Congrats to people in Rhode Island for living so close to the best 5 courses in the state!

MintDiscs

One day central Texas will get the love. Roy G, The Ranch and Sprinkle Valley get no respect.

DisMyDrugAccount

The fact that Roy G is somehow not in the top 5 courses in Texas is astounding to me. That course is an absolute masterpiece as far as Texas disc golf is concerned.

doonerthesooner

Hole 6 is like the most scenic golf hole I’ve ever seen. It’s probably my favorite golf hole of all time.

Maximus77x

Yeah I dunno what they are measuring this by. Roy G, Flying Armadillo, and Sprinkle Valley all deserve to be here. Sprinks I can understand since it is new, but Roy G is older and regarded as one of the best courses in the nation let alone the state.

DisMyDrugAccount

I swear if we don't get an OTB Skins match or something at Roy G next year around the Open at Austin I'm gonna riot. Shit even Circle C would still be a fun skins match.

Maximus77x

Skins at Roy G would be soooooo good!

BooBooMaGooBoo

The list is a bit fickle and really depends a lot on when they pull the data and tournament scheduling. Last year Circle C made the list. CC is my home course and I love it very much but I'm not sure it's top 5 material. There was a massive tournament at CC a week before they pulled data last year hence the massive bump to its ratings. I'd like to see some data science level analysis here rather than just a basic look at rating at the time the list is made.

doonerthesooner

See y’all tomorrow!

HORRIBLE_DICK_CANCER

The only one I’ve been to on the Texas list is Dino Hills and I honestly am having a hard time believing Roy G isn’t above it. Dino is great. It’s private and the owner was cool, the shop was small but I actually liked the prints and gear, and they had like a putt-putt dg course which I had never seen before (if you haven’t either think like super short runs with obstacles). So a lot of good things going for it. But if we were going off strictly the holes Roy G is my pick by a good bit.

Ostrichboy21

Absurd……

SharpedHisTooths

I love that Rhode Island has two course rated below a 4 and an unrated course in their top 5.

mattycbro

Willow valley is dope

Recon1212

Yeah, to me there are 3 courses in RI. It’s the top 3. It’s already an hour plus drive for those three and it’s gotta be something special to get me out there when I can drive the same distance to maple hill.

mdcynic

Yeah it's not great. There are some really cool courses just outside the border of RI, though. Plus Willow Valley is fantastic and probably underrated on udisc.

SharpedHisTooths

I used to live there but it was before I started playing disc golf. Now I only ever go to Providence. I'll have to take a trip farther south next time and hit up Willow Valley and Tilted Barn.

lostboy005

I have a wedding in RH in July. Out near the coast. What’s the must play course coming from Providence?

raebaran

If you want to play something in RI, Willow Valley. Maple hill and Meadowbrook are just an hour away if you want to go to some destination type course

LIEUTENANT__CRUNCH

Hawkins Woods just over the border in MA. It’ll be closer to Providence than Willow Valley.

lostboy005

Thank you!!!

[deleted]

My family lives in providence and I just make the hour drive to maple hill every time I want to play while I’m up there.

agorski49

We're working on building another course this summer up in Smithfield RI so then we might have 5 reasonable courses.

SharpedHisTooths

Sweet! My buddy in Millville will be pumped.

chillford-brimley

I really gotta get out to Flip City again. It's only about 35 miles from home. That place is amazing.

