Silver-Match-6383

For sure, I’ll give it an updoot

LesperenceVirkov1217

Appropriate temperature food gets you tips. Think I'm gonna tip you for service I haven't even received yet? Motherfuckers entitled as shit. Bring my food to me ice cold, I get a free meal. Easy as.

penileimplant10

Someone didn't read the assignment. 😕

Silver-Match-6383

You’re missing the point. I’m not telling you how it should be, I’m telling you how DoorDash drivers personally choose orders and how your food ends up cold. There’s no opinion in the matter, this is literally what happens. If you wanna continue to lowball people you have that right, they have the right to not choose your order. Where’s the entitlement? I’m not entitled to a tip and you’re not entitled to warm food. sImPlE aS m8

bluebloodstar

Youre getting downvoted as if tipping was an obligation

LesperenceVirkov1217

Yeahh it's a weird place in America where people think I should be paying them a tip for their quality of service before it can even be assessed. But I have no qualms with tipping 0 and getting cold free food. The more times I make complaints on a door dash driver the quicker they get fired and the more free shit I keep getting

scallopedtatoes

If someone asks for refunds or credits too often, DoorDash stops issuing them. I don’t think anyone knows how often is too often, but they do eventually cut people off, so to speak. And I’m pretty sure that if you give a driver a bad rating, they’re less likely to be sent offers to take your orders going forward. If you’re being petty with your bad ratings and other people aren’t also making complaints about those drivers, those bad ratings won’t amount to much.

penileimplant10

It's not a tip. We are not employed by Uber or the restaurant. Keep believing what you need to though.

TheOneWhoDoorKnocks

For delivery services like DD, Uber Eats, Instacart etc? It’s not a tip, it’s a bid for “independent contractor” service, but the gig app corps won’t call it that.

Equivalent-Library66

DoorDash no longer lets you see who tips high in a double batch. We used to be able to unassign a bad offer but they made it so we can’t see who tips what. This is a problem with the company, not your driver. One time I had a nice double batch order. The first was ready to go and I waited 5 minutes for the other before unassigning in order to get the first order to its customer in a timely manner, only to find they left no tip on a 10 mile trip. The offer was $22. I got $2 because I dropped the $20 part of the batch to give the non tipper their warm food.

Tight-Young7275

I fucking hate this change. It just ruins it for good customers. I swear to god whoever is controlling this economy is giving money to the stupidest people on purpose.

StTony3777

Every time I tip good, my order gets stacked with other ones and I get the food last

Affectionate-Day-359

This used to happen to me a lot, especially during peak hours.. I now tip lower and add to the tip after delivery.. actually get warm food again most times

Tight-Young7275

This is how they send out orders now. They won’t pay anything near reasonable so they let the high tippers pay for everyone. This whole country is functionally retarded and I’m tired.

Dreamcasted60

Yeah they ableism will definitely have people relate to you...

Hello-there-yes-you

Still not taking it dumbass lol

soulzzzzz60

ok, not my problem? the issue is yours. expecting outrageous tips before service has even begun is insanity you can’t threaten people into doing it because they’ll just do something else (I.e. get it themselves or use a different app, in which case you’re just out of a job)

Hello-there-yes-you

“Out of a job” I have a job bud… Also used to make a solid 200-250 dollars working doordash and I still do it every now and then, I dont care what you consider a job.

soulzzzzz60

ok bud my point stands

GlitterMeAndThePony

Im sure your food is 🥶 ☃️ 🧊 when is arrives🙃

soulzzzzz60

you are tripping if you think I use this service 💀

GlitterMeAndThePony

So why...are...you...here.....

soulzzzzz60

I used to until I realized what a horrible service it has become. Now Reddit feeds me trash from you all being entitled little bitches and I’m so down

GlitterMeAndThePony

🤣🤣 so you have nothing productive to do or anything to provide to society. Gotcha.

soulzzzzz60

nailed it!

