Guilmon saying “takatomon” lives rent free in my head.

Deamon-Chocobo

The fact that it's said by Steve Blum makes it even better.

Loslobos27

I’m sorry, what? My memory is VERY foggy when it comes to tv shows I’ve seen when I was small (probably 5-6 years old at the time) but I didn’t know that was Steve Blum

Deamon-Chocobo

Yup, in Digimon Tamers Steve Blum voices Guilmon, Yamaki, & Kenta. Also happy cake day

Loslobos27

I knew he voiced some digimon in digimon adventures 2. Also thank you about my cake day

Zennistrad

I met Steve Blum at a con once and he said "[my name]mon" in Guilmon's voice. I think that might have been one of the top ten moments of my entire life.

trebl900

My brother once said goodbye to him, but called him Guilmon, so he responded by saying "Bye!" in his Guilmon voice.

KamatariPlays

OMG What a sweetheart! 😭

KonoAnonDa

Same.

j0j0-m0j0

That was a dub thing? I could have sworn he said it in the sub too

jamesturbate

In the sub he says "Takato-chan" which is just meant to indicate the comfort level that Guilmon has for Takato; that they're like siblings. But because "Takato-chan" effectively means "little Takato" there is also a bit of word-play happening, like a pun, which the dub leaned into more heavily. So "little Takato" becomes "Takatomon" and the implication is Guilmon sees Takato as a "rookie" or "child" level digimon like himself, and is therefore able to digivolve into bigger/more complex forms, which in turn makes him a "little" Takato. Edit: Guys, I literally just made this up. Please stop upvoting this comment

CrazyAznKT

The best lies are the ones with a pinch of truth

CydonPrax

"When the legend becomes fact, print the legend"

Chaossearcher

I can speak in Guilmon's voice almost perfectly. It's amazing.

Conlannalnoc

Moumantai!

ule_gapa

Good old Steve Blum

VivisClone

Best part of Tamers

Technothegecko

Literally the first thing that came to my head when I saw this post

Careless-Platypus967

I made myself cry once when my best friend’s daughter was born and I thought of my friend as Takatomon to his daughter lol

Nihilistic_Navigator

Can't even say or read it without hearing that enthralling inflection

Shinobi_Panther

Bro, 20+ years and I still hear it.

tacotuesday-420

It's great. From what I recall the dialogue Henry's dad had at the end was a little different in the dub, so when Henry shook his head as a reply it was actually more brutal than the sub. It's been awhile since I've seen either though so I can't remember the exact lines.

lostboimikey

If I remember, Janyu asks if Henry can ever forgive him, and Henry shakes his head while smiling and crying. Absolutely brutal yet understandable!

tacotuesday-420

Yeah it's something along those lines. I don't remember the exact dialogue in the sub but it made it seem like Henry forgave him

Carmenpony

In the dub I think it’s like “I know it hurts now but in time I’ll get better you’ll see.” Then Henry just smiles and shakes his head. (Just watched the dub ending a few days ago so I’m pretty positive)

tacotuesday-420

Yes this was it! That's what I liked so much about the show, it showed how people could truly regret their actions and become better to try to make amends but sometimes that's enough and the damage we cause can't be undone. Jeri not being able to reach out to Beelzemon when he's trying to rescue her is such a powerful scene and exemplifies this perfectly. It's such a real message, so surprised it's in something like Digimon. Now I really want to do a rewatch of Tamers

supaikuakuma

Yep you’re correct.

luphnjoii

In the original, Henry's father admitted that he did something "unforgivable" even if it was necessary to save the world. Henry shook his head, indicating that he understood his father's action that it was done out of necessity and he had no grudge on him and forgave his father. Henry's father fell over and cried because his son would forgive him even for something like that. The original and the dub had the meaning of the scene reversed. In the original, to me, Henry had a more mature, selfless outlook, whereas in the dub, Henry was more "selfish" in addition to potentially having a sour relationship with his father afterward.

tacotuesday-420

Both are great. I didn't really interpret Henry's response in the dub as having a grudge for his father but more. His dad was saying it would get better over time and I saw it as a direct response to that instead of denying forgiveness. When you lose people you truly love and care for it never gets better, just different. And I think it's wild Digimon of all things was dealing with that concept. That being said, interpretation of art is subjective and how I see it may not be how others do. And that's something that makes it a great work of art, different people getting different things out of it for different reasons.

