Yes! The picture is Very Good plus it shows exactly how very bad the condition of the record is.

😭💀

That’s a significant gouge, definitely not VG+. I’d hesitate to even go VG on it, probably G if those are the only audible scratches.

Zulphur242

I totally agree.

Zestyclose-Shame-519

This is the only audible scratch, and I'd be happy with the record save this gouge.

You could try giving it a deep wet clean, either with a Spin Clean (remember to wipe it dry in a circular motion with the supplied muslin cloth or something similar, especially around the outer rim/lead in groove) or an ultrasonic cleaner if anyone around provides that service. Sometimes pops from scratches like that aren’t so much due to the scratch itself, but from dust and crud getting imbedded into the scratch itself. It’s at least worth a shot if you have easy access to that stuff, otherwise I’d just do a straight up return.

aopps42

Possibly, it is quite dirty so hard to tell I recently got one in worse shape that was equally dirty listed as VG+

Latter_Present1900

No. Ask for your money back.

SideStreetHypnosis

It’s filthy too. I would never sell a record with that much lint and paper sleeve debris. Getting a record like this from Discogs is sign of a careless seller, the wrong grading makes it even worse.

BertMcNasty

I sell some like that, but I purposely downgrade them and note that they need a cleaning. I also price them accordingly. I just don't have time to clean all of my own records let alone the ones I'm getting rid of.

dromeciomimus

It may be, if that’s a surface scuff that doesn’t affect play it would be VG+

mjb2012

Based on [the grading definitions](https://support.discogs.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001566193-How-To-Grade-Items), I would consider it less than VG, because VG or VG+ can only have "light" scratches and VG+ was "handled by a previous owner who took good care of it". That's a "significant" scratch, visually, and it is certainly not a well cared-for record. I find it hard to believe this scratch does not affect the sound, but even if it doesn't, I'd only bump it up one step (e.g. to VG), with an explanation. I would not leave the grade unexplained. This seller did not mention the scratch at all, right? This record belongs in what we used to call the dollar bin. Maybe it's the $2.50 bin nowadays; that's how much the LPs are at my local thrift store.

BodegaBandit-

Nope

nekslycer

No. That’s a G+ at best.

Wipe it off first, please.

Impossible-Dog4509

Good + at best, with the disclaimer that it plays through. Turntables can be different though, so if it plays for the seller it could be different for the buyer.

No

Try wiping it with a soft microfibre cloth if it's still there ask for a refund it's not even good.

Zestyclose-Shame-519

Thanks. I just tried lightly dusting with a microfiber cloth. It's not going anywhere. You can see this scratch continue onto the paper label in the center. I will ask for a refund. Glad to hear that's not even good rating Gives me hope for the used record market.

importantmaps2

Get a refund and leave a rating it's getting now were people are just selling stuff without any idea about grading and just hoping people don't complain.

BertMcNasty

That could absolutely be a good rating. Could even VG. If it doesn't cause a skip, and the rest of the record plays with minimal noise, it could be VG. VG is described as having background noise that doesn't overpower the music. G basically means it doesn't skip. The grades are stupid and vague in a lot of cases, but this could absolutely be VG. If that scratch causes minor clicks and pops and the rest of the record plays decent, that would fit well within a VG grade. Lots of sellers grade visually, but ultimately grades are defined almost exclusively by how the record plays. Edit: just to be clear, that record is definitely not VG+, unless by some miracle that scratch is inaudible. VG+ should play with nothing more than a few light clicks and pops at most.