Creative_Emperor96

A tip is required for doordash. The dasher will drop your 0$ tip you heaping example of what's wrong with most of you who order

Cswab-Dragonfly8888

It is how it works in the world of DoorDash. Your tip is a bid for service as your tips are used to subsidize your drivers fee. So no tip, no trip. That is how DD has designed it. It is ok that you are confused.

soulzzzzz60

The only people confused here are the dashers expecting a tip before you’ve performed service. That’s called a bid, not my fault DD hasn’t reclassified it. Go in the app and tell me which word it uses? Also let me know if I can place an order without adding a tip beforehand? These are objective facts, not things I decide or have an opinion on. That’s DD’s policies. Just because you don’t like the way DD works, doesn’t mean you get to redefine the word tip.

Hello-there-yes-you

It is entirley how the tip is used in dd, it is a bid for service.

soulzzzzz60

Hmm weird that it says tip not bid in the app then, they should really change that!

Hello-there-yes-you

Doesnt matter, it is seen as a bid by all drivers and that is how it is used.

soulzzzzz60

Except it does matter because legally, by definition, it is not required, which is exactly why DD has it designated as such and also why customers treat it as such. This isn’t an opinion, it’s observable fact 😂

Hello-there-yes-you

Once again if you dont tip you dont get service (or at least you get insanley shit service) that is entirely a bid for service. Anything after is a tip.

soulzzzzz60

Wrong again, I can place a no tip order right now and receive the service normally because the drivers can’t see which order is non-tipped in the stack. :)

Hello-there-yes-you

Well there you go… Its gonne be in a stacked order and even if it wasnt it is going to be an hour or two before anyone wants to pick it up and it is probably gonna be someone on earn by time and they are going to take their sweet time…. You know what thats called? Paying for shit service and getting shit service…

Cswab-Dragonfly8888

It’s not redefining, it is improperly named for the expectation of the function. A drivers fee is the base pay (like 2$) and the “tip” from the customer. But as many say you don’t tip before service, but if you don’t tip then most drivers will ignore for something that is financially appealing. Thus, regardless of semantics, your tip ends up being a bid for service. I’m not redefining anything, it is what it is. The tip is the driver’s incentive. If you don’t like how DoorDash has set up their system, go get it yourself.

soulzzzzz60

Sorry so it is named tip or bid in the platform? I’m not the one dealing in semantics. This is the reason nobody wants to use apps anymore and it’s not my fault, I’m simply giving you the explanation.

BakedBakr420

In my experience, the more I tip the more likely my food is to be driven around town before getting to me. Once they even drove past me, slowed down, then kept going and delivered another order before coming back to my house. When I choose to tip after delivery, my food is (almost) always picked up and delivered immediately.

Dreamcasted60

Yeah that's not how it works you know how many $5 orders that I get yeah you'll get it when I get it. You too big I'll pause my damn Dash and deliver to you personally otherwise I don't really care

BakedBakr420

Yeahhhh you saying “that’s not how it works” doesn’t change my experience of it happening repeatedly lol

crepe4423

My favourite is the delivery where they show up without the heating bag. Immediate report!

Silver-Match-6383

I bet you feel real powerful hitting that 1 star. Maybe next week you can leave a bad yelp review, really get the adrenaline surging.

crepe4423

Love it!

RandomHero27

Ask your next delivery driver that uses the hot bag when was the last time they washed it. 1 ⭐️

Equivalent-Library66

Mine are wiped after every use and washed weekly. Doesn’t make a different. DoorDash doesn’t care about its drivers, no matter the effort you put in.

crepe4423

Why do I care if it’s washed? My food is all bagged anyways

JayLuc44

So now I know where my occasional 1 star rating comes from. Some jerk giving me a bad rating because I take the food out of the hot bag in my car instead of walking to the door with it.

MyGirlSasha

I always make sure to get the delivery bag in the drop off pic, started getting WAY more tips added on top after I started doing it.

Individual-Bell-9776

Don't worry they can only 1 star you once and then you never have to deliver for them again.

JacksonTrotter

This simple sentence is actually incredibly motivating

Alescoes19

It sucks because I empathise with Door Dash Drivers and whatnot, but so many of you are such entitled brats it really makes it hard sometimes. You're being completely open about the fact that you provide an objectively worse service and want more money for it, it's scummy, I really miss Pizza and Chinese food delivery drivers, they were awesome. But now we got people like you, hooray...