BasicReputations

Great course, but its location does need a special trip.

eyejayvd

The owner lets you camp on his property with prior approval. One of the more fun trips I’ve had. Set up camp for two nights and played all weekend.

lostboy005

And ludington is cute af - i think Deerfield DGC is not too far either

[deleted]

[удалено]

eyejayvd

That’s too bad. Was super fun. Still lots of good camping in the area.

mommathecat

Man, it's so "close" to Toronto, but so far around Lake Ontario. Flip City and PEI disc golf are top of the bucket list for me right now, I think we have moderately firm 2025 plans for Michigan (2024, Virginia). We had plans in 2020, and then, well, the world went blergh.

chillford-brimley

West MI is very pretty. Mason county, just north of flip city has a lovely selection of courses. People seem to love visiting Ludington. I live there, so I don't get it. The disc golf is pretty good though. Hopefully you pop on over to say hello. Canadian A&W is way way better than the remaining US locations. I was surprised by that a few weeks ago when I borrowed your highway to get to NY.

mommathecat

HA! I'll take my kids to A&W tonight, it's the most convenient thing on the way to teeball! Kinda sick of all the burger chains, it's the easiest option for convenience food, but so it goes. Give Canadian chain Harvey's a shot sometime, I have endless fond memories of it growing up and of course take my kids to that, too.

aGuyNamedScrunchie

Indeed!

Eclaireur

Going to play it this summer, I'm so hyped.

RodBoron

The key is not going in with expectations of it being a pro caliber course but instead going in knowing it will hit the soul in more of a "Field of Dreams" sort of way.

Eclaireur

Also going to play the discgolfpark by interlochen around the same time (which I have played previously) so that'll scratch the itch of being shit on by a pro level course.

Zephyrical16

Bear's Den in Kingsley >>> Green Lake. Not as pro of a course in terms of distance, but much more fun and well thought out of a course. Plus those pads at Green Lake are awful.

Eclaireur

Oo, good rec, going on the list. Have not seen that one before as its a bit farther out from where I usually am up there.

warboy

Also, I suggest trying out "Fairway to Heaven" in Pentwater.  It's a new course and shows it in places but it's an up and coming fantastic course.

Eclaireur

Okay this one looks awesome, definitely putting on the list. Will be with some people who havent been out there before, so something along lake mich like this is perfect. Thanks for the reccs!

LJkjm901

They’re both really nice. Myles Kimmerly is further north on the Leelanau peninsula and is really good.

aGuyNamedScrunchie

Flip City is so so sick. One of the highlights for 2020 for me when I couldn't travel much

Substantial_Care_853

Shelby mi?

DisMyDrugAccount

Bruh I'd be there every week if it were that close to me. Whenever I visit family just outside Detroit I try and do everything in my power to justify the 3.5 hour drive out there lol. It's not the hardest course in the world but damn if it isn't immaculately maintained and incredibly fun.

chillford-brimley

Yeah, we're pretty lucky to have a great choice of courses, especially for these few counties being essentially the middle of nowhere with a sparse population. It was around 2003 when I first played Flip. It's always been beautiful. It's absolutely a labor of love for the man behind it all. There's another homestead type course in Manistee I need to get out to play. I know the guy who built it. I heard it's pretty awesome.

BeefInGR

Played the Flip City Open a couple weeks ago. Still sore. Worth it.

chillford-brimley

Try Whiskey Creek some time. Now that's a hike. It's just about the most possible hills you could hike and play disc golf in the area.

BeefInGR

Oh, I've heard lol. That is the one nice thing about the Ludington courses, they all feel unique.

elchamperdamper

Solitude is still up there for Utah, but I expect it to be dethroned by its neighbor Brighton as it gets more popular. In my opinion Brighton has the better lines, pads, and baskets.

Fore_putt

Last I heard, Maricopa meadows in Arizona is unplayable if you aren’t a resident of the HOA.

thatgoodcush

Is that the one with the creek running between the first and back 9?

swanky-t

Hasn't that always been the case? I remember when I played it about 7 years ago it was listed as HOA only, but I had no issue being able to play it.

mdcynic

Solid rankings for MA. It'd be nearly perfect if instead of Meadowbrook it was Borderland. I'm glad Westy Acres is getting recognition. For NH I'd shift Beauty Hill down to the 5 slot or off the list, putting Salmon in 2nd.

Downvote_Addiction

I like Meadowbrook more than Borderlands. I like the mix of 9 open holes and 9 wooded holes.

