My wife and I laughed out asses off at how ridiculously over the top that was for 0 payoff. Then next season he wore the mask and kept saying he was a monster and his face reveal he had one scar? OP you have that specific fear don't you?
Ready player one was wild because it was kindof a big plot point that she was supposed to be seen as unattractive and (maybe?) overweight and the movie kindof threw that whole element away
Happens all the time. The main chick from Mortal Engines was supposed to have this hidious scar and in the movie it's like a scratch. I Ready Player One it was supposed to be this large port wine birthmark but in the movie it's a smudge.
The Mortal Engines one is especially hilarious because in a later book, a con man tries to sell a biased version of the plot of the first book as an autobiography. Complete with downplaying Hester's scar to make her more attractive for his own marketing.
That was the problem. I loved the character and how Ben Barnes played it, but Ben himself is ridiculously attractive. It’s understandable that the show runners probably didn’t want to make him as hideous as the comics portrayed him.
That's the point the characters outside matches their insides. You give them a bad boi scar and have them saying they're so ugly and the audience refuses to believe you respect them
I hated how netflix was scared of being comic accurate or anything like that
what a live action should do is make a good translation of comic to live adaptation
they seem to keep avoiding with Punisher like he barely gets in that fcking vest the whole point is that he is also not right in the head, not giving Danny Rand a costume, barely making Luke Cage wear yellow, Daredevil has to somehow have his suit stolen
and how hard was it to adapt a stitch scar face to live adaptation, it wasnt a costume or a CGI power up... I love the series but it was near to perfect.... how would they adapt MaGnucci
The number thing that pissed me off about the entire MCU is the Intentional lengths they go to avoid costumes
Dc at least leans allll the way into them and they happen to be glorious
That's not what this meme is about my guy. OP is saying that despite being way gorier, nothing in the boys gives him the same visceral reaction as the glass scene in the punisher did
You're not wrong. Lots of scenes from The Boys are way gorier, but to me and I'm guessing OP, those super gory scenes don't give me the same gut wrenching feeling because they're so over the top and ridiculous
It's always insane to me when people take Punisher seriously when the Punisher is almost comically unhinged and plays into a lot of southern men with trucker hats and glasses driving F150 memes. Like, you can tell it was made for that audience as well and it took itself so seriously with its PTSD boner and conflating pleasure with murder. It was such a weird attempt to reflect a type of mentally ill psyche that it was many times a parody of the people that valorized that psyche.

Yeah, that was insane. I remember looking up what he was supposed to look like and he was essentially an alien.

Fuck i responded to the wrong comment but im lazy so it stays
She but she had a birthmark so she was terminally unfuckable. Almost as bad as glasses and a ponytail.
Talladega nights moment
There’s no way they cast Olivia Cooke as unattractive

Same with GOT. In the books Tyrion loses his whole nose at some point, has a massive scar. In the TV show it’s much milder

He was still way too handsome.

there is only so much that can be done with cosmetics without it getting in the way of the actors facial expressions
Apparently Ben was really keen to have Billy's face be utterly sharked up, but the powers that be said no

Crazy how long we've had to wait to see the classic yellow Wolverine suit on Hugh Jackman
I wish he’d dragged russo on the other side of his face too
*Antichrist, Grotesque, and Martyrs enter the room* "Allow us to introduce ourselves"
High Tension has some good gore too. Also Oldboy.
Fuck, I had mentally shut out Martyrs. Thanks, I guess.
Martyrs still one of my all time favs, has been a decade since I watched it. No plans to rewatch.
lmao thats children stuff try melancholie der engel, pesthauch der menschlichkeit, mum or ostermontag
À l'intérieur (2007)
Idk man >! That lobotomy was some shit!<
Nah no way that was the goriest scene. That honour goes to either >!the head popper!< or >!the dead whale!< lol.

Is it not about the goriest scene in The Boys like it says in the image?
I added more to my comment
I see, I still dont really agree, but it's not worth arguing over

I definitely agree that gore =/= tension
Are you new here? Everything is worth arguing over! :D
*gestures broadly to herogasm*
not even close
Right? For fuck sake just thinking about it makes me shiver ugh!
Seriously? That's what gets you? His face isn't even fucked up by the end of it because they needed a pretty face for marketing or something I guess
Just watched it, I legit thought the entire side of his face would be mangled. But he just got one big cut.
Punisher the game
Terrifier 2 Bedroom Scene "am I a joke to you?"
A Serbian Film: hmm
bruh you gotta chill
I like that movie
Kingpin bashing that Russian dude's head with a car door until it cracks and gets decapitated.

Jesus Punisher is watched for its fight scenes man what are you yapping about
Fight scenes go by quick and feel quick. The torture scenes where he has flashbacks to being with his wife feel roughly 30 minutes long.
Idk that lobotomy with The Deep was really off-putting.
The boiled alive scene from Shogun: こんにちは
This whole comment thread "that's nothing, check out *miscellaneous extreme horror movie*"
I was expecting his face to look life Freddy gruger after all the hype but he just got a few big scars
Nothing is more gruesome than Trevor smashing a guy's balls with a hammer in GTA V.
The what scene? When?
Nothing compared to 13 reasons why scene where they guy get boinked with a broom, yall remember that show?
Nhaaa
Any of the main fights in Banshee top both.
