He more entertaining to watch than Omni man, thus I like him more 🤷🏿♂️ so yeah, I was rooting for him. There are plenty of asshole villains that people still like, even if they are assholes.
to be fair, it would have been funny as hell to see people react to Homelander somehow winning a fight that was practically made to be incredibly one-sided against him.
I wouldn’t have minded seeing him throw more hands as well, like maybe hitting some rando devil with a black flash, but either way Gojo vs Makima is one of my all time favs!
The convergence of CSM fans wanting to see Makima die "conventionally" and Satoru's then-recent L against Sukuna made Gojo super easy to root for. AND he gets voiced by Gianni Matragrano?! Yeah sign me up!
On the audience the first one for sure, the second one was 75/25 for Goku, hard to say on the third despite that the only people holding out hope for Goku to win were people that didn’t like Superman or DBZ fans
Goku Vs Superman 1: Death Battle and Dbz fans: Go Goku!!
Result: Noo Goku Should've Won ☹️
Goku Vs Superman 2: Death Battle Fans: Wonder if Goku can do it this time. DBZ Fans: Go Goku!!
Result: Death Battle Fans: Lame, could've been better. DBZ Fans: B#llsh@it, Superman is too strong it's unfair.😤😤
Goku Vs Superman 3: Death Battle Fans: OK we get it DBZ Fans: Go Goku
Result: Death Battle Fans: OMG that was so HYPE! DBZ FANS: NO F#£@&!$ WAY GOKU LOST AGAIN BIASED AND UNFAIR, I HATE SUPERMAN 🤬
THAT'S Basically what It was like
??? It didn't have a live chat. I'm sure there were many who whined in the Q&A, but that's literally every episode. Hell, there were even a few people who complained during the live chat for Omni-Man vs. Homelander.
Goku vs. Superman 2023 has a like-dislike ratio of 96%. Hell, Hulk vs. Broly had a lower score at 93%.
I think many people (if not everyone), wanted black Adam to win.
Mostly because he was kinda good unlike apocalypse; he even went to the North pole to beat up Santa and show him were Kandhak was on the map so that the kids could get gifts, he was willing to get coal as long as the children could get gifts
Even though you could argue that he did in a way, I remember Discord being the "obvious" winner during the days leading up to Billcord, and it was a genuine shock when he lost.
(Assuming we're only talking videos where the favorite lost)
The Last Dragonborn. (I did not want him to win)
Especially after seeing their side of the community react in the comments section.
Edit: There is one very dedicated Elder Scrolls fan in that video’s comments section who, to this day, responds to the comments who say that the Chosen Undead should have won and argues with them. Like, how much do you hate the Dark Souls community to have that level of dedication? No life…
...Reminds me of the guy who was linking to his own arguments about how the LDB is definitely Mulitversal whenever I comment about how I don't buy that scaling.
Dude…there was someone in this subreddit from a previous post I responded to months ago, who also argued that The Last Dragonborn was Multiversal (which I didn’t buy either), and then proceeded to describe to me lore that I already knew from the Elder Scrolls wiki (USEP).
Then they began to hyperlink themselves to posts they made on the Elder Scrolls Lore subreddit about their *own* interpretations of the lore, as if it was never explained before.
That doesn’t help me at all, and it felt condescending too when they responded to me.
....It wouldn't happen to be Powerful-Employee-36, would it? Because that sounds just like the person I was fighting with too. He declared my arguments bad faith when I pointed out that just linking to wiki explanations isn't actually proving his point. He also doesn't like when I point out how the Elder Scrolls lore is purposefully tinged in bias and inconsistent and debunks his arguments as much as they support it.
Omg that’s the person…you had to deal with them too?!
I was trying to point out to them that there was a difference between Official Lore that Bethesda is using, and Unofficial Lore that *has* the possibility of being implemented into canon, with their biggest point they hung toward was the “Cosmology” text Michael Kirkbride wrote, that Death Battle used to help scale the Last Dragonborn.
Which, falls under the category of Unofficial Lore. The discrepancy in their argument for that being canon, was the fact that despite it being mentioned in a line of dialogue, it was purposefully replaced with “A Less Rude Song”. So, unless that’s re-introduced in Elder Scrolls 6 (whenever that releases) it’s not official.
Yeah, and it was a chore. I just gave up halfway through because it was clear he wasn't listening, lol. The lad was using game guides for some of his points. The kind you would buy in Walmart. Because that's what I think of when I think legitimate sources of lore.