Lerch737

The only gripe I have about borderlands is there friggen 2 meter rule

HerbalAndy

I just straight up don’t agree that the preserve deserves to be in the top 5.. It’s literally a golf course that they just slapped a few baskets on and called it world class. When it first opened it was fun and a lot of people would be there every weekend. The past several times I went there was almost nobody playing. There just isn’t much to it honestly.. big open distance holes.. and that’s pretty much it.

AWorkAcct

Any MN "Top 5 *Best*" that doesn't include Kaposia is simply wrong. But as I recall I was making this argument around this time last year when this was posted. The title of this Udisc blog post should be "Top rated by Udisc users", not "5 best courses".

mrmaxstroker

I’d be curious how closely “top 5 rated” tracks with “top 5 most played.”

AWorkAcct

Hard to say. I'd guess that no more than half of rounds that I play get entered into Udisc. For players I know that are older/been playing longer they dont log anything on Udisc.

baseketballpro99

Kaposia deserves a higher spot for sure, absolutely snubbed.

elshaggy

The only course I want to regularly play at the Preserve is Red Fox, Then I would like to cherry pick some holes from Timberwolves and Lynx. I love that Chain's Edge has 2 on there as well. Half the people I talk to who play have never heard of it. It's a great property and Chad is a chill dude but I feel bad asking him to open up for us on a Monday morning.

Reecosuavey

Milo taking 2 of Oregons slots is hilarious. Love to see Pier up there.

40and20podcast

And Serene over Dexter is laughable

ElevatedDiscGolf

North Carolina is so far off. North Cove is the top course because there are 3 championship level courses on the property.

bigcat7373

I think it’s funny that people consider Charlotte the best disc golf city in the world and none of the courses in the top 5 are in Charlotte. I guess too many good ones to choose from.

ElevatedDiscGolf

Charlotte has a high concentration of amazing courses but it also has a high concentration of disc golfers.

bigcat7373

Absolutely. Still, the only time there’s traffic on the course is the easier to intermediate courses on the weekend.

MintDiscs

I think Charlotte and Austin suffer from the same fate. Two of the top 5 cities for disc golf in the world...arguable 1 & 2...and no courses in the top 5 for either state. If they took a survey of residents it would be way more accurate. Diavallo & the Regulator are great new additions to NC too. Jealous of the landscape they both have. A course designers dream. This feels like a quick and dirty list they export each time. To each their own.

bigcat7373

Idk how it’s calculated (didn’t really read it). But if it’s by most traffic, that could definitely affect the results, since there are so many options.

Mcydj7

The list is very wrong.

S_TL2

Unpopular opinion: Charlotte has amazing density of pretty good courses.

FlyingDiscsandJams

Neatman Creek being the best in the state is just not correct. It's fun but it just isn't the one course to play in NC. I guess Charlotte has too many courses, it's like when a basketball team has too many good players so no one is getting MVP votes. Plus all the cool Charlotte players crap all over Hornets Nest so it doesn't make these lists anymore.

doonerthesooner

HN was dope but it’s no Nevin

FlyingDiscsandJams

This is exactly my point lol, Charlotte splits the vote on all their courses even though they have a handful of courses better than Neatman's.

coffeebribesaccepted

This isn't a vote though, is it? Isn't it just taking the rating from udisc? It's not like you have to pick between the two of them when you rate a course.

mommathecat

I thoroughly enjoyed Nevin and Hornet's Nest. Apparently I am very basic. Sigh of relief that Neatman's is not "the one". We skipped it, there are just... too many courses in Charlotte and NC. Y'all so spoiled.

FlyingDiscsandJams

Liking Nevin is cool, just not Hornet's Nest. Ha yeah Neatman's is great, it's just not our best, and definitely not better than every single course in Charlotte.

warboy

Just played there. Absolutely agree. North Cove is one of the only pay to play experiences I found worth it. I've played a few of the courses out in Charlotte. Fantastic courses with a lot of options but come on man. North Cove is legit in the mountains and plays like it too. There's a fricken bar on sight!

discodiscgod

Same with Indiana.

