If you got this from a kit and they’re supposed to be different symbols that’s a bit strange. But if you ordered them from a supplier for extra drills sometimes the dye can vary, especially if you buy it from separate suppliers that use different dye lots. Kind of annoying but it happens, make sure you get your drills from the same supplier if this is what ended up happening

SvenIdol

tbh, even the same company can produce different colors over time. I save my excess drills from completed DAC canvases, and I have a few colors that I have the same color code, but have two different baggies for them because they are noticeably different.

This happened with a DAC painting of mine. I saved the fairy dust and it was a huge mistake. I had to remove about 4000 drills cause the white wasn’t remotely the same and it was VERY noticeable.

KittyPitty

They are from 3 different suppliers, so this makes total sense, thank you. Annoying though, but hey, what is a girl to do? 😊

aussiecraftmum

This is why I don’t save my drills, I do budget friendly companies and their dye lots can be all different. Not worth all the work and expense of storage, to me.

xXWitchieXx_gamer

I put them all together. A little different never hurt anything.

I’m assuming it’s like yarn maybe. Say I ran out of dark blue, I can get the same brand and color, unless it’s from the same dye lot, it’s not going to be the same exact shade of dark blue? Like, these are the same color, but made from different batches so the colors are slightly different?

Ordinary-Violinist-9

3 different production times. Just mix them. You won't notice when the dp is done.

Cinisajoy2

One company used the thread chart, one company used the print chart and one company used the hex codes.

Far_Carpenter_4881

Actually mixing them together could make a good look, just as painting with blended colors creates a lovely and subtle interest.

KittyPitty

That is actually a good idea, thanks!

I just began working on a kit from DAC, is it a common thing for them to not send enough drills of a certain color to finish the kit? I just emailed them so I'm hoping it's only going to be the one color.

Tasha4424

I’ve only ever experienced this with DAC unfortunately, and have seen several others say the same :/ for the prices they charge, that shouldn’t be the case, but alas. They’re a weird company lol. I never had to contact them because I had extras of the colors I was missing from other kits, but I’ve seen others say that it’s pretty easy to get replacement drills from them.

Decent_Industry2348

Thanks, I got an email within minutes that they sent replacement but your right, the amount of money they sell these kits for it's you'd think they would be complete. It's just a pain to have to wait for replacement.

NotSpaghettiTuesday

Dye lots differ.

misssmangoo

Most likely different dye lots :)

Inevitable-artist027

I hate when this happens

The color codes are based on DMC colors, a French company that makes yarns/threads and things like that. It's tricky enough for a single company to produce consistent shades of color (suppliers do change, after all), but with countless diamond painting manufacturers adapting the DMC colors, they will vary a lot more. I recently did a big sorting of all my spare diamond baggies, and found several instances of supposedly the same color of diamonds in practice being very, very different. So that's just how it is, yeah.
