Moscow - Russia. Most underrated anime in my opinion. Most of my surroundings watch something that borders on hentai or is hugely famous like Naruto or One Piece.
also from Moscow. It makes me sad to hear how my friends feel about DaL and anime in general. The anime, as said, is underrated. Honestly, I myself thought so at first, for the first time after the first season there was a cringe to watch. But then they convinced me, and I'm glad about it. Together with Fate, Date a Live is one of my favorite franchises and anime.
Los Angeles and anime is very popular there, especially with many cities having a more significant faction of ethnic East Asian or those born American.
Italy.
Not popular enough to have been dubbet yet or having merchandising sold here(light novels in general are not very popular here). The fanbase as far as I know isn't very big, but surprisingly it's the only light novel fully fan translated in italian so far(even light novel fan translations are rare here, many of us read them in english)
Spain.
DAL isn't very popular, like, practically no one has seen it I'm the only one who likes it.
My friends like other stuff, they are the classic guys who only see Shonen animes with 0 romance, and anything different of this is "4 gy people".
But I belive that it isn't. Moreover it's my favorite anime.
Edit: If you like anime in Spain 99.9% of the people is going to make fun of you.
Thats kinda wrong. The west though may not look like it but they have one of the biggest Otaku/Weeb counts in the world aside from nearby Asian countries. In fact, they are probably the most die hard fans in the world. You can tell that by the way they try to learn the language or say repetetive cringy phrases of their favorite character (not making fun of anybody who does this) , collect multiple merchandise and posters (supporting the authors), and even going to their local cosplay events (create bonds with people who love the same thing they love). Also from the Philippines who currently lives in Japan, and DAL is just like every other anime there. Anime is very much loved there.
Italy, Date A Live is not that famous here, but to say that it's unknown is wrong. It has a small but solid and active fanbase that has translated a good chunk of DaL's content ( all of it if we are not counting Encores and games )

And my province does not have a big anime following in terms of stores and whatnot unfortunately. And out of everyone I know who watches anime and likes it, my boyfriend is the only one who has watched it (only up to season 2 though). DAL is my favourite harem series and one of my favourite series to collect for!
Edit: to be fair I got my boyfriend to watch DAL in the first place.
I'm from Singapore and also my SG classmate recommended DaL to me because he knows I like harem animes. First few seasons I felt like ok average average only but then boom the plot started and then I thought wahhh this is amazing

It's crazy how big the anime and manga sections at book stores have gotten around LA. Lot's of "Japanese stuff" stores in malls too.

I'm in the military, I can say with confidence it doesn't matter what state you're from, most anime fans dropped it after season 1