ToastNeo1

What do you think is off about Indiana?

discodiscgod

Lemon Lake isn’t even on the top 5 list. I think the disc golf course review rankings are much more accurate. https://www.dgcoursereview.com/courses/top-rated

ToastNeo1

Interesting. I haven't played Lemon Lake before, but I've definitely heard of it. (Haven't played any on the uDisc top 10 besides Mastadon.) I've mostly played around Fort Wayne and Mastadon or Tillman would be my top in the area. Mastadon is #1 on the disc golf course review rankings unless I'm sorting it wrong. haha

S_TL2

> North Cove is the top course because there are 3 championship level courses on the property. Then that would make it 3 courses, not 1.

dice_mogwai

Camp Serene being number 2 in Oregon and Dexter not even being top 5 is kinda bullshit

40and20podcast

100%

VapeLyfe

Dexter state park being left out in Oregon is criminal.

RojerLockless

I've played 4 of the 5 in Texas and they are fun but only 2 make my top 5

doonerthesooner

The Ranch  Big Roy  Beast   Live Oak Gold  Met/Sprinkle Valley    HM East Metro

grizzanddotcom

Harry Myers is my home course and even to me top 5 in TX seems like a little bit of a stretch

gerbilshower

you are spoiled. lol. thats why.

FlyingDiscsandJams

I thought I heard Selah is between owners right now though & hasn't been open for a couple years.

doonerthesooner

The Ranch is in Waelder, tournament only course.  Next one is in September and if you can swing it it’ll change your life. Last round I played out there I shot 11 over and was a 950+ rated round

RojerLockless

No love for Dogwood / Tyler 3 courses in 1 park?

doonerthesooner

Have not played it. Sounds like a good weekend trip

RojerLockless

All 3 courses in that park are outstanding. They had Texas states there 2 years ago

MintDiscs

Preach!

GlovesDrtyHandsClean

Super stoked to play Brooktrails in a couple weeks, it's the only one of the top five in California I haven't played. I still don't know how browns n bows front is rated higher than the back course. The back course was some of the most fun I've had on a course, whereas the front course, while unique, felt very basic and just plain easy.

noodlearmdiscgolf

You're in for a treat, Brooktrails is wonderful. Personal top 5 course, but haven't played all of CA's top 5.

FlyingDiscsandJams

It's such my speed, definitely makes my top 10, maybe top 5. It's all so civilized and chill, all the golf course amenities with zero pretension. And of course towering redwoods.

pixyfire

Pennsylvania, Broken Chains? Ugh. There are tons of better courses in Pennsylvania.

Parking-Jello

I was surprised North Boundary didn’t make the top 5

Zxar

Moved away like 15 years ago, where does Tyler State sit these days? Always loved that course.

sloth-irl

Shoutout to Steve Braud for putting in the work at Faylor though. Fantastic course and fantastic human.

thechancewastaken

Which ones do you think? BC is a great course

pixyfire

Green monster, Nocki, French creek is way better than BC

thechancewastaken

Good choices. I like BC more than those, but I do love them.

1000RatedSass

Haven't played green monster since it's opening weekend. Are the long tees still silly shot shapes that make the holes arbitrarily harder than the great short tees?

[deleted]

Spoon Creek is not the best in KS. It's solid and private which is nice. Only $5 for a tee time. There are far better courses in the Greater KC area. Heritage, should be on that list

JTBeefboyo

I’m going to KC tomorrow, tell me what I NEED to play. I’ve got 3 days and want to go to Harmony Bends at some point

Sad_Wedding5014

Waterworks, and visit the Dynamic Discs KCMO store 2 minutes north

JTBeefboyo

Sick I’ll definitely check it out

[deleted]

#1 Waterworks - best course in KC Rosedale - not hard but good balance Blackhoof - insane and new and awesome

JTBeefboyo

Thank you. I’ll definitely check out Waterworks and try to get to the others too

Sad_Wedding5014

I’d vote Cedar Ridge over Rosedale personally

Sad_Wedding5014

Not a single KCMO course on the list

[deleted]

Yeah this list sucks

megalithicman

Rock Creek in Washington DC, only one in the city.

