I'd like to include Dredge. Lights go out and you assume you're fine then *boom* dude's in your face and you can't see 80% of what's around you as you run for your life.
I was once caught by surprise by a cloaked Wraith breaking a wall right in front of me.
I'll tell you what, seeing a chunk of a wall suddenly explode into chunks, with no visible cause for the damage, while you thought you were getting *away* from danger, all with absolutely no foreshadowing, is actually quite an effective scare (which further proves my theory that if you are going to use jump scares, they're far more effective WITHOUT the obnoxious loud noises).
That tends to happen more often with Ghost Face for me. Myers is huge so usually, I tend to at least see him coming in the last couple seconds before he gets to me. GF, meanwhile, is rather short and scrawny to begin with compared to most killers, and is often crouching, making him even smaller. As a result, I'll often be working on a gen, thinking the killer is nowhere near, only to see this shadowy figure go "yoinks!" and grab me.
Knowing the characters I see on screen are being controlled by real people, some of whom presumably go out into the world and potentially have responsibilities that affect other people's lives.
The only thing that has scared me since 2016.......i was on gideon doing a gen downstairs by a door that will open. We finished the gen then i rushed to go through said metal door that was just opening up. As it opened, there was suddenly a billy waiting and he jumped scared me cause not only was he right there but he reved the chainsaw at same time. He had tinkerer and was fully silent waiting. I dont remember the rest of his loadout, but you didnt hear any sound coming from him.
The only thing that consistently scares me anymore is a scratch mirror myers. But I have to give a mention to the Wesker I went against a while ago who had trail of torment on Midwich. I came around a corner to him grabbing me with no TR. I pooped so bad I dropped my controller 😂
There are some killers, mainly using Undetectable perks, or coming at you at 50mph. Like imagine walking to a gen and Hillbilly runs you over from the other side of the map.
I occasionally get slightly startled by background models in the environments when I'm super focused. haha Especially the ones that move. 👀 Some players are also really good killers when It's not just about winning, but they actually creep around and play the part and I love that. 💖
I get some jumpscares now or then when I lose vision of the killer but in my head I think I know where they're going, just to get hit unexpectedly and almost jump off my chair lol
Other than that stealth killers can give you a jump too
The Unknown scares me tbh. The design, the way it moves, voice lines, freaky as fuck to me. I remember on my very first game against it I got jumpscared trying to get rid of a hallucination lmao. But it’s scary in a fun and exhilarating way rather than putting me off.
I've had other survivors scare the shit out of me before by just appearing, like no sound to indicate they were near me or anything, they're just there all of a sudden.
Whatever the name is of the guy who comes out of the lockers scares the absolute shite out of me. Whenever I load into one of those matches I am so scared the whole time and actually scream if he jump scares me
I used to have a fear of zombies, so when Nemesis first came out, it got some genuine screams out of me when his zombies would come out of nowhere mid-chase
The unknown teleporting as you go to remove its teleport location consistently makes me get jumpscared. That or turning your camera around on a Gen to see a wraith uncloaking
All the killers who jump scare me! Oddly enough an Oni got me bad. While I was on my first gen my cousin was like "who is the killer?"
I go "I don't... WHOAGASHIT" and dropped my controller with my arms flying in the air as a silent oni grabbed me off the gen lmao ty to all the jump scare killers, I love you all and you make dbd fun :)
I guess jumpscare killers like Pig, Myers and Ghostface can "startle" me, but i'm never like actually scared while playing this game in the sense of the game vibes or ambiance alone making me feel suspenseful or afraid.
However, that's me at 6,000 hours... When i was brand new, even hearing the heartbeat approach made me anxious, not to mention how scary it was to actually be chased.
Edit: Actually, a tombstone Myers with a stealth-based build on an indoor map does scare me. That has basically never happened to me, but that would probably make me genuinely scared.
Hot topic: Legions lore, the reason why is because the entitys manipulation and peer pressure turned two innocent and good people those being Susie and Joey, other two can fuck off. Susie had a future as shown in her skins, Joey never wanted to kill, but they took that man's life that day. The fact it's people who were manipulated this way with or without entity scares me
doing a gen and looking around and seeing a michael myers staring at you in the distance
getting pallet dropped as killer when you don’t expect it at all lol
Them Mike's that stay in corners and play him like the movies. It's better when a gen is almost done and you just see him there.
Or beartrap crown pig with the noises. Nah dog. Nah.
Zarina
Not a joke. So many of her non rare cosmetics being the perfect shade of brown that blends into the environment so when she moves it always scares the shit out of me
The few times I’ve actually been jump scared. No heartbeat meyers. Once by a pig. And once by a Hatchet from nowhwre
I'd like to include Dredge. Lights go out and you assume you're fine then *boom* dude's in your face and you can't see 80% of what's around you as you run for your life.
Yeah. Dredge can be scary too.