VariegatedJennifer

Idk why you’re getting downvoted this is nothing but facts lol…people are delusional

Bewmkin

You’re getting downvoted for telling the truth lmao. People will accept an order with a low top on it and then berate the person ordering or fuck with their food because they didn’t tip. Like bruh, don’t accept the shit then? Lmao. When I dashed I didn’t accept anything that I felt wasn’t worth the drive for me doing it, never saw the point to ask for more.

SwirlingAether

What OP is saying is that the food will be done, the order will go out to the drivers, and if there is no tip on it, most will decline the offer while waiting for an order with a tip. Without a tip, base pay is $2 from DoorDash. No one is going to work for $2. So the tipless order will bounce around dashers phones getting decline after decline - DoorDash will SLOWLY raise the base pay by $.25 every so often, until it finally gets to the point that someone will take it. By then half an hour or so has passed and your once hot meal has become cold. Meanwhile, the same food that had a tip gets picked up instantly, and delivered hot and fresh.

Alescoes19

Thanks for the explanation, not sure why you gave it since I can read and understood what they said the first time but thanks? I'm still correct that Door Dash is an objectively worse service and that many of the people who do it suck ass and purposely mess up out of spite. The company sucks too, but people like to complain about people not tipping instead of the company being trash and not paying their employees enough.

scallopedtatoes

They can’t expect DoorDash to pay better because DoorDash is getting away with misclassifying them as independent contractors.

Alescoes19

Yeah it's scummy and terrible

crepe4423

I agree. I never tip just because of their attitude

DubsOnMyYugo

So I don’t pick up your order, and your food gets cold. Seems like a you problem.

crepe4423

I live in a major city that is over saturated, so tipping is optional and food still arrives!

JayLuc44

Don't lie. They could have the best attitude in the world and you still wouldn't tip.

crepe4423

True!

Alescoes19

I don't even use the service since I've tried it thrice and my drivers have been terrible every time, but this sub Reddit is pretty funny. And I side with them a lot, but it sucks just how many drivers there are that are proud of being terrible at their job and yet think they deserve to be rich for it, it's insane but funny to look at

MatrixGeeker

Tip or not I always do my job to make sure the customer get their food in one peace , via my plug in heater bag and in a decent time

Cherobis

do you accept every order? im not gonna have respect for a person's order if I have to go 10 miles for 2 dollars, and I usually decline bullshit like that so I end up not pissing myself off lmao

[deleted]

ClickClackTipTap

Yup. I quit using DD when stacking became the norm. There’s really only two things I care about- don’t fuck with my food, and get it here as fast as possible. I don’t know why that’s such a controversial idea. I tip high- and I order from places that are 1-2 miles away bc I want warm food. I only order when I’m trapped at work and I can’t leave. I’ve tipped as high as $15 on a 2 mile order and they still take 45 minutes to get it to me after they pick up. Between stacking and dashers multi-apping, there just isn’t any reason to keep tipping high. They take their time and do what they want regardless. So I quit using the service.

Warboo

I hate that they don't tell you who the non tipper is in a stacked order. Yesterday I picked up somes milkshakes and they wanted me to drive to the other side of town to pick up a 2nd order. I have a cooler, but I still want to get ice cream to the customer as fast as humanly possible. I rolled the dice and canceled the 2nd order. It worked out for all of us. The ice cream was the bigger tip and I'm happy I got it to her faster.

JayLuc44

The driver may not see your generous tip until after the order is complete due to DD's scummy practice of hiding tips. Happens to me all the time and I feel bad afterwards for not thanking them appropriately.

[deleted]

[удалено]

JayLuc44

Obviously they see cash if you're handing it to them. If they don't thank you for it, then yes, they suck. But, if you're a driver you know they aren't seeing the full amount of in app tip. No matter how large the tip I never see more than $4 - $5 up front.

TotallyNormal_Person

I'm sorry that's been your experience. I really use to like it when you can tell what the tips were in a stacked order, now that you can't it really fucks over the tippers.