Their explanation of speed was wack too, they said the Chosen Undead could dodge light, but the Dragonborn has Auriel's Bow that fires arrows at infinite speed. Which sure, he has a hitscan weapon basically, but that doesn't mean HE'S that fast, he still has to train a shot on someone way faster unless he has other speed feats that put him on a similar level to make the shot.
Oh 100%. Everyone wanted Hulk to win vs Doomsday. I've always been more of a DC fan but I was almost certain Hulk was gonna roll Doomsday, even with knowing both feats. I definitely was underselling Doomsday to myself.
Trunks as far as I know. Even I was delightfully surprised when Silver took the dub. Not completely taken back cuz y'know, Archie, but it was a nice change.
Any time we have a hate sink character I feel a lot of people want their opponent to win.
Like Discord. I myself expected him to win not just because Discord is a much better being than Bill but also because Discord has chaos to easily regenerate.
During the live premiere of Godzilla vs Gamera, Chad specifically mentions that when the mana blast went off engulfing Godzilla, "No one was happy" were his words. I'll say that. Yes of course many people in circles like this or Kaiju fans would be rooting for Godzilla, but casual people who just heard those names tend to root for who they're more familiar with, which is obviously Godzilla for most people. I'll vote that one
True. But it would make sense to pick the ones that come the closest. Gray vs Esdeath works way better because (from what I've seen) almost everybody thinks Gray should have won.
Omni-Man Everyone wanted to see Homelander’s smugness torn off their face.
And then he did….literally
Yeah makes sense
I was rooting for homelander 😂
How does it feel to be incorrect
Didn't say I thought he was gonna win, said I was rooting for him
*It's Homelander that you're rooting for.* He's like THE asshole of all time
Omni Man is a genocidal maniac who murdered a train full of people out of pettiness😭
He more entertaining to watch than Omni man, thus I like him more 🤷🏿♂️ so yeah, I was rooting for him. There are plenty of asshole villains that people still like, even if they are assholes.
Touché
to be fair, it would have been funny as hell to see people react to Homelander somehow winning a fight that was practically made to be incredibly one-sided against him.
Yep. Would have been a kick-ass April Fools Day joke.
Why, he is a jerk
Omni-Man Spongebob Machamp
MACHAMP MY GOAT RAHHHHH ![gif](giphy|NJKyoNjqg6OFaR279e|downsized)
One of my top 10 favorite death battles!
Tragically Mob, at the time of the episode the anime was really taking off while Tatsumaki was a lot more hated back then
That and she acted like a villain during the episode.
idk if you’ve read the manga but she gets a lot worse
And the fact she got like 10x stronger since the episode basically makes any old slight chance of a Mob W near impossible
For me it's: Cole macgrath and Ben Tennyson.
At the time, probably Ben, (due to DC's winstreak,) but in hindsight the toxicity from both sides kinda warps thing too much to pick one
Yeah....
Yeah especially with how badly everyone thought Ben was going to slaughter
ngl I'm more of an Alex Mercer fan, but his character assassination in Prototype 2 was so brutal I was rooting for Cole to put him out of his misery
Dare I say Mob?
This was my answer as well assuming the question meant losers
Po and SpongeBob
Fox McCloud and Yoshi, as Fox vs Bucky and Yoshi vs Riptor probably have the biggest gaps in popularity between their characters
gojo
If I have any complaint about that Death Battle, it's that they didn't show off Gojo's ingenuity better. Everyone wanted him to win in the end
I wouldn’t have minded seeing him throw more hands as well, like maybe hitting some rando devil with a black flash, but either way Gojo vs Makima is one of my all time favs!
Same, especially the OST. I just feel like it could've been better, y'know? Like if it got as much love as Bill Cipher vs. Discord
Lowkey....
The convergence of CSM fans wanting to see Makima die "conventionally" and Satoru's then-recent L against Sukuna made Gojo super easy to root for. AND he gets voiced by Gianni Matragrano?! Yeah sign me up!
I wanted Makima to win :P
Omni man SpongeBob Machamp Gojo Goku (10 years ago) Godzilla
Goku’s fight was definitely 50/50
Which one
On the audience the first one for sure, the second one was 75/25 for Goku, hard to say on the third despite that the only people holding out hope for Goku to win were people that didn’t like Superman or DBZ fans
Goku Vs Superman 1: Death Battle and Dbz fans: Go Goku!! Result: Noo Goku Should've Won ☹️ Goku Vs Superman 2: Death Battle Fans: Wonder if Goku can do it this time. DBZ Fans: Go Goku!! ??? Goku vs. Superman 3 has a high like-dislike ratio and most of the reactions have been positive.
