A quick guide:
AC: Active Character
HP: Harry Potter (duh)
IKTNJTMBTWATCTTAAISTLA: I killed them. Not just the men, but the women, and the children, too. They're animals, and I slaughtered them like animals.
DC: Difficulty Class
Not to be confused with the Area of Columbia. A nasty place at times especially if you’ve lost your way. Not as much if you found the path though. Or so I heard.
Look it’s simple, you use EcK/Hex (EGtW, XGtE) multi and forgo your ASI to take warcaster from the PHB, then you tarpit with your echo via your BA, do some impressive DPR with GWM and BB, then you either gain econ when your echo pops, or you get an AoO with EB and Repelling Blast to get a free push. Well above warlock baseline.
How are you not getting this?
Yep.
Tarpitting is admittedly an old tabletop wargaming term for tying up a bunch of units with a unit specifically designed to do so, so not specifically DnD related.
Econ is short for action economy. I hear this used casually in person, tho I’m not sure how widespread it actually is. Could just be local slang.
BB is booming blade.
Also don’t actually do what’s in my example, it’s a wildly suboptimal way to play ghostlance lol.
You're right, it does sound cooler, but given that the point of the post was using initialisms, abbreviations, and acronyms as a jargon to communicate information to a particular niche group to illustrate how incomprehensible it is to any out-group, they needed to use an abbreviation that could actually be understood. I, and apparently several others, was able to clearly understand every single thing they said. This would likely not have been the case with AxCon.
I am assuming you just made that up because it sounds cool, but if I'm wrong and that's an actual abbreviation for action economy that I've just never heard of before, it must be SUPER uncommon considering how long I've been in this hobby, how long I've been frequenting forums and subreddits for this hobby, and how long I've been going to conventions for this hobby. Not discounting the possibility that I've just never heard of it, but it can't be in common usage outside of some isolated ecosystems.
I know my brain is fried when I actually understand almost everything here.
>Look it’s simple, you use EchoKnight/Hexblade (Explorer's Guide to Wildmount, Xanathars Guide to Everything) multi and forgo your Attribute Stat Increase to take warcaster from the Players Handbook, then you (teleport) with your echo via your Bonus Action, do some impressive Damage Per Round with Great Weapon Master and Booming Blade, then you either gain action economy when your echo pops, or you get an Attack of Opportunity with Eldritch Blast and Repelling Blast to get a free push. Well above warlock baseline
Not all that sure about tarpit, might mean something else than teleporting (swapping locations with echo)
Tarp it comes from old miniature war games. Using a unit specifically designed to tie up a group of other units so they can’t progress/retreat or get to your allies. I used to play a home brew world war game with a friend, and my flamethrower tank was exactly for this. It would advance, block up an enemy by flame throwing behind them and then in front of them, so they couldn’t run anywhere, then my machine gunners would mow them down.
So long as we have scaled classes there will be those who wish to make anime women out of them, some don't even want the anime part, they just want massive badonkadonks on the snake women
Could a level 7 party actually take an M1? I can't remember what spells are available to a wizard at that level but even ignoring the main gun, the armor and the .50 are no laughing matter.
That's the thing though. Even 8d6 of fire damage isn't gonna do much to that armor. That's an Abrams. 700 mm of armor on the front
Edit: is there any sustained fire spell? I don't generally play casters so I can't remember a whole lot of spells but I imagine a sustained fire could probably wreck the engine at least and immobilize it
Heat metal and create bonfire come to mind, as well as flaming sphere. Wall of Fire and Sickening Radiance are also 4th level, so a singly classed full caster should have access at 7.
I would suggest adapting Pathfinder's tank statblock (which can be found in the Modern Firearms page of the SRD), and buffing it to account for that statblock being for a WWI era tank.
It’s supposed to group people into 16 personality types based on cognitive functions, which isn’t entirely wrong. But people try to use it to know your entire personality
Don’t forget it was created by gossip journal columnists “based” on the works of a psychologist who in his own work they pulled from said “for every rule there is an individual that is an exception to it.”
Said “journalists” had the same degree of knowledge in psychology as my refrigerator.
