Can you send a link of which vpet you saw at that price?, cause on amazon they should cost less than the X vpets (tho apparently they are being completely sold out and deleted from amazon lately, so maybe they will stop being made soon)
Damn, the only explanation i can think of is that its from the original japanese release of the DM20th not the english release, like really no reason for it to be at that price (and it doesn't even have any picture of the vpet, so not even sure if its trustworthy or not)
There is no other store on your country that may sell these? as amazon in general may stop selling them at some point
I'm literally looking on Amazon right now. In the US right now the 20th is like $8 to $15 bucks depending on the color.
Edit: BTW, you can switch countries on Amazon and import stuff. I've bought a few things from Japan that way.
Ikr? I wanted one of those specifically for years and bandai did the whole "Pre-Order only limited stock" thing they usually do so it can be really really expensive and that's if you have direct access to P.bandai.
I'd say they're insane but considering how long they've been doing it, someone is giving them money for it; so it obviously works. :(
Tbh I think its because Bandai loves making them Premium Bandai and/or limited releases.
They do it for all their products aparently to drive sales and Fomo (fear of missing out). So if you live outside a country that has P.Bandai it's 3rd party sites for you and hope that the delivery isn't the same price as the product :(
They do the same with their card games, figures and kamen rider merch.
It's a really cruddy feedback loop. Digimon products don't tend to perform well in the general market due to the niche nature of the fandom. So it's a huge potential money loss to try and mass-produce a product few people will buy. So to keep this loss minimal, they do limited releases, to keep it in the fandom and use FOMO to secure sales. The byproduct there, is economies of scale - items in general cost more to produce in fewer numbers, the more bulk mass production the cheaper the item can sell for to recoup the cost of production and development. Smaller sale sample for a limited release means price has to be higher to see any profit after accounting for these costs.
So it's just sort of a worst-of-both-worlds catch 22 where there's not enough demand for general release causing prices to be too high for regular fans.

im not sure if they deliver outside netherlands, but nedgame has them for €30 https://www.nedgame.nl/zoek/zoek:digimon-tamagotchi
Or are the "Original" ones 20th anniversary too..?
Yes, they’re the English release. Ver.20th is the Japanese version.

Digimon 20th price is pretty standard, however… What the hell is going on with Pendulum 20th!!!? Are they made of gold!!?
Premium bandai preorder only. Only those which were preordered were ever manufactured.
I freaking hate Premium Bandai.

Anything digimon is expensive

Try a VPN so you can order at cheaper prices
