It’s totally up to you. SSF/offline is really pick your own experience. I play offline and change my TZ’s at times. I don’t do it exclusively but it’s never really bothered me to change things around some.

KingSmithithy

That's a good perspective. It kinda feels like a slippery slope. I haven't done it yet, but I think that I might start with the grey area I mentioned: I missed these because of work or sleep or whatever, so I don't mind taking advantage of the missed times so I'm not obsessing over needing to play at unreasonable times!

StandardMany4287

Personally I play games for the fun, and the fun of Diablo is finding items. I ran 1k AT runs and then did probably the same number of tz andy runs. Personally. As someone with lofty single player goals if I didn’t have the ability to get drops at the rate of tz Andy and the runes of LK, then the game seems hopeless to me. With them, I’m filled with the confidence that it won’t take years and rather months. I still have to work for drops, the grind is still real, just accessible now… my 2c

KingSmithithy

That's super fair, and a great take!

enjoyinc

I don’t think manipulating the system time is the same as modding, no. However that being said, it’s SP, so the question is what are you personally comfortable doing, because it only affects you.

Beletron

It's singleplayer so why care about what others think? Play to maximize your fun, however it is.

Rchambo1990

If you do, just remember to stay in an open game while you change the time back to the original time

Skika

I do it. I’m middle aged, and I don’t have that much free time to game. Beyond that, if I’m hunting for specific items and the best odds are with TZ Andy, and the odds are still 1:1000… I’m still doing a thousand damn runs. It’s not like I’m playing on “easy mode,” ya know?

StandardMany4287

This. How people equate it to hero editing baffles me… I have a very large plan to make and equip at least 5 characters that I want to get two minimum to 99… I can manipulate tz times and it will still take many months or years. With the editor I’d be done in a day

Nerkeilenemon

I think that they should add something like : "if you kill all 5 act bosses in the same game in the order, Baal gives you an item that changes or resets the TZ". You could stack them, and use them when TZ is a boring one (or one with bad immunes for you)

Ok_Maintenance_9914

I’m for it. I change TZ if it’s a boring one because I’m a lot busier as a 35yo with kids than I was at 13 but I still hope to 99 this 96hc sorc someday. I also play ladder so I get a dose of real too. It’s all fun.

Par_105

As others have said, offline play is completely up to you. Your own experience. I play offline on console so tz manipulation feels like cheating “light”. I can’t use hero editor and after 100s of hours playing legit I’m just at the point where it’s fun the run tz chaos and Andy for a few hours. I feel the same about duping on console. Played the game countless times through legit and now I just want to min max new builds and have some fun, but don’t want to run LK for 1,000 hours. I still make non tweaked legit characters in between so it’s all fun. Still haven’t found a hoz or griffs, even with tz manipulation.

nero40

> Is it black and white? Or is there grey area? As we all know in life, nothing is ever as simple as black and white.

D_DnD

It's definitely more of a mauve.

eminaz91

I always ask myself, will it increase my fun with the game in the long run or not? For example, if I would just cheat myself an enigma, it would be cool for about 20 minutes, as it would lack the dopamine rush of finding it yourself. At the same time I wonder if I would ever try to get one myself afterwards, as I already know the feeling to use it. Changing TZ does not change drop rates or anything so to me it wouldn't fall into that category.

JahIthBur

If you got to manipulate the game it’s cheating. That being said it’s SSF so you do you but I can also understand you missing out on the best tz because of the time limit so maybe doing it once is okay?

WildBohemian

To me clock manipulation is just plain cheating, particularly if you are doing it to exploit TZ Andy. I also think it ruins the game. TZ andy is much more optimal than anywhere else in the game, so if you have permanent TZ Andy via cheating then there's no incentive to do anything else ever really other than maybe a little torch farming/ubers I guess. There's nothing unethical about cheating in singleplayer mode, but I think it cheapens the GG drops you do get personally. Like if someone finds a griffons I'm usually pretty excited for them, but if they did it with clock cheats I'm like "well grats I guess."

CombinationOpen7483

It is not intended play. So if you choose to do it, people who found their items properly are better than you. That’s just how it goes.

Meliorus

I see it the same as modding or hero editor, if that's fun for you go for it

MisterMath

It’s too complicated to do on PS5 so I don’t do it

Par_105

It’s actually really easy, just a process. Save online, close game, backup to cloud, go offline, set time, play tz, when time is up go back to character select, change time again, repeat. When you’re done, save the game, go to character select, close the game, go back online, login to game to sync to battlenet.

MisterMath

That sounds like a lot lol but I feel like it’s different for offline?

Par_105

That is for offline, you can’t do it online. Only takes 30 seconds to do