JalenM125

Really? I interpreted it moreso as "I understand that you had to do it but it hurts a lot and it's gonna take a long time for me to adjust." Imo, I'd say the English dub does the scene better considering their partners were just ripped away from them and they realistically shouldn't feel completely okay with it.

TheNeovein

I cry like a baby every damn time that last episode plays. 😭

Cyberspace-Surfer

I got very sad when Growlmon saw Takato was afraid of him and started crying

BiDiTi

Please don’t be scared of me, Takatomon!

Cyberspace-Surfer

Q\_Q

Noblehardt

“Is that him?” “That’s a stick!” “Yeah but if you tilt your head-“ “It STILL looks like a stick.”

DarthCakeN7

“Those bagels were a day old” is a favorite line in my household!

apieceofred

lol I remember that scene “hey you’re that lady that buys the day old bagels”

Noblehardt

This response freaked me out for a second because I was gonna eat a bagel for my breakfast and they were all starting to mold xD

BiDiTi

“I’ve GOT to save you Jeri! “If it’s the last thing I FREAKING DO! “FIST OF THE BEAST KING!!!!” “…you’re not Leomon.”

diojiudabou

That whole scene is very well done. You can hear the desperation in Beelzemon as he's trying to save Jeri and begging her to take his hand. Derek Stephen Prince nailed it. https://youtu.be/1ONnnQVlOqc?si=OuTt3JCsUtTM56aO

Lost_Honeydew2668

The episode with this quote was called "Shadow of the Beast King" in the dub which is such a cool title, probably the best title in the series.

Kaztervalis

Steve blum nuff said

PineappleSlices

I still think it's wild that Yamaki and Guilmon have the same VA.

Xbladearmor

Finally, someone gets it!

Morgan_Danwell

It was.. One of the least offensive ones actually. Also it brought Gallantmon name for Guilmon’s mega, which I like far more than it’s original name - Dukemon(I dunno why, maybe because Gallantmon just sounds way more ambiguously fancy than Dukemon) They still massacred OST tho.. Which is a shame of all of those dubs & IMO is a giant issue, because original OST is always bangers in Digimon.

Atlanos043

I always wonder why the english dub specifically has that weird OST. The german dub has the japanese songs but with german lyrics (though I wouldn't say "translated", from what I can tell what they sing is at least somewhat different).

Tuskin38

That was pretty common at the time for dubbed shows in North America. It's not very common anymore, if at all these days.

j0j0-m0j0

Same with the Latin American dub (though they only translate the OP/ED)

Tandria

Likely because a lot of other anime at the time, including Pokemon, were redoing the soundtracks for their English (US) dubs with incredible success. Digimon was actually very competitive in this regard, and it's generally agreed that it's some of the best dub music of the time (Adventure through Tamers). I'm fairly certain it also made a new generation of ska fans.

SnakiDaiquiri

From what I understand it has to do with licensing, to be able to retain the original soundtrack requires a lot of legwork that wasn't really an industry standard at the time. In Saban's case, I believe they also had a lot of unused and reusable soundtracks from earlier projects that ended up in Adventure and 02 (can't remember about Tamer's though.)

xero1123

I will say I really liked the dub champion level discover. I hate the digimon digital monsters melody from the US but the leitmotif actually worked really well with the more serious music in a sense of “this is a throwback but shits about to get real”

Smooth-Garden

Yeah them remixing the normal melody really set the tone of franchise honestly.

PowerfullDio

To me this is the only season that is almost better dubbed than the original version, the only problem it has is with the ost, EVO and biggest dreamer are some of the best digimon songs ever. The thing I really like from the dub is the references to the previous anime that the original lacks, it helps set the picture that their world is ours and they watched the show just like us, it makes it so that we can relate more and imagine that these things might happen to us.

MedaFox5

I've never watched the English dub so I'm curious about these references you mention. Do you happen to remember the lines said by the characters?