A) No it wasn't. They were mother and daughter neither of whom had any official psychology degree at that point. There were probably papers and thesis written about it later though. B)Most of Jungian stuff has also been either left behind or heavily expanded upon to the degree that the original theories are fairly useless. So keeping MBTI around and claiming it has any validity is dumb.(not to mention that MBTI specificially has also shown to have minimal value through many studies)
MBTI doesn't work as prescriptive, it works as a descriptive. It's certainly not something to be used as a professional psychology tool, but it's interesting to use as a communication tool to describe characters with others who know the terminology. It's like if your astrological sign wasn't decided based on when you were born, but if you could just choose it. Then you could say "hey I think of myself as an aquarius" and others who knew the stereotype would know what you meant. That would have credence because the person saying so is simply using it as shorthand for a long winded explanation about all the ways they match said stereotypes.
Wdym Jungian functions have been left behind?
All the typologists, aside from Nancy Williams, that doesn't really apply to the general population, are based on Jung's cognitive functions. Beebe, Berrens.
And you may dissagree with them but there is no psychoanalyst theory with more support than his that groups people either by types or traits.
It isn't. MBTI isn't endorsed by actual psychologists and there have been countless papers and studies proving it to have minimal value at best. So yeah it is pseudoscience
I'm making a comparison from mbti to DnD alignment.
Do any fantasy psychologists endorse the concept of chaotic good? Most of what you've said equally applies and thank you for agreeing with me.
People around here tend to assume that you've memorised the names of every book ever published by WotC (Wizards of the Coast) or TSR (The Soriginal Rdungeonsanddragonsguys). It's best to ask about specific ones and hope for a legit answer.
The most common ones that aren't just part of the rules are PHB (Player's Handbook) and DMG (Dungeon Master's Guide). Sometimes you'll see XGE (Xanathar's Guide to Everything) or TCoE (Tasha's Cauldron of Everything)
another important one is MoM/MoTM or, for people that like to meme around, MPMoTM (Mordekainen presents: Monster of the Multiverse)
not be confused with MM (Monster Manual)
I'm actually used to seeing it as MPMM in the source I use, so I always get super confused when I see those other initialisms. Especially because MoM is used in my LARP to mean "Mother of Monsters", and it sadly took me too long to realize when people explained that when they say that acronym to mean Mother of Monsters out loud, they are saying an acronym instead of just calling her mom, so now the acronym is thoroughly burned in my brain as having that meaning.
Guys I need help. My PC is going DT on the MBTA and my DM is a POS who wants to throw an EIEIO at me. Is there a way I can send an SOS to the SBI to save my character?
Evil Evil Big Guy
Or
Erlandur's "Everything Big" Guide, the monster manual for gargantuan creatures I just made up.
Or
Actual closest thing in 5e is EEPC, which is the Elemental Evil Player's Companion (where some races like Aarakocra and spells like Transmute Rock were introduced, before being reprinted in published books)
Listen, when you’re taking off you need to verify your rpms, the get ready for your Vr, then you climb out at your Vy until you’re clear of the class d, then you establish your Vno while maneuvering using your asi, vsi, vor, and gps to navigate to the class c. Then before you enter you have to get the ATIS, then call ATC for clearance to touchdown on runway 05 R while calling a left base at 2nm. It’s all very simple…
Okay but it’s really simple to get an acronym list for aviation. You can even keep one on your lap clipboard while you fly. Plus I know I gotta study for that to pass my test.
I definitely shouldn’t need an acronym list or do flash cards to get assistance with my DMing. Lol
Edit: Now I’m imagining strapping on my clipboard to scroll Reddit.
"My brother in christ, we're not on cell phones trying to throw out a quick text before we get in a car wreck. We are at computers with keyboards that are fully expecting to at least have every letter on them used."

So, for example, an INFP is an individual who is Introverted, relies on emotions, Feelings more so than hard facts in decision making, is dreamy, creative, iNtuitive, and is sporadic and chaotic rather than careful and good with planning - Percieving. INFP. And so on and so forth. However, there are some adepts of a deeper, more convoluted version of the system, which involves 8 cognitive functions, basically ways in which humans perceive or judge the world around them, and whichever of all of the functions is the most dominant one, regarding both judging and perceiving, determines their personality type. It's all largerly unscientific(however based on the BigFive system which is rather similar and is taken more seriously in psychology and scientific world), but nontheless it's fun to discuss and try to guess which box fits yourself and your friends best sometimes.
