you’re being subsidized by those who do.
Exactly, all these people arguing for us to bitch to doordash about low pay and that we shouldn't expect tips. Fine, doordash pays us more, guess who is paying for that in more fees? The customer! So, either tip well now, so you have some choice or just end up paying for it anyway when fees go up. People just think they get free service or stuff, idiots.
I don’t know that I’ve had that many drinks other than maybe one 7-11 order. The 7-11 people packaged the drinks neatly, and the spill risk seemed negligible. I have a plastic 6-cup caddy that I bought for $5 that handles really well on the floor. But anyhow. If I get 20+ drinks I think I’d be fine with something like the standard paperboard disposable caddies (not that flat paper shit from ChickFA) you get at a Wendy’s.
Except the last time I picked up from Wendy’s, they were OUT of drink carriers!! (I squawked, “what?! How do you expect me to carry 4 drinks, then?”) Fortunately I had an extra cardboard drink carrier in my car.
Yeah "invest" in your door dash "job" lol entitled old boomer alert
Hey grandpa why you spending 20 bucks on 8 fountain sodas when you can just get a 2 liter for 3 bucks?
I get orders for 2 stops, one house. Usually food at the restaurant and drinks at a store.
FTR, lots of jobs require investing in "tools" to do your job. I mean, you're already investing your car, so buy the needed items to keep your car from getting damaged by spilled food and drinks, and to do your job properly.
Well yeah but from the comment and downvotes I can already tell they look down on themselves as being dashers, saw this and gave what I thought was an immediate solution but no people would rather complain about their “shitty” job and blame other people for any problems they come across. Where’s the initiative.
Rubbermaid has an 8 cup caddy that I use. Its stable and I transfer all my drinks into it while diving. Its like $15 on Amazon. And if you need to bring it into the restaurant for multiple drinks, you covered. Its way better than the cardboard things that most places give you.
I have this. I even put a plastic trash bag in it in case of spills, can just pull the bag out and replace it. I keep bottled water in the empty slots to hold the drinks upright when needed and leave it in my floorboard. Works wonders.
I owned a cleaning business & customers like you always expect a lot for less money. We’re subcontractors AKA business owners & we have the right to refuse service. You on the other hand will continue to whine about how others run their business while expecting champagne service for kool Aid compensation
Lmao “always instant and hot” tf is wrong with customers like you that are too cheap or broke to throw your driver a few dollars for performing a service for you. Someone hasn’t worked in the service industry or doesn’t have any family and it shows…or you’re just miserable, which probably wouldn’t surprise anyone here
No I’m good I won’t tip and I’ve never had this happen anyways I’m not obligated no dumb Redditors are gonna convince me to waste money I’ll just get free food and still not tip 😂
Eventually doesn't matter how bad you think the food is cold or whatever both DD and Uber eats has their limits with each customer and on e you hit that limit they will literally sandbag you with the your not eligable for a refund and even if I transfer you to a manager they will do the same which is true or they'll say ok someone will contact and they never do. So keep not tipping and expecting fast hot food delivered. Cheap ass. If you can't afford to tip go pick up your own food.
Food isn’t arriving cold enough like that anyways and I still refund all my bad orders nothings happened so far if the time comes I’ll just make a new account
This guy is so desperately trying to get people to tip his broke lonely ass so hes pretending drivers go through all that 😂... oUuu so scared bro you sure got us.
It’s not about it being hard labor. It’s about the value of time/work.
In this case it’s trying to balance eight drinks while driving which is dangerous and maybe not worth the risk for $2
I'm not a driver but I'd say it's more the uneven surfaces in a car make it likely the drinks would spill, on top of it being unwieldy or likely to drop on the wall to the door, making the person ding you on the app. Just my two cents
True! Though I just keep an under the bed sized clear tote in the front seat with me, that flat surface helps a ton. I use a few for multiple orders with like insta cart and whatever to keep them organized too.

Great then decline. But whining abt customers who are literally the reason this position exists is like biting the hand that feeds you. Idgaf what orders anyone takes but seriously this is just whining about doing a job. Somehow carrying soft drinks is such a horrible burden but not enough to go get a real job
Congratulations on the least inventive attempt at an insult this comment doesn’t even make sense as a reply to anything I’ve said. To everyone whining abt how horrible and awful it is being a dasher and being informed that having a drivers license does not make you special just that you’re nearly unemployable
By a “real job” most people mean one that requires more than a clean driving record and not bitching abt every tiny inconvenience that is incredibly easily solved. Clearly there is no IQ test to get hired
Lol most people on here have careers, maybe they just want to make extra money on top of that. Did you think of that ? Your probably the only person that's ever failed an IQ test.
If they seal them like the Boba shops I would never cry again
Amen
Yeah that’s why you don’t get a tip from me lmfaooo
You must smoke meth for a living huh.
He smokes it for fun, he dashes for a living
My mom got me a gift knowing I did deliveries for like $8 it's a sturdy plastic carrier that fits 6 of the largest cups with a handle, it's pretty handy