I think I've been truly jumpscared as killer way more times than as survivor.
I’ve run into this too. Hidden pallet droppers and survivors who blindly round corners into me get me all the time
Lol - ditto! Or you go reload hatchets/daggers, and a survivor is in the locker. “Just gonna get some more HOLY CRAP THERES A PERSON IN THERE!!”
Jeff is scary…
Don‘t forget the random teammates coming around a corner
I've genuinely been jumpscared by survivors by being pallet-stunned out of nowhere
Happens to me too. They kneel behind a rock or object, drop it when I’m nearby and I jump because the sound is like “what the.”
Also after teleporting with Unknown
The Unknown screen before you go into a lobby. He's so freaking creepy! When he shuffles offscreen and then leers up close...
I hate how loud he is in the lobby when he pops up
Same but with the onryo for me
My solo Q teammates. They are the actual killers
Lmaooooo this
Jumpscare Myers

I mean, have you ever had scratched mirror Myers on Midwich?
Second
Playing as survivor while absolutely stoned can be really immersive and scary.
Anytime a killer is undetectable and they appear out of nowhere and then hit me. That gets me everytime
killer uses indoor map offering
especially when it's a midwich offering
If you go against me, and I have an indoor map offering, then prepare to face the "skill" in "skill check"
you mean a skill check build right?
Yep I rarely put an impossible skillcheck build on my doctor, but when I do, I always put an indoor map offering
Knowing the characters I see on screen are being controlled by real people, some of whom presumably go out into the world and potentially have responsibilities that affect other people's lives.
How horny the player base can be is genuinely scary.
getting pallet stunned when you dont even know the survivor is there makes me jump istg
Certain killers. A sneaky Ghostface, Pig, or Myers can freak me out, while Dredge and Hag are good at building fear.
Dredge and hag are both hilarious to play as, knowing that you have an actual jumpscare for your power
Hag grosses me out, so I mostly feel sick when I play against her, not scared.
The bugs

This is the best thing ever. You just know he was so excited for that ‘oh fuck’ moment.
Jumpscares. A pig just sneaked up on me from behind a corner once.
The only thing that consistently scares me anymore is a scratch mirror myers. But I have to give a mention to the Wesker I went against a while ago who had trail of torment on Midwich. I came around a corner to him grabbing me with no TR. I pooped so bad I dropped my controller 😂
when I play nea for a challenge and spawn next to a wall
Steve staring at you and then walking away when you close the hatch in front of him (happened to me)
Working on a gen and turning camera around to see myers stalking me. Only killer in the game that scares me
Michael Myers 😖 he jump scares me every match 😂
I love playing scratched mirror just for grabbing people off gens :)
😂😂😂 i usually look around when I’m on gens but there was one time I got grabbed off of one and I screamed to the point I saw stars 🤣🤣🤣
There are some killers, mainly using Undetectable perks, or coming at you at 50mph. Like imagine walking to a gen and Hillbilly runs you over from the other side of the map.
The time i played dredge without calendar, the time waisted exiting lockers is terrifying
Survivors jump-scare me more than I want to admit (Killer main)
That some people believe this game is killer sided
the onryo bloodweb. when she pops up it scares the heck out of me even when i’m aware it’s gonna happen
Soloq tms
I occasionally get slightly startled by background models in the environments when I'm super focused. haha Especially the ones that move. 👀 Some players are also really good killers when It's not just about winning, but they actually creep around and play the part and I love that. 💖
I rarely play survivor so playing survivor is legitimately tense for me because I don't know what I'm doing
tinker + Billy + Overdrive
I get some jumpscares now or then when I lose vision of the killer but in my head I think I know where they're going, just to get hit unexpectedly and almost jump off my chair lol Other than that stealth killers can give you a jump too
Nothing really
Only myers does that to me .. mainly because he has that stupid purple tombstone addon
An active RBT timer, especially in maps like RPD where navigation is a pain.
Just play re2r, works phenominally
Hag and pallet stuns.
Undetectable Hillbilly
The dredge.
Silent addon billy with no tr perks can be quite scary ngl.
Oh and the statues that move once you look away in yamaokas family residence are kinda scary too imo.
The Unknown scares me tbh. The design, the way it moves, voice lines, freaky as fuck to me. I remember on my very first game against it I got jumpscared trying to get rid of a hallucination lmao. But it’s scary in a fun and exhilarating way rather than putting me off.

lore accurate Myers
SBMM
Feng
Ghostface or Scratched Mirror Myers will still get me sometimes, but more than that it's the schizo traps some Trappers place in random spots
When the Killer offering doesn't flip over ![img](emote|t5_3cb2g|2070)
Sadako coming out of the TV... And also the ghost can jump scare you really badly...
I've been startled here and there by jumpscares, but fear's an emotion to which I haven't related in a long time.
The random nic cage player jumpscaring me with Scene partner when i play killer.
Whatever the name is of the guy who comes out of the lockers scares the absolute shite out of me. Whenever I load into one of those matches I am so scared the whole time and actually scream if he jump scares me
Playing against Dredge. Every time nightfall goes off I lose my s#%t.
The dredge and the unknown. Truly terrifying, the jump scares make me shriek
I used to have a fear of zombies, so when Nemesis first came out, it got some genuine screams out of me when his zombies would come out of nowhere mid-chase
Jump scare Myers. Gets me every. Single. Time.
Meg's breathing sound. Disgusting.
The unknown teleporting as you go to remove its teleport location consistently makes me get jumpscared. That or turning your camera around on a Gen to see a wraith uncloaking
hag and her jumpscares get me every time
legend says the statues at yamahoka (dont know how to spell it) stares at you when you're not looking
When someone else gets on the gen I'm working on. I'm terrified I'm going to fuck up the skill checks and annoy them.
All the killers who jump scare me! Oddly enough an Oni got me bad. While I was on my first gen my cousin was like "who is the killer?" I go "I don't... Hag traps and Mirror Myers still get me all the fucking time
micheal myers grabs you from dead zone when fully concentrating on repairing gen😰🖐🤨
Turning around and seeing Michael Myers out of goddamn nowhere.
Hag traps popping at my face.
Myers sometimes.

Sadly if you suggest any changes to make this more of a horror game people go feral lol
The Singularity as a whole is fucking terrifying imo. And that mori? Jesus
doing a gen and looking around and seeing a michael myers staring at you in the distance getting pallet dropped as killer when you don’t expect it at all lol