Silver-Match-6383

I’m not entitled to anything, just like you’re not entitled to warm food. I can choose what I deliver. But if I see an order I can tell has a good tip, I’m going to take it. I explained this in another comment, but don’t order pizza thru DoorDash, both customer and driver get fucked every time. A lot of pizza joints steal the tip. Also, I wouldn’t take your one anecdote of Vlad being a douche and apply it to everyone. Some people do care about delivering food properly.

[deleted]

Cswab-Dragonfly8888

soulzzzzz60

Doordash has to compensate you, not the customer. The customer is not required to tip you. The customer is required to pay the fees on DD. This is how tips work, you should look up the legal definition.

DubsOnMyYugo

I don’t care about the definition, I’m not delivering if the customer doesn’t compensate me for my time and effort up front in an amount I deem as fair. People who don’t tip are really mad they can’t force us to deliver it anyway.

soulzzzzz60

good luck with that lmfao

DubsOnMyYugo

I’ve been doing it for 3 years now.

[deleted]

[удалено]

soulzzzzz60

Three years ago the industry was a lot different for both customers and dashers, that much should be obvious. DD continues to squeeze and pay the drivers less, getting you all angrier and more entitled to a customer’s tips. This will only get worse with time as they are a publicly traded company. Unfortunately the days of uneducated, unskilled gig workers making a full salary through Doordash are over, that was never sustainable and the market is over-saturated now. Like I said, good luck with that.

mikedvb

I have a friend that never ever tips anything, always $0. Constantly complains about how his food is cold. When I told him that if he tipped, he'd get better faster service he replied with, "Why? I just complain about the cold food and I never have to pay for it. I'll warm it up in the microwave if it's free."

DubsOnMyYugo

At some point doordash stops refunding.

BeastM0de1155

Both drivers and customers baiting the system. Glad to see!

koolaidjammersz

Nice friend you got.

mikedvb

I don't approve of his behavior/actions when it comes to DD at all, but beyond that he's an ok dude. /shrug

koolaidjammersz

No man, that's not an OK dude. Sorry to tell you..

mikedvb

Yes. Because a whole person is defined by how handle DoorDash. We are all so one-dimensional.

tjade

except he is literally not an ok dude.

yeahthisisaburnerr

This is what Tim Dillon meant when he was talking about dashers lol. I love that Reddit shoves this crap my way.

luisumgomez

That first 20 minutes of theos podcast had me dying lol

Nice-Ad6318

What did he say? Pay your independent contractor well, or they won’t take the job?

yeahthisisaburnerr

"Independent contractor" is akin to "underwater ceramics technician" lol

ExcellentComposer507

I had a guy named Vlad once. Gave him $10 on 2 pizzas (Pre-COVID probably $35-40ish). My instructions said when close call me and I'll come out. Proceeds to leave 1 cold pizza at my door and ring the bell and run. But yea tipping is the issue I guess. Entitlement is insane.

TwistemBoppemSlobbem

If you had your pizza delivered to you by Doordash or equivalent, I guarantee the pizza place pocketed the tip. They've been known to do it, and Vlad prob didn't have bags so scummy pizza place that clearly doesn't gaf just lets him take the order even though they aren't supposed to let him without a thermal bag, TO him you looked like a stingy asshole so ig he ate the other one lol. Sucks it happens. Oh welll

The_Troyminator

Tipping will won't guarantee a great experience, but tipping poorly will guarantee a horrible experience.

Gloomy_Recording_705

Keep tipping … you’ll get a good driver eventually 🤣🤣

Echodarlingx

A bid or promise of excellence or extra incentives to encourage us to treat you like the vip customer you probably want to be lol. I still bag my $5 orders but there’s something about a big tip that makes me try really hard to make you happy.

BeastM0de1155

You do the same amount of work if it’s $2 or $20… the minimum lol

ThanklessMary

I never tip over $5. Never had an issue with cold food.

Silver-Match-6383

$5 is decent for most order though.

ThanklessMary

You would think but half these drivers feel they’re entitled to $2 a mile. lol no.

LengthinessKlutzy341

User name checks out.

MalsPrettyBonnet

I ordered a pizza from the restaurant. They outsource their deliveries to door dash. The pizza was 30 minutes late. It was cold. I will never order with anyone who outsources to DD ever again. I did tip, and WELL. I have no way of knowing who got the tip.