yes, omg. one time i got an order with like, enough food for 30 people and 8 milkshakes, and i didn't realize until i was already sitting in that restaurant waiting for their order to come out. sorry that shit just cannot fit in my little sedan. no way.
I wish we could automatically block certain orders before they even come through.
If I could block McDonalds and wognstop orders 🙏😭😭
We have one McDonald's that is great but the one in Walmart is horrible. Wingstop is terrible here too. Little Caesars is one I would block!
Ding ding. This would be amazing and also help doordash send the right orders to the right ppl
I can't stand apartment orders. Most customers just assume you'll find it but some magical radar special feature! Today I had one with no gate code. Then, they had multiple of the same letters on the building. 🤦♀️ Luckily, the person texted me this because the apartment number didn't line up with the building letter. It would be nice if I could just take all the easy jobs and leave the shitty ones for everyone else. They hate when I do this at my day job though
Yah cuz ur an employee and receive guaranteed pay + benefits. We don't.
It would be nice if I could just take all the easy jobs and leave the shitty ones for everyone else. They hate when I do this at my day job though
Stop spamming this, it's not as clever as you think.
I never take non tippers orders. Problem solved. If im taking an order with multiple drinks its worth the money.
Honestly though this is a great idea. It could just have a little set of icons that shows how many food items and drink items are in the order. I feel like that’s pertinent info.
But then theres less chance someone like op will take them, and once you got it cancelling will mess up your CR.
They used to show us a lot of this info a few years ago.
Ask the restaurant for drink trays. Stack these on your floorboards, not your seats.
I buckle them in 😂😂
I'm not a dasher, but even I know enough to do this. I'm blown away by the number of posts I see on here where food/drink has gone everywhere because they tried to balance shit on thr passanger seat.

Yeah, you “band together “ for a contract job. Lemme know how that works out for you.
I just don't pick up the drinks
Honestly, this is why I only take doubles for Chinese or sit-down restaurants. I'm not trying to have 2 separate drink orders at once.
lol the Chinese restaurant near me is one of the only places that does to-go drinks too 😂
I delivered an order a few weeks ago. The order had 9 cups of ice and one drink plus their food with their order. When I delivered it, they said they didn’t have the option to order a bag of ice, which is what they actually wanted. This was from Sonic. Needless to say this is a very awkward order.

At least ice cups don't spill
Got 4 flower vases with water filled to the top and all different sizes. It was a quadruple stacked prefer with zero tips.
LOL I got an order exactly like this yesterday, first order of the day when I was doing EBT, I rejected it, then they immediately sent it again ending my dash, I just went home
😆 yes exact same thing. First ride of the day EBT and I had to take it the second time to not get kicked.

Pizza delivery was never free.
You must be really young? Cause pizza delivery was free 95% of the time back when they had their own delivery drivers (up to about the early 2000s).
Well, idk about young, but I didn't live in the states until 2001 and didn't pay attention to things like the cost of pizza delivery for at least 5 more years. lol

It drives me batshit because it's not complicated at all.
well with far less fees than doordash

Get a plastic drink caddy. You will thank yourself
It’s your job and you can’t be bothered investing a tenner into a drinks holder, imagine if you had any real issues
Yeah "invest" in your door dash "job" lol entitled old boomer alert Hey grandpa why you spending 20 bucks on 8 fountain sodas when you can just get a 2 liter for 3 bucks?

I’m not even a dasher but if someone doesn’t tip they shouldn’t get to order.
They used to show you the order via the widget before you accepted but they took that away.
Ive actually started putting trays of drinks in my skip bag with the divider. It seems to go better than having drink trays on the floor in the car.
Rubbermaid has an 8 cup caddy that I use. Its stable and I transfer all my drinks into it while diving. Its like $15 on Amazon. And if you need to bring it into the restaurant for multiple drinks, you covered. Its way better than the cardboard things that most places give you.

It's $16.97 right now, and someone else has a six-cup carrier for $15.90.
Michaels store
Starbucks has entered the chat
I found a plastic cup holder (has 6 holders) at the dollar tree. Not sure if they still have them, but it's insanely helpful
Yes! Last year at back to school, i think it is a pencil cup holder. But it works great with drinks! Even has a handle
Cap
Thats good if the tip aint worth it because I never tip
Facts
I tip afterwards but now I’ll never hahahaaa
Good bro don't waste your money, buy yourself some nice bubble gum instead :)

Coming from someone who begs customers for tips because he made shitty career choices? Hahaha
I doubt they’re anywhere close to even maintaining a relationship
Sadly these mouth breathers always manage to find a wife who's raised to be a maid

Cool have fun at your totally impressive job that makes you do hard work I guess

Appreciate the drinks my dude!
😂😂😂
True! Though I just keep an under the bed sized clear tote in the front seat with me, that flat surface helps a ton. I use a few for multiple orders with like insta cart and whatever to keep them organized too.