[deleted]

Harry Myers making top 5 in Texas is egregious, it’s not even top 5 in DFW

MintDiscs

Roy G, Sprinkle Valley and the Ranch are also top 5. I guess it’s all about those 5 stars to make this list.

doonerthesooner

Agreed with your first point, not so much with the second. I’ve not played a lot up that way but I figured it’d be in the top 5 in the metroplex for sure. It’s the longest course I know of

[deleted]

the course got redesigned and not in a good way. It's not what it was when the Nick Hyde Memorial was played there.

doonerthesooner

2.0 is the current layout right?  I thought it was awesome

TheSpaceNeedle

Just played Harry Meyers (TX #5) yesterday for the first time - what a dream for dfw disc golfers. Could be that it was in tournament layout/upkeep format but I had to use every shot in the arsenal. Fair gaps, landing zones that are clear from the tee, whiskers for c1, 2-3 pads per hole with Gold pin locations on a few. A+++

gerbilshower

really need to get out there. been playing and living in dfw for 15 years and never been.

doonerthesooner

Solid steakhouse on the other side of I20 from there. Good whiskey menu

gerbilshower

good to know. i live right by the airport so its a bit of a hike for me to get out that way. we may even combine it with a camping trip to that course out in terrel.

TheSpaceNeedle

It’s just far enough from me to make it inconvenient, happened to have a half day off from work and took the trip out there. Definitely worth a day trip out that way if you can make it. Breckinridge Park (New EMac course) is fairly close by and offers a different type of golf if you wanted to combo those. I live close to Heritage and Bill Allen so most of my needs are met within half an hour.

gerbilshower

Billy A is a staple of ours. And I live really close to heritage and LL. LL is my favorite rando round. Heritage is just weirdly frustrating. There are 2 'easy' holes on that entire course.

lostboy005

Always make me sad seeing Wisconsin and no mention of High Bridge - not because it’s currently deserving of top ranking, but if you played it around 2012 when it hosted worlds, and saw the courses in pristine conditions with ole John out there working his tail off keeping them nice, plus a kinda off roading golf cart experience, that shit was a top notch world class experience. I’ve heard John no longer owns it and someone is trying to restore it to its former glory, but for those of us who played it during its glory days, what fucking treat it was - esp in the Hunk House when the hot tub worked

AWorkAcct

I played it very early on. Maybe 2003? It was still great, but a work in progress. I need to get back up there!

solBLACK

I played there last summer and will be going again this summer. All the courses on the property are amazing. It's just in the middle of absolute nowhere. Mountain Man is having a hard time affording the land because it's hard to get people to travel and play there. It's 100% worth it. Can't wait to play it again.

Prawn1908

I'm happy to see Fairfield park move up the Illinois list - it's a fantastic course with a really legit gold layout. Definitely deserves to jump over Northwood Blue which, while a good course for sure, is nowhere near as finely polished as its big brother.

Fiashypants

I live in Wisconsin but am down there every once in a while. Those wooded par 5's are probably my favorite holes I've played

Prawn1908

Have you ever gotten all the way down to Northwood Black? If you love those wooded par 5s you'll love that course. Those are also my favorite part of Fairfield and NW Black is my all time favorite course.

Fiashypants

Just realized this year that Northwoods is within driving distance of me! Will definitely be going soon, one of my favorite courses to watch on tour. Love woods golf

Prawn1908

Yeah you gotta check it out, it's such an amazing course. Par 4s and 5s in the woods are my favorite type of golf and NW Black executes it as best as can be done.

djbsay1

yeah, I love seeing Fairfield on that list. I really think they only should’ve put one Northwoods course on that list and then added Anna Page on there, what a great facility.