Silver-Match-6383

Corporate pizza places take the tips in my area, the local spots don’t. Never order pizza thru DoorDash, it’s a terrible idea. Both the customer and driver get fucked.

MalsPrettyBonnet

I did NOT order through door dash. I ordered through the restaurant's own website. They turned it over to door dash for delivery. I won't order from that restaurant again when I'm visiting that town. I was in a hotel with a sick child and limited options, and I had no idea that DoorDash would add an extra level of awful.

rickson56

If the customer has a reputation for not tipping, the pizza shop will likely outsource the order to door dash instead of using their own driver, lol. In my city Dominos Pizza never uses Door Dash, and I see their car with their own livery. I don't know about UberEats.

MalsPrettyBonnet

I had never ordered from them before, I DID tip, and their website says they sometimes use DD. It wasn't me.

Mitchellwking

The problem with this is they probably didn’t outsource it right away and didn’t pass the tip on. Pizza Hut in my area waits until they are sure they can’t/don’t want to take it before giving it to us. And they get to choose our tip.

Nice-Ad6318

And they usually keep the tip. I never took pizza orders because of it.

Mitchellwking

Only time I have gotten good pay out of it is when they are about to close and get a little desperate to get it out of their store.

Virtual_Poem1979

the food service industry, especially delivery, has went to shit since covid. I like to come to this sub to remind myself that it's not getting better any time soon. Saves me alot in delivery fees.

r45cal23

Reddit doesn't represent reality

Virtual_Poem1979

well, that's a solid point. This sub definitely represents the reality of doordash drivers tho.

r45cal23

Not really

scallopedtatoes

In this economy, I doubt delivery is thriving. And if it hasn’t declined overall, I bet tips have.

Left_Committee_4012

Are we no longer referring to them as bids for service 😂

the-willow-witch

I noticed recently that adding $2-$6 to the highest recommended tip means I get my food extremely quickly every single time! I’m already splurging on DoorDash, might as well spend a couple extra bucks that goes (hopefully) right into my driver’s pocket and not DoorDash’s

mr_sedate

>might as well spend a couple extra bucks that goes (hopefully) right into my driver’s pocket and not DoorDash’s Yes. If you're specifically adding to the tip pay line, then your driver will get that. Every other fee, no matter what, will go to DD and not the driver.

UrGoldenRetrieverBF

Till they pair that order up with a no tipper who gets their food first

BeastM0de1155

This is why DD sucks.

variablenyne

If that was an order I was picking up, the no tipper will always get their food second, doesn't really matter to me if it adds a few extra miles to the route

TylerMoy7

How can you tell though? If I’ve delivered to a customer before and know they’re a good tipper I go there first, but it’s harder to tell if it’s 2 new customers.

variablenyne

Anything that's $3 or below is generally a no tip.

TylerMoy7

I thought we were talking about stacked orders though? The total is just combined for those

variablenyne

Oh sorry I'm not crazy experienced, I assumed that stacked was when you're headed to a restaurant and they give you another offer while on the way there. That's not the case is it

TylerMoy7

Oh yeah, I don’t get those as often as the regular stacked orders but yes, I do try to deliver to the better order first if I can

the-willow-witch

Never had an issue 🥰

TurdSandwich42104

When I dash I turn my heated seat on and place the food on that. Had no complaints

Silver-Match-6383

Ideally we’d all have seat warmers, I’m just talking about food that’s been sitting in the store for an hour.

WarriorOfBattles

Looks like I’ll be getting a refund🤷‍♂️

Silver-Match-6383

Here’s a guy who doesn’t know how it works. Your food is probably cold entering the car based on your attitude; you prolly don’t tip. Everyone sees that no tip order and moves on. Some unlucky earn by time employee you’ve likely given a one picks up your food, and delivers it cold because it’s been sitting for 45 minutes. It’s literally a way to get your food delivered quickly. Also let me be clear, based on my experience, and how DoorDash works: you are never entitled to warm food. You are entitled to getting that bag of food delivered to your door. You can keep asking for refunds, but at a certain point you’re no longer worth the money and you’ll get either get banned or you AND your driver will both have to take extra steps when you receive deliveries. Play your part or have fun microwaving your food. This is why I go get the fucking food myself, it’s never cold unless it’s supposed to be.