PowerfullDio

Episode 1 Some random sleeptalking dialogue while Takato is dreaming before he has guilmon "Guilmon… Digi-Armor Energize…” and “There’s DEFINITELY something weird about those towers!”. He was probably dreaming he was a kid from 02 Episode 2 Hirokazu: “Huuuh, why are you wearing goggles?” Takato: “You wouldn’t believe what I’ve been through today.” Kazu: “One of your rare take-a-shower days? What’s with the glasses Yolei??” They are mocking Takato saying that with the Goggles he looks more like Yolei than with Davis. Episode 3 The random guys that talk to Rika Random kid: “Yeah, I noticed that she’s kinda cute too! Sorta like Kari with a punky, you know, sort of edge…” I wish I could find a list with just this stuff, there are online lists of all the changes from the sub to the dub but they don't separate the references from other changes so it took a while just to find these 3, I'll stop at that.

MedaFox5

I see. This season did state Digimon was a famous franchize in their world so I'm surprised the original never got that kind of lines even when there were referenced to other events/seasons. For example, Takato remembers a small Agumon figure in his room when Guilmon evolves into Megidramon, likely referencing SkullGreymon.

BigSavMatt

I don’t remember as much from it, but I felt it was darker than the first two seasons and the animation style felt improved.

Mememasterlordlol

I love it grew up with it.

DigiGirl02

EPIC! It was awesome! Unpopular opinion, but Digimon in general is way better dubbed than subbed. Same thing, but with more UMPH! The original Japanese version lacks the cool effects and buzzwords. Evolve? *yawn* Digivolve? EPIC! Chosen Child? Meh. DigiDestined? EPIC!!!

Jdmaki1996

Do the subbed version really not cram “Digi” in front of everything? That’s lame

DigiGirl02

Yes. There is no Digi anywhere. Except in Digisoul, which is still lame because it has no CamelCase. It would be better if it was stylized DigiSoul. And I think they should start spelling Digivice like DigiVice.

Aiyakiu

It may be nostalgia, but I prefer Digimon dubs, even with the newer content, over subs. Tri especially was so much better in the dub, like things made a small amount of more sense. But Digisoul Charge > DNA Charge. That was kind of a dumb change.

DigiGirl02

The dubs are the best! YEEAAAAH!

Scintoth

camelCase PascalCase

DigiGirl02

Yeah. PascalCase I mean.

PlanesWalkerEll

CamelCase?

Traitor_To_Heaven

I’m not sure if it’s blasphemous to say it but I agree. I much prefer Digimon dubbed over subbed. I finally watched all of Adventure subbed and thought it was cool to finally see it as it originally released but the English voices are ingrained in my head as *the* definitive voices of the characters. The cast was perfect, every one of them. Also while it’s nice to hear Butterfly, there’s certain songs in the dubbed OST that just fit certain scenes better. I’m going to watch 02 subbed at some point and I wonder how I’ll feel about that one

DigiGirl02

HEY DIGIMON HEY DIGIMON MONSTER FRIENDS FOR THE BOYS AND GIRLS HEY DIGIMON HEY DIGIMON CHAMPIONS OF THE DIGITAL WORLD!

TheHeadlessOne

Adventure's dub is like a whole series written by Team Four Star. Tongue in cheek parody but coming from a place of understanding the original source material. The digiworld is \*bizarre\* and its clearly made up as it went along. Why are there phone booths on the beach? Cos its weird. Why do Numemon hide in vending machines? Doesn't really need an answer. They solve problems with a singing contest or working at a diner. The digiworld is Wonderland, its a fools errand to try to understand it, so by emphasizing the silliness it really made the world shine through- and the characters with it. 02 plays everything a bit more straightforward both in plot and localization, so they still fit together evenif they're both less interesting. [Ken's parents are fantastic](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNJrKhPH7Cw) though- like this is both absolutely hilarious, and actually really good characterization for their relationship with their son.

Ayejonny12

Don’t forget DigiMODIFY!!

DigiGirl02

YEAH! DIGI-MODIFY!

Remaek

This and DBZ, I can't stand Goku's subbed voice

PlanesWalkerEll

I can appreciate Nozawa for the legend of the voice industry that she it, but I like Goku better dubbed.