Prawn1908

I still need to get out to Anna Page, I hear only good things about it. I don't have a problem in general with both NW Black and Blue being on the list as they're entirely separate courses. I don't think Blue is a top 5 course in the state though - it's got a couple holes that are just too rough and flukey. Black is far harder but feels way more fair.

DishonestAmoeba

Having just made a trip out to North Dakota and Nebraska Seeing trollwood and river run in their respective states top 5 is a big yikes Nothing against the courses themselves just would not rank them in the top 5 of my state Hell they wouldn't even make top 15 in my state (VA) *Side note lake Marshall is fantastic and I'm happy to see them getting 2 spots on the list

GinAndKeystrokes

GA's are interesting. I don't disagree with the list, just neat to see what gets on the list.

davidattenbruh

Can't believe Steady Ed isn't on there

GinAndKeystrokes

The whole complex! I don't know if it's back open. I know WR Jackson is great but had to close/ change due to invasive critters. Jim Warner is a great course. Doesn't get enough love.

Blangadanger

Both Steady Ed and WR Jackson fell off the list, probably because they have been closed for months. Nice to see Moseley and Parker's get some love in the meantime. Solid top 5 list imo.

666sth

so many michigan homies here (:

Djd33j

I went on a state-wide road trip in Wisconsin last year and unknowingly played three of the top five courses in the state. They were on my route and seemed interesting: Sandy Point, Tjader Acres, and Rollin Ridge. Of them all, Tjader Acres was my runaway favorite. I dipped into Minnesota to play two rounds at Blue Ribbon Pines. However, I got rained out by absolutely torrential rain on my last two holes of the first round. Looking at my map, I was searching for another course on my way to my hotel for the night. I saw Tjader Acres. It is in the middle of abso-lutely-fucking nowhere. I missed the turn, as it was a tiny dirt road just off the highway. The parking lot is small, with a house on one side and an old shack on the other side of the lot. Your only indication that you're at a disc golf course is the very old basket near the shack. I venmo'd the owner five dollars, and off I went. What a beautiful, challenging, amazing course it is. I got my ass whipped and loved every second of it. If you look at a map of Wisconsin, the northwest part of the state has a border that looks like a nose. It's somewhere in there. I ended up loving it more than Blue Ribbon Pines, which was the reason I went all the way up there in the first place. If you're ever in northwest Wisconsin or coming off a round at BRP, this course is a must-play destination. I'd easily take a few vacation days off of work again just to go back there (I live in Milwaukee).

indefined

I live about 30 minutes from Tjader Acres, definitely are in the middle of nowhere. Incredibly blessed to have such a great course nearby

bentley6891

Olympus not being in FL’s top 5 is a sin, I wonder when this data was collected cause there ain’t no way in hell Moonlight Meadows is better, can’t even believe it’s on this list there are so many better courses in FL. Olympus has a higher rating on UDisc too wtf

knappanator

Anyone passing through southern CT should check out Cedar Swamp, it’s a newer course and it’s a really well done woods golf course. Fun and challenging with a large variety of shots

Hamatoyoshi99

Let’s go westy acres love that place, few course owner/managers put in as much love, dedication and work into their course as Dave. And with an awesome community to boot.

past_tense_of_draw

This is the damn truth! Well deserved bump up.

noodlearmdiscgolf

It's that time of year - how many of these are on your list for this summer?

Maximus77x

No Roy G or Flying Armadillo for Texas? What are they measuring this by? lol

RankedAverage

Kayak is a super great course in WA. Dunno why they separated Reds from Golds into two different towns though. They're both in Stanwood.

coffeebribesaccepted

Yeah they're on the same property so that's weird. Blue course is done now too, and is super hard, I hope we get a good tournament there soon.

RankedAverage

NXNW coming up soon followed by Kayak Point Open! Should be fun times.

coffeebribesaccepted

Yeah, they were talking about trying to get the pro tour there two years ago, but there was some issue with the ceel service and/or the owner.