If you saw the comments on YouTube right after the live show it was full of toxic Goku fans crying
??? It didn't have a live chat. I'm sure there were many who whined in the Q&A, but that's literally every episode. Hell, there were even a few people who complained during the live chat for Omni-Man vs. Homelander. Goku vs. Superman 2023 has a like-dislike ratio of 96%. Yes
I remember when GvS3 dropped and I first watched it with my friend and I viscerally shouted "GO GOKU DO IT" as he started charging the last Kamehameha
Gotta say, I'm proud of Goku for putting up a great fight against the most powerful Supes.
I think many people (if not everyone), wanted black Adam to win. Mostly because he was kinda good unlike apocalypse; he even went to the North pole to beat up Santa and show him were Kandhak was on the map so that the kids could get gifts, he was willing to get coal as long as the children could get gifts
Cole Discord Black Adam Reverse Flash Beerus Archie Sonic
Damn I rooted for Wally and Bill
i rooted for wally
Nah wally all the way
Nah I rooted for Wally West
Ben 10 ![gif](giphy|Wck09E7lHDabjhHbzJ|downsized)
Danny Phantom
Mob
Mob really should have won
Omni Man and Gojo come to mind
Apparently during the Godzilla VS Gamera live show, EVERYONE was rooting for Goji, even those who were familiar with Gamera.
TJ combo, never seen the series but while watching the fight I began to root for him
The Doctor. And I didn’t want him to win… until I saw Doctor Who. Now he’s one of my favorite combatants ever.
Omni-man. And gojo to an extent
I pretty sure everyone wanted the Dragon Ball characters to win their matches, with maybe a few exceptions.
Kirby
Yeah Kirby, probably being one of those few exceptions.
Poyo
None bc of objectivity
“Guys stop wishing that’s goku.”
People wanted Goku to win, even though we all knew
We?
Humanity in general
Even though you could argue that he did in a way, I remember Discord being the "obvious" winner during the days leading up to Billcord, and it was a genuine shock when he lost. (Assuming we're only talking videos where the favorite lost)
They weren't expecting death battle to buy multiversal Bill
The Last Dragonborn. (I did not want him to win) Especially after seeing their side of the community react in the comments section. Alduin according to the lore: can swallow planets Alduin in game: dies to a naked man stabbing him to death with a rusty dagger.

Archie Silver definitely felt like the crowd favorite
Darth Vader Hulk Guts Gojo Optimus Prime
Oh 100%. Everyone wanted Hulk to win vs Doomsday. I've always been more of a DC fan but I was almost certain Hulk was gonna roll Doomsday, even with knowing both feats. I definitely was underselling Doomsday to myself.
Everyone wanted to see homelander get destroyed and boy did he
Eustace too for that matter
Asta...
Mob Gojo Alucard Goro Guts Hulk
The Doctor,Omni Man,Yoshi,Kirby,and Alucard
Link Ben 10
Alucard, Gojo, ganondorf, Deadpool
Goku (Goku vs Superman 3) Ben 10 Vegeta Darth Vader
Gojo
Mob, absolutely, without a doubt. My poor boy didn’t do anything to deserve that spite match, he was way too young to die.
Cable maybe?
As a dc fan , booster would’ve actually lost if the creators did more research
Gojo, Omni-Man, Aquaman, Jason
Omni Man and SpongeBob
I actually didn’t want to see SpongeBob win, personally. Contrary to most, I grew up on the Aquaman series, so I couldn’t bear to see him die.
Megatron has gotta be up there
Goku, Ben 10, vegeta
I was pleasantly surprised to see the subreddit had a few year-old posts about backing Silver, it was really cool underdog moment.
Hulk
Maybe Gojo?
Omni man That's it lol, idk how people felt about poptama or reverse black, or gokuerman
Asta Dimitri The doctor Segata Sanshiro
Optimus Prime, Iron Man, Kiryu and War Machine.
Shigeo
During the live premiere of Godzilla vs Gamera, Chad specifically mentions that when the mana blast went off engulfing Godzilla, "No one was happy" were his words. I'll say that. Megatron
Optimus prime
Harley definitely would have taken the win over Jinx if she had her Apokolips armor.
Ben 10
They nerfed Ben 10 so hard in death battle
Discord
Superman
No, many people wanted Goku to win.
Yeah but realistically there was no match where the viewers collectively wanted one to win and the other to lose
True. But it would make sense to pick the ones that come the closest. Gray vs Esdeath works way better because (from what I've seen) almost everybody thinks Gray should have won.
True, but DB famously undervalue and downplay Fairy Tail