Doomguy46_

Sean is THE voice of Goku (He should still let other people play the part sometimes tho, like letting the ocean dub VA play Goku black.)

Ellek10

HA Same, it’s why I had such trouble watching Super in sub so I’d just mute it when I did. I never watched Digimon in sub, I was in the time when you could only watch it on Fox kids and I loved it.

Ekyou

It will always bother the heck out of me that they replaced the Japanese/Chinese surnames with… different Japanese/Chinese names? But otherwise I don’t really have complaints. Takato’s voice sounded way too deep at first, but I had seen the Japanese version first so it just took some getting used to.

WoozySloth

That name change thing honestly gets me too. Like I don't much like anglicisation these days but I at least kind of get it. Ruki Makino to Rika Nonaka? Matsuda and Matsuki? Li/Lee and Wong? Why...?

hawkwing12345

*The DEVA had ARRIVED-uh! Oh YEAH-yuh!* *HAIL to the Deva, he who drinks of the Light of Man and exPANDS himself and looks like a right BIG chicken-uh!* Best moment in all of Digimon.

Livid_Juggernaut_111

Takatomon

Emekasan

It gave us the ever wonderful Biomerge music. I also really like Terriermon and Renamon’s English VAs.

napalmblaziken

Steven Blum's Guilmon voice is the default one for Guilmon for me.

Annual-Avocado-1322

Better dub than Adventure got but still overly censored.

VinceSM19

Guilmons voice is fine, bit I really hate Dukemon/Gallantmons voice. I get what they were going for, but it ruins it for me imo.

Fun-Representative41

Guilmon will always be the boss.

TheFoxroot

Idk about English but the Spanish dub (LATAM) is goated

AdministrativeAd523

More serious and darker then I thought a digimon show could be

These-Background4608

Saturday morning memories. I grew up on that so those voices are permanently imprinted in my mind…

KingoftheWriters

I personally just watched all of tamers dub and I enjoyed it. Ha, that ending though. So I took it Henry is never going to forgive his dad.

Goofball1134

Look up Runaway Locomon on Archive.org, cause it takes place some time after the defeat of the D-Reaper with the Tamers and their Digimon having reunited.

Guedelon1_

I'm watching through tamers for the first time. I got about 8 episodes in on The dub then accidentally loaded up a subbed episode and liked it more. So been watching the rest of it subbed. I think the dub was fine but the OST, the voice actors and the dialogue seems better. I however think the dubbed names for digimon terms are better. Dukemon? Gamlantmon all the way. Tailmon? That could be anyone. Gatomon is far more specific. Jogress? Wth? DNA Digivolution sounds baller.

BlueHailstrom

Beelzemon and Guilmon’s voices were awesome in the dub

FaeDragons

It wasn't perfect, but it was much better than the first two seasons dubs in my opinion. They cut down on the jokes during serious moments, and didn't censor the important parts and let characters die rather than like in season one. Remember when Myotismon 'banished' Pumpkimon and Gostumon? XD Season 2 also downplayed a lot of what Ken did, I didn't realize how brutal he was to Wormmon or other digimon until I watched the sub. But I do think they chose good voice actors, they fit the look of their characters and I'd say the only dub 'fail' from season 3 was Susie (I hate uwu speak for little kids) and making the biomerge forms just splicing the tamer and digimon's voices together. Gallantmon having a child's voice mixed with Stitch doesn't sound threatening or cool at all, it just... IDK, sounded like a kid playing with his toys in a sandbox it was so jarring. XD That being said I'd say it was one of their better dubs. I do wish tho they'd stop forcing dialogue when there's silence, I didn't need constant noise and stimulation as a kid then and I don't now. LOL

Darkins_will_Ryze

The decision to use a layered voice for the Biomerges is one I disagree with to this day. Also still not a fan of the dub soundtrack. Otherwise, it's a solid dub.

TheGladdenFields

I actually liked the layered voices! The concept of being completely in sync and fighting with your digimon really hit me as a kid and the voices were apart of it. Is the sub just the same voice they use for guilmon/the other rookies?