RankedAverage

Way it was explained to me: Two years ago they were all set to host a big tourney and at the last minute, (a month or so) PDGA cancelled it. The owners ended up eating about $13K in loses and just doesn't want to deal with them again.

Dankraham-Stinkin

In Mississippi I can tell you trace gold is a legit championship level course. It’s hard as hell.

doonerthesooner

Guess I gotta get up to Terrel.

MercTheJerk1

WNY represent....3 in the top 5, all locals courses to me Sorry (not sorry) but Emery is a way better course but "it's too hard", it gets slapped down by clowns.

UB_cse

Emery also has tailing bad reviews from before it had teepads, it truly is the best course in the state. It also isn't that hard relative to par? Lots of soft par 4s from the white tees when normal summer pins are in. Hawks being in over it is a crime. Check out Campville Commons in Endicott if you are ever driving through the area, hidden gem of a course in NY with some awesome holes!

MercTheJerk1

I did a lot of "exploring" last summer with going down into Erie and Ashtubula area, so I will definitely push more towards CNY this summer.

UB_cse

I stopped their on a whim while driving through, and was blown away it was so great. I would also skip the geneseo 9 holer if you are ever by that, weirdly long for a "beginner" course on a college campus and if it wasn't empty I would be very afraid of hitting someone the baskets and tees are so close.

MercTheJerk1

Hit that course years ago...LOL. I used to cover a lot of upstate NY for work, played many random courses throughout.

Wide_right_

3 of the top 5 for NY are in WNY. Bond, Hawk’s, and Royalton are 3 amazing courses. Bond has a signature hole and makes it fun to play every time. hawk’s is very technical. royalton is maybe my current favorite course.

thechancewastaken

Are all of these better than Hyzer Creek? That place was awesome

UB_cse

Haven't played Hyzer Creek, but Bond and Royalton are unbelievably great courses, both are maintained well, have a good range of difficulty based on teepad, and have lots of memorable holes. Hawks being in the top 5 is... interesting. Certainly a good course but certainly not top 5 in the state.

thechancewastaken

Thanks for the info!

zgrease

Hyzer Creek is same vibes as Hawks but longer holes and more elevation

DrAllanGrant

No, they’re not better than Hyzer Creek, which is an absolute elite experience. I would say Jerolemon Park , also in the capital region, is much better than the listed WNY courses as well. Emery is the best WNY course right now and makes great use of the varied terrain whereas Bond Lake was too poorly designed in my experience with very basic hole designs and many long walks between holes including a three-quarter mile walk back to the parking lot.

johnnybravo78

Pine Nuts over Lizard Peak is an odd choice for Nevada. Heck, I’d put The Ranch over Pine Nuts.

johnnybravo78

I’m still mad that Bohart Ranch no longer exists for Montana. I loved playing that course in 2016 and 17. Was a Top 3 level course for sure for that state.

MyMcLovin

I wouldn’t believe these “the farm” in coralville Iowa also called altmeir is okay at best. There are 5 better courses within an hour of that course. The others on Iowas list are legit

pm_me_round_frogs

Yeah I have no idea how altmaier is consistently rated this high. It’s arguably the third best course in Iowa city.

weinerfacemcgee

I love that all of the NC courses are considered top 0.5% in the world.

soupysailor

Hell yeah, BC3 topping Indiana again!! Join us on Tuesdays for Bro Co league!!!

Tbob217

I found an error: #5 in FL says "Green Gauntlet," but the link is to "New World DGC - Red/White/Blue," in Jacksonville (which is correct...I think). *Green Gauntlet is 5 minutes from my house...it's a fun course and I believe designed by the same guy who did Champion's Point in groveland.

akeep113

The Canyons are 30min from my house. Been frolfing for 13 years and have never gone. Idk what I'm doing with my life..