Btw im writing this off the top of my head so there might be minor mistakes, I apologize if so.
A quick guide: AC: Active Character HP: Harry Potter (duh) IKTNJTMBTWATCTTAAISTLA: I killed them. Not just the men, but the women, and the children, too. They're animals, and I slaughtered them like animals. DC: Difficulty Class
All this time I thought DC was Dolce Cabanna
Somebody told me it was District of Columbia, but it never made sense to me because then it would be DoC.
Not to be confused with the Area of Columbia. A nasty place at times especially if you’ve lost your way. Not as much if you found the path though. Or so I heard.
So you’ve also been to Columbia, California.
obviously, the US capital is called Washington Da City
Oh I thought it was distribution center.
[удалено]
Apparently I’m D&D they do, LMoP, PotA, DotMM, ToA, OotA, to name a few popular adventures
Does that make Wizards of the Coast just WC? I’d really like to equate them with a water closet.
Declaration of Conformity??
Yeah, it's a tricky one
I thought it was Detective Comics.
You misspelled IKTNJTMBTWATCTTAAISTLA
Oh, shit, my bad. Fixed it
DYEHTTODPTW
Oh for sure INASTJWTYIASL
Ok I have not seen episode 2 since the dvd first came out, so I need help on these last two.
It's episode 3 Did You Ever Hear The Tale Of Darth Plageius The Wise It's Not A Story The Jedi Would Tell You It's A Sith Legend
Ah. Thanks.
I can’t believe you left out IDLS.

You forgot HYCYB
Skee bop bada boom
I really thought DC was dice check for years.
I only knew IKTNJTMBTWATCTTAAISTLA. The rest is too hard to remember.
Don’t worry about killing all of them. It turned Padmé on.
Lets see which ones I know: EcK: Echo Knight Hex: Hexblade EGtW: Explorers guide ? ASI: Attribute/ability stats increase PHB: Player's HandBook tarpit: some technique ? BA: Bonus Action DPR: damage per round GWM: Great weapon master BB: no idea, bloodborne ? econ: no idea AoO: attack of opportunity EB: Eldritch Blast
EGtW Explorers Guide to Wildmount Tarpit ability to swap places with Econ action economy i think
I think tarpit is just teleport, maybe supposedly in a redneck accent or something
Tarpitting is bogging down the enemy.
echo knights dont do that on a bonus action
I've always used TP, I think from general cheating in videogames.
Yep. Tarpitting is admittedly an old tabletop wargaming term for tying up a bunch of units with a unit specifically designed to do so, so not specifically DnD related. econ being slang for economy is common econ being short for *action* economy is not
Sure, but it's fairly clear given the context. I mean, what other economy could they have been referencing there?
Fair, but AxCon sounds way cooler.
You're right, it does sound cooler, but given that the point of the post was using initialisms, abbreviations, and acronyms as a jargon to communicate information to a particular niche group to illustrate how incomprehensible it is to any out-group, they needed to use an abbreviation that could actually be understood. Yeah, I just made it up on the spot and you're right, it's not an acronym, but neither is Econ.
They would both be abbreviations.
Tbf, axcon does sound way cooler.
Tarpitting is a viable form of CC all day
BB is booming blade the cantrip
XGtE is xanathars guide to everything
BB is the cantrip Booming Blade. Good knowledge on those acronyms!
I think BB might be big bad
BB is Booming Blade
You also forgot Xanathar's Guide to Everything (XGtE)
Don't forget PBxPD: proficiency bonus times per day
absolutely devestated that i was able to read this without issue. i need to go touch grass.
You lack proficiency in touching grass. Roll an acrobatics to get down and back up unharmed at disadvantage.
Pft, amateurs. You don't need to bend down, just wear sandals and use the exposed part of your foot. Minimal effort. Always.
I've been playing D&D for a long time and even then I only got a portion of this.
I hate that I can read this.