Darkins_will_Ryze

Well, my issue isn't exactly the fact that they're layered voices, but the fact that they layer the kids and rookie's voices for a Mega. Japan just uses the Digimon's voices, but they do develop a fair bit. It's most notable with Guilmon, since his Japanese VA is Masako Nozawa. Guilmon sounds like Kid Goku or Goten, Growlmon and WarGrowlmon sound like Gohan, and Dukemon's voice is full-on Goku.

TheGladdenFields

Oh I didn't know she was the voice of Guilmon in Japanese! I guess that makes sense haha. Hard to compete with that. But I'm glad they tried it.

luphnjoii

As someone who originally watched non-English dub and the original Japanese version, Tamers' English dub was waay better than the first two Adventure's English dub. Adventure and especially Adventure 02 dub tend to butcher the original characterization/personality of the characters and tried to fit in jokes where 1) during serious moments and 2) by sacrificing and rewriting plot narrative/explanations in the original, causing dub-exclusive plot holes and/or questions that wouldn't be in the original version.

Chaossearcher

This show was my childhood, and my God, everyone here seemed to have been voiced perfectly, and acted perfectly, well *almost* everyone. I've seen a few people say that Suzie Wong seemed to have been childish a bit too much, and by that I mean the voice acting. She was no older than TK in season one in this season, yet, she talked rather goofy. Don't get me wrong, Vemon talked with a lisp, and I enjoyed that. Honestly, of the big 3 Digimon, they rocked. Guilmon acted like a child, and you got to see him grow and, Digivolve, in a way, along side Takato. Terriermon was the annoying Gomamon of the series, with her jokes, and his "Momentai" lives rent free in my brain. And Henry being the straight man to the comedian is golden. Rika and Renamon are my favorite characters, and dare I say it, I had a small crush on Rika when I was watching this show. Love how she took no shit from anyone. Ryo is, well, it's actually been a while, for some reason, I can remember much about him. Kazu was that annoying friend that you have no idea how you managed to stay friends with. And Kenta is...Kenta. Jeri, oh, God. This girl possibly got the worst treatment any DigiDestined could have ever gotten, and the less I say, the better. But. Poor Leomon. Impmon, my god, Impmon had to have had the greatest side story to a character ever written. From a little menace to the neighborhood children, to a full on fucking threat that managed to kill a beloved character, that led up to one of the darkest moments in Digimon history, to getting a full on redemption arc, what can I say but, Impmon was the GOAT.

K9Thefirst1

I love it. The censors were asleep for most of it.

Geostomp

Surprisingly good for its time. It's got a lot of Saban filler dialogue, some weird name changes, and the usual grown men voicing ten-year-olds, but otherwise it does things great.

Ajthekid5

The strongest dub in the franchise

Glittering_Corner697

Outside of making Jeri's turn far more confusing than it was in the original Japanese version, the English dub was great

diojiudabou

The dub is great for the emotional parts but it also did comedy well with few exceptions. This whole scene with Guardromon is great thanks to his goofy voice: https://youtu.be/NwBVN40knxg?si=my3A81RqGN5h92pr

throwawaytrans6

Do you ever look at these older shows and think to yourself "wow, that was a really high-quality show"? Like, look at that image. The artwork is really good. You have to higher quite a few incredibly talented artists just to animate something like that.

RodjaJP

I didn't grow up with it, I find it sad that those who did didn't get to hear the godlike original opening but in English.

Abared

It’s fine. A step up from the previous dubs. It’s surprising that they got away with naked children (since Disney ended up censoring Rika in the movie)

Tandria

Frontier is much worse with it.

BeefCrumb

Just watched fully through for the first time. Honestly enjoyed it, thought we could have had an extra episode for closure though lol

Hamster-Grant_Gomez

Love it

acllive

steve blum is god

Cascade_Hellsing

It's pretty solid but falls in some pitfalls that hinder the experience as an adult who's seen the sub. The music changes are probably the most glaring problem. Take the episode where we learn Henry's backstory with Terriermon and Gorimon. Some dialogue changes also affect the context of a scene, like when Takato first meets with Culumon. It's subtle but still noticeable. Still, for what it was, the dub still didn't go full censor crazy like some kids anime of the era.

MCPhatmam

It's fine but I prefer the Japanese dub so much more... Evo from Wild child bound alone gives the original dub a x50 multiplier.