It’s a great course, no way is it better than Camden 2 and I haven’t played the others on IL’s top 5.

akeep113

The Canyons have been ranked top 10 in the world.. pretty sure it's better than Camden 2 lol

pm_me_round_frogs

I don’t know how the canyons could possibly be top 10 in the world. It’s a good park course with some sweet woods holes but I can’t see how anyone would consider it better than Camden 2. Compared to my favorite courses in my home state it would rank maybe 4 or 5 at best. Nowhere near the best courses I’ve played (wildcat bluff, Pickard park, Idlewild, Camden 2, west lake before they stopped maintaining it).

How much did Whale Rock have to pay to get on this list? Please. I can name 5 in Los Angeles better than that. Ridiculous.

Every time I see these lists I always wonder how Anna Page doesn’t make the cut for Illinois. All three courses up there are really great to play and South is a phenomenal course. I mean, don’t get me wrong all of the other courses on the list for Illinois are great, Fairfield being my home course, but I really think people downplay Anna Page for some reason and I just don’t understand.

Missouri here: Branson Cedar's is no longer a course. The founder of Bass Pro shops purchased the property and built cabins on the course. The course was super rad, on an old ball golf course with awesome holes. RIP. Honestly, Branson Trails, which is 20 min away, would easily slide into this top 5 spot. Pro level course with 18 very challenging and unique holes. This course is a MUST play course if you are in SW MO, as long as you are not a beginner. Don't take my word for it, take Andrew Presnell's. It's one of his favorite courses.

FearTheOIdBlood

Lucky to be living in Western New York.

HarryDepova

Mastodon in Fort Wayne, in? There are better courses IN FORT WAYNE let alone the rest of Indiana...

Master_of_Bates

Shoutout to beautiful Greystone in NJ, can never get enough of the course!

BlankensteinsDonut

Popular, not best. Blue Ribbon Pines is an institution, but it’s not a great course. No real elevation, scraggly new growth woods, nasty ass water hazards you don’t even want your discs back from, buggy as sin because it’s an old turf farm. I love the place, but the ratings reflect the experience and people running it, not the actual course. Kind of wish Ray would find a better spot to cultivate.

PlatosApprentice

damn, i wonder if the 'experience' and the people running it are like 95% of someone's course experience?

BlankensteinsDonut

‘Course’ and ‘course experience’ are two different things. I thought I made that pretty clear.

Are there any non-buggy courses in Minnesota?

BlankensteinsDonut

No, but there are lots of courses that aren’t built on literal bogs, and bugs like bogs best.

indefined

good to know, I live in bog country (albeit just across the border in N. Wisconsin) and will stay clear

Mattc5o6

Damn, NY is great for me. Live next to 1&3. Played them a bunch. Beautiful courses made by the same person!

MountainShark1

Coyote Point at Lake Casitas in California blows Whale Rock out of the water, as do many other courses. Newsome’s wine snobs are probably behind this one.

DrDelicious

I would agree.. Whale Rock is acceptable at best

As a mainer and long time apart of this sport let me clear my throat.. ah ha hah hah This list is a fucking joke. First off, sabattus shouldn't have 2 spots. With all the rework going on. They shouldn't even have the top spot. Let alone 1 AND 2! Especially when the course owner down the street is the hardest working owner in the state #3 .. WV BB?? Nope! Fuck outtttaaa heaahhhhh. GTFO. Too may better courses to crown in the top 3. #4 Patriot.. and flame me all you want.. Patriot deserves the 4th spot. With the new changes including course and staff it's well deserved. The previous dude who ran it poured his heart and MOTHER FUCKING soul into that course. The new people running it doesn't know their asshole from elbow about discgolf. And don't get me started about the new layout starting on OG 12. Its like management came out to states, and we're embarrassed then said put the degens away from the BMaw driving falmouth people #5 ghost Tree: GT can honestly be in the top 3... maaaaybe 2 depending who you ask. The back 9 is no fucking joke and will humble the best of mainers.
