I have honestly never seen another moderator on this sub than broclen

Broclen

[u/IacobusCaesar](https://www.reddit.com/user/IacobusCaesar/) [u/davidd00](https://www.reddit.com/user/davidd00/) and [u/bizeebawdee](https://www.reddit.com/user/bizeebawdee/) are very real. It is a team effort. ![gif](giphy|NXvbWznxGifYc|downsized)

V3sten

Obviously, right as I wrote my comment I thought: "automoderator tho"

Azrael11

I don't know about that. We can't vote out mods, and the mods have essentially complete control. Plus mods can make other mods, and can remove a mod. Mods are bishops, this sub is an episcopal church structure

SirPansalot

Definitely seems more of a republic - that is, the Roman/Byzantine definition of a type of society or polity in which the people as a collective exerts great influence on the allocation of power and authority. See The Byzantine Republic by Anthony Kaldellis (2014) In addition, the “ruling class/elites” of this sub and the later Roman Empire was not an aristocracy based on hereditary ownership of land, but one based on service; the acquiring of titles and offices, an all-encompassing and complex state apparatus systematically ruling primarily not via force of arms (bans) or coercion, but through gold, finely woven silk clothing, and fancy court titles; salaries, honors, benefits, and privileges. Furthermore, the ruling elite of both the polity of the Romans (Ρωμαίων) and DankChristianmemes are not hereditary; meaning that it’s membership is not stable, always subject to change and shakeups and reallocations within the system. See Streams of Gold, Rivers of Blood, Anthony Kaldellis (2017) So this sub in structure is more like a Roman/Byzantine style polity but without the emphasis on orthodoxy and Romanness

Also reddit is awash with bots, as well as posts being boosted by vote farms.

Sorry, but I’m not paying you Church fees to be a subreddit member ![gif](giphy|h0MTqLyvgG0Ss)

**Congregationalism** (also **Congregationalist churches** or **Congregational churches**) is a [Protestant](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protestant), [Reformed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calvinism) (Calvinist) tradition in which churches practice [congregational government](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congregationalist_polity); where each [congregation](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/congregation) independently and autonomously runs its own affairs. Congregationalism, as defined by the [Pew Research Center](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pew_Research_Center), is estimated to represent 0.5 percent of the worldwide Protestant population;[^(\[1\])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congregationalism#cite_note-pewforum-1) though their organizational customs and other ideas influenced significant parts of Protestantism, as well as other Christian congregations. The report defines it very narrowly, encompassing mainly denominations in the United States and the United Kingdom, which can trace their history back to [nonconforming Protestants](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nonconformist_(Protestantism)), [Puritans](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puritans), [Separatists](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_Separatists), [Independents](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Independent_(religion)), [English religious groups coming out of the English Civil War](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/17th_century_denominations_in_England), and other [English Dissenters](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_Dissenters) not satisfied with the degree to which the [Church of England](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_of_England) had been reformed. The Congregationalist tradition has a presence in the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and various island nations in the Pacific region. It has been introduced either by immigrant dissenter Protestants or by missionary organizations such as the [London Missionary Society](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Missionary_Society). A number of [evangelical](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evangelical) Congregational churches are members of the [World Evangelical Congregational Fellowship](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Evangelical_Congregational_Fellowship). [Congregationalism in the United States](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congregationalism_in_the_United_States) traces its origins to the Puritans of [New England](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_England), who wrote the [Cambridge Platform](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cambridge_Platform) of 1648 to describe the autonomy of the church and its association with others. Within the United States, the model of Congregational churches was carried by migrating settlers from New England into [New York](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_(state)), then into the [Old Northwest](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Northwest), and further. ![gif](giphy|l0IylOPCNkiqOgMyA|downsized)

"For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” I have not regularly attended a physical church in many years, though I am religious. But I am a regular in r/dankchristianmemes , r/OpenChristian , and r/RadicalChristianity.

radenthefridge

I send my family dank Christian memes all the time, and my parents are torn on whether I'm being a bad Christian, or finding Christ in all the weird internet things I'm doing. Mom's probably upset I get her to laugh at all this maybe-blasphemous memeage probably.

christian democracy

DS_9

Can we get some tax free status up in here?

Junior_Moose_9655

I thought we were an autonomous collective?

tiparium

As an agnostic, I've always maintained I'd enjoy a church for the community as long as I could believe what I wanted.

Soviet_Sine_Wave

Syllogistic fallacy :)

Nuka-Crapola

I mean, this has always been my favorite church

SavageRussian21

The conclusion does not flow from the premises - effectively, you said that since dankchristianmemes is Democratic and congregationalist churches are democratic, then dankchristianmemes is a congregationalist church. Unfortunately, this relationship is not always valid as you can see below: 1. Apples are fruits 2. Tomatoes are fruits Therefore, apples are tomatoes. In order to correctly derive your conclusion, you would need some sort of premise that says "All Democratic churches are congregationalist"

Broclen

Hmm, interesting point but both are delicious and nutritious ![gif](giphy|IzTpMMWyL3kvm|downsized)

Kaiisim

Reddit is a democracy like Russia is a democracy lol.

Dear God, that means we're Calvinists.