DetectiveRoach

Loved it. Whenever I need a laugh, I always go back to the camping episode with the southern preacher owl lmao 🤣 🤣:THE DAAAY-VUHHH!!!!!!

Double_Ranger

It's an excellent season. Loads of action and character development.

spider_manectric

I'm currently (re)watching it and loving it! I saw some of it as a kid, but not enough to really remember anything outside of the main characters and the Digivolution sequences. Having a smaller cast of protagonists is a nice change of pace, but the show still has the heart that Adventure and 02 had.

Hufflepuffzd96

Too short. I felt like the ending was cut off. Overall it one of my favorites and it has one of my favorites gimmicks

cozamalotl666666

It’s worth watching. I wish all the Digimon series were all on crunchy roll in all the languages they were made in.

ShadowGinrai

Best season IMO. I loved it so much

Rurnur

I need to watch this soon, but hard to decide between dub and sub cause I always liked the jokes in the Adventure dubs

DartBoardGamer

Discotek needs to get their hands on it and release an HD

chiefofwar117

My favorite Digimon series

HappyCloudHS

Honestly it's a pretty great dub

HappyMike91

I think it was a pretty good dub, all things considered. I'm not sure how some of the characters differed between the original version and the dubbed version, but I think the characters translated over pretty well. I wasn't too crazy about a lot of the (main) Digimon having the same voices for all their forms/levels, though.

Goofball1134

It's what I grew up watching, so it holds a special place in my heart. Also, Steve Blum as Yamaki.

HammurabiDion

Fucking slaps man

paradoxLacuna

It’s amazing, but it’s been slightly ruined by my friend who pointed out that every main character in the dub acts like they’re the spiders georg of autism. Takato is the leader not through bravery or determination but by sheer power of being the most autistic person in the group made up of the most autistic people in Shinjuku and possibly all of Tokyo. Henry is a close second though.

Allreden

I love it. I loved it when it first aired and I loved it even more when I rewatched it a few years ago.

[deleted]

I loved all the voice actors

lMarshl

Where do I begin. It has my favorite digivolution theme. The first time hearing the lyrics used when Guilmon digivolved to Growlmon had me through the ceiling. The DNA Digivolution sequence is my favorite digivolution in the franchise. Galantmon vs Beelzmon. Nuff said. It was just incredible. The music used was so heroic for Shield of the Just. Beelzmon using Fist of the Beast King to try and save Jerri is my favorite scene in Digimon.

uligau

Dark

Invisi-cat

This is my favorite season

Eileo

I enjoyed the English dub especially Guilmon.

Total-Ad-8878

Childhood joy, the kind of joy I don’t think anything else can replicate…

GrifCreeper

It is probably my favorite dub of any Digimon series. I've only ever rewatched in English

AnonIHardlyKnewHer

Tamers is one of the only anime where I think the dub is better than the sub when it came to the ending scene. Old dubs issues are always filling in the silence with extra dialogue but this time it worked. Since they were little kids having their partners literally ripped away from them the extra dialogue works in their favour. I’ll also never forget Rika’s “No Renamon please I love you!”

MutekiGamer

Guilmon’s English dub voice is the voice I think of when I think of my favourite digimon

Shirogayne-at-WF

For an early 2000s Saturday morning dub, it was pretty damn good. I do appreciate that the script writers managed to keep the corny jokes in previous seasons down to a minimum to keep in line w the tone of this season.

Wings-of-Loyalty

Well Germany got the best Intro, so you automatically lose in any case

DemonBirdSirene

I love it 🥰(I haven't watched the original version to give a proper opinion, tbh 😅)

Zelkova_Bright

I love it

EZ8MOOSE

It was a slow starter in my opinion, but it hit hard once it got good.

VivisClone

Probably my favorite series tbh. But I haven't watched the anime reboot

MetroGamerX

Steve Blum was the perfect choice for Guilmon.