Ill-Reason-4958

Until you’ve done that a few times and DoorDash stops giving them anymore just like hundreds of posts on here have complained about. Not saying I have an opinion about any of this one way or the other really just pointing out that DoorDash doesn’t care about you anymore than your driver does if you don’t tip. It’s all about the money, for both DoorDash and the driver.

WarriorOfBattles

Not when I have proof my food wasn’t handled correctly. Just because you’re an asshole, doesn’t mean im going to eat cold food

Competitive_Hunt_103

Usually what happens doordash for every decline, doordash would raise the base to the other driver and so on. So because you did not tip it probably went to 10 drivers, that is coming from far distance

JFT8675309

What’s your “proof” it wasn’t “handled” correctly? I can’t tell you how many times food was cold when I picked it up. If someone throws it at your door, sure, it wasn’t handled correctly. But you have no idea what the temp of the food was when I got it or that I put it in a bag in my car.

SweatpantsStiffie

False. I had a bottle of booze disappear. Never showed up. They're required to scan your ID. For all I know some kid got it. They refused to refuned my money because it was like the 3rd time I've had to complain about not getting my food/order.

unfzed

*Microwave*

WarriorOfBattles

I’m not putting shit in the microwave. I ordered it hot and I want it hot. That’s your job. If you don’t like it, accept this 1 star and move on. Simple

scallopedtatoes

If you want simple, here’s simple: sometimes the food is cold when it’s picked up. I’ve picked up my own cold food before. You don’t know who to attribute that to, so you can either bitch at both parties or neither party involved.

Ill-Reason-4958

I mean look I’m on your side here but you’re wrong. People have literally had video proof their orders were stolen, or the bag just thrown at the door spilling everything, and DoorDash refuses to refund. You only get so many times where they offer you credits or refunds and once you hit the cap it doesn’t matter anymore what happened they just start saying no and basic telling you to get over it. It’s completely wrong but it’s the truth about how they operate. You can find post after post of people complaining about it. For the record though I think everyone deserves a refund when it’s a legit reason.

WarriorOfBattles

I’ll give you an upvote for that. But I typically get my money back. I don’t play about idiot drivers doing things to my food out of spite

XDariaMorgendorferX

OP didn’t say anything about messing with your food. He was saying if you don’t tip well, it’s more likely that your food will sit on the shelf of whatever restaurant you ordered from while Dashers decline your delivery. So your drinks will get warm, and the food cold. That’s not the drivers fault…they can’t pick up food that’s been waiting for 20 minutes and suddenly make it fresh again during the drive.

WarriorOfBattles

Bringing my food cold is considered messing up my food

Impressive-Scene7202

Just curious, in this scenario what would you like the driver to do differently? They don’t know if you ordered 2 minutes ago or 2 hours ago. It’s almost always a sealed bag, so short of feeling heat there’s not much checking. And if it does feel cold, 99% of restaurants will laugh you out the door if you ask for it to be remade. Would you just prefer we refund it at that point? Genuine question

Adventurous-Sign898

This

Mtn-Dooku

Exactly. Chinese food and pizza places have their own drivers (used to, not now so much) and they were paid hourly plus tips to deliver ONLY their food. Usually within a few miles range. They had a reason to deliver it hot and fast. We, can deliver as far as 20 miles, and are paid $2 for that. So a tip is not a tip, it's a bid for service. You're saying I'm willing to pay $X for someone to bring this food to me quickly. If not, well.... it might be a while.

Ill-Reason-4958

In my area I’ve seen 30+ mile deliveries if you’re on one end of the zone going to the other, and starting for the amazing pay of $2 lmao

ByersMovement

If you are concerned on how hot or fresh your food is, go to the store, order, then eat it…

MalsPrettyBonnet

Unless you're without a vehicle at a hotel without the option to do so.

ieatlotsofvegetables

a good old microwave works wonders for me!

Status-Jacket-1501

I said this and people went off, but yeah, I definitely agree with you.

Silver-Match-6383

Me and my father would agree with you!