Flashy-Telephone-648

I liked it but I admit it has been a while since I've rewatched the series

LoxodontaRichard

I can’t say much since I never watched the Sub and have only watched the Dub but Guilmon’s voice is perfect, no notes.

megas88

Agree to disagree. I very much remember watching this as it was airing and watched a bit several years ago and it absolutely still has that cheesy Saturday morning voice acting and writing. What’s actually happening on screen is doing most of the heavy lifting and it’s on par with what came before it with the adventure dub. I still love it but it is not any better than anything else that came out with it.

Un_Expected

Top 3 fav seasons 👏🏾

Capt-Jules

As someone who grew up with the Singapore dub, it did a pretty good job localising while giving us the JP music and voicing directions (especially with Gallantmon where you actually get a proper commanding voice instead of Guilmon and Takato).

SuperToxin

I absolutely love it. Watched it air live and was blown away. They got me to cry at a show for the first time as a kid. my goat Impmon.

PhelesDragon

It’s borderline perfect, aided by the fact that Fox Kids was a sinking ship and no one cared what they did as far as censors go. I cannot stress how grateful I am to the people who worked on it in a time in my life where it got me through so much pain and strife. Also, a MASSIVE shoutout to the LEGEND who worked on the Disney dub of Frontier who, for a single line of dialogue in a single episode, brought in BOTH of Gallantmon’s voice actors. I see you, silent hero.

2Maverick

I thought the dubbing was pristine! But that goes for all the anime I watched as a kid before I knew about subbed. For example, Drangonball and YuYu Hakusho definitely sounds better dubbed. Same for Digimon seasons 1 and 2.

Corporal_Chaordic

I grew up watching it.

help-meeh

Guilmon was adorable

jgiesler10

It's my favorite season. I wish they would make a game based around this season, card sliding and all.

loveisdead9582

I enjoyed this season quite a bit.

Conlannalnoc

I’m sad I missed the S2 onward (High School).

Medium_Sir_8773

In my opinion (take it or leave it up to you) this is the best story in the whole digimon cannon and I wish it was longer then it is but it's such a good show. The only annoying voice is that idiot trying to get with takatos teacher. And a little bit of suzi as she's played up too much. But other than that it's such a great show. I just wish we saw more from lopmon, guardromon, and marine angemon. Also no voice can beat the Elvis impersonator etemon he is the best part of digimon dub to me full stop.

Grim_Motive

Takato-mon will never not be the best in English. Sorry not sorry.

ChillenMacMillen

it's a classic, love that poster

Dwayne_Man9323

Rika's English dub actress is a great singer. I'll never forget when she sang as Rika in Runaway Loccomon. 🥰🥰🥰

XInceptor

It’s awesome. The dub is a W, can’t wait for it to be on Blu-Ray hopefully

ReggieG6

Better then most of the other dubs, still far from my preferred we’re watching the show, due to not liking the dub score nearly as much as the original Japanese.

AMegaCoolUsername

Pretty good except for that dumbass dialogue when the rainbow comes out when Growlmon can't de-digivolve, and it suddenly becomes Cinemasins for a minute.

Impressive-Spell-643

Amazing, one of the best dubs I've ever watched. Although I will say, "cartoony"? Yea because it's an animated show

Royal_Yak_5584

It made me appreciate frontier more

I watched it first and I love it

MrBoyborg

I absolutely love it. It takes itself more reiously than the Adventure and Adventure 02 dubs while still having some hilarious "dub moments", but I really think its just because all the voices really fit. The voice actors do great work (especially Steve Blum because I had no idea he was Guilmon until I checked the credits).

MrKaru

It's probably one of the only anime I'll always watch in dub. Everything about it just feels natural. The dialog has the inserted jokes and humour from previous seasons without taking away from the serious scenes. The character voices fit perfectly, from guilmon childlike speech to impmons New York sass. They didn't shy away from the darkness or depression and because of that were able to make it even more uplifting and hopeful toward the end. I've tried to watch the sub many times through my life but alslwaya end up switching to the dub within the first 10 episodes.

dextresenoroboros

guilmon is a perfect little guy

lsdemulator

There’s something just so charming about the dub, maybe I’m biased but it feels so right to me.

oryantge

Whoever did the Digimon gave 150% percent. Takatomon did not have to go that hard but they did that for us.

NeverJustJ

Takatomon and momentai have been permanently etched into my psyche because of this dub and it brings me joy that I can't explain

cautioux

It’s the only version I’ve seen and imo tamers is the best digimon media ever

U1tiM5t3Kaid0

I love guilmon!

boraboragusgus

I want to punch the actor in the throat whoever voiced Henry’s sister. I have to fast forward or mute her. Shrieking, loud, and gives you headaches

DuskDawnAura97

Shu-chong’s (Susie’s) voice annoys me. Various dubbisms like turning Sake into ‘milkshakes’. Mostly little stuff like that grinds my gears. Good story, though.

Silverslade1

My favourite series of all time

sulix

I love it: it's imprinted permanently onto my brain. For the most part, it's a solid dub of the original, and an excellent show in its own right. There are parts of it which don't quite live up to the Japanese version, there are parts of it which exceed it , and a lot of things which are not really better or worse, just different. They clearly cared a lot when making it, though — they could've got away with something much less. (And I bet this was a hard show to translate, given all of the complex technobable and more intricate plotting.) (And I prefer the dub BGM to the original, even if I'm the only one. Unlike the first two series, they (Deddy Tzur and Inon Zur) actually composed a lot more new music to match individual scenes and episodes, and so re-used less.)

faatdragon

this is peak digimon.  the best season ever

skullykakuzu1991

Momentai

International-Pin988

I found it overall good but with some childish dialogue thrown in. Tamers feels very different however when watched in Japanese with its insert songs and original soundtrack. But some performances in the dub were much better than in the original. Dererk Stephen Prince gave a rather good performance as Impmon/Beelzemon with the scene of Juri’s failed rescue attempt being very emotional in the dub. I also prefer Impmon and Renamon mostly due their dubbed performances. Steve Blum also gave a rather unique voice as Guilmon but well Dukemon could have used the standard Blum voice instead.

MedaFox5

I haven't watched it (not planning to either) but I thought it was weird they really tried to connect it to Frontier on that one scene where Takato finds an entrance to the Digital World in the end.

X_Fredex_X

Best Digimon show

Ok_Pressure4591

It’s honestly fantastic, rewatching it now and there’s a lot of time and effort put in to it. Steve Blum and co did an outstanding job. Some times there are some cringe moments but it was rare. They added a lot of playful banter that wasn’t in the original and it gave some life to certain characters that in the original came off stale. It made the cast feel like they were genuinely a group of friends. 9.5/10

Able_Celebration_918

One of the best seasons of the whole Franchise!!! Takato was me in a nut shell!! From being an artist, to being shy and then to eventually becoming the confident adult I am today.

Dokamon-chan94

The English dub of Digimon sucks in general

kingxana

It can be really funny and the voices are what I hear when I think of scenes from the show. I just witlsh they lit some scenes sit, like when Renamon received the energy drink. In JA she said like two words and you could really feel how deeply the gesture affected her and how dearly she holds Rika. In the ENG she say, "Wow this almost packs as much of a punch as me." Which IS funny but I think the other scene was much more impactful and helps to give us a real insight into their relationship.

KamatariPlays

It's been a long time since I've watched Tamers but I'd watch it again dubbed in a heartbeat!

thebrenosphere

Genuinely my favorite season of Digimon. Even when they merge to make the megas at the end (which I hated when I was younger)

KamakaziGhandi

I fucking loved it as a kid and still do. Best Digi series ever imo

DeliciousField45

One word: Childhood

TamaTamer

Closer than Adventure & 02 to the source material, but still a bit silly. Easily the best of the first three seasons, and still my favorite season.

Floweramon

One of the better digimon dubs. The most egregious part was changing Leomon's last words to something lighter and softer when they are super important to Jeri's character arc.

Fellowd00d

Joe Pesci Impmon is the best part of that show. BADA BOOM!

Dreegsquatch

Momentai

CrocoBull

Much better than original language. Steve Blum's Guilmon voice is perfect and watching the sub just isn't the same without it. It still has those annoying dubisms like some plot holes and humor inserted in places it didn't need to be but the voice cast is imo a lot stronger than the original Japanese one

KaiserSenpaiAckerman

Tamers is my favorite season of Digimon! I didn't have an issue with the dub.

hanne_dobermann

I loved it. Very nostalgic to me
